My complaint is re the new pharmacist at the Sonora MACT Pharmacy. I had been getting my meds from that pharmacy for many years and had been very pleased with the staff and level of service. Enter the new pharmacist last spring and that all changed. First, the wonderful staff who had been there for years fled when this new guy was hired. Why did they all leave? There has been a continual turnover in staff since he was hired. What is going on there that is causing this massive turnover in staff? I've had six surgical procedures on my spine over the years that has left me having to endure significant constant pain. My pain level is somewhat mitigated thru the use of medications. When I went to pick up my meds the pharmacist rolled his eyes and made an insulting derogatory comment regarding my medication usage. No one should have to be subjected to that kind of smug, judgmental, verbally abusive and insensitive treatment. It was evident that this pharmacist has some sort of disorder where he feels it's acceptable to insult the customers. I immediately switched to another pharmacy. Hopefully other customers have not had to endure this sort of insulting behavior from that guy. He is a stain on the entire MACT Healthcare Board. There is a chronic shortage of licensed pharmacists in this state, so I'm sure the MACT superiors will overlook a lot of abusive behavior before they do anything to rectify the matter. read more

My medical P.A. is a great guy but now they want to take pain meds away from us who we are mature, responsible older adults who have all kinds of pain including rumatism and arthritis in many places. They are not compassionate just kissing the axx of the health organization to get everyone off pain meds and there is no physical therapy that can help, I tried it. Now that life is harder to live each day we are trying to find a pain manager to start us again to pain meds which are quick to take and quick for relief. I am so mad that I now have to start my research to have what I had for many years that helped me work and get through the day. I think we are being discriminated against. We have drove to Sonora ca from Modesto 2 times just for the office to tell me that we could not be seen today ! I called in yesterday and they said that my partner Linda Mogg had an appointment today so we went there for them to tell us that they were sorry Someone needs to step in the middle of the Sonora office and straighten them out It is 50 miles one way to drive there and that's the second time! read more

MACT is the worst, all team members we've spoken to don't care, are not empathetic, are defensive, rude, accusatory, don't follow their own policies and don't apologize for errors. They said they didn't receive faxes from pharmacy so I shared a copy of the transmission report from pharmacy and MACT still didn't apologize. In addition to pharmacy calling, we called 2 days in a row for my brother's prescription since we live an hr. away & would be there those days, they failed to respond or fill it and when pressed further stated IT needs to unlock acct. so Dr. can fill. I made the hr. trek the 3rd day, showed a picture of my brothers visible right tendon and said "I'm not leaving until the prescription is sent for pain meds", it was magically filled within the hr. They dropped my brother as a patient 4/10 after stating he missed 3-4 appts. Wrong, it was 2 appts. We grieved the 1st 2 appt. "no shows" from Jan. because we came to appt. We thot we were 5 min. early but were 10 min. late, I apologized. They gave me paperwork to complete then registered us and said we can't see you now since it's 1min. past the 15 min. allowance and we took the patient that was scheduled after you. I said, you chose to register us late we've been sitting here and thot you registered us when we walked in, you can give us their appt. since you gave them ours. She said no I asked the Dr. we're too busy today. I was in tears and asked why they had us fill out paperwork and shared we'd driven 1.5 hrs. and my brother was on the mend from nearly dying due to a fall in Dec. I called and complained when we got home and the rep apologized (only apology we got!), scheduled another appt. for the following day. I said I'm not sure I can make it back & she said it's ok just cancel in the morning if you can't, so I did, they counted both of these appt. as "no shows". They said to appeal it with the board, no thanks I would NEVER go back to MACT. We established with Sutter. There are no primary care Dr.'s available in Jackson you have to go to Lodi, Stockton, Sac, Modesto. MACT knows this, it shows in their service. Other patients in the lobby said they had similar experience, they're only there because no others are accepting patients. If you're not a caring person leave the health care profession! read more

