TW: HIDDEN CAMERA! My sister was married here a few years back. The wedding was beautiful and reception space lovely.... So why the low rating? THEY HAD A HIDDEN CAMERA IN THE BRIDAL SUITE! We found the small, cube-shaped camera after the wedding had started... so after we had been using the space for the entire day to dress. The camera's light was on, which indicated it was live recording. When confronted, the staff member on site (possibly the owner?) stated that the area in question was "not expected to be used for changing", and therefore they were "allowed" to have a camera. Imagine that... a bridal suite, (behind locked doors no less), that is not for changing?? Complete & utter BS. And what's worse is that the woman (I think her name was Karen?) was completely dismissive of our concerns, & didn't even BLINK when we asked her about it! Like it was common practice that she and the staff spied on every female wedding party! Meanwhile, there was ZERO signage to indicate there was a camera in that room or that we were being recorded. Plus, the camera was not in plain view... it was discretely placed under a table close to the floor, quite obviously an attempt to conceal its presence. We were all furious considering the violation, as we had OF COURSE been using that space to get dressed! "But don't worry", she said, "I'm the only one who sees it." Literally the opposite of reassuring. I suspect the owner may have placed the camera there to make sure unruly bridesmaids did not cause any property damage, but I strongly believe her actions were highly unethical if not 100% illegal. The only reason we didn't call the police or attempt to press charges was because we didn't want to ruin my sister's day or cause a scene that would overshadow her good memories. So if you choose this venue, I highly recommend you take a hidden camera detector with you and sweep the bridal suite before removing your clothing. Choosing Ma Maison as our wedding venue was easily one of the best decisions my fiance and I made during the wedding planning process. We toured a lot of venues (and I mean a lot) and nothing compared to Ma Maison. Something that sets this venue apart is having so many ceremony sites to choose from. The green cathedral (gazebo) is absolutely breathtaking. Once I saw it, I was sold. The venue is so beautifully decorated that it doesn't need a lot of decoration. Several of my guests remarked that it was the best wedding venue they had been to. Not only is the property stunning, but the staff at Ma Maison is AMAZING! Karen (the owner) was extremely generous with letting us use Ma Maison rentals and easily saved us thousands! Words cannot express how grateful I am for her generosity. This was the first and only venue I looked at and I have zero regrets!! The day of our wedding we received so many compliments on how beautiful the property was. Mind you we were married in the off season in January and the property was still beautiful. Our experience goes beyond that we received such genuine guidance and help from the owner Karen. We found out we were expecting and our due date was the day before our wedding. Long story short Karen was so sweet and understanding and allowed us to move our date. I had my heart set on an indoor-outdoor wedding venue and Ma Maison surely delivers that. The grounds are at your design discretion and the greenhouse backdrop for the ceremony is absolutely amazing. Working with Ma Maison was an extremely disappointing experience overall and as a bride, you should never feel uncomfortable walking into your venue on your wedding day. Yes, it's beautiful, but I'll never forget how they made me feel over the past few years. And I wish I would have gotten married anywhere else. From our first tour, we never felt welcomed by Karen or any other members of the staff. All I wanted was to have the same experience as the other brides described. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite. We were mistreated by Karen and the team on multiple occasions and never once received an apology. I can honestly say the level of disrespect from these people was degrading at times. The final straw was when they double booked my rehearsal at the venue two days before the wedding. Even though we had been booked with them for 2 years, we were the ones forced to rehearse elsewhere. We weren't informed until half an hour before our rehearsal when all of our friends and family were already on the way. Instead of an apology or an explanation, Karen berated my parents in front of our entire bridal party and literally screamed at them. She attempted to cancel my wedding twice during her outburst. She tried to justify this by throwing the fact that she had to move our wedding for us (because of the pandemic) in our face like we owed them something? She actually charged us an additional $2250 to move the wedding. During her tantrum, she proceeded to call my husband by the wrong name. This shows you how little she cared about us even though we had been working with her for so long. Her behavior was shocking and my family, friends, and I still can't believe this even happened. On my wedding day, the venue was dirty from the night before and was not professionally cleaned. A table that the Ma Maison team set up ended up falling on top of my guests. They charged me for early hours I was told would be free. My husband and I are very easy going people and almost every mishap made by this team over the last 2 years of could have been smoothed over with a simple apology. All we ever wanted was to be treated with respect. I sent her an email after the wedding expressing my feelings. I wasn't asking for anything except to be treated with some decency after over 2 years of disrespect. I received no response. read more

