I went to MacNutt to purchase garden soil. A Half Yard is 28 and change a a full yard is 38. I wanted a yard but my pick up is only 1/2 tonne. A Yard is 1 Tonne. So after discussing that fact I said I would pay for the half now and come back later for the rest as I only lived up the road.
After unloading I drove back up and found someone different at reception. I explained the yard conversation I had earlier and said I was there to pay the difference on the other half. I was told that the price would be for another half yard and taxes. I tried to explain again that I already paid for a half yard and expected to pay the difference on the remainder that they were selling for 38 dollars, expecting another 10 dollars and taxes. I was informed that because I could only accommodate soul in my truck at 1/2 yard increments, that I would be charged accordingly to cover the costs of the operator. The operator sitting on a tractor collecting an hourly wage exactly for that purpose in the yard. Adding to that his tractor his a half yard scoop, so he still would have scooped two loads if I was able to accommodate a full yard in my truck. Because of this operator clause, my yard at 38 dollars would now cost me 62 dollars in total. I have easily spent over a thousand dollars at MacNutt over the last two years and by throwing reason and fair business practice aside over a twenty dollar difference ( as well as the principle of fairness) today will be my last purchase there. read more
