It was a short stay as I spent my last two nights in Sydney here after a side trip to Tasmania. I was finding limited options for hotels at a reasonable price. It seemed like all the nice hotels in Sydney CBD were priced above $100 USD. Hence, I decided to look at other areas nearby. One of these was Potts Point. This area is known to have better pricing for lodging, partially because of the reputation of nearby Kings Cross which is known to be a bit of a rough neighborhood. Upon my search for hotels, I came across Springfield Lodge. The prices were well within my budget and the reviews seemed to be promising, so I decided to book directly through the hotel's website. Though you book through the site, note that payment for the room is actually deducted at check-in and there is a credit card surcharge. To get to the hotel from Sydney Airport, I took the train to Central Railway Station. From there, I had to change trains and get on the T4. This is a little bit tricky if you have luggage as you will need to use many lifts. I would advise taking an airport shuttle or taxi if you have too much to carry. After arriving at Kings Cross Station, take the Victoria Street exit. From there, turn right and you will see an alleyway that you walk through to reach the hotel. The hotel reception desk is open from 7:30 am till 11 pm, so please make sure that you will be able to check in during those times before booking. The hotel doors are locked and the reception is boarded up during the closed hours. I was a little apprehensive about this since I needed to check out before the reception desk opened on the day of my flight back to US. But this wasn't a problem. I simply let the staff know on the day before that I would be checking out early the next morning and then left my key card at the desk before leaving. Stayed in a budget basement double room which was just as it sounds. It is on the floor below the ground floor of the hotel. The room was comparable in size to the other hotel I stayed at in Sydney, except that it had a bathroom (albeit small). There was also a room fridge and the TV had many channels on it. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, though they give you codes (up to 500MB/day) to enter to limit the amount of data that you use. My room was just down the hall from the laundry room and there is a guest kitchen and dining room available to use. The price is lower for the basement rooms because they get less light and there is no view. I could hear outside noise from above, but it wasn't too loud. The biggest issue I had with this room was that I found a couple bugs scurrying on the floor, which I attribute to the basement location and the fact that it was pouring rain for my whole stay here. Being from Hawaii, this didn't faze me. But if this freaks you out, I suggest booking a room upstairs instead. As for safety in the area, I didn't have much of an issue traveling around. Though the area's reputation was on my mind. The main street in the area, Darlinghurst Road is a little sketchy to walk during the night. So be sure to walk with authority, like you know where you are headed. Overall, I thought Springfield Lodge was fine for a short stay. The reasonable room rates and close proximity to the nightlife in Kings Cross are the biggest reasons for staying here. It is a decent alternative to staying in a hotel in the Sydney CBD as it is fairly close to that area and is a short walk away from Kings Cross Station which you can take the train to head to Sydney Airport upon transferring at Central.

After providing proof of emails, they offered me a "discounted" rate that was the EXACT same as the rack rate. They somehow thought I'd be stupid enough to fall for it. After flying for so long, I had no energy to deal with these arrogant people and left for a hotel 2 minutes down the road, thanks to TA. This hotel single-handedly ruined my first visit to Sydney. I would avoid them at all costs and I've advised my company to never use them for business.

The two hotels are right next to each other so it wasn't too much of a hassle (I was at the Crowne earlier), but it was definitely a change going from a chain hotel to a boutique hotel. The room was smaller and the bathroom was way smaller, but it served its purpose since I wasn't planning to be at the hotel that much anyways. Thursday night was $215 AUD and Friday night was $230 AUD so at least it was cheaper. They offer a free continental breakfast for all hotel guests, but I didn't get a chance to eat it. It's a nice addition, but since my room was by the kitchen, I could hear everybody talking early in the morning since breakfast is available starting 7am. It's ironic that they have a sign telling guests to minimize noise at night, but it ends up being noisy in the morning. This would only affect the room by the kitchen though. Pleasant staff, decent room, nice location. It's a good, slightly cheaper hotel option. By the way, the hotel front door is always locked so don't forget your keys!

I had a flight out to London the next day, so a big factor in choosing the Dive, located in Coogee, is the fact that it's just 15 minutes from Sydney airport by car. Staying here meant I was able to spend my last night in Sydney right near the beach. Speaking of, only two of the rooms face the ocean, so try and get one of those if you can. I did and loved looking at the waves from my window. The surrounding neighbourhood makes you feel like you live in Sydney (there's nothing touristy about the area). Whilst not fancy, I felt very comfortable at the Dive and would stay here again.

