This location's shoe department is often in such disarray. I used to enjoy coming to Macy's years ago, because of their exceptional personalized customer service. Maybe there are just too many customers now and not enough staff. It's all so different now. Customers also have a lack of care regarding cleaning up after themselves. With that aside, I am usually lucky to find a pair of shoes or two when I'm in the area. That is why I provided the second star. There aren't many physical shoe stores around unless you are looking for sneakers. So we deal with the chaos in hopes of finding a gem in the midst of it all. read more

Has the retail parade passed Macy's by? Blaming Macy's problems on Amazon is far too simplistic although I wouldn't be shocked if the e-tail colossus takes the reigns on Thanksgiving parading sometime soon. Macy's has largely sabotaged themselves by cheapening their product mix and house brands while leaving the Marshalls of the world to undercut them on designer goods. It also doesn't help that the store seems unkempt and the staff, if you can find them, are sleepwalking in place. I have towels from fifteen years ago that still wear like iron, while more recent purchases may not see the end of 2024. What's needed is some kind of miracle on 34th Street although I'll settle for well kept displays and a cashier who's awake. Roll over Macy's and tell Gimbels the news. Two sorry stars. read more

In this Macy's they have a wide selection of different brands of jewelry like Givenchy, Kate Spade, and Michael Kors, and other brands and they often have good deals too. They have a pretty good rewards program too. Susan and Lidja are nice from cosmetics, very helpful! Always friendly service from cosmetics and any other department. Security grab my son in an unprofessional way, and my son almost fell down the escalator after he just got out of bad car accident. Kway was the head of security and Katie, who was extremely nasty and rude. They forced My Son to write a confession and he said he didn't write one. They threatened to call the cops and they were extremely unprofessional. My son is a minor and he almost got hurt because of how the Security Guard grabbed him and pushed him. There were witnesses and I'm disgusted by how Macys treat Minors, when My Son stated he didn't write a statement. I told Katie he didn't write one and she said well you weren't there. My son said he didn't write one so they're lying and force my son to stay and write something. He doesn't even know what he was writing. How do you know a retailer doesn't want your business? When you can't find an employee to take your money. Today, I was trying to buy underwear, and there was no cashier in the women's lingerie section. There was also no sign telling customers where they might be able to find a cashier. I found an employee arranging merchandise in another department; she told me to go to the counter in children's clothing. Nobody was at that counter. I found two more employees stocking shelves and asked them for help. They pointed me back to the unstaffed counter and shouted for another employee to help me. Ultimately, the cashier was both apologetic and helpful. While the situation wasn't her fault, I told her (kindly) that it's ridiculous for staffing to be so stretched that there's not at least one cashier on point for an entire side of the floor. I get the concept of having employees stocking shelves or straightening up displays when the register is quiet, but to have three employees on the floor and unable/unwilling to do a transaction is... something. Either there's a process/training issue here, or a hiring issue. read more

Started my mattress search today. Okay selection. I think I like Stearns and Foster! They're also having a home sale, which is helpful. I should buy really soon. There's been lots of rain and flash flooding in the area lately, so the shopping experience was dimmed considerably by dank, old water smell, stiff air, and no AC (just fans, as pictured) They might also do well to take care of some of the stains on mattresses. Macy's Backstage is the best thing that's happened to affordable retail since Marshall's and TJ Maxx. I went to the store today in search of a cute outfit to wear on a date, and little did I know that Macy's had opened this new section in the bottom level (less than a month ago) which was a VERY pleasant surprise. Macy's Backstage blew me away with its low prices...they are comparable to the Last Chance section -even better- but the clothing racks are MUCH more organized and there's a wide variety of sizes in the same styles. I walked out of there with a complete outfit head-to-toe, including 2 tops, a bottom, 2 bras and wedge sandal shoes... all for under $85! Talk about ballin' on a budget!! read more

