This nursery is one of the best by far. They have so many varieties of plants, flowers, vines, bonsai, shrubs, cactus, trees, succulents, you name it! They also have an indoor area with decorations for the yard and there are water features here and there. The staff walks all over and all personnel we saw kindly asked if we needed help finding anything and were knowledgeable about the plants we were looking at for pollinators. We got some great local honey from a nice man there selling it during the day on the weekend. Definitely wear your walking shoes because this place is huge. A few areas could use big fans to help move air but the heat is to be expected this time of year. I love the iron features (butterflies, turtles, birds etc.) to hang on fences or house but they are a little pricey. read more

If you haven't been to Maas' Nursery you need to go! We looked all over for lemon and lime trees and finally found them at Maas. We also bought two blueberry bushes that already had green blueberries on them. The nursery is not well groomed, but the selection of plants, fountains, and lawn furniture makes up for it. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It definitely worth the drive. read more

They have just about any possible plant you can imagine spread across 8 acres of property! I would advise coming on a cooler day. Grab a handtruck and just walk around. You may not even buy anything but the experience is worth it in itself. And the best part is it's free! Of course inevitably you will probably end up buying something. I was so surprised at how organize this place is. They have all kinds of things including outdoor furniture, decorations, and just about anything you need to landscape or make a beautiful yard or garden. WOW!!! This place is a mecca, so be sure to come with time and a fist full of cash--big cash!!! There seems to be every flower, tree, decoration, statues, honey, and vegetation that one could imagine. I mean, look at all those 5 star reviews. This place is truly a hidden gem in Seabrook. I've saved this nursery on my Yelp bookmarks for a while now and with the weather at a ~cool~ 85 degrees yesterday, we ventured out. Originally, I was planning on going during a weekday to avoid a crowd, but even on a Saturday afternoon (between 1-4pm), there's plenty of area to social distance and wander through the gardens at your own pace. We came into contact with two employees while we were there and had a great experience with each interaction. We asked one of the employees where the cactus were and instead of pointing us in the right direction (which would've sufficed- we weren't in a rush), she walked us directly there and was happy to do so. She also saw us at check out and followed up on the plants we picked as we were waiting in line. The cashier was also friendly and made sure we found everything we needed. I also feel like I need to touch on the variety of not only plants but planters, garden decor, and fountains! Holy Moly! From dinosaurs to hanging monkeys to Talavera pottery. There's definitely something for every gardener out there. While a lot of the items or themes are grouped together, you'll find eclectic pieces throughout the grounds, so keep an eye out for statues hidden in bushes or in trees! (would be a fun place to play I Spy imo) We ended picking up three small cactuses... cacti.. (whatever your preference to the plural of cactus lol), a few wall decorations, and a hummingbird feeder cleaning brush- we've been looking everywhere for one! They also have a ton of fertilizer, insect/pest deterrents, seed packets, and gardening supplies in the building where the registers are. Overall, I'd highly recommend stopping by if you live in HTX for a day trip, or if you're already near the coast like us, stop by even if just to browse and watch butterflies! read more

My husband and I stopped by on 01/14/2023 just to take a stroll around and we were in there for almost an hour just astonished by all these beautiful plants! Mass Nursery is very large and has everything you may need for the yard or garden. I know very little about gardening but Maas Nursery has our yard looking better than ever. The employees here at Maas Nursery will walk you to the plant you are looking for. If the employee does not know about the plant you are asking about will get an employee that can answer your questions. They even helped to load my big bush in my vehicle. I was really taken aback by how Maas has changed since I was last here (years ago). It is like Lowes and Home Depot level of plants, not really anything special or unique any more. I understand that I went on a Monday - and it was a busy weekend so stock wasn't totally organized. However, staff wasn't knowledgeable or really interested in helping to locate plants ("over there in the perennials maybe" was the level of assistance mostly - and I had to ask where "there" was as they pointed at a building). Prices were great on 4 inch pots ~ $2.29 to $2.89. That's a good deal. Veg plants were decent - but not anything different than your typical Burpee selection, sadly. There WAS a good selection of very hot peppers if that's your thing. Everything else? There was lots of "don't know how much that is but the checkout person will tell you" from the staff and lots of $50+ price tags for plants that weren't particularly healthy or big. Several people standing around the check out sounding like they were going to dispute how much they paid, and I had to make a correction to a price I was being charged as well. Yes, it's a busy season. Yes, it's a Monday. Still - I long for what Maas used to be (including their status as a knowledgeable source for natives) and won't make the trip back again I think. read more

I live a minute down the road from this place and come spring, I spend most of my free time wandering around Maas. The guys and gals that work here are incredibly knowledgeable and some of the nicest, most helpful people. If you have any questions I recommend you seek out Jennifer. She can tell you where the coolest stuff (that will be difficult to find elsewhere) is, and how to care for it. She's awesome. The grounds are beautiful. Expect local art, fountains, and a dog friendly atmosphere. I have purchased several trees from Maas and they seem to fare much better than the trees purchased from Home Depot or HGC. I have found cool stuff like Venus slipper orchids, Hong Kong orchid trees and grafted plum trees with several varieties of plums on a single tree. Maas has plenty of organic gardening supplies and organic herbs and vegetables. This place is therapeutic. The Maas employees and owners are the best, definitely check this place out if you haven't already. Bring your dog too! read more