I probably should have read through the reviews, but I couldn't turn down this deal, due to the close proximity of the Bradley Park location. The property was basically 1 km from the start line of the 2018 Blackmores Sydney marathon and half marathon and decided to book this one - mainly due to that aspect. And so, I booked this hotel accommodation, not knowing well enough that this is like an upgraded hostel. The Glennferie Lodge is basically a two story private residence - or what looks like it in Kiribilli / North Sydney Australia. It's nice that it is nestled in the suburbs of North Sydney, away from the urban twang from the central business district across the bridge. The neighborhood that it sits on is a quiet area, which is always nice to be in. I booked two nights here at the Glennferrie Lodge and possibly had a good stay here, even though having to go to the restroom at 2:30am & 4:15am, and need to leave your room wasn't the highlights of my stay. Just needed to be said. Keep that in mind when you are looking for affordable accommodations here in the northern suburbs or even in the Sydney's central business district. For me, Glennferrie was affordable enough and logically sound. The overall experience here at the Glennferrie Lodge was ok and good at the same time, although the aforementioned shared bathrooms outside the individual units was a bit annoying. I guess that came with the territory when you acknowledge booking with them. They assigned me room 59, which was one of the rooms on the ground floor. As you can imagine, those shared bathrooms / showers were on the higher level. So, having to climb stairs at 2:30am for the restroom wasn't fun, but necessary. The Glennferrie Lodge is located at 12 Carabella Street in the Kiribilli / North Sydney Australia neighborhood. They accept major credit cards for payment, which is always a good thing for travelers and people who wish to stay local. Getting here is usually done through private car. They have parking spaces here for guests. Best bet is to utilize these spaces or other nearby residential streets, if possible. For me, I got here initially through walking from CBD area of Sydney via the Sydney harbor bridge, although taking Uber thereafter was way better. However you want to get here is fine. Sometimes, finding a nice place outside the CBD area for a relaxing weekend can do a lot of justice. The house itself was beautiful, however, when you walk through the level where the reception was - the floor squeaked pretty loudly. Hard to tip toe about when the floor does that. The room I got was nice. Since I was there for 2 nights, I slept on both beds, one on each night. Seemed the right thing to do really. They had me in a room with 2 single beds. The unit itself seemed albeit small, but it was large enough to be habitable and cozy. The ambiance of the room was nice and everything was working correctly. The WiFi was spotty during my stay or not working properly, so I just used my network data. The room itself was clean and seemed like a small apartment, but with 2 beds, instead of one. All in all, it was a good stay. The prices here were pretty good. I believe it was about AU $80-$100/night, which isn't bad at all. Just need to remember the thing about the shared bathrooms, showers, and you should be alright. The check in and out service was fine, friendly, and quick. The beds were pretty comfortable and I managed to get good amount of hours of sleep for the race and enough to get up early for the early flight out to Christchurch, NZ the Monday after. It's a cute place, if you don't mind the bathroom / situation. Consider coming to the Glennferrie Lodge, where it can be cost effective to be here. Although it's not a bad location from the CBD area of Sydney, best bet is to just get around with a rental car or even uber. Recommend if you are visiting Sydney and need a place that's budget friendly. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 3.0 stars for the bathroom trips upstairs. 4.0 stars for the room and bed. comfort. When my other half and I checked in we were told those who booked with them on their site they'd be a complimentary buffet breakfast for us. We'd booked with trivago however he had given us the pass which was awesome. The food was nice they served tea, coffee, juices, cereal and hot food. The tea room has a TV and an outdoor seating area with a lovely garden. We got a deluxe double bed room and it was spacious. There's a TV, desk, lounge chair and two bedside tables next to us and a shared balcony. They'd also provided a guest book with info regarding the area; eateries, transport and emergencies such as nearest hospitals. Around the lodge you'll find canvases of the sydney harbour and well known sydney landmarks which was refreshing. The showers and bathrooms are shared and they're all unisex. All generous sized with everything you may need ie. Bins, soap, hair products etc.

You absolutely could not ask for a better location. There were two slight negatives. First, the pool deck really feels like you are wedged up on a rooftop. We thought it might be a nice place to have a cocktail and view the skyline. For whatever reason, it has not been configured that way, although it seems to have spectacular potential. Our big criticism, though, is that we were there for 4 nights, over New Year's Eve. It was our first visit to Syndey, and the NYE fireworks have been a bucket list item for us. Anyway, the Four Seasons charges a huge premium for their "New Year's Eve" package. We obviously didn't mind paying the premium BUT, other than the room, you didn't actually GET anything for this "package." We had absolutely no idea where to view the fireworks, how to get into the viewing area, what the program was like, what time to go, etc. etc. There were 1.1 million people there. It was mobbed. It would have been nice for the Four Seasons to have had a little guide for their NYE Package guests. At the very least, the concierge should have had a little tutorial, rather than just vaguely waving in the direction of the harbor.

The lobby is cool (temp wise) and beautiful. It was still decorated for Christmas when we arrived on 12/29. The staff is exceptional! They're so helpful and kind! We weren't sure how NYE itself would turn out, so we opted for a Darling Harbour view; just in case we ended up having to stay in the room for the night. We had a corner suite on the 8th floor with a great view for people watching in the Harbour. There are a couple buildings between the hotel and the Harbour, so you won't get panoramic views of the bay or water, and it was a bit awkward having our windows face some office building across the street; but with the holidays, it was empty most of the time anyway. The bathroom is a bit slick so be careful in the shower. ;) they supply Kevin Murphy toiletries and pretty much any basics you need! The TVs are decently sized flat panel and dish based. Plenty of windows, mirrors, outlets, and SPACE! There's a cute little patio/sun room with floor to ceiling windows, in the corner of the suite with the best view of the Harbour. It was a cute touch to a fab room! The bed and couch are comfortable enough. The kitchen is very nicely equipped with everything you need: stove, fridge, freezer, conv oven, microwave, sink, coffee/tea maker, washer/dryer, and all the soaps, supplies, utensils, and dishes to use them all! And with the meat and fish markets a mere 20m walk away, it was a perfect way to enjoy a deliciously fresh home cooked meal away from home! And when you don't want to cook, there's an amazing amount of great eateries on the harborside to one end, or CBD on the other. Just about 20m walk to the Opera House, all the major hot spots within reach. I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat!

Overall, the price point is average, but what makes this place worth it is the excellent location & free laundry.

Everything on the bed should be cleaned! Sheets as well as decorative pillows and throws as they had some sinister stains on them. The main lounge tv wasn't great either with it frequently cutting out or freezing. The room is spacious though with two bedrooms, a kitchenette, dining table and lounge area. The main room came with ensuite but the position of the door and light switch weren't very functional. Get in early for car spaces otherwise there is a parking complex on Goulburn Street.

Comfortable lobby, and good food and bar. Our room was vey comfortable, as well, and we both appreciated the bed. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, although the service at Tea and at Breakfast could've been more attentive. Still, they were helpful when we tracked them down. I would return and I definitely recommend.
