With the old green van surrounded by garbage that's been in their parking lot for months, it's hard to focus on the "prestige" of Benjamin Moore paint when it's the same as everyone else's...yet 20% more expensive.

In all my dealings with various BM franchises I have always experienced helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff...until this one in Parksville. l went into the store to pick up some paint chips, having already decided on a couple different tones of green, when the staff member thrusts "Colour of the Year" at me and tells me that is what I want. He didn't even know what it was I was painting! When I told him, he said he needed to go return a phone call and I didn't see him again. Very disappointing. If many people listen to him there will be a lot of October Mist Houses in town.

Local BC company, may not have the pedigree of larger North American paint notables, but…read morenevertheless they have some great product. Their Renaissance hybrid trim paint is hard to beat, their Super II Eggshell world class, and I love the performance of their SharkSkin deck stains. The new MultiMaster is proving to be a genuine commercial grade coating technology, fully waterborne with no blocking. The staff at the Langford location perform colour matching well and seem knowledgeable about most of the products they sell. I've had a few inconsistencies over the years and orders not ready after phoning them in, etc., but the reality is, I want to support local and I want to support Canadian where possible, with Cloverdale product being worth any mild frustrations.
