What a lovely venue! The host is extremely gracious and kind. The rooms are very clean and well taken care of. The location is just 1.8 miles from the city and easily accessible by car (not walking). This is a great spot to just getaway from a city completely in the middle of the forest. For breakfast, they served delicious huckleberry pancakes along with oranges/grapes and orange juice. The coffee was not as bad as others made it out to be. I would definitely return to this B&B based on the service level and cleanliness. Thank you!

Margie was a very gracious hostess and opened up her beautiful home and surrounding property to us. It was so serene and we had no cellphone reception, tv, or internet!! We were definitely cut off from the outside world for a wonderful 2 days! (except the main house, she has wifi) She even hosted breakfast every morning in the main living room with ingredients from her garden! We had fresh eggs from the hens that roam around the property, now THAT'S organic!! Her famous dish, pesto eggs were to die for! After my fiance harped about it the whole weekend, she made it for us the last day we were there and it was divine! We stayed in the Cedar room in the barn (it used to be a goat barn a long time ago) and it was fabulous. nothing too fancy, just very basic amenities for a very relaxing weekend that city folks like us need from time to time! The coolest thing about the cabin is there are journals people have written on them since the 80's which I believe is when the barn opened! We are definitely coming back and staying with Margie the next time we're in Mendocino again!

The Mendocino Farmhouse is great! we stayed in the Cedar Room and it was very rustic and beautiful. We used the fireplace both nights and my husband loved it! Margie's cooking was amazing too! Would definitely stay again.

Loved the food, the wine, the bath amenities, and the setting is nearly impossible to beat if you like a quiet retreat for a vacation. This year we decided to go back and stayed in Heron. Again, we were so happy to be here. Tremendously relaxed, barely looking at our phones, taking walks and having incredible conversations, etc. Eating breakfast on the balcony and looking out into the gulch and onto the Pacific Ocean was incredible. With the room provided binoculars we saw whale spouts out in the ocean. I didn't believe it when my wife told me until I saw it with my own eyes. Mendocino is lovely with a fun selection of great places to eat, the park overlooking the cliffs is a great place to run and walk, etc. One other thing I wanted to mention - I got a somatic Reiki experience with Alex, and it was truly profound. I've gotten Reiki for years but this was on another level. I am deeply grateful for that experience and it's continued to resonate with me for weeks after my return home. So if you go, I highly recommend this experience.

We came to Mendocino for the music festival and stayed two nights at Brewery Gulch Inn. The setting is lovely, the town was restful, and the design of the property is genuinely nice -- Le Labo toiletries in the bathroom were a nice touch, and the included breakfast/dinner concept sounds great on paper. Unfortunately, the execution and the way we were treated didn't come close to matching the price tag. Room and comfort issues The walls and floors are thin -- we could hear our upstairs neighbor snoring and their TV running all night. There's no AC and no screens on the windows, so getting fresh air meant letting bugs in. There's no in-room coffee, water, or safe -- all available in the lobby, but not in a $665/night room. Construction started at 8:30am right outside our ground-floor window with zero forewarning -- loud sawing, and workers who could see directly into our room. Breakfast Several items were unavailable for all three days we were there: no bread for French toast, no chilaquiles, and the "fresh squeezed" orange juice was actually concentrate -- we were told they were out of oranges, despite a grocery store carrying them a few blocks away. The snacks available were dry, tasteless cookies, and a fruit bowl (a couple of apples and bananas) that was never refreshed the entire stay -- the bananas were black by checkout. Billing problems When we booked in April, we were quoted a total for both nights including taxes and fees, with a one-night deposit due at booking. Days later, we were charged for both nights in full. When I called to sort it out, the front desk staffer (Crystal) responded with irritation rather than an apology, as if refunding an overcharge was a personal inconvenience to her. At checkout, months later, a $44 "food service gratuity" appeared on the bill -- for four complimentary breakfasts. When I noted that a hotel charging $665/night should be paying its own staff a living wage rather than passing that cost to guests via a surprise gratuity, I was told "that's what the state mandates," then asked, in a clearly annoyed tone, "so you don't think our staff deserve to be paid?" I was asked, in a condescending and nasty way, if I wanted the $44 refunded. I said yes, please reverse the charge -- it was never refunded. Checkout We asked twice about a one-hour late checkout (noon instead of 11am). Both times we were told staff would need to check with a manager and get back to us. No one ever did. We were separately told the fee for that one hour would be $100 -- on top of $665/night. Service overall There was no greeting or acknowledgment on arrival -- just paperwork to sign. No thank-you or well-wishes at departure -- just a bill. The staff throughout felt like well-meaning young people on summer break rather than a trained team, and there was no manager visibly on-site handling any of this. Bottom line This property is fine at $250-$300/night. At $665/night, it's a significant mismatch between price and experience, compounded by billing issues that were never resolved. I wouldn't return, and I'd encourage ownership to take a hard look at training and guest service -- "Unreasonable Hospitality" by Will Guidara would be a good place to start.