The atmosphere is somewhat pretty, but that is completely overshadowed by the owner, Karen, who was curt and dismissive every time we had to communicate with her. I say somewhat pretty because I understand that this venue is in hill country as opposed to downtown Austin, but that's no excuse for it to be so dirty and have bugs everywhere. My fiance and I visited this venue and fell in love with how beautiful it is there. The place was very fairytale-like, with parts of the venue feeling very much like part of French countryside. The bridal suite was spacious, and the groom's suite had ample room - which was key to us as we have a large bridal party and Jason wanted me to be spoiled. Karen gave us the run-through, but I was getting the distinct impression she was busy and even with our appointment we may have caught her at a bad time. My fiance and I disregarded this, thinking it may have just been a busy day for her. We ended up signing a contract with the venue, and sent Karen half of our rental fee and the downpayment for their required caterer, Crave. A few months in after we signed the contract, our chosen wedding coordinator e-mailed Ma Maison to confirm what date would be good for our wedding rehearsal. We heard back from the owner that we had not chosen a wedding coordinator according to the rules in their contract. Jason and I were taken aback, and researched to see where we may have taken a wrong turn. Turns out one of Ma Maison's introductory sheets given to us at our first meeting had two rules down as guidelines. The contract had a lot more rules that we had missed. Jason and I started immediately researching other wedding coordinators to meet with Ma Maison's rules, and talking about how we could get back on track with their guidelines. We also began composing an e-mail in order to help explain that we had made a mistake and were willing to find solutions in order to fix our error. Our wedding coordinator and friend told us personally that if we wanted to stay with Ma Maison that we could break our contract with her and continue doing business with Ma Maison. Unfortunately, before we could even get word back to Ma Maison about how we were trying to solve the problem, Karen not only offered us a full refund but was offering to let us go. We sent her an e-mail explaining our situation, and she reiterated how she was willing to let us go and give us our full refund. I am glad for the full refund and all, but now Jason and I are back to square one in looking for a wedding venue. They seemed awfully glad to be rid of us even with us trying to fix our error, and I don't know why. Very odd. I am sure Ma Maison's owner has her reasons. We could not have been happier with Ma Maison. We got married about 2 weeks ago. Our ceremony was supposed to be outside at the Oak Grove, but severe storms all weekend had us utilize our rain plan in the terrace. While I was initially sad that we wouldn't say "I do" under those beautiful oak trees we had a beautiful ceremony under the Trellis. The rain hitting the roof added perfectly to the ceremony and like magic stopped for the evening when we got to our vows. Cut back to about 10 months ago when we were looking at venues. We drove into Ma Maison and were immediately in awe of the green cathedral and then beautiful tuscan style architecture of the main building in the background. As we walked around the space we were shown a beautiful bridal suite, which has plenty of space to get ready, the grooms suite, with a door out to the side yard where there's corn hole, horseshoes, and other yard games for them to play while they wait, plenty of bathrooms for you and your guests, the great hall with a nice lofted area, and of course all their beautiful ceremony sites. We picked the Oak Grove as our site, because I was in love with the look of the giant oak trees behind the altar, with our rain plan in the Trellis area, which I already mentioned that we used. The thing that sold me on Ma Maison was their bell tower. There's a bell in there that you actually get to ring, which of course we did after our ceremony! Ma Maison offers a good selection of their own rentals. We ended up renting some big, old farm tables for our head table as well as some other small decor like a chandelier for the ceremony and some LED candles for decoration. The rentals are a super reasonable price and nice that you don't have to coordinate rental pick up and drop off with another vendor. About a month out we got to do our final walk-through of the venue and go over final details. Here we talked about our rain plan and the general timeline of the events the day of our wedding. We were introduced to two sweet ideas that give the newly married couple a moment to enjoy the wedding. The first was a private dinner before you go out and