My Fujitsu heat pump was installed by MAC Heat Pump in fall of 2020. I should have been aware as on the first day while using to cool the house the water backed up and gushed down the wall onto the floor. I called them they looked at it and declared it was an outside hose that had backed up and fixed it. Well, not quite. Since then it has been serviced twice by their technician, three months ago it was declared fine and very clean.
This month the coil and fixtures were rusted out and it lost it's refrigerant, not so fine now. After calling MAC Heat Pump I was told it would be a week and $165 up front before a technician could get to me. Since it was extremely hot I searched around and found another serviceman that didn't demand an up front fee who installed and serviced Fujitsu Heat Pumps. He climbed up, took off the cover and had a look, took some pictures to show me and came down immediately. The coil and fittings were rusted and moldy. Why, you might ask, since MAC Heat Pump is such a reputable firm and everyone seems to love them. I wish I could show you the pictures, the hose and hole that drain the condensation from the pump are UPHILL of the area that needs draining. Water does not drain uphill. It would appear to me that they drilled the hole in the wall too high and didn't bother to correct the problem hence the uphill draining. This is why my coil rusted and fittings rusted and are covered with mold. Now, since the model of Fujitsu I bought needs a coil that matches to be under warranty one is not available since it has a WIFI capability. Given the way things are going who knows when that will come in. Actually I found out yesterday that if you need a replacement coil of any model they are not available as I was willing to pay for one that didn't have WIFI but fit my unit as this was part of my three pronged heating plan for the winter. It's cool today and I have no heat pump to take the chill off and will not in the foreseeable future because of a faulty installation by Mac Heat Pumps.
My house will need another hole in it to get the hose in the correct place so it will drain and I need $500 worth of refrigerant not covered under the warranty and there may well be mold and damage in my wall. I will find out when we remove the heat pump to change the coil. Should be dry, can't use it.
Obviously I do not recommend that you buy a Heat Pump from MAC Heat Pumps of Bangor. Expensive, no service and poor quality workmanship and regular service follow up is done by a kid who must have seen this problem and told me all was fine. Find someone else. read more
