My husband and I are still in awe at how perfect our Wedding weekend was at MacCallum House last summer (July of 2019). My husband is from New Zealand and I grew up in Germany so we had many international guests join us in Mendocino at MacCallum House for our Wedding and we couldn't have heard more rave reviews. There were many times our guests excitedly exclaimed to us that it was the best wedding they had ever been to! We picked the Mendocino Overlook for our Ceremony and were shuttled to and from by the stretch limo included in our package from MacCallum House. What a beautiful ceremony location which is a quick ride from MacCallum House. We were ever so lucky with the weather, sunshine, light winds and blue skies! Our reception was out in a tent on the grounds of MacCallum House. We had a photo booth, fire pit and lounge seating outside the tent. Inside the tent was the dance floor, more lounge seating and of course the bar! Our tent reception ended at 10pm but we are so happy the we transitioned seamlessly into the Mac House were the party continued on until much later! The dance party we were able to host inside MacCallum House with our DJ was one of our highlights. The food that Alan puts together is out of this world. We are fine dining restaurant lovers and wanted to make sure that our Wedding included our love of good food and wine. Mac House did not disappoint. Every steak was cooked to perfection and my vegetarian sister was in heaven with her vegetarian options! All of the appetizers that were passed were exactly as we had always hoped for, a touch of sushi was such a hit! My wine loving parents were thrilled with our wine options and my Whiskey loving husband and his friends were pleased with the Spirit and Cocktail options. We are so happy that we added on Late Night food for our guests which were put out in the MacCallum House during the late night dance party. We opted for the Morning after brunch. The Mac House did a fantastic job of changing up the decor a little in the tent and welcomed our guests back at 10am the morning following our Wedding. It was such a lovely way to end our Wedding weekend, sharing stories from the previous night, sharing a few last drinks (Mimosas and bloody Marys) and finally saying our goodbyes. Elisa was our onsite coordinator and I can not praise her enough. She made sure that every need was taken care of on our special day. Furthermore, she was so responsive and organized in the lead up to our wedding weekend. She responded to texts, calls and emails quickly and was able to predict any hiccup before it even occurred. Her personality is well suited for her job and she makes you feel more like you are communicating with your best friend while planning for the big day! Mollie, MacCallum House's General Manager, is ever so heartwarming and welcoming and the rest of the Mac team made sure all of our guests were well attended to and needs met! We had multiple planning weekends up in Mendocino and each time we arrived, we were met with such enthusiasm and open arms by the Mac House team. We went back to Mac House in October of 2019 following our July 2019 wedding and again we were made to feel so at home. You can't beat a cocktail or glass of wine in the Whale Bar, that's for sure. We know we will be coming back again and again to MacCallum House and can't thank them enough for hosting our dream Wedding! We highly recommend the MacCallum House for any and all events! read more

My husband and I are still beaming from our perfect wedding and MacCallum House. Literally everyone that attended has told us that it was the best wedding they've ever been to. It really looked and felt like a million dollar wedding! The food and service were on another level. Every steak was perfectly cooked and the presentation was fantastic. The coordinator, Elisa, was also perfection. She never looked stressed (even when dealing with our stress inducing families) and we really loved her personality. The day went off without a hitch! Last weekend at the Maccallum House was a magical celebration of my daughter and new son-in-law's wedding and pre & post events. They live in DC (Sara grew up here) and most of the guests were from the E coast. So they chose Mendocino and the MacCallum House as the perfect location for their destination wedding and it was! We began with a welcome for the early arrivals - - wine, cheese & fruit on the MacCallum House lawn on Thursday night. It was just the right kick-off. We then had pizza delivered from Frankies to keep the party going. The MacCallum House was happy to provide additional tables and we were free to use the lawn space for our pizza picnic. We appreciated the flexibility. On Friday, we hosted a beach BBQ at Big River Beach, catered by Prasad Events. What fun we had. Again, the Maccallum House was very helpful in making sure out guests got on and off the shuttles and helped us in a myriad of other small ways, even though they event was not on their site. Saturday was the big day - - the wedding was at Cypress Grove, which was magical on a calm, warm, sunny day. The McCallum House set up a champagne and sparkling water welcome table for our guests, which helped them pass the time while waiting for the bride and groom. The arrangements for the site was seamless through the Maccallum House - - a one stop shop, which I appreciated. The bridal party loved the limo that the MacCallum House provides. For the reception, we asked the staff at the MacCallum House to veer a bit from their norm, as we wanted