get introduced to your guests. This takes place in the bridal sweet and 10/10 would recommend this. It was so nice to be able to enjoy this moment with my new husband, and actually get to eat the food you pay for :). The second was a final last dance. This happens when you announce that the couple is getting ready for their departure. While people are organizing outside you and your new spouse get to have a final private dance in the empty great hall. It's a really cool photo-op and an even better quite, intimate moment that you two get to share. On the day of our wedding it was raining. I walked into our bridal suite and immediately broke into tears when I saw a small jar of rain water with a note on it. Ma Maison had collected rain water that morning and jarred it for us to keep use on our future child at their christening. It made the start of my wedding so so magical and sweet. Ma Maison was outstanding on my wedding day. The owner, Karen, along with all of her employees I interacted with were there to make my day easier, more special, and just all around better. The venue itself is ridiculously beautiful. Somewhat of a vineyard/winery feel with all the wedding magic thought of in advance. Lets be honest... Dripping Springs is not lacking when it comes to wedding venues. Ma Maison was one of the only ones that struck me as unique; and none of the others I visited seemed to be as well thought out. One of the most notable differences is the layout. Other venues felt incredibly cramped after viewing the large, sweeping grounds of Ma Maison. I also loved that it was not visible from the street; being tucked back away from passer-bys gave it a much more intimate feel. There are multiple areas to get married inside, outside, or even on a terrace if that suits your fancy! All of these areas are open for your guests to roam about, which is something I appreciated during cocktail hour. Ringing the bell in the bell tower was one of my favorite parts of our ceremony, and I LOVED sneaking into the reception through the tower! My guests were so surprised! It should also be said that during the planning process Ma Maison was always available to answer any questions I had. Karen even caught some of the rainwater on my wedding day and gave it to me in a decorated jar! That is the kind of care you're getting at Ma Maison. Top notch! The only area I think they could improve on was the lack of WiFi. I didn't think this would matter to us because I didn't plan to be surfing the web or anything, however, we spent a good amount of time trying to get our hotspots to work to entertain the flower girl all day and to play our music! Could be easily avoided by making a playlist in advance and being more creative with entertainment for the FG. I'd just do this way in advance though because I just don't know when I would have done any of that right before the wedding! I HIGHLY recommend this venue. This is a nice venue that provided a great backdrop to my sons wedding. Unfortunately, we had to ask the manager to turn on the air conditioning in the chapel where we were taking pictures before and after the service. Worst of all, while the wedding party was taking pictures, all the alcohol was removed from the bridal and grooms dressing rooms and a card, addressed to the pastor with a valuable gift card was opened and stolen. Ma Maison was the perfect venue for my daughter's December wedding. From the stunning grounds, to the elegant Great Hall and the beautiful chapel, the venue had everything we were looking for. There are three beautiful outdoor ceremony sites to choose from- plus a lovely chapel. One of the many reasons we chose this venue is because the chapel can serve as a backup rain plan without having to rearrange the cocktail and reception areas. My daughter and her fiancé had originally chosen an outdoor site for their ceremony, but had to change last minute due to weather. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and the ceremony was beautiful inside the lovely chapel. The cocktail hour under the twinkle lights of the trellis was charming and exactly as we had envisioned. The Great Hall, with it's beautiful chandeliers and staircase, was a stunning place to host the reception. The guests were raving about the beauty and elegance of the entire evening! We had a guest count of almost 300, and all areas were large enough for our guests to move around comfortably. The venue is located in the beautiful Hill Country less than an hour from Austin, which gives you access to wonderful vendors. Soho, the catering company we chose from the preferred vendor list, offered exceptional service and we were told by many of our guests that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. The bridal suite is spacious and beautiful and the groomsmen loved the the outdoor area and games attached to the groom's den. The attention to detail in every area is second to none. If you get married here... prepare your patience and your pocketbook for the planning process. You'll need them both. I've waited over a year to write this review and I'm finally doing it! Karen is awful to work with. This venue is the SPIRIT AIRLINES of wedding venues --- not only do they charge for every "extra" little thing... but if you question them as to why, they