Went here for lunch with work a few weeks ago and despite it being very busy, the 2 people working on the floor were friendly and moving getting everyone taken care of. This is neighborhood dive located in Oakbrook in Florence. It's a lively place with dartboards televisions and a friendly vibe. I ordered the cod sandwich on marble rye and it was gigantic. Carry out done right! We ordered two fish sandwiches to go. When we got home we were surprised to see everything carefully and attentively separated. An LD branded paper bag for the Saratoga chips to keep them crispy. The fish was tasty and crisp in its own separate box. The lettuce had its own little bag and so did the marbled rye. I got to eat a sandwich 30 minutes after it was prepared that was just as good as if it had just come out of the kitchen. The bartender was very helpful, served us a beer while we waited and then brought the food right to our table (no seats at the bar which was packed). I'm looking forward to the rest of the menu now given the attention to detail on a simple carry out order. read more

We just moved to the area 6 months ago, but never really got a chance to ditch the kiddos for a little bit- had a two hour window to sneak out, and seeing as this was close by, decided to give it a try. I was super hesitant, but my husband, longing for dive bars of old, talked me into going. And I LOVED it. We got the fried pickles which were great, and we both got sandwiches which we both enjoyed! Absolutely LOVE LDP. We started going as a family years ago when they would do trivia Saturday night. My sister went to school with the owners so she already knew him, but once we started going regularly it was like we all knew him. Their pint nights and trivia nights are a blast. Pint nights they'll run a special beer/mixed drink where you get to keep the glass. We've gotten quite a few cool glasses from them. They don't run trivia as often anymore since they've opened their Taylor Mill store, but that's okay! Both locations are great, family friendly, places to sit down and have dinner! And if you enjoy trivia, it'll be even better because you can have a good dinner, some cold beer, and compete in a friendly game of trivia against everyone in the restaurant. If I had two wishes here it would be to bring back trivia on a more consistent basis and to bring back the Woodford pizza!! It was so good! read more

I ordered lunch for my team at work. When I arrived I was seated my to go order was brought out, I gave the server at the bar my credit card. After about 10mins., he informs me that the credit card machine is down. He made the suggestion to pay with cash, living in the times we live in I seldom carry cash, this would be one of those times. After another 15mins., I asked what the manager had said and was told it will probably take around 10-20 mins. to fix. I explained that I was on a 30min. lunch and informed them I could not wait any longer, but was curious to know what they were going to do with the food. Bar guy said "I guess I'll have to go and talk the manager again". Finally, I was told by a blonde waitress to go on and go that they would take care of it. Nice pub in Florence. Plenty of tvs to watch games and delicious wing sauces. I really enjoy their garlic Parmesan wing sauce but everything I've tried here is good including the fried Oreos. This is one of the local restaurants my family and I love to go for a quick family meal. The food is always great, whatever we order it's always delicious. There's always something going on in this restaurant such as trivia night, karaoke night, deals on drinks on certain days and time. I recommend you find this out before you go to avoid the crowd and noise. This time we went on a busy Friday night- there's a party going on and ITS LOUD! The people in the party does not seem to mind that it's an open floor plan and the restaurant is not for them. I don't know how can this be avoided because we are all paying costumers. I think alcohol is a factor too. Anyways, I ordered a burger delicious, I always try different ones and I'm never disappointed. My daughter wrap and husband's chicken wings- delicious, no complaints from them. It's a bar that serves very good food. We went for the cod sandwich and it didn't disappoint. We got there about 530 and had a few minutes wait on a table. We have been here twice, both times with our two year old child. In my opinion, this is one of the best kept secret restaurants in NKY. When you walk in it's definitely has a no frills atmosphere about it, but it is extremely clean and inviting. The second time we went it was happy hour and they had select appetizers 1/2 off. We ordered the queso sticks and they tasted great. Our child ate quite a few of them! For dinner, we ordered a kids grilled cheese, a cheese pizza, and an order of "quackin" wings, a blend of BBQ and garlic wing sauce. SO SO GOOD! I can say the quackin wing sauce is my favorite of any restaurant in the area. The pizza my husband loved, I just thought it was okay. Reminded me a little too much of a frozen pizza taste. Overall we love the atmosphere, the prices are GREAT (especially during happy hour), and there is something on the menu for everyone. We will for sure be back! read more