to host the cocktail hour outside the tent and move into the tent for dinner and dancing. They worked with us to make it just right using the small W lawn, the veranda, & the walkways. We had just about 100 people; it might not work as well with more guests. We so appreciated their flexibility in letting us do that. Now on to what's most important - service, food, ambience and a feeling of welcome for our guests, who filled the main house rooms, the suites, and one of the vacation rentals. On all fronts the MacCallum House hit it out of the park. Alan provided 3 wonderful appetizers and perfectly executed filet and salmon dinners for our guests. The food was yummy and delivered quickly. We had MANY compliments on the food and wine/liquor package. We also had many positive comments about the staff, service and the "feel" of the Maccallum House - - felt like an event in someone's home. I heard a lot of small stories about how great the service team was. That's what the mother of the bride wants to hear from her guests. Elisa Campbell, the new Hospitality Manager, at the MacCallum House was absolutely wonderful to work with. I felt that we had an advocate who wanted to provide the "dream" that Sara and Charlie wanted, while honoring the requirements of the MacCallum House staff and site. There were times we had to "discuss" back and forth a few requests, but I felt we ended up in the best place for us and hopefully for the Maccallum House. Her flexibility and the entire team's ultimate customer service was terrific & so appreciated. During the wedding she kept her eye on everything and worked collaboratively with the wedding planner we hired for the last month and day of service. They divided all there was to do with ease and things went without a hitch. I did not have to think about a thing once we arrived. What a blessing! Here are a few things you may not think about, but that I found so important. Amy Luce, who managed our guest's room reservations was a pro who kept on top of changes as time went along. She made sure the welcome bags were delivered in advance of our guests's arrivals. Joanie, who welcomes you in the restaurant for breakfast, made sure the back room was set up and ready for the bridal party and their friends. It felt like your Mom was taking care of you. And by the way the breakfasts are fabulous! The bar staff was right there to assist our guests every need. The vendors we selected from their recommended list (DJ Tony de La Torre, Khamoor at Mendo Floral Design, Sharon Garner for the cake, Marianella from the M Salon & team for hair and makeup, Joyce Perlman and Randy Lutge for photography, and James Sibbet to officiate) were all absolutely wonderful and worked seamlessly together with each other and the Maccallum House. We only invited a videographer and photo booth from outside of Mendocino. All in all, we spent 4 magical days in Mendocino at the Maccallum House. After 18 months of engagement and planning, the weekend was better than any of us could imagine. And a very large part of that success is due to the team at the MacCallum House. Herman is the guardian angel of weddings! I wanted a huppa in the garden, he sorted it. We wanted local organic wines at dinner, he spent ages on the phone discussing which ones would work best with the dinner options we chose. Our family has a few bizarre dietary restrictions, everything was organized accordingly. And Sarah was an absolute saint as our family and friends played musical rooms with bookings for three days straight about two months before the wedding. Once we arrived the other staff, bartender and checkin and brunch hostess, were a bit...discourteous with some of our guests including my mother-in-law and my father. OK they were downright rude which came as a bit of shock after how helpful and friendly Herman and Sarah had been. The reason I am still giving them 5 stars though is because the minute I mentioned it the situation was rectified. It turned out to be rather chilly the day of our wedding but everything was still perfect. The garden looked beautiful, all the roses were in bloom and then the reception was terribly romantic with huge blazes in the fireplaces. It was exactly what we had hoped for and we couldn't be more grateful or pleased we chose to celebrate our marriage at MacCallum House. read more

We were at the MacCallum House this past weekend for a Black tie wedding, the venue is beautiful, however there is one person that ruined it for me and my family. Robin was a very unpleasant presence at the bar the whole night! It was VERY disappointing! When we first walked in before the wedding and before bar had even opened wanting to get a drink she was back there putting bottles away, she ignored us until we addressed her. When we asked if the bar was open we were met with a short answer "NO" so we asked was there somewhere near by we could get a drink and she said "this bar is closed" so I noted out loud they did not specialize in customer service and that was proven throughout the night. I'll try to keep this short. At the wedding there was an open bar but my husband likes a drink that was not on the menu so he opened a tab. During the night he greeted Robin by name and was friendly with her. Near the end of the night he closed his $250. tab and tipped Robin generously. We went to the bar for one more drink and as my husband was ordering I went to the restroom when I returned he was gone. I found him with no drinks and when I asked "why?" he stated that Robin had ignored