snap back at you as if you don't have the right to ask about what you're paying for. Good news is... if you ask TOO many questions they'll basically fire you and void your contract so at least I was able to get out of having to deal with Karen for the 6 months of my wedding planning process. Want to know why they sent me an email telling me they were no longer going to host our wedding even though we'd had the place reserved? My (now) husband asked why they wanted to charge over a hundred dollars to turn on the fireplace. Yup! You have to pay extra to actually USE the fireplace they have there. And when I called to ask her about it again, she said that it was a "nominal" fee considering that we can use all there furniture when normally other places make you pay for it - that didn't answer my question, but well done in trying to divert my attention. I'd go in to more detail but what's the point... Wedding planning is stressful! And they only made it worse. We immediately fell in love with Ma Maison when we went on our initial tour last year. The entire property is beautiful and elegant and offers several options for photos and ceremony sites (we went with The Grove.) Karen, the owner, was a wedding planner prior to opening Ma Maison, and she clearly used her experience to think of every detail when designing the property. The bridal suite was gorgeous, the guys had yard games to keep them entertained, and our rain plan--should we have had to use it--was gorgeous as well. I looked at a couple other places, and nothing compared to Ma Maison and everything they offer. When I saw the Green Cathedral and Great Hall, I just HAD to have my wedding here. Karen is amazing and truly wants to make your day special. Karen and her staff must meet with tons and tons of couples, but we always felt like their top priority from the start. The bridal suite is beautiful, spacious and was the perfect place for my girls and me to get ready! I highly recommend the Luxe package which gives you extra time in the morning and you are provided mimosas, a light breakfast, and lunch. When you book the venue a built-in rain/weather plan is included. Luckily the weather cleared up for our big day, but it was a huge relief knowing that if it did rain, we were covered. My fiancé and I recently got married at Ma Maison and we could not have been happier with our decision! The venue is absolutely gorgeous, and we loved all the options for each part of your day. We got married in the Chapel, took most of our pictures at the Green Cathedral, and had our reception in the Great Hall. We really appreciated that Ma Maison only schedules one event per day so we had the entire place to ourselves! They also give you the BEST preferred vendor list which was extremely helpful so I didn't have to start from scratch searching for vendors. My husband and I initially planned for a Houston wedding where we (along with the majority of my family and our friends) are from. We toured a few venues in the city but weren't completely sold on any. Before making a final decision, we decided to go on a weekend trip to the hill country with a few friends while also stopping by Ma Maison's annual Open House. The owner, Karen Moise, was kind enough to squeeze us in for a private tour the day before the event. As we drove in to the property my husband, friends, and I were instantly blown away by the beautifully kept and vast property-something we hadn't seen with the other venues. We didn't think it could get any better until Karen took us for a tour through the rest of the property. This venue had it ALL- a spacious and charming bridal suite with it's own private patio for my bridesmaids and hair/makeup team, a groom's suite with its own lawn/patio, an amazing high-ceiling hall adorned with beautiful chandeliers, but most importantly, several site options for ceremony, reception, and cocktail hour; of note, this venue has a lovely covered trellis that not only makes for an intimate ceremony site but also a perfect option in the event it rains on your wedding day (this was our "Plan B" ceremony site). The versatility this venue offered, brought an end to our venue search. Karen was so sweet and thoughtful enough to also provide me with a bunch of extra wedding magazines she had, a list of preferred vendors, and helpful wedding planning advice at the end of our tour. The following day (Open House), we had the opportunity to meet several local vendors and see (and taste!) their work. We also had the opportunity to see a fully decorated venue, which only reinforced our decision-we booked a week later for the following Spring (3.23.18). FUN FACT: My husband and I were actually married later that summer by Karen herself!! We initially planned to do this in court but were delighted when Karen informed us she was ordained and offered to be our officiant! We had our special and private ceremony in July (2017) at Ma Maison. Karen made it extra special by making me my own bouquet (this woman is seriously multi-talented), and bringing out wedding cake and bubbly after officially becoming husband and wife :D. Fast forward 8 months later, we were married (again) at the same ceremony site (Green Cathedral) in front of all our family and friends. To this day, our family and friends still comment about