Malls, and department stores were always a stable growing up in the 1990s. It's sad/ happy feeling for yet another department store closure and mall redevelopment . This Macy's I thought for sure was larger then Walden Galleria, and even had Macy's Backstage. They tried, overall large layout, will be sad to see it close. I purchased a rug online and it was delivered promptly. Two weeks later the same rug was on sale for $95 less. I called customer service, waited forever until a woman from the Philippines answered, and explained my dilemma. I was told that a simple price adjustment was out of the question. My only option was for Macy's to send a UPS truck to my house to pick up and return the rug, and then I was to order a new rug at the sale price. What an incredible hassle, and pricey for Macy's. The UPS truck arrived two days later to collect the rug, and the new rug arrived ten days later. Now the real hassle began, which has convinced me to never shop at Macy's again due to their horrific customer service. I was never credited for the returned rug! I made numerous calls and had lengthy conversations with people who promised to "look into it and call me back" and to no avail! Finally, two months later, I had to get a third party involved who spoke with someone in management, who promised to credit our charge card. We still haven't received the cash we paid. Never again, Macy's. You had many chances to remedy this situation and you failed miserably. read more

I know a lot of people love Macy's, but I went in here looking like I'd just rolled out of bed, trying to buy a last minute gift for someone that loves Macy's, and maybe it was the fact that I looked so out of it, or the fact that I told her I had a Macy's gift card (i.e. I wouldn't be spending any new money in the store), but the assistant lady treated me like absolute crap in my opinion. Couldn't be bothered to deal with me, and sneered at me and even a couple of disparaging remarks. However the gift went down very well so I guess that is what matters in the end. read more

I love love love Macy's. It's so sad how bad this location has gotten in the Blvd mall. I wish they would still keep up the store since it is technically a stand alone store. I went there to see if they had a purse I wanted so I wouldn't have to buy it online and they barely had anything on display. Lots of old season purses and very poor looking set up. It really is sad. Macy's is pretty much my one stop clothing shop. I can always find my favorite brands and correct sizes, if not in the store then online. Hi Ike so many other large stores, staff are relatively easy to find, always friendly, and the store is kept in reasonable order, even during their incredible clearance events. (I just got an $80 Tommy for $9.) You really should never have to pay full price. Apply for a Macy's card, if you can, and enjoy endless amounts of discount coupons, often 25% off or more, even on many sale items. read more

My first time at this mall yesterday, I went into the store and did not realize that men and women's departments were separated into 2 locations. I asked this woman in the make-up department if she could tell me where the men's room was and where the men's wear was. Her reply - VERBATIM, "Are you a customer?" "Yes." "Restrooms are only for customers." "Yes, I'm a customer." "No you're not, you're cleaning staff." At this point, she waves for another associate to come over and points at me and says, "He wants to use the restroom!" The other woman looks at me and says, "Men's store is outside at the end of the mall!" Of course, my curiosity was piqued. "Why do you think I'm cleaning staff?" I ask the first woman. She replies, " You're wearing a uniform!" I'm wearing a blue vest. At this point, I'm pretty irritated, and I'm wondering where do cleaning staff go to the bathroom at Macy's? Do they have a separate restroom somewhere in the basement? A lone cement urinal by the boiler room, out of sight of paying customers? Very disappointing first contact with a Macy's. read more

This place is a ghost town when it comes to finding somewhere to even pay for your items. I had to go to another department just to check out. Once there the service was decent but I was all ready frustrated because I had questions prior to check out with no answers to be found. Had to return an online order another time. Went to the mens store and was then told that I had to go to the main store to return anything. What a pain, no wonder there's no one parked outside of the mens section. I'm barely 5"1, and I can only shop in stores that have petite sections; otherwise, the proportions are off. I was astounded at the size of the petite section at the Macy's at the Boulevard Mall. It wasn't just a corner of the store, as it is in so many others, but was about three large sections. At first glance, I was afraid that the clothes were too old-fashioned, but as I went through the racks, I found that there were some more classic styles spread throughout. I left with about seven new garments. I am very picky about what clothes I buy. I need to make sure that the color and fit are right. So that I was able to find seven garments says something about the selection that they offer. As long as they continue to stock items for petites, I'll be coming back! read more

There are a few occasions when I leave a store and write myself a reminder to go home and fill out an online customer service survey to praise the service I received. I've done this twice now for employees at this Macy's location. Someone is doing their job right at this store when it comes to hiring and training their employees. I regularly shop here and have yet to have a bad experience. I am always greeted within minutes of walking into each department, in addition to having someone occasionally check up on me if I need help. Numerous times, when at the register, I've been asked if I had a coupon and I've had to respond that I did not receive one or had left it at home. In each of these instances, the employee has taken the time to track down a coupon for me and/or give me some other discount. Something so simple, yet, totally unnecessary. It's those little things that keep bringing me back to Macy's. The staff is friendly, helpful, and goes above and beyond for their customers. Great location to shop at! read more