him each time he asked for his drink and kept making drinks for new guests that walked up so he left. I went back to the bar and asked Robin if she had our drinks and she said, "no he left". I asked that she make the drinks, and she said " HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY? I said cash and walked 15feet away still in view to get money, when I walked back she still had not made the drink instead pouring another drink for someone else, when I said "oh no, Titos" she said "that's not for you, I needed to make sure you were going to pay." This woman was so rude, I would suggest a different bartender for joyous events such as weddings as her demeanor was a total downer. I left super upset over her lack of customer service and lack of respect for us after we tipped her in addition to what the wedding was already giving her. read more

The best day of my life (so far) was at the MacCallum House. We love the town of Mendocino, and after staying at the Mac House for a weekend, chose it as our wedding location. Herman went above and beyond to help us make our decision, and was always SO accommodating (and delightful to chat with) on our subsequent planning visits. Sarah was also extremely helpful in all of the rooming logistics, as we had some changes throughout the planning process. Prasada (wedding coordinator for Mac House) was a dream come true. I hadn't wanted to "hire" a professional coordinator, as I enjoy planning myself. I was pleased that the package came with someone local to assist, though, as I live 4 hours away. Now looking back, I can't imagine where I would have been without her! She manages so many events, and is still organized, quick to reply, has great ideas, and reassures your nerves. I was a bit anxious as I was bringing a TON of decor, that of course I had a specific picture of in my head. She assured me that as long as I spelt it out, she'd make it happen. And she did. Of course I was too busy the day of to do much of anything, and she would find me to ask any clarifying questions needed, as she set up EVERYTHING. When I saw my wedding setup, I couldn't believe it - it was EXACTLY how I had pictured. Beyond the set-up, she was amazing and coordinating with vendors, timing of the night, etc. Besides the planning/coordinating aspects. the actual property is perfect for a wedding. We had the ceremony at Cypress Grove, and took shuttles/limo to and from. The rest of the evening was at the Mac House- cocktail hour on the lawn, then dinner and dancing inside. We had a 70ish person wedding and it was the perfect size for the inside. The old wood dining rooms looked beautiful lit up, the flowers by local florist Rosa (L&R Farms) were drop-dead gorgeous, the bartender was friendly and made our guests very satisfied :). The deck provided a nice place for people to take a dancing break, use the photo-booth or cigar table, and many people gathered around the fire pit (which they kept lit). It was also lovely having our wedding party all staying on property, it was so fun to see everyone at breakfast and around the property each day. With everyone traveling from near and far, we wanted to create a whole "weekend" party, and provide a place for friends to relax and enjoy themselves. It was many of our guests' first visit to Mendo, and it was the most beautiful weekend. They were all in awe of the town and vowed to return! I could go on and on - moral of the story, our wedding was perfect largely in thanks to the Mac House and their staff. From the planning process with Sarah and Herman to the basket in our room, to the special details of our wedding day coordinator Prasada... We couldn't have been happier. There just aren't words for how incredibly wonderful hosting our wedding at MacCallum House was. From day one we knew we wanted to host our reception at a venue where all our friends and family would be on the same grounds. (For a weekend wedding you book the entire place and then place friends and family in different rooms). I cannot tell you how easy and professionally they handled the several (possibly hundred) times I called Sarah to switch people in and out of rooms and it was never a problem. The grounds of MacCallum House are stunning with picturesque views of the coast and the ocean. (Not to mention the several hot tubs that dot the property). ALL of the staff at MacCallum House were extremely friendly, professional and made me and my family feel right at home. The head maintenance gentleman personally introduced himself to me to ensure everything was in perfect working order. Alan,the head chef, created dishes that were SO delicious and worked with our SEVERAL (no joke) allergies to ensure that everyone got a meal that was scrumptious and filling. Also, as a personal note, the day before the wedding, my husband and I approached our day of coordinator, Prasada with a very sensitive and difficult family situation, and it was handled with grace, professionalism and generosity. Everyone I spoke with after, young and old, had nothing but rave reviews about how easy and smooth check in was, to how friendly and courteous every single staff member was. My best friend said we should get married again next year because of how much fun she had. If you are looking for a reception venue in Mendocino, look no further than MacCallum House! We had a wonderful experience planning our wedding and having our wedding at the MacCallum House. All my husband and I knew from day 1 of planning was that we wanted a wedding in Mendocino. We looked at