our amazing wedding. Even our friend's friends ask about our wedding location after seeing social media pictures/vids! Karen, her staff, and this venue will forever hold a special place in our hearts. I can't thank her enough for going above and beyond; selecting this venue was without a doubt one of the best decisions we made during the wedding planning process. P.S. a little FYI, Ma Maison also has a vast selection of rentals, from rustic to classic. I am a Bride that went out to look at this venue. The staff were unfriendly and rude. I had an appointment with Karen's daughter when we arrived at the venue she was still with another bride who had gotten stuck in the mud (Do not follow your iPhone directions), So Karen then showed us around the grounds but i felt like she was distracted. Multiple times Karen answered her phone during mid-sentence with out apologizing or excusing her self. Not once did she introduce her self to my Mother or Bridesmaids that where with me. It was just an awful experience. The venue I'm sure will be wonderful but the staff in my eyes will not put you first. read more

Let me begin by saying that I took wedding planning very seriously and researched every aspect of every single venue in Houston and Austin for months before I made my decision. Ma Maison was miles above every other venue. There are other venues that pretend like they are the perfect place, but Ma Maison actually lives up to it. I believe that the venue is the most important part of your wedding (other than marrying the love of your life!) and Ma Maison made my wedding feel like a fairy tale. My guests came from 2 different continents and over 25 different states and a month later, I am STILL hearing from my guests from all over the world how Ma Maison was the most unique wedding venue they have ever seen. It truly is that special. If you are lucky enough to get a date here (this place is popular...book as soon as you get engaged!) do not even hesitate. There will be plenty of decisions you will make as a bride and believe me when I tell you this one is a no brainer. Venue: The grounds are stunning- it feels as if you have your own castle for the day. My guests were spread out over the beautiful trellis with string lights during cocktail hour, my mom and her friends relaxed near the large firepit, guests were taking pictures by the huge fountain on the lake and I was able to have a snow cone food truck come in and set up near the large oak trees in the grove. I had my ceremony at the Green Cathedral and it made wedding decor inexpensive because with the setting so gorgeous, you really don't need to add anything. Other venues require you to spend tons of money dressing up the space to make it stand out, whereas my bridesmaids were floored when they walked into Ma Maison on the wedding day.. and that's before we even decorated! Communication: Karen was absolutely wonderful. She was always quick to email me back (same day!) when I had questions, never got frustrated when I had a million things to ask, and offered up her favorite vendors to make my planning go smoothly when I had to push up the date 4 months early. She sees you as a person and not as a customer and does everything she can to make sure that this really is the best day of your life. Cost: Surprisingly, this venue is the most inexpensive I came across . Other venues tried to trick me by starting off with a low cost and then building in insane prices for the chairs/tables/tents, etc. Ma Maison included everything so the price you see is really the price you get. As an event planner it is important to have venues that are flexible and versatile. I have worked at Ma Maison a couple of times now and I really love this venue. It is a gorgeous space with many different options for ceremonies and the main hall has so many different ways to make it beautiful. The setting was designed to be gorgeous as is, but it is a simply fabulous palette to host any type of event, weddings, social or corporate events would all be stunning in this space! Karen and Ken are great to work with and I look forward to working at this awesome wedding venue again! I would recommend this venue to any bride! read more

I want to start out with the positive...The venue is absolutely stunning. All the guests commented on the beauty of Ma Maison. However, the behind the scenes planning and interactions with Ma Maison (Karen-owner) were anything but pleasant. 1. First meeting-got tons of info and was informed that Karen now only allows Crave to cater the wedding (they used to have a list of about 5 vendors that you could choose from). Now, let me say this, Crave was GREAT and had great food, but they are expensive. 