We stayed in the Treehouse room, and it was absolutely gorgeous. They even left a welcome note for us with our names on it. It had a tiny kitchenette with a microwave and fridge, plus everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The room also had coffee, tea, a tea kettle, and a coffee pot, and they even emailed us in advance to ask what type of creamer we wanted in the room, including almond, oat, and half-and-half options. One of our favorite parts was the real wood fireplace. It made the room feel so cozy and special. The bed was also super comfortable and warm, and we fell asleep with the window open, which was perfect. Eric and the team also give guests access to the lobby area, where you can play games, read books, and enjoy homemade cookies and lemon bars that they leave out for everyone. It was such a sweet touch. The entire property is beautiful and open, and there is a short trail down to the beach, about three minutes from the property. Around 5 p.m., we saw locals walking their dogs and hanging out by the beach, which made it feel even more charming and peaceful. Breakfast in the morning was amazing and included with the stay. Eric explained where all the ingredients were from (local) and even accommodated gluten free guests. Overall, Allegra has everything you need, so you really do not need to bring much. It was cozy, welcoming, and such a special place to stay. Big shoutout to Eric who went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. He drew us a map of local restaurants he recommended, all of which were amazing! We will definitely be back soon.

My husband and I were blown away by the flavors and freshness of both of our breakfasts and easily could have stayed longer for more. The staff here is very responsive, friendly, and really made us feel welcome. We absolutely would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quiet escape in Mendocino.

We normally stay at another property that is just a couple minutes up the road but found out the Mendocino Film Festival was happening the week we wanted to get away and as a result, our normal spot was fully booked. Rather than cancel the trip, we opted to try out SCP Mendocino Inn & Farm. What we liked about the property: - A reasonable number of EV chargers at the main property (see note below) - Beautiful main property grounds complete with a small garden, chickens, and even llamas; walking around the property was definitely one of the highlights of our stay - Plenty of parking both at the main property and the property across the street (formerly Inn at the Cobbler's Walk) - Access to shared facilities that included a microwave, hot coffee most of the day, tea, and a shared refrigerator if your unit doesn't include one - Pretty good WiFi coverage across both properties, though at times, it was quite slow at the property across the street. - Our unit (Deluxe King Suite) was very clean and had a small kitchen sink with a microwave and mini fridge, which was way more convenient than using the shared amenities. Things that fell short of expectations: - All of the rooms we researched advertised a wood burning fireplace as an amenity. When we got to the room, there was a sign saying not to use it. This felt a little deceptive--if the fireplaces aren't to be used, it doesn't make sense to list them as an amenity. We picked this place specifically for having the fireplace. - They have 5-6 EV chargers on property but most of them were broken. I believe there were only 2 working chargers, one near the reception and the other near the second parking area on the main property. Thankfully, there wasn't much demand for them while we were there so it didn't end up being an issue, but I can see that being very frustrating if you stay specifically at this property because of access to EV charging. - If you stay in the units that were formerly part of the Inn at Cobbler's Walk across the street from the main property, there really is no view to speak of. It's possible some higher units have a VERY distant view maybe a half mile or so down Highway 1, but having any units at this property that list an ocean view seems highly deceptive and the room photographs are highly telling--if there was a stunning view, it'd be prominently featured in the photos. If you're going for ocean views, you should consider another property (Heritage House and Harbor House for example have "real" ocean views) - Breakfast is included each morning of the stay (after check-in). It wasn't anything special--just serviceable in our opinion. For example, a lot of the egg "dishes" were simply scrambled eggs poured into a pyrex that was either microwaved or baked in a water bath. - At the property across the street, there is one unit that has 4 rooms in it and unfortunately, the walls are quite thin, to the point where you can hear other conversations through the wall at regular speaking volume. The cottage (a standalone unit) is definitely the move if you're on that side of the property. - In our unit (Deluxe King Suite), the central air wasn't working at all (we tried both cooling and heating). Two of the windows had screens so we just used them to regulate temps. I wish the bathroom window and the sliding door to the balcony had screens. We left the bathroom window open to vent steam from showering and ended up with a few mosquito/insect bites while we slept. - There is no daily cleaning service so this is much closer to a managed AirBnb than a hotel. You can request additional/new towels and they will bring them for you, but that means you will be accumulating trash for the duration of your stay. - Lastly, I responded to a text message asking about our stay so far asking to adjust our breakfast order and about an outdoor bin to throw trash away in. They adjusted the breakfast order but never replied to the message, which I thought was extremely poor service. It would've been fine if they just said that there wasn't an outdoor bin for us to remove trash from our unit, but instead they chose not to reply. Very disappointed in that. Overall, we made the most of our stay. Despite not having a promised wood burning fireplace or a view, we ate great food, drank amazing wines, and enjoyed the cool coastal air. The trip was still well worth it, however it's unlikely we will consider SCP properties in the future as the price just did not warranty the hard or soft product we received.