a few options, but The MacCallum House was by far the easy choice in terms of venue (you can rent out the entire property, which we did) and Herman, the manager, went out of his way to show us he cared about our business. I am not a wedding planning person... at all. I know what I like but I don't want to spend hours musing over details. The process was streamlined, casual but attentive and incredibly anxiety relieving. The wedding was amazing, from the help with the vendors, ceremony site, staff professionalism, transportation and attention to detail... oh, and the food! We got so many compliments on the food and signature cocktail (they were so kind to put our fav drink together for us after we tasted it earlier in the year from the restaurant menu). Prasada was very present, helpful and calm the day of the wedding, and it is so important to have somebody there looking out for you. My husband and I talked a bunch after the wedding about how cared for we felt throughout the wedding weekend. Herman could also not have been kinder and more genuine throughout the process. The one slip up we did encounter was connected to booking some of our guests rooms. We had reserved several rooms for certain guests, leaving others open for people to choose as they may. However several guests reported calling for a room, identifying themselves as part of the wedding and being told all rooms were booked... which wasn't true. My mother actually had her room double booked. It worked out in the end but was an unnecessary headache a few days before my wedding. But overall I think you can't beat this place as a beautiful venue with caring staff who know what they are doing when it comes to weddings, food and drink. My father also said it was a deal considering what you get for their package price. This is a special place and we will be back for all our anniversaries! read more

I recently had my wedding at The Mac House and it was absolutely perfect! As I live in Tahoe, we had to communicate via email/phone, and a couple visits. But it still came out exactly the way I wanted and envisioned. All of the staff involved were so helpful and attentive prior to and the day of. My wife and I had our amazing wedding at the MacCallum House in October 2012. Everything about the experience, from the planning to the actual day, was fantastic. Mendocino, and the MacCallum House in particular, is such a beautiful place to get married if you love the dramatic coastline of Northern California. First, the staff at the MacCallum House are great to work with. Herman is the manager of the hotel and always makes us feel like special guests whenever we visit. Lori is the wedding coordinator and helped us throughout the entire planning process by setting up meetings with vendors, making very helpful suggestions, and running everything the day of the wedding so we had nothing to worry about. She also made sure we actually got some of our great h'orderves and drinks at the reception! (On a side note: Lori also organized our rehearsal dinner BBQ on nearby Big River Beach which was also amazing.) Second, the food is ridiculously good. And I don't just mean the food at the MacCallum House Restaurant - the food for our wedding was the same quality they serve in the restaurant every day. Chef Alan makes some of the best food I've ever had - just as good or better than most of the food in San Francisco. Many of our wedding guests told us it was the best food they've ever had - not just at a wedding, but ever. Third, our wedding at the MacCallum House was very reasonably priced. We looked at several other venues in San Francisco and other Northern California locations, and the price at the MacCallum House was less than all of the comparable locations we checked out. Weddings are not cheap, but the MacCallum House was by far the best value we found - particularly considering the quality of the food and drink. Finally, Mendocino is such a laid back place that everyone with worked with (Mac House staff and vendors) were so kind, friendly, and generous. They were all such a pleasure to work with that it made the whole planning process less stressful. And the best part about having a close "destination wedding" was all the extra trips we got to take up there! read more

We got married in Mendocino back in 2005 and have been visiting the MacCallum House ever since. Jed, the owner and everyone at the MacCallum House are amazing. Just some history on why I gave them 5 stars then and still today..... We were supposed to get married at an overlook in Mendocino and at the last minute changed our plans due to the weather (plus a few guests were stuck in traffic). It was definitely not the stress a couple needed nor wanted when getting married. Jed and his team recommended we stay at the Inn, get married there. It was totally seamless; the entire staff helped make the new venue work for the 100+ guests. We were fortunate that we bought out the Inn for the long weekend so there were no issues with disturbing any of the guests. They not only helped with the change of venue but we had multiple events beginning on Friday to Sunday. The food, the lodging and all the special care they took was beyond a 5 star hotel. Everyone still talks about our wedding. It still is referred to as an epic wedding. We've gone back and loved every minute. Our only wish is that we could visit more often. We will be back very soon and again we'll expect to be blown away by the spectacular service and amazing food (& wine). Thank you MacCallum house for making every stay the best ever! I can't say enough good things about our wedding at MacCallum house. My husband and I got married here in June 2013, and it turned out to be exactly what we wanted. We looked at about 7 Mendocino area venues before settling on this one. Really nothing else compared to the level of quality at MH. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, the staff is pleasant, and the food is to die for. We actually had a few guests tell us that the steak was hands down the best they have ever had. And these are discerning people! Herman was really great to work with through the planning. Most of all what we wanted was for the weekend to be stress free, and that is exactly how it went. I was amazed at how smoothly things went. Looking back, I wouldn't change a thing about that day. We are going back for a visit soon, and cant wait to get there! read more

MacCallum House is a wonderful place to get married in Mendocino. We got married in October 2012 and had a great experience from start to finish. They're definitely not the cheapest route to go, but it was the perfect solution for us. Our priorities were that we wanted everyone to have an amazing weekend (not just at the wedding but their whole stay in Mendocino), and we wanted the food and wine to be excellent. Mission accomplished! We set up an appointment with Herman, the general manager, to talk about their wedding services, and he was so warm and incredibly helpful. He drove us to a couple of ceremony sites in Mendocino, and we talked about our options for the reception. He also gave us an idea of what the remaining process would be like, and said we would be working with Lori, the wedding coordinator, should we decide to go with the Mac House. Every time we came to the Mac House, he made sure to say hello and give me a hug. We met with Lori to begin discussing our ideas for a rustic but elegant wedding, and since we needed to make the most of our trips to Mendocino, she also arranged some meetings with vendors. That was helpful. We corresponded via email in between visits. Lori helped coordinate with all the vendors we selected. Ultimately, we decided on the Cypress Grove for the ceremony, a tented reception on the lawn at the Mac House, Joyce Perlman and Randy Lutge for photography, Sharon Robinson for cake/desserts, Rosa for flowers, and Johanna for DJ. The wedding weekend was perfect, and our guests have told us it was the best wedding they've ever been to. Friday we coordinated our own rehearsal since our officiant was a good friend. Then Mac House had a wine and cheese welcome party for us and our guests on the lawn (this was included in the package). Next, we had a picnic down at Big River Beach, which we planned and organized ourselves. Saturday was the big day, and it was just how we imagined and better. Highlights: Food was amazing; I've been told by many guests it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. Lori even made sure we had a plate of all the appetizers we missed. Made the planning process easy (or as easy as it can be). Staff was incredibly helpful from our visits to the actual wedding weekend. Lots of things were "included"....the wine and cheese welcome reception, printed menus, etc. Location was great for our guests. Since we had the whole hotel rented out the whole weekend, everyone got to know each other and could easily walk around town. The after-party...since music in the tent had to shut down (at 10pm, I think), we were able to move the party into the main house where the bar was open and we had late night snacks and the rest of the desserts from the reception for people to munch on. We had a beautiful basket in our room full of local treats from the general manager which we took with us on mini-moon. Few minor low points: Numerous guests commented to us afterwards that they would put their wine glasses down and wait staff would immediately take it away even though they were still quite full, forcing them to get new glasses. This probably contributed to the massive alcohol portion of our bill. Oh well. Lighting during portions of the reception was weird. I'm not sure the lanterns we selected were working the whole time, so some of the photos didn't turn out as I expected. A couple things got broken (probably to be expected) either in set-up or take down. As bride and groom, we asked if our breakfast could be brought to our suite the next morning. They had to make an exception to accommodate this and also charged us for the orange juice (breakfast is included in your stay but apparently not orange juice). Given all the money we spent, I thought it was a little ridiculous to be charged for orange juice and have to get an exception for breakfast delivery. All in all a wonderful experience, and we would recommend Mac House to anyone who wants to get married in beautiful Mendocino! read more

We had our wedding May of 2016 at the Mac house. Not only did we have the best time of our lives all our guest said the same as well. It is the perfect place to host your wedding. The food is unbelievable all the way from the appetizers to the late night. The service is very professional and accommodating. Herman is amazing! every time we would come up to Mendo and have dinner at the Mac house he recognizes us and makes sure to say hello. He even recognizes my family! the wedding day was unbelievable. Our wedding was about 150 people in the white tent. There was plenty of room for all the guest. Most relaxing and beautiful place. My husband and I got married at the MacCallum House in 2013. We had a great experience from start to finish. The best part was having all our guests stay at the Inn which gave our wedding the feel of a retreat where friends and family could spend quality time together. Hermann and Prasada were accessible and easy to work with. Prasada made choosing vendors and coordinating services easy. We had our ceremony in the beautiful cypress grove. MacCallum handled the set up and take down, provided sound for our officiant and a car service for guests to and from the ceremony. For the reception we were able to take over the dining room. We worked with the chef to choose the most amazing locally grown selections, including some delicious cheeses, which were my favorite! For the main course, our guests chose between Filet Mignon or Sea Bass. Many guests commented about how much they loved the meal. Late night food was offered that kept the party going into the evening. You do pay for the level of quality, but it's worth it. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the experience. My husband and I had our wedding at the MacCallum House in July 2012. It was hands down the most spectacular weekend of our lives. Lori (the wedding coordinator), Herman (the hotel general manager), Alan (the head chef), and the rest of the staff were so helpful, kind, and flexible. It's hard to sum up such a great experience but below are a few of the reasons having a wedding at the MacCallum House is the best idea you'll ever have and your guests will likely come away saying things like "that was THE BEST WEDDING EVER!" True, it happened to us. 1. Remember how awesome summer camp was? Well, when you schedule a large-ish wedding (we had 100 guests) over a weekend at the MacCallum House part of the deal is that you have to fill the 19 rooms on the property. This turns into the coolest situation ever: all your friends are steps away! On top of that, some of the rooms have their own hot tubs and there's a common hot tub for those without one. Looking up at the stars, in a hot tub, hanging out with your friends on your wedding weekend is pure fun. We loved that people could party their pants off then safely stumble ten feet away to their rooms. Another cool detail: unlike some venues where you have move off-site after dinner and dancing for the late-night fun, at the MacCallum House they clear out the tables and chairs and half of the restaurant becomes your own private dance party (we brought an iPod). They other half remains the bar so people can sidle up to the bar for more cocktails. Then the late-night food comes out and people's minds have been blown... 2. My husband and I love good food (we're from SF where it's everywhere) and one of the few "must haves" when we were researching wedding venue was a place that could serve top-notch food. Turns out the food at the MacCallum House is legendary, and rightly so. Even more fantastic is that the food served at the restaurant is the same food served to your wedding guests. We decided on the filet mignon and sea bass and both were superb. The MacCallum House also has a large selection of local wines. We loved knowing that our guests were not only drinking locally produced wines but that many of the ingredients for the dishes had likewise been locally sourced. 3. Lori kicks butt at coordinating a wedding. I will have no idea what major or minor disasters may have occurred over the course of our wedding weekend because she was cool as cucumber the entire time. She was the perfect combination of helpful, creative, and the voice of reason (I had a the half-baked notion of doing my own flowers and Lori gracefully steered me away from that and suggested we hire a florist--who happened to be AMAZING. Use Rosa from L&R Farms, she's the absolute best). Over the weekend many of my friends kept telling me that I was the mellowest bride they'd ever seen. I'll tell you that it was in large part because I trusted Lori and knew that she was going to pull off a great event. We also had decided to do a Friday beach barbecue that Lori also coordinated (it's a separate deal from doing your wedding the MacCallum House). We had heat lamps, tables and chairs, blankets (thank you Matt Rowland!) and insanely excellent food. Much of it Lori had grown at her farm (and made homemade pickles!) or obtained from other local sources--when was the last wedding you went to that had that?! Also, an added bonus is that you can supply the wine and beer yourself, which is what we decided to do and purchased all the wine from wineries in Anderson Valley. This is getting long so I'm going to wrap it up. Mendocino is a very special place--the gorgeous seaside location, the quaint shingled cottages and water towers, and the wonderful, small town charm. If this is the location you want to get married I cannot recommend highly enough having your wedding at the MacCallum House. My husband and I were so impressed by the service and amenities the Mac House delivered for our wedding. We visited the Mac House three times in the year leading up to our wedding: first to feel it out and make the decision to have our wedding there (we had shopped around several places throughout SF, Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino, and the choice was clear!); second for meetings with the chef, wedding planner and other vendors; third for a cupcake tasting and closing the loop on final details. Each time, we felt well attended-to. For our actual wedding weekend, the MacCallum House delivered