We're feeling our way around the city, trying to get a feel for the best pizza, best wings, etc. We'd heard Mac's had great both. We visited on a Friday night. They weren't very busy for a Friday. We ordered the wings for an appetizer. I only ate one because they were too soft for my liking, but the flavor was good. We ordered a barbeque chicken pizza. It was good, but had a lot of sauce. The service was good. There wasn't any soap in the women's restroom. I told a server and she didn't offer to replace it or even tell someone. I thought that was kind of odd. Great place. The main reason we thought to give this place a try was that it had vegan and gluten-free options available in their menu and the place did not disappoint us. We went for their waffle fries as starters and a vegan pizza on a gluten-free crust following it. Their waffle fries were great - although a little greasy. It was weird that they haven't thought about a standard dip that will go well with this innovative dish and left it to customers. We asked for a honey-mustard dip with that and it was definitely a good combination. The vegan pizza on a gluten-free crust was great. The crispness of the crust was just right and the toppings, along with vegan mozzarella cheese, were absolutely delicious. Definitely to be tried. They have a huge collection of beers but I would have loved to see their staff having knowledge around the beer. They can be more suggestive, especially when asked. Looking for a good dark beer to try (with Oktoberfest around), I settled for a craft beer. Having said that, the staff was good and pleasant to talk to. The place was unusually not crowded even though it was a Saturday night (perhaps because of Oktoberfest going around in the city), which was, in a way, a blessing for us. They have a couple of high chairs, a few booths and few more high chairs at the bar. The lighting was great. The entrance is quite unusual with an area having a bathtub on one side, cigarette box dispenser behind it and other unusual stuff around. The main pub starts once you cross that. Apart from the server recommending a half-portion of the salad, the service at this place could only have gotten worse if the server had poured a drink in my lap. For the most part, the server was MIA. And no one working at Mac's appeared to want to be there. The food was fair at best. Highly recommend going somewhere else. read more

So had this week off and planned a Denver trip to check out breweries but the COVID thing stopped that. So checkin out local places...n this is one of em. We LOVED this great little bar. We arrived in town tired and hungry. We ordered a pizza. It was awesome, They had the best wings I've ever eaten. They were good sized, still hot and crispy from being just fried, tossed in Thai chili sauce. We went back to eat there again the following night. We found the food pricey for the quality and not a good value. The food was fine, but nothing special but was priced on the high end. Service took over an hour before we got our entrees, but I'm not including that in my number of stars as I understand everyone is having staffing issues. Heather was amazing! We were on the patio and a group of (drunk) ladies decided to start getting inappropriate. They were nice until the very end, and decided to cuss out their server for a shot not being chilled. The bartenders apologized and agreed to get new shots but that wasn't good enough for them. Heather was attentive the entire night, the fact that they had to disrespect her over a DAMN SHOT is bull. Not only was this embarrassing to Heather, the server, but these ladies made everyone on the patio feel extremely uncomfortable. Besides these ladies, the service was incredible. If you're that unhappy about a shot not being chilled, pay out and go somewhere else. Don't scream and make everyone uncomfortable. read more

Went here today for a lunch date with my boyfriend, his mom and aunt. I've been to Mac's but only in Clifton. It was my first time here and just wow! Their food was so good! Especially the chicken barbecue pizza + bacon. We also ordered wings flavored sweet Thai chili (amazing as well) The whole place looks very nice especially if you go at the back! I ordered Mac's margarita it was good. I gave this a four star because there were 3 staff we saw and only one was energetic and happy to see us. It was the old lady. Our server was nice but we couldn't find her most of the time and didn't introduce herself. Meanwhile the bartender looks like she doesn't wanna work there she doesn't even smile. read more

This was our second visit to this location. First visit, we didn't venture farther than the first room. This time we wandered into the atrium room and hung out there. WOW, this place is huge! So many different options for rooms to eat in. As with all the other Mac's, the food is really good. Our favorites are the chicken wings, the Mac snack pizza, and the fried pickles. The beer list is extensive, something for everyone. The servers were super friendly to top things off. We'll be back again! read more

Terrific! I don't know why but I had low hopes for a random bar and pizza joint but I was VERY wrong. The staff here were all extremely friendly and accommodating. We ended up here because my friend is vegan and we heard they have vegan options. They actually have a vegan section on their menu. My friend was very impressed by the vegan onion rings, he said they were a delicious and rare find. I, myself, had a scrumptious carrot cake. I highly recommend this place. Pick-up order was 20 minutes late, service was embarrassingly rude, and to make matters worse when my food was finally brought out it sat under the heat lamp for 5 minutes before I was asked my name (for the 5th time). Great food and service at Mac's. Plenty of TV's for sporting events and they have two bar areas. One for family's and another for parties at the entrance. Food and pizza is also delicious. I would suggest this place to anyone, and it's a perfect place for Reds pregame or postgame. read more

