Unfortunately, this turned into one of the most stressful lodging experiences I've ever had. The problems started immediately upon arrival. The GPS information associated with the property initially led us to the wrong house, then the co-host phone number provided did not work, once we finally arrived at the correct property, the keypad entry system failed repeatedly. After a full day of travel, with my uncle carsick and urgently needing a restroom, we were locked outside for nearly an hour while multiple resets and attempts were made. The keypad continued to malfunction throughout the stay and caused additional lockouts as well. The property itself felt cheap, poorly maintained, and not accurately represented online. The "accessible" downstairs bedroom setup was especially concerning. The bed was on wheels and unstable enough that my disabled uncle fell from it twice during the trip, requiring the fire department to assist him off the floor on two separate occasions. Advertising this property as wheelchair accessible while overlooking basic safety and stability issues is deeply irresponsible. Cleanliness was also far below expectations. Upon arrival, there was food residue stuck to kitchen floors and cabinets, urine dried on one of the toilets, dust throughout the home, and multiple signs of deferred maintenance. The upstairs master bathroom cabinet had extensive water damage, the back door did not fully close, insects were getting inside, and cracked patio tiles were surrounded by caution tape. Many of the furnishings and amenities also felt neglected or thrown together as cheaply as possible: polyester sheets that felt like sleeping on plastic, uncomfortable decorative bedding we apparently were not supposed to use, random clearance snacks left in a basket on the kitchen counter with a dusty old Mickey doll that added to the unsettling atmosphere of the place. What made this experience the most frustrating is that I tried to handle everything professionally and privately, particularly because the property was listed for sale. Rather than publicly criticizing the home or spending the trip repeatedly reporting maintenance, cleanliness, and accessibility concerns while simultaneously managing care giving responsibilities and emergencies, I chose to compile a detailed and constructive summary after checkout in good faith so the issues could be addressed discreetly for future guests and potential buyers. I also proactively disclosed minor accidental damage, which the host acknowledged and stated would not be an issue, only to later leave a negative guest review referencing "damages" after I requested consideration for the numerous problems encountered during the stay. The host's review also stated that there was "no communication" during the stay, despite documented messages regarding the entry issues at check-in and additional communication during the trip. Before checkout, we followed all instructions, removed all trash, washed linens and towels, cleaned dishes, and left the property in better condition than we found it. I would strongly caution disabled guests, caregivers, or families expecting a professionally maintained and genuinely accessible accommodation before booking this property. Between the access issues, cleanliness concerns, maintenance problems, and the host's response after I attempted to handle matters privately and constructively, this was ultimately an exhausting and deeply disappointing experience.