I recently went for trivia night and liked Lucky Duck Pub, which features perfectly fine bar food with above average Saratoga chips. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with "fancy" sauce (mix of barbecue and garlic) on the side and Saratoga chips to accompany it. I thought it was a bit strange that a container of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ came on the side of the chips, but it was at least good, so I didn't mind it all that much. It would have been nice if there was a house-made sauced served with them instead. That was the only real "down" side. Everything else was perfectly fine. Alas, the best I can say about the Lucky Duck is that it is incredibly average. Over our two visits, we had their chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich, a fish sandwich and two different burgers. Everything was just okay to perhaps bland. Lots of beer taps, but lots of boring beers on them. Second time, there were also lots of kids. Lots of yelling, crying, running around, being ignored by their parents kids. Do yourself a favor and drive a little farther to either Holler Hops & Grill or Hebron Brew Haus. Went for the first time for lunch today after church to celebrate a friend's birthday. The food was ok. We had about 12 of us and none of us got our food at the same time. So, I was literally finished eating by the time the 2 people beside me even got their food. Also, I got my appetizer after my meal. When I brought it to the waitress' attention she said I didn't specify when ordering that I wanted it before the meal??? I thought it went without saying with an appetizer, but I guess I'd be wrong. We were very excited to go here to dinner, but upon looking at the menu and ordering we were promptly told several times "sorry we don't have this item anymore it's at the Taylor Mill location" this happened with at least 5 things that we tried to order. It was very frustrating. Then the most infuriating thing was two of us had ordered the same item (since clearly they only had 6 items at this location because everything else was at the Taylor Mill location) the other person had to wait 10mins for her burger when her and I ordered the SAME exact thing, but I received me and she didn't get hers. We asked about an up charge from chips to other side items we told to "I don't think it's much" oh yes it was.... The amount each of us paid was ridiculous. We didn't get the food we came in for. Half the food on the menu wasn't even available. We had to wait longer for the extra burger. Please, get new menus; it's very frustrating when you have your heart set on fish and chips and there are no fish and chips and you have to settle for mediocre chicken tenders and up charge of $2.50 for fries. To top it all off...THERE WAS NO TRIVIA We all literally couldn't even handle it. I gave y'all two stars to start out with and then I was writing this and then I just relived everything all over again. If I weren't rating the food I would've given 4 stars for the ambiance and service. I went to Lucky Duck for trivia last night (Tuesday night) and it was a lot of fun. It was also pint night so I got to drink a local pumpkin beer and keep the glassware for $5. Neat concept. The food however was nothing to write home about. I got a grilled chicken ranch wrap with a side of Saratoga chips. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything special. And for some reason I felt like there wasn't even any ranch inside the ranch wrap, so I used someone else's side of ranch to add some to it. read more

I have been to Lucky Duck multiple times. We have meetings there periodically for a non-profit organization I am involved in. The service is always outstanding, servers are kind, and patient. It can be hard to serve a group having a meeting, especially when everyone pays separately. It can be a lot of work, though the servers are always courteous and do a fabulous job. The food is good, I haven't tried a lot. I was disappointed that they removed one of my favorite appetizers - hummus and nan bread. I have a limited diet so I like having healthy options that are reasonably priced. My healthy, go-to item was removed, so bummed on that. Beer selection is fabulous. Always find something I like there that is usually local. I like that a lot. My only critique is that the place can get a bit loud, I understand it is a pub, don't get me wrong. I am mainly stating this for others that might want to gather there. We went on a night that had live music, they came on later in the evening when the meeting was almost over - but it was loud. Even after we were not officially meeting, just hanging having beers, it was still hard to converse because of the sound level. I've recently eaten here on two occasions. I have to tell you that I'm extremely pleased with what I thought would be a typical bar food pub. You know, cheese fries and chicken fingers. Too the contrary, I found the variety of food choices and the quality a huge surprise. I recommend the cod fish sandwich. It's killer. Pure white cod filet with none of that brown and gray stuff.