I ordered an Apple Watch online and went to this location to return it. I went straight to the watch section on December 27th in the early afternoon. The guy at the watch section was rude and looked at me up and down -- "what is it?" After I tell him it is an Apple Watch that I purchased online that I would like to EXCHANGE for another color, he points to another associate and tells me to go to the second associate. I go to the second associate and tell him I want to EXCHANGE the Apple Watch, but he tells me because I purchased it online, I have to go to the jewelry section for "RETURNS." I go to the jewelry section and the sales associate Angela does not even tell me that she is going to send back the watch on my behalf and just goes ahead and does it in the back. During this time, I thought she was going to the back room to process the return and I would be able to leave the store with an exchange for another color. NOPE. She tells me that they will return the Apple Watch because it is an online order and I will have to wait to get my refund back after the watch is returned. However, in the past, when I purchased any other item, I was able to receive a full refund on the spot or get it exchanged for something else regardless of whether the item was bought at the store or online. I call 1-800 customer service number, and they tell me that I should have been credited on the spot at the Macys store and should go back and request for a full refund. I drive back to Macys and talk to Angela and she says that the email is enough as a return reciept and I should not worry. I ask her to give me back the Apple Watch, but the fourth associate standing next to her then tells me -- "you can take the Apple Watch back, but because it is already processed, only thing you can do is take it to UPS. It must be returned." I asked why and that is when the fourth associate says -- "Oh, because it is store policy to have all online purchases for watches and jewelry to be sent back." Now by this time, it was about an hour later after speaking with multiple representatives and going back and forth to the Macys store location. Oh and to make things worse, I had to speak to about 11 associates in total from both the store and over the phone to FINALLY get my refund back 3 weeks later. No one seemed to know what they were doing. Seriously not going to shop with Macys for awhile. read more

On May 10 at 8:20 PM I was in the shoe department of Macy's. I asked to be assistant for a size by Carmen the sales person. She refused stating she had to clean up but a minute later assisted to other customers of a Latino persuasion. I waited and she continued to assist them not taking into consideration of my presence. In addition, there was another customer who needed to be assisted for shoe size she confronted another sales person for assistance. I also asked to be assisted to, and felt that this was poor customer service, and was given preferential treatment by the other customers. I feel that this sales person needs to be retrained or reassigned to another department. This is why they have overnight crews in stock people customers come first not the merchandise, especially in the height of a sale. read more

I like that the company has consistency of brands and store policies that mean you're treated reasonably well. That said, no one spoke to me at all. Thought I would get my mother some earrings for her birthday. so I ordered these to her PO Box with the same day delivery option unaware that Macys uses DoorDash to do this, I was in an important ceremony for the military and the Dasher tried to reach me, my phone was off at the time, and instead of dropping off the earrings at the PO Box she "returned" it to the mall. I had to call the mall and it took 20 minutes on hold for the jewelry department to pick up, I was asking if the earrings were still there and they could not find my order at all. All I can hope for out of this mess is a full refund which I have to wait 5-7 days to even see. I don't know who needs to see this review but be careful with same day delivery and understand there is some shadiness that should be addressed. How do you lose earrings that were just returned to the store AND come up as still being shipped? I'm very unhappy and going to get word around as much as I can. read more

I was in a bind today and needed heels for work when the airline lost my luggage. Juanita in the shoe department was amazing! She assisted me right away, let me try on 6-8 pairs of shoes very quickly, and helped me decide on 2 pairs that worked great. I really feel for all the associates that work in the men's department. I'm sure this is not what they wanted to be when they grew up. Parents, take your kids here and have them observe the associates. Ask them if this is what they want to do when they grow up. Teach them that if they don't work hard now, then they won't work hard later and they'll end up working at the mall during Christmas season. The men's department is a disaster area. The words "neat" and "organized" were killed on 12am, Black Friday. You'll be able to find clothes in the general area of where they are supposed to be. You know what, I take that back, the Hugo Boss and Polo Ralph Lauren sections are fairly intact. But once you start climbing down that ladder of affordability, the clothes become harder to find. The clearance racks are a free-for-all, a fiasco even, a certified ignominy. Good luck to all who venture into that abyss. You will have to check piece by piece for a deal. Never assume that anything on a hanger is where it should be or on clearance. Thankfully, there are plenty of price scanners around to help keep you within budget. Do not tread lightly... read more

Unlike it's ghetto sibling in East Brunswick, this Macy's is actually pretty decent. I don't do a lot of shopping, but when I do, I try and nail an entire season's worth of clothes in one shot. Macy's is great for that. There are myriad numbers of coupons floating around at any given time. And if you have a Macy's charge card, you don't have to keep track of these coupons anymore -- they all show up in an inventory when you pay, and you simply select the ones you want to apply to your purchase. Genius. Pure genius. This particular outpost has a decent selection of designer mens clothing, and the fitting rooms aren't overly scary. It does get crowded, to be sure, but they seem to do a good job of spreading all the help around such that you can pay wherever the line is shortest. If you don't have any coupons when you pay, tell the clerk at the register and they'll use their own ID card to make sure you get a little something off. All in all, boys, there are far worse places to shop. