The back of our home faces southwest and the afternoon sun beats in through our windows. We also have two large sliding doors that face that direction because of the view. In order to block some of the sun to provide some relief and reduce the risk of sun-bleaching our interior, we researched many different options including solar shades, blinds and curtains. All of those would have blocked the sun, but also our view. We also were unable to choose something we thought would work well for us. I was close to getting some cheap curtain rods and hanging sheets over them until one day, my wife was thinking about her car windows that were tinted earlier this year and she said, "We could look into tinting the windows on the back of the house." Because we were very pleased with the tinting Mac's did on her car, we reached out to Mac's again. We were told that they also do residential and commercial window tinting. So, we planned to visit and have some conversation with Mac. When we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, Mac greeted us at the door and we described our dilemma. We discussed options and were told to take measurements of the glass to send to them via email. We did and they promptly got back to us with a quote. My wife and I both said, "Let's go for it." We paid the down payment and asked when we could have it done. The work was completed within two weeks of our first conversation with Mac and they were able to complete the work on a Saturday so we could be home without taking off work. We absolutely love the results of the window tinting that Mac's did on the back of our house. We can still see the view but the light and UV that is blocked is significant. In addition, the cost to have them tinted was less than the other options we were evaluating. Mac also gives a discount to veterans which we really appreciated. We would recommend Mac's for all your window tinting needs.

Update: 12 months later, the tint is still in perfect condition, no bubbles, no peeling, no color fade or color shift. The ceramic tint is amazingly effective at keeping the interior cool in the summer.

I do not recommend this place. The new owner Sabrina did a horrible job we have over 30 blemishes per window on a new car that are noticeable over 20 feet away. She is very unprofessional. I wouldn't trust her to touch any of our other cars. We have to find someone else to fix her mistakes and would like to get a refund. The tint was done under my husband's name Jesus Salas. And yes, we have reached out to you and you are very disrespectful. We have text messages to prove how disrespectful you are. You are not professional at all we will be reaching out to the better business bureau and your insurance. This is exactly what I mean you take zero accountability for your work. This is is a REAL review. My family and friends have been coming here for over TEN years and Gunny Sergeant MAC (the owner) and the staff have been nothing short of AMAZING! We have had multiple cars and they always come out perfectly. Oh and if you're a U.S Military service member or a veteran, he gives you MASSIVE discounts. I really don't understand why some reviewers here give them a bad review but I am guessing they're just rude customers who can't be pleased if one little thing goes wrong. Take my word, come here and they will take great care of you and your vehicles! read more

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE Mac's has new owners as of July 2024. I didn't realize that sadly. From the moment I entered the front office things felt off but Mac's had such a good reputation, I let it go. When I picked my vehicle up at the end of the day I noticed a couple blemished but they indicated that was normal and to bring it back if I had issues. Well as soon as the weather got cold, the film apparently wasn't fully attached to the window and started peeling up everytime I opened my window (also makes a horrendous noise). I called Mac's and they were not helpful and indicated they could "look" at it but It wouldn't be under warranty since it's been a few months (contrary to what I was told when I was there). I'm going to Trimline to fix the botched job. read more

DO NOT GO HERE I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE!!! I had my windows tinted about a couple weeks ago and had mini bubbles on ALL my windows! Mac looked at it and said this can be redone (acknowledging it came out wrong) but CANNOT be done on a Saturday because it will not be profitable for him. I told him I am unable to get a weekday due to my work schedule and Saturday is the only day and told me "Well that's my fault" and hung up. read more

After 6 months of having the ceramic tint that cost 350$ it's starting to bubble and peal on corner windows. There is also I huge hair in the back window that has bothered me ever since I received the tint. Not to forget I'm 500$ down from spending a deductible for my insurance company to fix the razor blade scratched Mac did to my brand new 2022 Subaru. Guy is nearly blind and still does back windows... do not trust him with a razor blade when he outlines the window tint on your car. He dug deep into my window claming he thought it was glass. When confronting the damage immediately after tint was freshly installed, he decided to give me no receipt or proof of purchase for tint. He wanted me to trust his "integrity" to fix the damage. Over 6 months later I'm still in a battle with his insurance company and 350$ + 500$ down. If you have a new car this guy is great at creating the first scratch. read more

It's been 2 months since I got a razor blade scratch in my car from Mac installing my tint on my brand new 2022 car. We are now 2,000$ down. Thanks Mac Had to go through with insurance claim after Mac refuses to respond to my calls, texts, emails... now Mac is evading all calls through the insurance company too... What a perfect experience! Just had all of the windows including the sunroof tinted on my Lexus SUV. From start to finish, this process was absolutely flawless. The windows look fantastic, the turn time was fast, the price was fair and the materials they use are top notch. Mariana, the office manager, is absolutely phenomenal. She clearly explained every step to me, helped me choose the tint that would work best for what I wanted and was so knowledgeable, personable and sweet. Window tint job on the car required! per my skin Dr. And have been putting it off for awhile. So had to take care of this. So when looking for a business I always go to yelp and read posted reviews. looked at several shops and their reviews many to choose from. Im going with Macs Window Tinting. based on their reviews and an initial visit to the shop. It's a small shop in the center of a large. Building. Don't let the size of the shop worry you. Estimate was about 2 hours to tint 4 side windows and the hatch back I dropped my car off no rush call me when done. Professional and friendly knowleable customer service. They were very helpful in choosing tint shade for each window. I went with the ceramic tint for added protection, I stayed with in the legal limits. Plenty dark enough. They did an awesome job on my car. Very happy.. will schedule my wifes car soon. Note they are closed Sunday Monday. Text them for a quote include make model and year of vehicle. read more

Definitely a high quality tint job after I've taken 3 cars here. They use a ceramic type film that doesn't fade, blocks out more sun and looks great. The employees were courteous and did a great job during my quote of explaining the process. They made me feel like the only person they were helping despite being packed. It did cost a little bit more than some shops but for me and my vehicle I think it is important to use legit quality products and qualified installers. I've recommended several friends and family members and would recommend Macs to anyone. read more

This place is the bomb! Not only did they do an awesome job on my brand new Porsche but the customer service was fantastic! Mac the owner personally came out and explained all of my options. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He told me 1 hour and it was ready in 1 hour. He charged 180 for the 2 front windows which was well below other places in town. I am beyond happy with the tinting and I would recommend to anyone looking or considering getting Their windows tinted. 5 stars isn't enough he deserves 10! read more

I couldn't be happier! I love the tint job they did on my civic!! Mac was super friendly. Funny. Overall great guy. He brought me back to my car to explain some things. And was just the sweetest guy. 1. They were very accommodating. 2. Pricing was reasonable 3. They explained the different types of tints. (Especially since I live in California) 4. Mac put the heater on for us. Asked if we wanted the tv on. And they also offered us drinks. 5. He was funny! Very genuine. 6. I would highly recommend him to anyone! 7. I'll definitely take my next car there 8. They even gave me a "STOP" sign to put in my car so I wouldn't roll the windows down. (I like fresh air) 9. This place is legit. 9/13 Update I got the door panel fixed without any additional cost added onto me. The work Able's Restoration did is awesome! I can't even tell any different. Throughout this process Mac's windows tinting and Able's restoration were very polite and promptly, no party really wanted to drag this thing longer. Overall experience is very pleasant. The tinting job is fully dried, and it looks awesome! You can even use your suction based GPS holder and phone holder, no problem at all. I recommend you take your car to this place to get the job done. But remember to remind them about how fragile your 2017 Cherokee door panels are. lol read more

That means the "discounted" price is exactly what I was quoted originally. In other words, the price was inflated to create the appearance of a deal. That kind of pricing tactic is misleading. It relies on manufactured urgency rather than honest, consistent pricing, and it raises questions about how transparent the business actually is once you're past the quote stage. For a simple, straightforward service, there's no reason to play games with numbers. If pricing changes, that should be explained clearly. This wasn't that. Because of this, I wouldn't do business here and wouldn't recommend it to others. Trust matters, and this approach doesn't inspire it.

I've been chatting with The Tint Shoppe on Instagram since last winter about another car I've been…read morewanting to get the windows tinted on but fate delivered me a new car that will be subjected to the harsh conditions of Mount Rose Highway in the winter so it got to get the full treatment first. I called the competition I had been using for years and they were not able to get me in on a timely basis. In fact they wanted to schedule me on two different days. That just didn't work for me as I'm a busy guy. The Tint Shoppe got me in quickly and in one overnight visit. I had the full front of the car wrapped in self healing paint protection film with the hood, fenders and bumper completely wrapped. They wrap the film around the edges which provides extra protection. On my previous car the film was only on the front 3/4 of the hood fenders and bumpers, but not wrapped around the edges of the hood. A rock hit right on the edge and the paint chipped. It was held in place by the film but looked bad nonetheless. The wrapped edges should provide some protection against that happening. I also had the paint protection film placed on the door sills and they also did the inside of the door handles where ones nails often scratch the paint. I had the front side windows tinted with the ceramic film to match the back windows and it looks great. I am extremely pleased with the results. Bella was also there to keep me company as I was waiting for my ride. The car that still needs the window tinting done is going to get the treatment next.

After walking out to inspect my car, I realized the front windshield had not been tinted. I had paid $420 for only the four doors and the back window, which I assumed covered the entire car. When I went back inside, I was told the windshield was an additional charge. That should have been clearly explained upfront. On top of that, I was informed I would need to sign a waiver before they would tint the front windshield. To be fair, the quality of the tint job was good. However, their communication and transparency were extremely poor. Customers should not have to guess what is included in the price. Clear explanations about pricing, services, and requirements should be provided before the work begins." Good workmanship does not excuse misleading expectations and lack of communication.