Now, for starters, when I think of a room "suite" you're expecting pretty nice amenities. You definitely want to feel like you have the comforts of home at your disposal. This room is listed as having. . . White Water Ocean Views King Featherbed Wood-burning Fireplace Mini Fridge Private Bath Tub and Shower So, let's get into it..... Firstly, I found it very easy to reserve the room via the app from Booking.com It's one of my preferred travel reservation methods, and the Inn Keeper John later reached out to confirm payment details and to charge the room just before my stay. That part was very simple. We arrived on Sat 14th around 3 ish in the afternoon to be greeted by one of the hosts named Diane. She is very welcoming and friendly. Gave us a little tour, asked if we needed anything, showed us to our room, etc. Diane gets 10 stars for her individual role within the Bed and Breakfast. Mind you, December is VERY cold in Mendocino. Some roads can be flooded. The ocean waves are angry but beautiful. It's windy and rainy. It's cold!! But I am dating a winter snow bear so she likes to feel the chill while retreating to a comfortable room. For this review, I am going to simplify it with a pros/cons list of how the experience was for 2 days, 2 nights. PROS --- Diane makes homemade cookies daily. Delicious! Delicious homemade breakfast served daily outside the room (picture) Wonderful upstairs views of the ocean tides Best homemade pesto sauce I have ever had during breakfast A very large plush king sized bed with like 12 pillows A mini fridge which is appreciated Strong fast wifi connection A seating area to eat cookies and interact with other guests Walking distance to the town of Mendocino A large enough room where we didn't directly hear too much noise above or below Up front parking right by the Inn You have a set of keys to come and go at all hours from the front locking door to your room. CONS --- Featherbed, you say? It is so plush, that you have zero support for joints. For those of us in our 40s, we went from a relaxing massage in town, to waking up with back and joint pain from it being too feathery. No support. Tub and Shower? Sure. They even have a cute lavender sleep bath salt. What could be the problem. How about that the tub only filled up with barely lukewarm water. My breath has more heat. The tub and shower wasn't cold, but it definitely did not warm us. My partner had to use the tea kettle to boil water and pour me a bath. The lamp on one side of the bed kept flickering and wouldn't turn on. We had one lamp across the room by the sofa. One small lamp on the other side of the bed. One very wobbly lamp on the table by the bay view window. And the bathroom lights. The room is dark and dreary. Oh, let's not forget the wood-burning Fireplace. I have never been so anxiety filled near a fireplace. The fireplace is the only place to really have warmth. The room itself is large and drafty so it will get cold. There's a tiny space heater behind the couch but that does nothing. You could touch it with your hand. The fireplace chain screen that is there as a safety measure so you don't have fiery embers flinging out on the carpet or worse, on you, doesn't close all the way! It is very old and outdated. Downright safety hazard! I was cold every day, and every night. I couldn't get heat from the tub, shower, fireplace, space heater or anything! Obviously, we cuddled and had the bed blankets, but then your back hurts from the pillow softness. The couch is more comfortable. I am not even going out of my way to find negativity with the stay. This is just how it went! For the price of this suite, my experience was very disappointing! I have been cold ever since! We would not stay again.