a truly exceptional experience for us and all our guests. There was not a single hitch. We wanted a venue that was beautiful, comfortable, and desirable to guests, that also would cultivate a sense of community and togetherness among those traveling from near and far for our wedding. The Mac House proved to be perfect in this regard--its campus provided the perfect "base" for our Friday welcome reception, Saturday wedding reception and after-party, and Sunday farewell brunch. Throughout the weekend, guests would mingle around the lawn, in the restaurant, on decks and in hot tubs. It was such a special place to have everyone gather for this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. We also cannot speak highly enough about Herman and his staff. Even when Herman was not expecting to see us on random weekends we happened to be up in Mendocino, he knew us by name and took time out to see how we were doing. He went out of his way to be sure we had a special non-alcoholic mocktail for wedding guests who didn't drink, and he happily stored leftover wine from our Friday BBQ to serve at the after-party on Saturday. His attention to detail was truly impeccable (there were many instances of this), and his manner was consistently warm, good-humored and responsive. We are enormously grateful to him and his staff for making our wedding experience so joyful and positive. We are sure to return to the MacCallum House throughout the years ahead, as it has carved an exceptionally special, important, happy place in our hearts and "story." read more

My wife Sarah and I looked at a lot of options in and around Mendocino and elsewhere in Northern California before settling on the MacCallum House as our wedding headquarters in June of 2013. We ended up renting out the entire inn for the weekend for our guests (they paid for their own rooms, of course) and holding the wedding reception on the MacCallum House lawn in a giant tent, catered by their own head chef and kitchen. Everything went very smoothly throughout the weekend and all of our guests raved about the accommodations there, the food, and the beautiful downtown Mendocino setting with views of the water and coast line. We chose the bluff overlooking the bay and the entire town of Mendocino for our ceremony (unfortunately it turned out to be quite windy that day, which was our only regret). I should add that many of our guests really gushed over the delicious hors d'oeuvres served at our reception. One of the initial selling points for the MacCallum House was how friendly and helpful Herman S., the hotel manager, was to us from the very first moment we met with him. I would not that say if it wasn't 100% true. He even personally drove us around to several different outdoor ceremony locations and gave us the pluses and minuses for each spot. He and his staff, especially Prasada, helped us find local vendors for things like flowers, the reception tent and set-up items, wedding cake, and much more. Everything came together seamlessly. We were also pleased with the overall cost of having our wedding weekend at the MacCallum House as compared to many other venues we checked out including spots in Mendocino, Napa and just outside San Francisco. Another positive for us was that the MacCallum House is pet-friendly. We brought our dog for the festivities and it was no problem. We also visited Mendocino a number of times in preparation for the wedding and stayed at the MacCallum House each time. They always treated us with warmth and generosity. read more

I can't believe we are coming upon our 10 year anniversary in just one year and considering a "reunion" back at the MacCallum House where we were married in 2005. We have been back at least annually to stay at the MacCallum House- now even with two kiddos at the vacation rental. I'll never forget our first meeting with Jed where I feel like he really LISTENED to what we wanted, everything from budget, local, setting, experience. I knew this was the right place within just a few minutes! Our Wedding was absolutely magical- every detail was perfect and the owner Jed and his staff were completely in tune with every detail and wish that we had. I come from an event planning background and there wasn't one detail that the team hadn't thought through and addressed 100x over! All of our wedding party stayed at the property which made the whole experience amazing to have everyone stay in the fantastic rooms. We heard only rave reviews from our guests about the quality of the room, service and experience. The MacCallum House helped coordinate our ceremony in Cypress Grove and added some special touches of wedding flags, transportation and timing details. Back at the property, the reception was absolutely gorgeous and everything I had hoped for. It was the perfect balance of my creative touches and their group managing, setting up and perfecting. The food- the FOOD, was to die for. We were very particular about local sourcing and a few specific cheeses and recipes that we wanted to share with our family. It was amazing, we had a plated meal and everything was hot, beautiful and absolutely delicious. We had fantastic wine from the area served as well. We ended the evening with an after hours social and they contributed milk, cookies and snacks. Really, it couldn't have been more perfect! Great referrals to other services in town (flowers, spas, hair, fishing for the guys, etc) too. Our room was an absolute dream, we ended up staying a couple of extra days just to soak it all in.