We held our fantasy football draft here. For $100, they ran a deal that gave us appetizers, three large pizzas, two pitchers of beer, the NFL draft kit, and a private room upstairs with a tv and couches. We were excited for such a great deal but were pleasantly surprised with how great the pizza was! To the point that we ordered extra pizzas after. The service was quick and very kind. The private room upstairs was PERFECT for groups of 20 or so. We will be coming back every year and our friends from out of town request it. The burgers are also a good sized and super great waffle fries if you are not feeling pizza that night! They are also decently priced. Mac's Pizza was different in a sense, when we walked up to the front door it told us to use the other door. Apparently, they own the restaurant and the bar next door, but you can only get to the restaurant through the bar. When we walked in the place was empty except the bartender (who was also the waitress) and there were two women drinking at the bar. The bartender told us to have a seat anywhere we liked. It was not really what I had expected, I was expected something like a pizza pub that served beer. It unfortunately looked more like a fully stocked bar that served food. It had more of a bar atmosphere, than a pizza place. It felt kind of weird, like this is a place I would hang out on a Saturday night, not a place I'm grabbing lunch at on a Wednesday afternoon. Though all is well, they had a lunch special which included a drink, fries and things like ( burger, small pizza) you know how lunch special can be all for I believe 7.99. The waitress/ bartender was very attentive to us, (though when reading other reviews others complained about the lack of service), it would be hard for her not to be attentive to us. We were pretty much the only ones in their eating. Looking at the menu it was hard to decide what to get there are so many different options to choose from but we finally decided. My wife is what you would call a fried pickle connoisseur, if there is a restaurant in the area that has fired pickles my wife knows about them. If there is a restaurant that serves fried pickles it is a must that my wife has to try them. I unfortunately hate pickles and do not eat them ever (not even as a condiment will I eat them, none the less as an appetizer). So, naturally my wife had to get them to try. She loved them; she ranked them in the top of her long list of fried pickles. What is so different about them? Well, my wife explained to me that most places use a breading to cover the pickle, why these ones here are covered in a batter. She says that she enjoys that they use a BEER (PBR to be exact) batter instead of the breading. She told me that though breading can be good, it is a different texture, crunch, and flavor when using a batter. She said if nothing else was good, at least she knows that if she ever has to come back she can at least enjoy a good deep fried pickle (see pictures below) and not a bad price for 6.99. Though because my wife wanted the pickles and I absolutely will not eat them, I decided to order an appetizer for myself (we often do this, because of the pickle situation). So I opted for one of my favorites (that my wife will try but doesn't really enjoy) and that is beer cheese and pretzels. The beer they used was Mt. Carmel which I had no clue what kind of beer that was but looking it up Mt. Carmel is a local Brewing company in Cincinnati (I'm not sure what kind of beer from that company they use, they didn't say on the menu) anyway you get three big pretzel sticks, and what maybe 3 or 4 oz. of cheese for 7.99. Which isn't a bad price at all; I would have liked a little bit more cheese for my pretzels. But, I guess it was enough, I just tend to be what you call a heavy dipper when it comes to foods you dip in sauce. If you were actually sharing it with people (I wasn't) it should be enough unless someone hogs all the cheese. The taste wasn't bad, it was actually pretty good, I can honestly say that it wasn't the best beer cheese I have ever had, but it most certainly wasn't the worst either. It was very well balanced when it came to cheese beer ratio. A lot of places either put too much beer in it, you can't taste cheese, and some don't put enough in it to consider it beer cheese. This beer cheese had a good ratio and you were able to taste both beer and cheese. (see picture below) After the appetizer we decided to split a medium pizza. We choose the classic BBQ chicken pizza. Why choose that pizza when they have tons of original pizzas like the French fry Pie, or the Flying pig? It is a standardized specialty pizza; most places that serve pizza have their own version of BBQ chicken. Also, it is a popular pizza that many order, and so any good pizza place should be able to make a good standardized pizza to feed the population. The pizza wasn't that bad, it was ok. That is all I have to say about the pizza. The problem that I have with this pizza is the fact that it was just ok! For a pizza pub I feel the pizza should be the main star of the meal, and my wife and I both were more impressed with the appetizers than the pizza To be honest, the pizza was more of a disappointment, However, my wife and I were pleased with the apps those were the saving grace of our meal. I must say this won't be the last time we go there; because they have so many different pizzas and apps, plus burgers and other menu items we have yet to try we will return to see if anything else is worth going there for. It's #nationalpizzaday. Had an amazing experience at Mac's. We happened to be there during happy hour which is bogo appetizers until 6:00 pm. And $1 off all drinks. Lovely. I ordered the spinach and goat cheese pizza, my friend had the turkey club. Maybe it was the cheese sticks and beer cheese and pretzels as our apps, but both of us left with to go boxes. Mac's Pizza is a welcome addition to the Mainstrasse bar/restaurant scene. I was initially disappointed to see another pizza place coming to the Village, but they have proven themselves to be far more than just a pizza place. I have to say though, their pizza is incredible and they offer a delectable variety of toppings and sauces. My current favorite is the BBQ sauce base with chicken and bacon. Another pizza definitely worth a try is the French Fry Pie. The Mount Caramel beer cheese base is smooth and cheesy and contributes to the uniqueness of the pizza. Service was unbelievably slow. It would be understandable if they were busy but there was only 4 other people at the bar besides my sister and I.... The chicken tenders and waffle fries I ordered came out super greasy and cold and my sisters order of just cheese fries, no bacon (shes a vegetarian) came out with a handful of bacon bits on the bottom. Great spot to have some drinks. The atmosphere is fun (sports bar-ish) and spacious. There are 2 sides to this bar, one that's a little more intimate and rustic and the others side has lots of tvs and is brighter. The food is just okay to me. I've had a few different appetizers and wasn't overly impressed. The pretzels were a little stale and the cheese didn't seem fresh. The nachos were plain and the toppings were skimpy. They do offer buy one get one on appetizers during happy hour, which is a great deal. I'm not super impressed with the service here. It seems like I'm always waiting longer than I should have to for a drink refill and some of the bartenders are less than friendly. There have been a few who made me feel like I was bothering them if I needed a drink or to close out my tab. I will continue to come back because I like the atmosphere and it's a good spot to come to if you have a larger group of people, plus the drinks are reasonably priced! read more