When I first met the optometrist at Mact Health I was told my glasses and examination would be $385, which I paid. Then I get a letter saying I owe an additional $115.00 plus $26.20. My glasses now are going to cost over $500. I will go to Sierra Eye Care next time. read more

Took my 3 year old son here for his well child and he had to have shots. His provider was not only patient but kind, and the MAs and Nurses were so so good at their job. He didn't even cry when he got the shots! read more

BBBBZZZZTTTT Thanks for playing. Like every other Indian Health Services clinic, patient treatment suffers due to untrained and lazy staff, obnoxious supervisors and cubicle-warrior administrations made out of rejects from junior college that think they are God's Gift to Healthcare. IHS says that because clinics are required to take Medicaid and Medicare that they have to have practitioners working there who take it. Nope - all they have to have is one per field in the whole organization. Agree w the previous poster who says it's nothing more than a cash mill for the tribe consortium that operates it. Staff leave there usually after under a year and practitioners are quick to follow. Other than billing - staff have zero experience with formatting medical records in order to ensure that beneficiaries can get on or stay on various State and Federal benefit programs. Their lone doctor who accepts Medi-Cal and Medicare either doesn't want to or can't fill out a simple wheelchair form for a bariatric man, clinical staff who supposedly graduated out of their medical program with passing grades have zero idea what a bariatric is and zero clue regarding the necessary adaptations thereto. All the other medical personnel are nurse practitioners - which can't or won't fill out wheelchair prescription forms and run the necessary interference with the required State agencies. Then when all but one of their doctors only takes cash and nobody in the third-poorest county in the State has any - they whine and complain that their patient roster is empty. Supervisors and managers are equally clueless and when education is provided, they balk and refer issues to their cubicle-warrior equally-ignorant sorry-excuse-for-an-administrator - who refers issues to his Tribal Counsel - who is also ignorant - forcing issues to go back to the IHS to get educated and enforced. Then when the IHS administration DOES educate - they are slow and obstructive in the compliance dept. Not to mention their whole demeanor regarding non-tribal people leaves a considerable amount to be desired. In violation of just about every healthcare directive in the modern world, instead of having a patient-centric culture - this place has a program-centric view of healthcare that's been out of fashion in the rest of the healthcare world for nearly 20 years. Tribal people may have to tolerate that kind of environment from lack of other resources - but it would behoove everybody else to go to Adventist Health in Sonora or the newly acquired Mark Twain Medical Center by Catholic Health in San Andreas especially once the mandatory Medicare and Medi-Cal acceptance laws go into effect later this year, For everything else - if you want to get decent care by medical staff who know what they are doing - you need to go back to the city like everybody else who moved out here because they got priced out. The gas or wheelchair van ride down is a lot better than tolerating all these idiots. Suffice it to say - staff, providers and patients as well have apparently been leaving for greener pastures for a long time now and you'd be wise to do the same. What a horrible place to walk into.. I've always thought that when you took so much time to learn and do something you wanted, you took pride in that. Not these day, I walked in and everyone had a look on their face like it was the first time they ever saw that door open... then looked away. Who's paying these people anyway.. I called a couple days before and when I had talked to a lady I thought "shoot, I'll give it another try because maybe she was having a bad day" somewhere along those lines. Hahaha. While Dr. Kifune was in the San Andreas Clinic, treatment was reasonably prompt and consistant. Ever since he retired just before Christmas, Treatment of any kind has been nearly impossible to get. Mact Health Board has ASSUMED that 2 extremely judgmental and self important nurse practitioners will suffice to handle anyones health needs. The simple fact is that they only suffice as an excuse to bill health insurance companies. I rarely go to see a Doctor unless absolutely necessary. MACT was recommended by another Doctors office I have used. While I live in Jackson, I had to go to the San Andreas office as Jackson was full. (30-40 minute drive) What a Gift! I see a Nurse Practitioner and a Counselor. Every visit has been phenomenal as they take the time to know you and never make you feel rushed or timed. I have not felt this comfortable with any sort of medical professional in my life.
