Before arriving, I called ahead, clearly explained: * I'm a Black woman * My hair is curly and medium-thick * I needed a proper blowout/straight style * Timing matters I was reassured they could handle my hair and had experience with my texture. Red Flag #1: The salon was completely empty when I arrived. Red Flag #2: What they called a "deep conditioner" was a 5-minute mask with zero real treatment. Red Flag #3: I was upsold products that were either misrepresented or ineffective. The stylist rushed the entire process. It became obvious she was trying to finish quickly rather than do the job correctly. By the time she was done: * My roots were NOT straight * My hair was puffy and fluffy, not sleek * It looked worse than when I do it myself at home When I asked her to fix it, she told me: "You asked for a blowout, not a silk press." Let's be clear: A blowout should still result in smooth, properly straightened hair--especially at the roots. She then refused to correct it, saying she "ran out of time"... Even though I called ahead and was assured timing was fine. Now let's talk about the bill: * Advertised special: ~$50 * Charged: ~$150 * Added charges for: * A "mask" I didn't ask for * A fake "anti-humidity serum" * AND tipped herself $25 on my card without permission Yes--tipped herself. The next morning, I returned: * Another stylist AND a customer both agreed my hair was not professionally done * Manager was unavailable * I called repeatedly for TWO WEEKS... no response Final Verdict: If you are a woman of color--DO NOT GO HERE. This was: * Overpriced * Rushed * Misleading * Poor quality * Completely unprofessional What should've been a $50-$75 experience turned into a $150 disaster. My poor interaction at this location started this morning. The person from this location who called me to confirm the appointment had poor communication and only stated she was calling from this place after I asked for her name. She was trying to confirm my appointments but also stated I booked 2 separate services. My colleague and I are in town for work and booked separate appointments for blowout services for 4:45 PM. We arrived early today at around 4:32 PM to check in. Immediately the stylist who checked us in was rude. Her delivery on informing us we had to wait was less than ideal, she told us we have to "go get some coffee and walk around and wait for our appointment time". Several clients walked in after us and were greeted with warmer reception than we received. We waited until 5:02 until we decided that we no longer wanted the service, as we have a work function to attend this night. When the initial stylist saw we were about to leave she came up to me and told me to "go to the back we're ready for you" (not acknowledging my colleague at all). We proceeded to explain we do not want the service as we have been waiting for over 20 minutes at this point past our appointment time. The stylist then told us that there is a 20 minute grace period for the stylist because of hair length (past the shoulders), extensions, and a flood forcing them to clean the salon in the morning. The entire exchange was combative. The stylist argued that "we actually have been talking for 5 minutes so when you decided to cancel it was within the 20 minute grace period" and that "your grace period stared at the time of your appointment, not before". We never made a statement about when the grace period started, we were simply informing this location we no longer wanted the service. She then said they were very fast and didn't want to charge us $50 for a no-show fee. The stylist kept trying to extend the exchange, sharing that they and the other stylist are fast. This is contradicts what she was saying before, because I have hair past my shoulders (which I put in the comments at the time of booking) and my colleague had extensions (she booked the service with extensions). It was never communicated to us that they were running behind. When my colleague asked for the policy on grace periods, this stylist could not find it. The stylist then proceeded to touch my hair without my permission, trying to show that she could do the service fast. At this point I ended the interaction and informed her "respectfully, we are cancelling and leaving". This was such a poor experience. I'm also adding a screenshot of their cancellation and late policies (taken after we left). We showed up early, checked in on time, and waiting an ample amount of time for our appointment. If we are charged for any services we will be disputing them, as we never received the booked services. read more

Went in on 12/7 for a makeup and hair service and spent nearly $250. My hair was fine, but my makeup was awful. The makeup was streaky, uneven, and had to be completely redone when I got home while in a time crunch to get to a wedding. While receiving my service, the receptionist came up multiple times to let my stylist and artist they need to hurry and finish because the next client had arrived. The seats in the lobby were dirty and the art had spider webs with dust on it. I attempted to connect with the manager Erica multiple times, just to constantly be told she's busy and will call me back. I would highly recommend avoiding this place! read more

