They registered us in and took my cell to notify me when the room would be available if it's earlier than the regular check-in time. Our luggage was promptly stored by the concierge. Soon after, we got a notification that the room was already available, much earlier than we expected. After getting our keys and going upstairs to check out our room, our luggage was already laying there. The hotel also has a decent size gym though I must say it's not the best I've been to. They do have a very nice indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. The breakfast is pretty good and has a nice variety. The best part of the hotel though in my opinion is its proximity to a lot of attractions including just a 10 min walk to the harbor and Sydney Opera House. It's located in the Rock neighborhood so lots of restaurants to choose from. It's also only a 10 min walk to George street which is the one of the main shopping and walking streets in Sydney. My only negative feedback is that the hotel seems a bit dated to me and the furniture, bathroom, and carpets need an upgrade / remodel.

This was my first time to Australia so I knew nothing about the area but upon doing some research it looked like it was centrally located to many venues and the airport via public trans and also within walking distance. First off, I don't consider this hotel luxurious by any means, and I don't mean that in a bad way; however, it is very comfortable! I would compare it to a Marriott Residence Inn here in the US. It was very clean and spacious with amazing views! Staff was always very personable, friendly, efficient, and accommodating to our needs. Location is awesome because it is within walking distance to both the Museum Station and Town Hall train stations as well as several bus stations. As a matter of fact, we did do quite a bit of walking as well rather than taking public trans for exercising and it took the same amount of time in certain instances (like rush hour) to get to the same place(s). As for most accommodations, nothing is without its faults. I could not get the dishwasher to work and I thought it was just user error; come to find out, it is backed up with water inside. I phoned the front desk in the morning prior to leaving for the day and when we returned it still wasn't fixed so I called again and they sent someone to fix it, which they did quickly. They informed us that they do not provide housekeeping services but if we needed anything to just ask, and ask we did! They also sent someone daily during the last couple of days during our stay to empty the trash and provide us with clean towels and other necessities (without asking). They are very conservative with toiletries and any other standard necessities such as soap, shampoo, dish soap, toilet paper, etc.. as a matter of fact, they do not provide paper towels and they also were hard to find at any local stores, so it must be the way they are, which is fine, just wasn't used to that here in the states (we also had to ask for coffee daily unless we went out and made a run ourselves to a coffee shop). Bed was comfortable; however, I did notice towards the end of our stay while making it that the mattress topper was stained and I knew that wasn't from me! I called the front desk to let them know and they had someone bring a new freshly washed mattress topper. They also provide laundry service as well as washers and dryers in every unit which was convenient and thoughtful as I took advantage and did laundry every day. They also provide laundry detergent (but no softener) which comes in a little tube and is probably just enough for a small load so I ended up buying a small box at one of the local grocery stores so I didn't have to keep asking. While we had no issues with the HVAC system in our unit, we noticed the hallways had either no AC or they did not turn it on as well as part of the lobbyway. It was a little uncomfortable especially waiting for an elevator (they dub it a "lift"). Speaking of the "lift", wait times could be long depending on how busy it was & generally early mornings were the best with no waiting. I did feel secure, however, as you are only allowed to the 15th fl where the gym is located, the lobby, and the floor that your unit is located. As for the cost, it is considered pricey by Australian standards; however, given the exchange rate per USD it was substantially cheaper and a great value for the money & this was a high floor unit (48th fl)! If I return to Australia someday (which I hope I will, it is a great country) I'd definitely stay in a Meriton Suites again!

Also, a lot of places around the hotel stays open late and walking around is safe. The reason I'm giving three stars is because of the service I got and the slow ass elevators. I arrived at 8am and the room wasn't ready, which was expected. I asked if I could borrow a key to access the gym so I can shower to freshen up for a meeting in a couple hours. The front desk said they can but they would charge me extra, which is absurd because the Meriton on Pitt St. nearby offered to let me use the gym to shower for free when I was in Sydney a couple months ago. The only reason I even asked about the gym access was because Pitt St. offered it to me so I thought it was an option since I'm a guest. This and even the Pitt St. location has slow elevators that it takes forever to go up and come down. This location has more elevators than Pitt, but still slow as hell. Their elevator operating system is really inefficient. Overall, I'd still come back because of the apartment style, room has a washing machine, and location. Wish they could just improve on what I mentioned.

The actual area around the hotel has a lot of good food and shopping options as well. We got in early, around 10am, and they did not have a room available for us yet. However, the person who pre-checked us in, Noah, called by around 1pm to let us know our room was ready. We were enjoying a movie at the mall next door at the time but it was nice to know they worked fast to get us in. I really appreciated that. The rooms were clean and modern with nice views. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the door. It felt small and tight but the room itself was spacious with a large window. The drapes are great at keeping that beautiful sunshine out while you're sleeping. The bed was extra comfy and I appreciated the cream in the fridge for coffee. The bathroom was lovely, with plenty of counter space, a nice toilet and a good shower. The water pressure in the shower wasn't the best but we made due. Every employee, from the check-in counter to the house people were great. Always a friendly face and so hospitable. Absolutely will stay here again if in Sydney.

The lobby area is attractive and contemporary although not particularly grand. A restaurant is on the ground floor and there is also an art gallery and hair salon connected to the lobby. The room was spacious and quite contemporary in its decor. We had a Hyde Park view, and there is a small side sitting area in the room across from the windows. The standard TV channels are available, although there are no streaming apps such as Netflix on the TV as other hotels are offering. The bathroom is large and features the usual amenities as well as a shower and separate bathtub. The real highlight is the amazing Sheraton club lounge on the 21st floor if you've booked a club level room. It is a large lounge with modern contemporary decor and many different types of seating. The breakfast buffet in the lounge is expansive and featured several hot dishes and numerous cold dishes and pastries. The evening appetizer and cocktail service in the lounge is not to be missed. Complimentary beer, wine, sparkling wine, and cocktails plus innumerable hot and cold appetizer choices. A selection of desserts is available as well. The food choices changed each evening, but there were some repeats. You could really make this dinner if you wanted to. The breakfast options were generally the same each morning but were good. Overall this is a great hotel in a great location, and the club lounge is not to be missed!

It's also quite close to the George Street shopping street. The rooms are well appointed with a bedroom and bathroom and a (not free!) bottle of wine. However, my room had a tiny 2 foot tall window that was above my 5'11" head, so I didn't exactly have a view of anything. Apparently some of the rooms have windows? Not mine!
