I read all of these bad reviews, but I actually had a good experience at this location on a busy saturday afternoon. It was very crowded, but I got help within a minute by a very cute guy who helped me pick out what I needed for contouring, and also did a quick contour on me. I was the second person in line last Thursday morning trying to get that MAC lipstick in Lavender Jade and the did not write my name on their list. I betchya those hussies rejected some of the customer including myself and put their buddies' name along with their fellow employees on that list. They are rude and nasty. First I want to say that this is in fact no reflection of all Mac Cosmetic locations, nor Macy's but is a concern enough for me to write this complaint. Yesterday 5/29/18, my daughter and I had a mother and daughter day in Houston, TX. One of the things she wanted to do for me was to take me to the Mac Cosmetics store in the Galleria at Hildago in Houston, TX 77056. She called ahead to make sure she that if she purchased products could the staff do a makeover for me. This makeup was to include foundation, blush, everyday eye shadow, lipstick and liner face powder and mascara. When we arrived, we were told that the wait would be around 1.5 hours later because there were only 2 people working on customers and the other person was checking products. This lady did not try to assist or ask if she could at least show us anything. She directed us to go to the Mac counter in Macy's Department Store. However, when another customer came into the store and asked for a specific product, she quickly left us and assisted this lady. This made me really question her actions. My daughter and I left and walked to Macy's. The Mac counter in Macy's was the worst !!!! The person that was at this Mac location was cleaning makeup brushes. We informed her we wanted a makeover and would purchase products. She informed us that she was the only person there and could not do a makeover. We would have to come back in 1 hour. She did not offer to assist us in anyway. She never stopped cleaning her makeup brushes. My daughter and I assisted ourselves but she was quick to ring up the products that we did purchase. Mac needs to train and staff employees at the larger volume stores on better customer service. read more

I'm so sorry MAC that I have to write this review. This is a collaborative review of a lot of different Mac counters all over Houston. Although, my worst experience has been at the Mac store in the Galleria. I actually really like Mac products. I love the Mac fluidline eyeliner, the powders, their blushes, and the limited edition packaging that comes out every now and then. My one and only gripe about Mac is their employees/customer service. One thing that Mac is consistent about is having poor service everywhere I go. I feel like if I ever need to get anything at Mac I have to just grit my teeth and go in, get my product and leave. Everytime I'm in the store I feel like I'm a burden to the employees. They are consistently rude and have the attitude like they are better than anyone else. The only reasoning I have for how ridiculous their customer service is, is that Mac soley hires those that are rude and snobby. For the Galleria location, I advise everyone to never come in that store on a weekend. Unless you feel like waiting forever for service and then be rude to, then by all means! I think I'm considering just ordering stuff online from now on. read more

I agree with the other review saying how awful this store is... it's such a gross store. there is only one employee willing to help me, and she is usually helping another person AND doing someone's makeup simultaneously. it's dirty and the people there look not very put together and don't want to help you. when asked, they act like you're imposing on them. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. SO FRIENDLY, SO SWEET. EVERYONE LOOKS FLAWLESS. Ms. Gabby did my makeup, and let me tell you, as soon as I walked in, she was the sweetest. I have had my makeup done at the MAC in First Colony, and I was a little worried because they did not do a good job on my makeup for Prom last year, so I wanted to test out a MAC at a different location so I chose the Galleria. Even with us running a bit behind schedule, she was patient and took time on my face and was so detailed. We held small talk and shared stories and whatnot and you can really tell she loves what she does. She was absolutely fantastic. So freaking sweet. I looked like, as she would say, "the cat's 'meow'." LOL. When she was done and I walked back on the floor, EVERYONE was staring and kept complimenting both me and her. She gave me her number and told me to send her my outfit with the makeup put together, and she loved it. Thank you, Gabby, and thank you everyone for being so friendly. Such great customer service. Nothing against MAC, I love them but this location is terrible! First of all it's dirty! I was so grossed out I almost left. And looking back, I should have left. The employees are not helpful at all. And take forever to get to you. Most of them don't look like they even know how to apply makeup. I'm not an expert by any means at doing makeup so I would like to be helped by someone that doesn't look like they know less than me. The girl who finally helped me pick out some false lashes wanted to put eyeliner on top to cover up the glue. I of course let her but it looked terrible! The line was jagged and went up onto my eyelid! On both eyes! And one eye was thicker than the other. I couldn't believe that it looked so bad. I had to rush home and remove it which removed the lashes which I didn't want. And I had to redo my eye makeup. Anyways, I will not go back here unless I already know what I need. Whenever, one of the lipsticks I originally liked was out of stock, she offered to call another store for it. She even told me that she doesn't mind helping me find another color I would love, which made me feel so much more comfortable accepting her help, because I knew they were very busy. This location is way more friendly and helpful. Will definitely keep shopping here for my mac products. read more