I'm a self-proclaimed brick-and-mortar department store discount shopper. I usually prefer JC Penney because they constantly send me great coupons. But if I'm at the mall and have time, I usually head over to Macy's next. Macy's also has good sales and clearance, but where they excel compared to Penney's is name brands. It's my husband's go-to for finding clearance Calvin Klein sweaters for under $15 or $20 bucks a piece. I have had good luck scouring clearance racks for both name-brand work and casual diggs, plus kids stuff too. But like any markdown shopping, finds are hit or miss. This particular store is pretty well organized, and clean enough. Like other large stores, checkouts are more spread out now because shoppers are generally more sparse. Unless it's holiday time, I've never seen it too busy. Men's and housewares are upstairs, first floor is mostly women's clothes and shoes, plus kids and cosmetics. This is a review of the Men's Store, which I've been to a few times since I moved to Buffalo, mostly with either obtaining gifts for Lee, or taking him in to do some shopping. It's a decent men's store, and of course with any Macy's, the very best time to go is when they are having a sale. This one is sometimes a little bit disorganized and messy. Their shoe selection is meh. I have done in-store pickup for online orders here, and that works very well. The clerks are friendly and courteous without being excessively helpful. If you want a department store where you won't get a ton of sales pressure, this is a good Macy's to head to. If you want one with a bigger selection, I'd go to the one in Walden Galleria. read more

I would highly recommend shopping elsewhere if at all possible. Went here on a weekend to return a gift that I got for Christmas. Admittedly, I did not have a receipt and a part of the price tag was ripped off. I started downstairs where the associate continued to attempt about 10-15 times to scan the item when I finally informed her that it looked to me like the price tag was partially ripped to hide price. She finally informed me that I would need to go to the home goods department. I promptly went to the home goods department and waited in line behind two other customers. When I finally got up to the register the associate simply walked away without saying a word while I stood speechless as to what had just happened. There were two other registers in the general area both of which had no associates present. I then picked up my item and went to one of those registers to wait for an associate to come and assist me. Another couple with a return got in line behind me to wait for someone to help us. There did not appear to be any button or bell to signal anyone that customers were waiting for service. After waiting for about 10 minutes for someone to come over the same woman who had walked away from me without a word at the prior register appeared and offered a seemingly half hearted apology for the wait without mentioning that she walked away without an explanation and she exclaimed that she was the only employee scheduled to cover the whole department. She was unable to help me and needed to call a manager to which she continued griping about the manager not responding to her call for assistance. When the manager finally arrived she again moved me to another register and offered no apology and barely addressed the concern that I had been in the store for roughly 40 minutes which seemed excessive to make a single return. This store made me think that they did not value my time and/or business based on this experience. I will use my store credit online and hopefully never need to go to this store again and would recommend others do the same. read more

This location is chill, the registers never have lines, and the staff always helps me with sizes. I am in between tow sizes so I have to try everything on, it's the best here because they will go get the size I need if I'm stuck in the fitting room, a huge time saver so I don't have to get dressed again each time. read more

Overpriced and understaffd. Called to ask if they carried a brand of handbags and had to call 15 times only to get hung up on when I finally got someone on the line. I'll be going to JC penny or the outlet stores from now on. Now I know why it's always empty when I walk by at the mall. The biggest issue I have with this Macys is that it's difficult to find an associate to help in the women's department. With that being said, if you really have the time to dig around, there are decent deals here, especially in the home goods section upstairs. I have frequented this Macy's to buy wine glasses, champagne glasses and serving platters, dishes, etc for parties. I recently purchased 12 champagne glasses for $11 with the 15% coupon that Macy's has in their ads regularly. I didn't even say that I had a coupon and the woman assisting me at the counter scanned one anyways, great customer service. Their pyrex glass cooking pans are the same price if not more affordable than stores like Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. I have never had a long wait at makeup or fragrance counters and the place is tidy for the most part. I usually won't shop here unless I have something specific that I'm looking for. read more

My best friend purchased 4 place settings of my daughters good china. Since she lives in Atlanta and the wedding is in Buffalo, I suggested that she return the place settings and have them send it, as I had done (with all of her shower gifts) at the Boulevard Mall. Eastern Hills Mall also told me that they would accommodate a similar request(allow me to return the gift so it can be sent by Macy's). She asked the McKinley Mall to do this and they said 'it is not their policy'. How could Macy's have different policies in different stores in the same area??? I wish someone could provide the "Macy's policy". Maybe it is not as good as I provided earlier. Perhaps I just got a good wedding planner to do this and the one at McKinley Mall is not so good...... read more

WITHOUT A DOUBT THE WORST DEPTARTMENT STORE IN WNY. CONGRATS YOU'RE NUMBER ONE!Service is awful or better yet nonexistent. What happened to the upkeep of this store it looks like garbage. The floors are filthy chipped and look like hell. So I'm going to wrap up two separate visits into one review. Visit one the clerk pushed a full heavy rack of clothes in front of a fitting room that had 5 people in it so new people wouldn't go in. She then tells us we are ok to use the fitting rooms guess what you've just made it difficult to get in and out. Thanks. Now finding a cashier so much fun after being turned down for assistance by the sunglass kid a girl who was hanging out with some buds came over to help. Aw thanks. Visit two. Men's cuff links at the men's macys. The clerk couldn't be bothered simply saying they are over there pointing and walked from the register. Went to Macy's about a week ago for a luggage set that was on sale for $40. When I arrived, there were about four women ready to sale me perfume and make-up, but as I made myself upstairs, blah. All I wanted to know was the luggage set in store. I asked one associate and he pointed me to another associate, I waited for her to tell me she didnt know either. My boyfriend and I went here recently, visiting from the States. I hate shopping so I don't often do a lot. While I was here, I bought four pairs of pants and two shirts that I loved. When we got to the checkout, a woman named Marilyn helped us out. She was the best part of our whole experience at the store. She was super friendly and helpful and really did go the extra mile to help us out. After she rang us through, she got us an online coupon to save us even more money on the already sale prices.
