After touring the property with the owner, we decided this was the special place we wanted to tie the knot, so we quickly signed the paperwork and sent our deposit to secure our Friday wedding date. Initially, I felt very confident in the owner, Leslie, and was extremely excited to be working with him. That all changed in the few months leading up to our wedding date. My husband and I discussed with Leslie in person, on two separate occasions and once via email, about us staying the Thursday night before our wedding and having our bridal party stay in the various beds/bedrooms on the property. When Leslie called us the week before our wedding to finalize everything, he claimed that he had no idea we were having other people come and stay and proceeded to tell me it was "a misunderstanding on your part" and that he would require not only an extra one thousand dollars, but that the cottage, that was set to house half of our party, did not have running hot water. We were left to scramble at the last minute to find a new place for our family. Fast forward to the Thursday before our wedding: we get there after the 3pm check in time to start setting up and decorating, and the pavilion is a wreck. The ceiling and walls were caked in dirt, there were leaves and dirt all over the floor and the tables were not set up, as per our contract. We did not complain, just grabbed the broom and swept and set the tables up ourselves. The next day, we were left scrambling for trash bags (per our contract, the venue supplied trash bags), there were strings of lights that were out, and there was a dead bird in the pavilion. As the evening went on, the owner Leslie, showed up towards the last few hours of our reception and proceeded to bombard our day of coordinator with questions about trash clean up and haul off, after we had already informed him that we hired people to take care of everything. We did not notice until a few days later, that Leslie had sent my husband an email on the night of our wedding stating that we should "go ahead and send him $250 for clean up." It did not end there. A week later, my husband reached out to Jack, the property manager, to ask about a few missing items we thought might have been left on the property. Jack then informed us that one of our guests had popped a balloon with confetti in it, in the grass, in which he stated we should "bring a vacuum" to clean it up. Once my husband confronted him with the various issues we had that previous week at our wedding, Jack quickly turned the blame to the owner saying that "Leslie is in over his head at times." The amount of unprofessionalism shown by these two men was, and still is, extremely disappointing. The owner was clearly unorganized and would frequently confuse me with the Saturday bride. My husband and I were questioned on whether we made our deposit and final payment the week before our wedding and requested receipts. I found out a few weeks after my wedding, that the owner was trying to blame me, as the bride, for the lack of basic housekeeping for his business (bedsheets changed, beds made, toilets scrubbed, floors swept and mopped). It has taken me a few months to write this review because every time I thought about my wedding, it would bring negative reminders of the unnecessary stress and issues that were added by the venue. I am now able to focus on the only positive, which is marrying my husband. The Winfield Inn is an extremely unique and gorgeous property, but the owner and property manager, in my opinion, are not worth the money, or stress. Until the owner hires someone to take over management, I will not be recommending this venue to anyone in the near future.

There are walkways paved with marriage bricks from donors, hidden corners to explore, and even a wizarding academy that both of my girls immediately wanted to join. I had to remind them, "That is not what we are doing today. What we are doing today is making sure your sister has an idea of how we're going to decorate for her wedding day." But honestly? My girls did not want to leave. One of them had pickleball at 4:30 in Austin and completely missed it, and my very pregnant daughter had already skipped her nap and still hadn't had lunch. I kept saying, "Don't you need to go play pickleball? Don't you need to go take a nap and eat?" Nope. They still didn't want to leave. Yeah. It's that kind of spot. There was something to find around every corner. There was beer being served at 1 p.m., and the whole place felt so relaxed and joyful that my very pregnant daughter almost considered taking a drink. Even the door had a door sign. Which honestly? Perfect. It's a sign. On a door. About doors that are signs. I saw the signs, y'all. You should definitely book here. It's free, beautiful, and you're never gonna wanna go home. I also had the chance to watch a bride and her family trickle in, and it was truly magical. The chapel itself is beautiful, but the whole experience felt bigger than the building. It felt warm, human, peaceful, and full of story. That day, I also met both Ana, a photographer connected with Chapel Dulcinea, and officiant David James Nutter, and both left an impression. Even though I didn't watch Ana actually photograph the wedding, I did get to watch her set up and talk about the chapel with so much care and warmth. Later, I looked at her wedding photography online, and her work is breathtaking. Truly. It has the kind of beauty and tenderness you would expect from someone who is not just talented, but deeply caring. She also offers her services at a very decent price, which honestly says a lot about her heart. Her work looks like luxury, but her spirit feels generous. I also met officiant David James Nutter, and hearing his story was incredibly moving. We spoke about how he grew up in the Orthodox church and how that journey shaped him into someone deeply committed to serving people from all walks of life. His warmth, kindness, and openness stood out immediately. He listened thoughtfully as I shared parts of my own story and even followed up afterward with supportive messages. That kind of care is rare. If you're looking for a wedding venue that offers more than beautiful scenery--one that creates space for meaningful moments, welcomes officiants like David and Ana with quirky discoveries and authentic connection--I highly recommend Chapel Dulcinea. We arranged for a non-traditional chair set up (they have really much white chairs that don't really need anything) and for the gas lanterns to be lit for the ceremony, and the set up was completely flawless when we arrived. The views are stunning pretty much any time of year, just perfect for amazing Hill Country photos, and you don't need a whole lot of extra decor...nature has it covered. We brought in only 2 black metal lanterns donned with candles and florals and perched them on the wood stumps on either side of the bell tower door at the front the for the ceremony, and it was perfect in every way. We highly recommend this location for a small wedding-you won't be disappointed!

TW: HIDDEN CAMERA!…read more My sister was married here a few years back. The wedding was beautiful and reception space lovely.... So why the low rating? THEY HAD A HIDDEN CAMERA IN THE BRIDAL SUITE! We found the small, cube-shaped camera after the wedding had started... so after we had been using the space for the entire day to dress. The camera's light was on, which indicated it was live recording. When confronted, the staff member on site (possibly the owner?) stated that the area in question was "not expected to be used for changing", and therefore they were "allowed" to have a camera. Imagine that... a bridal suite, (behind locked doors no less), that is not for changing?? Complete & utter BS. And what's worse is that the woman (I think her name was Karen?) was completely dismissive of our concerns, & didn't even BLINK when we asked her about it! Like it was common practice that she and the staff spied on every female wedding party! Meanwhile, there was ZERO signage to indicate there was a camera in that room or that we were being recorded. Plus, the camera was not in plain view... it was discretely placed under a table close to the floor, quite obviously an attempt to conceal its presence. We were all furious considering the violation, as we had OF COURSE been using that space to get dressed! "But don't worry", she said, "I'm the only one who sees it." Literally the opposite of reassuring. I suspect the owner may have placed the camera there to make sure unruly bridesmaids did not cause any property damage, but I strongly believe her actions were highly unethical if not 100% illegal. The only reason we didn't call the police or attempt to press charges was because we didn't want to ruin my sister's day or cause a scene that would overshadow her good memories. So if you choose this venue, I highly recommend you take a hidden camera detector with you and sweep the bridal suite before removing your clothing.