I needed help picking out some plants to fill my flower beds after the freeze killed most of mine. I knew I needed to have an appointment but long story short my husband sprung us redoing our flower beds on me and I didn't have time to make an appointment. I got to Maas first thing Saturday morning hoping someone could spend a few minutes with me. A very nice lady named Pat said she are a few people short today but give me 15 minutes to line some staff out and I will help you out. She walked me around, made some great suggestions and drew me a diagram on where to place the plants. You cannot get this type of service or knowledge at other nursery's. Just had the worst customer service experience with an employee named Jennifer. We ordered a flat of loriope for which we received a call that it was available for pick up. When we asked her about it, she acted as if we were bothering her. She didn't even bother to stand up. She asked us who called us as if we should know. She made a half-hearted PA announcement, and no one responded. We left without the plants. Because of her, we do not plan to return. read more

If you don't live close like me, Maas is worth the trip. This nursery is an experience! If you just need a specific butterfly host plant, bonsai, tree, or putting in a new bed, come on down. Very friendly knowledgeable staff in a gorgeous setting. The resident trees and various statues & fountains, trellis, pottery and garden rooms make this a great destination. The Galleria of Gardening. The Champs-Élysées of Chrysanthemums. I can think of no other nursery whereupon I wanted to stay for hours upon hours, soaking in the sheer horticultural wonder that was. To say that I was blown away by the sheer volume of items available would be an understatement. From the moment of entry, whereupon you saw the standard St. Francis statues to the towering Tiki Man statue face, your eyes will communicate to your brain that you are about to enter a shopping experience unlike any other and to open up your wallet because, quite frankly, you will be staying here for a very, very long while. I came simply to take a look, since my close friend Nancy of Friendswood bugged me to no end to venture outside the 610 Loop and give the place a try (I have been planning to grow grapes, and I needed some expert assistance). Let me say this, I will come back here again. And again. And again. What I figured to be a five minute stay tops turned into a two hour wander-thon whereupon I learned more about what I would need to start my projects (they had a guy there who just does vine plants along with citrus trees) and I felt confident that after I built my set-up, this would be my only stop. The variety of gardening statues, clay pots, freaky-deaky African garden masks and wind chimes the size of pipe organs (I mean that in the literal sense, with no bull, the chimes had pipes easily four feet to six feet long and hanging by rope from an oak tree) blew my mind - but not before a full blitzkreig assault on the senses. The sheer volume of colors, scents, fragrance, the sounds of the water running through all the fountains combined to put you at ease. Gone was the stress of work. Gone was any thought of traffic on Westheimer or the stupid train blocking your way on Richmond. You are instantly transported to a nursery that boasts every herb known to man, every pepper plant that sets fire to your palate, every citrus tree from which you love to get fruit. They even have corn - yes - corn, ready to plant and sprouting ears. That shocked the living daylights out of me. Suffice it to say, my mission to seek to know when the next set of grape varietals would be in led me to the owner who actually walks the grounds, interacts with customers, and has open letter to you on the website. I found out he was a fellow Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of '73, and that made me feel even more at home. If you want a master horticulturist, then hell yes they come from the nation's leading agricultural and horticultural university. Sort of makes sense. His touch of customer service was comforting, and he and his family live on the premises (yes, the grounds are that big) so, yeah, he knows his inventory all right. After talking with him and knowing I needed to wait a few weeks, I checked out some items for my buddy Irfan S. who called me right after I spoke with the owner - specifically, bamboo plants. I thought to myself, "yeah right, if they have that then I am freaking Jewish." Well, call me Gilbert Steinberg, grab me a yamaka, and get me a private medical practice and a bagel. They had more than bamboo plants, they had at least five (that I counted) different varieties of bamboo. From the standard landscape bounding style of the Punting Pole bamboo to the invasive hedge bamboo. Exiting the bamboo area after determining what Irfan needed for his house, I found mango tree saplings and pomengranate saplings. I was shocked, happy, and after seeing them, I saw about two dozen varieties of lime trees. It was a horticultural delight, to say the least. Walking back through the main reception building, I found everything the gardener - amateur to pro - needs in the various tools and products of the trade. I was happy to see that the shopping cart of choice being wheeled around was the old standard red Radio Flyer Wagon. Having eighteen hours of horticulture under my belt and six of agricultural management I thought I had seen some pretty darn impressive set-ups. No matter if you are an experienced green-thumber or just starting to learn the ropes of the viticultural or horticultural arts, you will be welcomed, guided, and provided with the expertise, tools, and supplies you need to make your projects - from herbs to full rose gardens - come out spectacular. Very nice nursery with beautiful healthy plants but so over priced we left with nothing but beautiful pictures

We've been coming here for the past few years due to the size and selection. We used to buy a lot of plants. We went this past week and were blown away by the prices. This is now officially a look for ideas and buy elsewhere nursery. I realize prices have gone up everywhere, but there are 20 to 50% higher than any other nursery. read more

Love love love Maas nursery. We have been coming here for the past 5 years. When we moved into our home 5 years ago we bought three rose bushes, and all of our bushes for the front.... fast forward to now and they are still looking good and the roses have survived multiple freezes and fungi.