Cynthia is the best makeup artist they have! Not only is her skill impeccable but her customer service skills have converted me into a regular, loyal client. Before working with Cynthia my experiences in the Houston Mac location were extremely unpleasant (no one would speak to me even to say hello while I was waiting, no one seemed interested in answering my questions when I finally did get assistance, etc). Cynthia has changed my outlook on not only the store but Mac as a brand. Cynthia has done my makeup several times and always gives me the exact look I am looking for. She also always answers my questions and makes suggestions for products aligned with my tastes. My collection of Mac products has significantly increased since working with her for sure! I highly recommend her and feel she deserves to be recognized for always making me feel important, valued, and beautiful. read more

I am a makeup ADDICT and I completely reccomend the MAC store at the galleria. Because I am young and have bright red hair I often get automatically ignored since most makeup artists asume I am not serious in purchasing - this was not the case. I was greeted by at least 3 artists and warmly asked if I needed help. All the girls looked very professional and their makeup was flawless. There is a young lady there that is blonde and very adorable, and she was so friendly I wanted to buy the whole store! Even though tthey did not have exactly what I was looking for, she offered a substitute produc that did a superb job for the look I was going for. Another young lady w/ shoulder length hair (sorry I didn't get names!!) helped me find the perfect shade of purple since I was experimenting with lipstick shades. Buckle your seat belts my friends because I am about to tell you the story of how one of the employees helped me and my friends go to homecoming and feel beautiful. So its Saturday afternoon, homecoming night, and me and my two friends head to the galleria because although we are teenage girls we cannot do eye make up to save our lives. This is especially embarrassing because two of us are artists who draw all the time so you would expect us of all people to know how to do eye make up, but no. Anyway, we head to the galleria because we assume that we can go to Sephora and get them to do one of those quick free 15 minuet beauty refreshers so we can feel pretty for our night. Bad idea. One of my friends is Taiwanese and the other is half Vietnamese half white, both have a mono-lid or close to one in one eye, and a double eyelid on the other. They basically look like they have one asian eye and one white eye. This isn't usually a problem because its barely noticeable when they aren't wearing eye make up but as soon as they put on eyeliner or eyeshadow everything looks off. We get to Sephora and one of the employees immediately starts of with being snappy with us. He then proceeded to tell us that instead of giving us each a mini beauty refresher they were gonna give us a quick lesson on how to do a basic smokey eye. My friends immediately thought this was a bad idea, but we stayed because I though "we could at least try". Needless to say we should have gotten out of there before we started. He tried to teach us but ran off after a couple of minuets to tend to other stuff and left us on our own to finish up. When we were done he came back and told us we looked great. We looked the opposite of great. We immediately went up to the mac upstairs intent on washing it off as soon as we entered. (we didn't want to wipe it off in Sephora because we didn't want the employee who taught us to feel we were ungrateful for his help but we looked ridiculous) As soon as we got to MAC my friend went straight up to one of the employees and nearly broke down in tears explaining our situation. This amazing lady (her name is Laura) was compassionate and helpful and helped us to take off our make up and went so far as to even put new eyeshadow on each of us that was so pretty we couldn't stop looking at it. She was amazing and thoughtful and helped us out in our moment of need. The whole night people kept complimenting us on our make up and going "wow!" it was so amazing. My mom and I went in to this store today to pick up some eye makeup (eye shadow and eyeliner). Laura helped us and was so great to work with! My mom and I don't wear much makeup and don't know too much about makeup, and Laura took the time to answer all of our questions, help show us what colors would work the best for us, and how to apply them. I had even brought some eye shadow palettes I already own and she showed me different ways I could use my new eye shadow colors with what I already have. She also searched out the ingredient list for me because I'm trying to avoid certain ingredients. She was really friendly, listened to what look we were going for, and explained a lot about how to pick eye shadow colors and how to mix and match colors. She spent a lot of time with us. My mom and I would definitely go back to work with her!! We are so happy with her recommendations and the products we purchased!!! read more