The website does not disclose the price for every hairstyle inside of the look book. I was under the impression the style I wanted would only be $75 with hair extension clip in installation. When I arrived, I was told the hair style was actually $100. Without standards prices published online or in person, it felt like the number was being picked at random. The manager who did my hair -- was rough -- and rushed -- treating me like I was some kind of mannequin instead of a human. If someone has been in the industry for a long period of time, they should already know in advance what techniques will naturally pull, tug, stretch, burn the scalp, or make a customer feel unhappy with the experience. It's not their first rodeo. It's not the first person they have ever done their hair before. Reggaeton music was blasting loudly like a club, and I don't any music that promotes women as sexual objects for insignificant casual use. The manager was screaming in my ear -- as she shouted to other people in the salon from her station on what they needed to do. Things like putting the music on, what to clean, and who and when to clock out. The location was understaffed for sure. From the overpriced service, rough hair handling, loud environment, there is no way I would recommend this place. The fabric chairs up front by the entrance are disgusting with how much dirt is embedded into the chairs. It's as if they haven't been cleaned ever. It's supposed to be this beautiful floral fabric pattern, but the fabric is gray from how much dirt is embedded into the fabric, clearly the fabric chairs have not been cleaned for months or years. And it shows! The retro waves looked more like just curled hair, there was not the distinctive S pattern. So the hairstyle wasn't worth the money either. It's such a shame because it's the kind of business you want to enjoy, like, and buy the service but the prices and process make it very difficult to want to return back. read more

Absolutely terrible experience dealing with Blo. I booked an appointment and was going to make it. Our flight had a mechanical issue so I called. No one answered so I could reschedule for later. I get text from there and say I need reschedule. Crickets... no text back no call back. A day later a 65$ charge without allowing me to reschedule because that's an option. Called and finally got front desk explained situation and was told they would refund me. 4 days later no refund on my card. I'm going to call and let my cc company know it's fraud at this point. Figured they handled business professionally and was blown away when I found out how crocked they are and how they do everything to just get cancellations so they get free money. I wasn't ever canceling appt. Went to Dry Bar and they did an amazing job and told me I should steer clear of this location multiple customers have come from there and shared horror stories. Bottom line don't promise refunds and then go silent and think customers will forget. We won't. Loved love loved my makeup by Lowra!! Even though she took me a little late, she was very apologetic and kind during the entire session. I gave three stars because you can tell the manager over books their staff. There was no receptionist to great me while all the staff were busy with clients. I was then not taken in until past 30 minutes my appointment time. Not only are many of the techs running nonstop, I had management come by a few times to rush my appointment. I think to have a better experience, the staff needs to be treated more with respect, given their breaks, and given time with their clients. Money may be priority, but staff wellness should be taken more into consideration. I arrived on time for my appointment and as I sat down with a stylist to get a ponytail, Rania ran over and started yelling at me that the service would be $85 for a simple ponytail instead of the $35 service I booked that apparently only includes curls. Due to the abrasiveness and bait and switch pricing differing from the website, I left without service. Today was a horrifying experience for me at Blo! I walked in to my appointment to be greeted by Carlos. Who took me to the shampoo station and was aggressive, going at lightening apeed like he had somewhere to be. It's alright, but i deserve better. I did not pay notice thinking thats just how he may be. Then when combing out, he's pulling my hair. And when i ask him to be gentle he smirks at me. Not kidding, i wish i was recording him. His looked like she wanted to slap him right there for his behaviour. Goes on to ask another stylist to come help him, while putting the blow dry setting on god knows what level. I asked him to turn it down a notch since it was burning my scalp to which he made a nasty face at me and asked his colleague to take over. I said,"thank you, you're doing me a favor by leaving." And he said 'good riddance' and walked away. Is this how your salon functions? Cos all i have to do is call the Indian Embassy and have him and your salon filed for racism at best. There was apparently only one woman working at the salon and the woman working there said she could not attend to both of us. The worst customer service!!! She was very visibly annoyed by us and gave suggestions for another blow dry bar... While I understand that they were understaffed, it made no sense to me. There was a second woman sitting in the salon, who appeared to work there too. AND she flat out said no, turning away our business. I wouldn't have minded to wait if she could have done both of our hair separately (she didn't even suggest it) or call another employee to come in or even try and book an appointment at another time. I love Blo Post Oak! I've been to almost every Blowdry bar in town. I love that you can call and make an appointment unlike other places. There is a personal connection here and all of the stylists are awesome. Im always offered something to drink as soon as I walk in and I never wait long (this is a huge bonus for me as I'm always pressed for time!) So I really wanted to give this place 5 stars--I'm sure everybody does when they choose to come here, spend their money and walk out feeling like a million bucks! I didn't feel that way when I left. I came to just get a simple "down"-do for a wedding. I gave myself well over 1.5 hours before the wedding, thinking I'll be a little late (nbd, it was across the street). I waited close to 40 minutes before I even got in the chair (yes, I had an appt). I was reassured that I'd be out in 30 minutes... but the time just kept slipping. Without going into detail, it took about 1.5 hours from that point to simply get my hair clean and loosely curled with a few Bobby pins. It's like I was having one strand of hair dried at a time, it was dragging so long! I know I could've done that at home in less than half the time, but with the time and money wasted, I expected something better than I could do--still wrong. There was no body or life to my hair.