Of course, Northern Nevada weather showed up on appointment day, but Roman stayed in touch and managed to get the job done during a short break in the storm. He and another guy came out, worked fast, and were super thorough. What really impressed me was the price--way better than other companies I checked out, and those weren't even mobile services. I'm really happy with how everything turned out and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Roman to anyone. I'll definitely call him again if I ever need glass work done in the future!

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. If I could give 0 stars I would. Do not take your brand new car here. Brought my 2022 Subaru crosstrek with less then 1,000 miles to get windows tinted. They scratched the whole back trunk of my car with a razor blade under the window when doing the back window. . They are extremely difficult to get into contact with. They don't answer phone calls, or emails. After going to liberty collision in Reno, they estimated the damages to be 2,000$$$. They had to take the whole back window off the trunk, get the deep scratches out of the paint and metal, and will need to repaint the whole trunk of the car. I called them on my personal phone multiple times, and they would not pick up. You need to leave them a message. I left them some messages saying I wanted to talk about what would happen next and never got any phone calls. I had to use my friends phone to call and make a fake message saying I wanted to get my car windows tinted and needed to ask about price. They immediately called back. I picked up the phone and told them I was the person with the Subaru crostrek that was scratched, and I wanted to talk to Mac. Mac got on the phone and I told him I had an appointment for liberty collision on nov 3rd to get my car fixed (3 months out). He told me he wanted to check at other places locally for a cheaper price before moving forward and he was going to call and ask them and let me know. (He has no pictures of damage and is just going to explain what he saw) He didn't even ask for photos, he is just going to tell the shop that there are scratches that need to be polished out. Basically doing it the cheapest possible way he can do it, on a brand new 2022 Subaru crostrek, with less then 1000 miles. It has been extremely difficult to talk to him, and I fear my car will not be fixed properly and done the cheap way. This company is underground and will do everything as cheap as they possibly can. Matter of fact, they don't pay taxes either. So they only accept cash, and pocket it, avoiding the IRS. Not only is this illegal, it's unfair and cheap. If you go to this shop and something happens to your car, don't expect a receipt, or any proof of payment along with evidence that they worked on your car and potentially damaged it. Now I still believe they will pay for the damage on my car. But with so many 5 star reviews I would have expected better customer service and not an illegal underground shop that is cheap and goes off of "integrity". This has been the worst experience of my life with any business I have gone to. And now I will need to come back from college during school hours and drive 3 hours from Chico to Reno in 3 months to have my car in the shop for 2 weeks possibly longer. Yes I did pay them after seeing the scratch, 350$. And I still believe they will pay for this damage, if not I fear I will need to press charges for vandalism. If you love your car, don't take it to this place. You will regret it. read more

I've been getting my car windows tinted at Mac's for years. In fact, they're the only place I've ever been to for tinting. I was one of those guys who thought for decades that tinting was kinda weird, and then I did a Forester because there was just so much glass. Loved it, and have done every car since. What sold me on tinting is how it really does help with heat. It's not just privacy and such. What continues to keep me coming back to Mac's is the quality of the work. It really does feel like it's part of the original equipment on the car; not just some kind of aftermarket add-on. I just did a '24 WRX and it turned out great. They had a place on Vasser for years but now they work out of a special building in a residential neighborhood. I was a little unsure when I found out about the new location, but it turned out to be a nice set-up and no problem. I can't speak to price, since I never bothered to shop around. But I can speak to value, and I recommend them highly. read more

Wow this place is great! They did my windows about a year ago and last month a rock popped up while driving in the bay area and broke my driver side front window:-( Needless to say the window even though it shattered, stayed in place because of the high quality tint rather than all the glass falling in my lap on the freeway. I was able to drive more then 100 miles home and get the window fixed and retinted. Mac and his associates are very professional and quick and use the best tint. He had me in and out in less then 20 mins and was very accommodating as I was in a rush. Thank you Mac I will send recommend you to everyone! read more

Have had 3 cars done here at macs one car mine and two friends two of the cars came out great.Well last week one of my friends took there car to mac to get the windows tinted.Compered to the first two this was a poor job dirt and daylight....Mac said this was normal.Iam not one to complain a lot but i did realize that mac did my friends car and not the normal guy that did the other two cars....I will give macs another chance to be fair but will try to get the same person who did the last two cars to do the work........Thank you hope this helps everyone read more

Ended up not having these guys tint my windows. When I called they were rude and wanted me to come down immediately even though I told them I couldn't. It felt like they needed the money more than anything. When I asked about the films they use, they guy told me, I looked it up and found out they use low quality films. Not to mention they wanted to charge me more than what I was quoted by several other shops in town. Very reasononably priced, and they will answer any questions you have, show you what options that you have, and keep you legal, which was what I wanted to have. I went to three shops for estimates. Of the three, Mika at Mac's was the most informative, patient, and helpful as well as giving me the best price considering warranty and darkness. I appreciate the shop being located in an industrial area and having a modest waiting room, rather than having to help pay for the overhead of a fancier address and facilities.
