Maas nursery is huge!!!! A lot to choose from that's for sure! We walked around checking things out and I did feel overwhelmed a bit. It was tough finding someone to ask questions for a novice like myself. But did find someone who was very helpful. We just picked some things that look pretty. We have had our flower beds re-done so we need way more filler plants, looking forward to going back! The guy that cleaned our beds recommended Maas. He said they have the best selection and he was right. On the weekends they have a guy selling honey, I bought some of that too and it's delicious! Anything you need to refresh your yard they have it! Statues, beautiful ornamental pots and such. Will be going back! Maybe much earlier in the morning. read more

If you've never been to Maas Nursery and landscaping you need to plan a trip! We mainly come every spring to pick out vegetable plants for our garden. Maas has been around for years and they specialize in Texas plants as well as other plants, shrubs, trees, and flowers. I say they specialize in Texas floria because of our extreme weather conditions here in the South. They are more resistant to drought, cold, floods, hurricanes, etc.... If you are planning on getting trees and shrubs for Landscaping your new home, or just re-doing your landscaping, Maas is your place! You can plant your Texas varieties and forget about them because they'll survive what ever the weather throws at them!!! They have so much to see and do here, They even have classes on different things during the year. They also carry a lot of garden and wall art for your outdoor areas! Just a really cool place to visit. They even have a harden prayer area located on the grounds as well as professional landscaping services. If your planting a spring, or fall vegetable garden like we do, they carry all kinds of vegetable plants as well as a big selection of herbs too! Plant heaven!! They have pretty much everything you would look for in this zone! Several types of lavender. This is my first time to grow lavender and all of my lavender from Maas is doing really well and smells so good! It's also just a beautiful oasis to walk around in and look at all of the beautiful specimens they have for sale. read more

Ok been here many times. Staff is friendly and the selection is huge. I was disappointed last visit at the selection of Succulents though. The place is acres big and I thing sometimes the plants are not in the best condition. I understand that though just be aware. I don't think you will find a bigger selection anywhere in Texas most likely and if you have a big budget thay have some amazing decore and large unique plants. Go early when it's cool because you will be outside and hey it's Texas. read more

Buying from Maas is a very expensive mistake. Very, very pricey plants that are not well cared for. I bought a lot from this nursery, brought the plants home and watch them die. Most of them were infected by fungi and a host of diseases. They ended up infecting and killing my established garden. Never again. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at Maas however yesterday I was irritated. My children and I dug through your "pot graveyard" to find pieces that might work for a fairy garden. The sign in front of this graveyard stated "50c per pound for broken pots/shards" I brought up a pot that had a big chip out of the side. She (cashier) would not honor the price because she said "it will still hold dirt." Well...if I pulled it out of your "sale rubbage crate", you should honor the price. Fix the sign back there to say something about "chipped" pots being 10% off and NOT the 50c/pound as stated presently. That would be more fair. So I didn't buy that pot for your measly $3 off...you can put it back in the graveyard. read more

Buyer beware. Maas Nursery offer no guarantees on their plants, ever. I purchased two trees and planted them side by side in November. One tree flourished and bloomed, the other never showed signs of life this spring. I was told they offer no guarantee under any conditions regardless of circumstances. read more

This nursery used to be very good. They have a great selection. However, lately service is terrible. The plants are not price marked, the staff are not very willing to give information about a plant, and as for getting help with moving them - that does not happen. Even when I told them I had some mobility issues, they were very grumpy. 2-3 year ago, I bought a plant from them and one of their staff helped me find the plan, wrapped it , and helped move it to my care. This time, everyone was grumpy, they told me the wrong price (even after inquiry) and after I had lugged a big tree to the check out area, they told me the price is three times what I was told first. No one was willing to help. As compared to this, the Tom Thumbs nursery in Galveston is awesome - prices are better and service is beyond wonderful. read more

Beautiful, peaceful. lots of beautiful plants and lovely people work here. The first Saturday of every month at 7:45 is prayer in the garden. we have a praise and worship time and pray for each other. just a walk amongst the flowers and into the woods area give you a very calming sense of peace. I am very, very disappointed with Maas. I know they have a good reputation and that's why we went to them for reworking (landscaping) our flower beds at our home. I want to be fair, our experience may not be normal for them, but it is what happened. I can only rate based on my own experience. We spent months going back and forth to get our estimate and arrangement. Many times I had to go in to see them personally because my emails, or phone calls were not responded to. Finally we got an estimate we were willing to go with and in April, we said ok let's do it. And nothing. Nada. No response. My theory is they really are not interested in doing modest homes, they only want to landscape high-end homes or mansions. We spent a lot of time with them and now I have had to go a different direction to get my work done. read more

You might also spy a few African masks, Chinese swords, gems and minerals, gigantic lawn statues (Buddha is one), several hundred decorative pots, two donkeys, two tortoises, and a well-mannered cat (not for sale). For plants, the place is tops for selection and quality, miles beyond any chain garden retailer. Although I think Maas Nursery took a bit of a beating from Ike, the place is still an amazing nursery. I look forward to the day when the animals return. This is a place to go when you have some time to spend strolling, looking, and exploring. Your kids won't even mind shopping as you round each corner to a different botanical setting. The staff's knowledge is unsurpassed, and they have never minded lending a hand for inspiration. The goods are overall a bit pricey, but I have found that what I have purchased from Maas is of great quality and has thrived in my gardens more so than the large chain garden centers. What a fun time deciding what plants to take home with me! Ive never seen such a huge selection of succulents. There are veggies and herbs and trees and pond supplies and anything you can imagine for a beautiful outdoor space. All the plants are so healthy and beautiful. Prices aren't inexpensive, but they stock items you don't see everywhere so it's worth it. Maas is a relaxing, tranquil place so even those who aren't into plants can still have an enjoyable time. Out of all the nurseries, this is the best. Everytime I'm out that way, I MUST stop by. Even if it's for 15 minutes. I absolutely love this place because: The indoor building has artisan furniture (upstairs), decorative tiles for your patio, and windchimes. The downstairs have tribal masks, seeds, air plants, gardening tools, etc. VERY eclectic! Souvenirs from around the world can be found there. Outside: There's so many plants, from trees, to shrubs, to vines, cacti, and everything in between in almost every color variation. There are fountains, vases, tikis, trellis, fountains, gazebos, koi pond/bridges, giant garden statues, everything. If you can think it up for your outdoor needs, they probably have it. Their selections are wide (plants, pots, decorations) and the prices are decent - though I've found some items that are a lot cheaper at he Houston garden center. A magical place to browse for obviously plants but also garden decor, landscaping, and seeds. Beautiful artwork, sculptures, and fountains abound as do trees, shrubs, flowers, herbs, etc... Plenty of bees and lizards enjoy the offerings as well but that simply makes the visit feel so full of life. We just came for a few herbs and tomatoes for our small patio garden but if we had a yard I'd be here all the time! I agree that some things are expensive but the plants I got were comparable to Lowes/Home Depot types. read more
