    Mr Beef Brisket sandwich

I ordered the brisket sandwich. It was flippin' delicious Maddy was my server/ bartender. She was so sweet. Answered all of my questions. I asked to have an additional order take out. I asked to have it wrapped a specific way since it was going into a cooler while I'm traveling. She was so accommodating. I highly recommend this place but be sure to sit with Maddy. *Takeout Review* Food: 5/5 Hidden Gem in West Chester. This is my first time visiting Mabel's with my girlfriend, but not the first time I've had Soul Food. With that being said, it is definitely one of the BEST Soul food places I have ever visited. With that being said the restaurant isn't big, only has 2 or 3 sit down tables. But that will not stop us from going again, was not expecting a 5 star looking restaurant went there for delicious food and that's exactly what we got. Service was prompt, we ordered 20 minutes ahead for pick up and it was ready by the time we arrived, in and out in less than 2 minutes. You get 2 sides with your entree, also very reasonably priced (Considering the portion of food you get). Not to mention it is ABSOLUTELY Amazing. Everything is seasoned and flavorful. What we ordered: 1/2 Ribs Fried Whiting Fish Sides 1: Green beans, sweet potato. Sides 2: Collard greens, potato salad. Highly recommended.

The people who work here are very nice but I wasn't the biggest fan of their food. The Mac n Cheese was so peppery that it was of putting. The breading for the wings were okay but the meat was under the dry side. They had a good coleslaw. I wish the ribs had some kind of smokiness element to them but they were just okay.

The sides we decided to share: greens, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and potato salad

We stopped by on a Sunday after a visit to Linvilla. The availability of menu items were limited because they were also catering an event off-site. I had the ribs, my husband had catfish and brisket sandwiches. We shared the sides: collard greens, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, and potato salad. Everything was delicious. Great portions for the prices. Service was good. They didn't have any drinks because of the catering event but allowed us to bring in sodas we purchased from Wawa.

Mabel's Barbeque is 5 stars across the board. My co-worker and I stumbled on this small restaurant as we were getting coffee in the morning and remembered to come back for lunch. Menus are posted on the wall and you pay after you consume your food. The owner greeted us and asked us if we enjoyed the food afterwards and engaged us in conversation and provided some history on the establishment. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, a piece of cornbread, and a water. The total was around $12. The cornbread was massive measuring around 3"x3"x3". It was absolutely delicious and moist. The pulled pork was bare with bbq sauce on the side. This as well was cooked to perfection. The sauce was my spicy, but added a perfect touch of sweet to the sandwich. This is the best bbq I have had in awhile. I am saddened I don't live closer or I would be a frequent customer. The inside is clean and homey. It is on the smaller side with a few tables, but your eyes start to burn a bit as I don't think the exhaust was on in the kitchen. We stayed for about 35 minutes and my eyes started to feel the irritation about 20 minutes in. It wasn't too bad, but was still there. I think it was just a matter of not putting the exhaust on. Food and service was amazing!

The dinner was delicious as always. My daughter requested that we enter this restaurant as our go to place for soul food. I had the chicken wing dinner with Mac & cheese / greens...baby girl had fried whiting fish with mAc & cheese /greens! The family staff were inviting and warm. If you happen to be in West Chester, treat yourself to some good ole Soul food at this establishment.

It was some of THEE BEST soul food I have had in a long time. Too bad I forgot to take pics of the food. I ordered fried Cajun catfish, potato salad and collard greens. The Cajun catfish and potato salad are to die for, you hear me???? The collard greens were okay but were not seasoned the way I would have liked. Also, they don't serve bread with their meals. Would have loved a piece of white bread or cornbread. My 14 year old granddaughter ordered fried chicken wings and was sucking the bones. She also ordered the Mac n Cheese which she said was to die for! She, too, felt the collard greens were okay but nothing to write home about. Neither of us ate our greens. We wanted to order sweet iced tea which is usually a staple in most soul food restaurants but at 2:30pm they had already run out. Also, we wanted to eat in the dining room but they said the dining room closes at 2:00pm :-( so we got our food to go and ate in the car. Mind you, it was about 90 degrees outside but we turned the air conditioning on in the car and enjoyed our lunch. Too bad I discovered this place on the day before I left the conference because otherwise I would have been eating here everyday of the conference.

Now let's get to the good part ? The food !!! WOW... I literally almost melted when I bit into the cornbread ( unreal how good it is ) and once I got to my salmon, over vegetable stir fry with rice... I have also visited the Atlantic City location once before without incident. However, this recent visit did not meet the standards I have come to expect. My reservation was for 7:00 p.m., and I arrived a little early. I fully expected to wait until my reservation time; however, my party of six was seated immediately. Upon arriving at our table, I noticed food stains on the tablecloth. I understand that changing tablecloths after every guest can be cumbersome, but when white tablecloths have visible stains, they should be replaced. When our waitress arrived, it was difficult to overlook the constant gum chewing, along with her less-than-welcoming demeanor. She was not rude or disrespectful, but her approach felt very matter-of-fact and lacked the level of hospitality I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. My party was celebrating a birthday, and although we did not notify the restaurant in advance, we expected to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Unfortunately, shortly after our appetizers were served, four of the six entrees arrived while the remaining two guests were left waiting for theirs. I do not recall being asked whether we wanted dessert, which would have been an ideal opportunity to mention the birthday celebration and request the birthday serenade. Instead, the check appeared while dishes were still on the table. The food was excellent, as always. However, the service and overall ambiance fell short during this visit and did not reflect the quality I have experienced at this restaurant in the past.

I've had me some soul food in Mississippi and 'Bama, though at a fraction of the price you get up North. Look, it's a Montclair thing. Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.

The mixed veggies were absolutely disgusting-- gave them back. I paid $65 for fried catfish with two sides, fried croaker with two sides, a cookie and two drinks---and sadly, the only thing that was sort of worth it was the cornbread, but it tastes like it has coconut in it. I hate coconut. The item that was the most flavorful for me was the black eyed peas/hoppin John (minus the big pieces of fatty meat in them).
