I visited The Mount tearoom last weekend for my dads birthday. First impressions were great, I…read moreloved it! They have plenty of parking on site and you can see a large tent on the property which I believe they hire out for private events. The first thing I spotted outside, which I was really excited about was a Little Free Library book shed, which I know from when I lived in America. It is a book exchange; take a book, leave a book, book swap! I was very impressed to find one there! We had booked a table in advance, which I would probably recommend to avoid disappointment as there aren't many tables, but you can also eat outside. The decor is really nice and very fitting for a tea room. We were shown to our table straight away and the staff were really nice. We decided to order sandwiches and some cake, but they do afternoon tea and ice cream as well. Between us we ordered a bottle of prosecco and I shared a sandwich with a fellow diner, and was glad I did as otherwise I wouldn't have been able to fit in my cake! I went for the Wensleydale cheese and caramelised onion sandwich. Which was really nice! It might have been a bit cheesy had I had both parts of the sandwich. It also came with a nice side salad. For dessert there was lots of choice, including Victoria sandwich, coffee and walnut and lemon cake. I went for the New York cheesecake with strawberry. The cheesecake was delicious! Next time I would like to try the ice cream from Sargent's to see if it is as good as what I remember from when I was young! I can't wait to go back to the tearoom and try something different and next time I will take a book for the library! I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Amazing teahouse! I really recommend this place! The inside of the shop is very cosy and cute! It's…read moresmall so there are only a small amount of places to sit. When I was there it was completely full! My partner chose earl gray tea and I chose rooibos tea. You get them served in a cute tea put and lovely teacups! It looks amazing! Not only that but the tea was very good and you get quite a lot! We also had some cake! The pieces were big! My partner chose passion fruit/mango cake and I got summer fruit/cocos cake! Both were lovely! There is a wide variety of cakes on display in the shop to choose from. Other then that my partner also had a salmon sandwich which was lovely as well! The waitresses are very kind and polite and one of them could even speak Dutch, which was nice for me since I am Dutch myself! Also a thing that I'd like to point out is that the place has a very clean nice toilet! I always think that's very important, but unfortunately many places have a lack of that..

Afternoon tea is just divine with lovely "homemade"-style cakes (all on display on the counter). All are light and fluffy sponge with thick fillings and toppings. Slices are generous. Sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes (+20 mins), salads and soup round out the menu. Beware, this place is quite small (only seven, four-seater tables are inside) and they only take cash payments. Very, very nice! The kind of place you can take your mum.

So very many excellent places to go in Lincoln!…read more The guys here are excellent. If you like good tea poured from great heights, good cake, people acting overly english, and terrific banter (perhaps seasoned with the odd dirt joke, shhh!) then this is certainly the plain for you. Round the side of the assembly rooms, these guys have made such an effort, to be well dressed, perfectly, Britishly polite, and filling the place with fitting and interesting trinkets, genuine, actual, real deal type people. McGreedycakepants over here *waves hands frantically* is proud and mildly ashamed to say that my mate and I were apparently the first to finish off the afternoon tea in it's gargantuan entirety- if you put good cake in front of me, I will, eat, the lot. We spent hours here, working our way through all of the sarnies, cakes and biscuity treats on the stand, accompanied by tea, silver service style, and a rather excellent camp crocodile joke that I am ashamed to say I can't remember. Your belly deserves this cake, and these excellent people deserve your custom. They also had a stand at the christmas market, they recognised me, and were lovely yet again (now that's definitely customer service) also, I must note, that they also do the best, handmade, deep filled, completely booze steeped mince pies too.