We came here on a Sunday afternoon - the bar space wasn't too crowded and we were easily able to grab seats next to each other. The restaurant space seemed much busier, and the food coming out looked really delicious (I kept seeing people order burgers). We only had beer and the spinach and artichoke dip which was delicious (although I didn't love the tortilla chips). Decent draft beer selection with many more can/bottle options. I stopped in one evening with a couple of friends and ordered a bowl of chili. The food was okay but the service was ridiculously slow. My bill was $5.00 and I added $1.00 for a tip anyway. When I got my credit card bill they had changed the $1.00 to $10.00. What I thought at first was just a careless mistake now seems to have been intentional. I spoke with the manager who first told me to "come and pick it up". I told her I wasn't driving all that way so please refund it to my card and she said she couldn't. She finally said she would send it to me, which of course she never did. When I tried to call again, no one was ever available, and my calls were not returned. I got my money back from my credit card company, but their refusal to correct their "mistake" tells me it probably wasn't one. If you must eat at this sorry establishment, please watch your bill and credit card closely. read more

Pizza was fine, service was baffling at this location. At 830pm on a weekday: ME: is there any reason this pizza isn't vegetarian? There isn't anything listed but these other ones have a specific "v" next to them." SERVER: I don't know. (Stares) ME: I mean because it doesn't say there's any meat or anything. SERVER: (annoyed) I don't know what you're asking me. I don't know what vegetarian is. (Stands and stares) ME: Well is there any meat in or on this pizza? SERVER: (flustered) I don't know. I mean I'd have to ask someone. I don't know. (Stares and does not ask someone) ME: ...can you? SERVER: (turns head, yells to bartender 5 feet away) HEY WHATS VEGETARIAN IS THIS PIZZA VEGETARIAN BARTENDER: You mean like the bread? Can y'all eat bread? I mean you're not allergic? (Struggle continues like this during entire meal) I've never had a server defiantly tell me that they can't answer my question and then just stand and wait for me to respond, making me feel like I'm a jerk for asking about YOUR MENU. Struggles during the whole meal, typical bad service (not checked on, refills take an act of congress, etc). She acted annoyed that we were sitting in her section, THOUGH WE WERE THE ONLY TABLE SEATED IN THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT. Macs is fine and the Clifton location is great, but this was completely ridiculous, and according to a couple of friends of mine, not an isolated incident at this location. My how Mainstrasse has changed! The former site of Cosmos is now a Mac's! I live closer to Mac's in Clifton but now that students are back from summer break I knew I wouldn't enjoy it as much. I hopped on Yelp and searched for a place that could deliver decent food and drinks at a reasonable price and found out there was a new location in Covington. This place is awesome and they did a great job transforming the space cause Cosmos was kind of gross. There's so much space and 2 bars. Our service was so nice, checked on us a healthy but not annoying amount of times and made sure that we always had our drinks. They had an excellent selection of beers on tap (OK excellent for me means they have ciders on tap...don't judge me) and my only complain besides the obscene number of gnats flying around was that they didn't have any happy hour specials on food. This will definitely be my new favorite Mac's! read more

This place is another victim of Covid, no one cares; not the manager, not the bartender, not the server. Place is uncrowded on a Monday night. Ordered a pizza and a couple of beers, ordered another couple of beers, still no pizza, about done with beer number two, try to find server to cancel pizza and get the f&@$ out. She grabs who I think is manager and pizza miraculously shows up average and lukewarm. Disappointing night just for a pizza and a few beers. We sat at the bar at Mac's and really enjoyed the bartender. Funny and attentive! I really liked the blueberry mule drink. Onion rings were ok, but the pizza was great! (We love pizza places and have tried many different ones) We sat at the bar when you first walked in, but didn't realize until later that the bar in the room on the right was brighter and more lively.