2. Ma Maison has a 3 day cancellation policy after signing, but it took Crave over a week to get me the actual numbers. I called Karen to see if she would be OK w/ me using one of the less expensive vendors that was on the list previously. She told me NO, but would be willing to refund my deposit and cancel my reservation. (I get it...a policy is a policy, but this was my first wedding, so I didn't fully understand what it meant to HAVE TO use their catering company). Also, was quite overwhelmed with Karen's inability to compromise and just saying that we can cancel, as if it's no big deal. 3. It was also during one of my initial conversations that Karen recommended I get a new wedding planner and she has many she could recommend. (My wedding planner was GREAT and was referred to me by my jeweler). (Also...apparently Karen now has a list of wedding planners that she will only work with---You must use them, or you don't get to use Ma Maison) 4. When setting up engagement pics at Ma Maison, you have VERY limited times available if you actually want to take pics inside (we were offered Tuesday-Sunday 10-5...but NOT on a wedding day, regardless of time. So, that leaves you Monday through Thursday or the occasional Friday/Sunday). If those times don't work, or if you need more time, they will charge you $250/hour. Again, not easy/friendly to work with and again they try to nickel and dime you...even though you're paying $7,900 to use the venue! 5. ****This got me the most***. When you get a caterer, you usually have to pay for staff (event staff, photog...etc) to eat during the event, which is all normal. However, at Ma Maison, YOU ALSO HAVE TO PAY FOR KAREN, HER HUSBAND AND THEIR CHILD TO EAT!. Yes, it's in the contract. Apparently, Crave takes over the kitchen, so Karen and family have nowhere to eat. God forbid they actually eat out one night...I mean, you're only paying them $7,900!!! 6. ****Apparently Karen was not even there on my wedding day, yet I still had to pay for her meal***. 7. Karen's Husband was there to eat his free meal. I know this because he complained about the volume of the music. YOU ARE A WEDDING VENUE IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE...ON A SATURDAY NIGHT. DEAL WITH IT!!! (note: our volume was not louder nor was the DJ asked to raise the volume or be any different than any other wedding). 8. NO WIFI. Yes, you're paying $7,900 and many guests want to upload pics that night or just use their phone...but although there is WIFI there, they WON'T give out the code. This is a big deal since many don't get good reception out in Dripping Springs, so communication can be difficult w/ no signal and a venue that won't share their WIFI. 9. A lot of the stuff you see when you take a tour is beautiful, but don't get duped. You have to pay to use it...(fire pit, wine barrels...etc.). Again, I'm paying $7,900 and the items are already there! Do you need to bleed me for even more money? Too Long Didn't Read: Ma Maison is beautiful, but Karen is VERY difficult to deal with. She is not in the least bit accommodating as she claims on her website. I think Karen should start appreciating her clientele more. Your wedding planning and wedding should not be made more difficult by the Venue. I think there are too many other options to deal with all the extra stress and nonsense (and getting nickel and dimed) that comes along with Ma Maison. read more

We booked Ma Maison as our wedding venue before it was completed because we believed in the vision of the owners - and because of the beautiful property and the wonderful hill country views. It was special to be able to visit it during the construction process and see the beauty grow. We got married there in April 2014, and we were one of the first couples to get the honor to enjoy the venue. It all came together as promised. The terrace area for the cocktail hour was a wonderful place for our guests to arrive, and the large hall was amazing for our reception. There are three outside ceremony sites, and we chose to get married in from of "The Grand Cathedral," which is an elaborate, beautiful structure that the owner constructed by hand. The owners, Ken and Karen Moise, were great to work with. They didn't mind our dropbys during construction, which helped my now wife's nerves about committing to a place still being built. They recommended some excellent vendors to us, especially our coordinator Alisha Anderson from Texas Hill Country Events. Karen and Alisha combined forces to make our wedding run smoothly, despite last minute timeline changes that we created. There may or may not have been a helicopter and fireworks - marrying an only daughter turned out to be extra exciting - and they adapted to all of this with grace. One of the first things that Karen said to us was, "Ma Maison is French for 'my house.' On your wedding day, we want you to feel like this is your home." We certainly felt at home, not only because of the wonderful venue, but because of how we were treated by the Moises every step of the way. read more

I knew this was the venue for me before it was even done being built. It was a relief to find a beautiful venue that isn't totally country like so many are in Dripping Springs, i.e. rustic barns. You are allowed to use the beautiful lanterns, tables and other decor included in the cost, and the owners are like your family by the time the wedding day rolls around. Karen the owner was a great friend during all the planning, and always made time for us when we visited the venue. If you are looking for an elegant, versatile venue, you've found it! read more

I got married at Ma Maison on 11/7/2015 and it was a DREAM! My husband and I knew this venue was the one right away. It offers everything you could possibly want/need in a venue and it is absolutely breathtaking. We have not stopped receiving compliments on our wedding venue.
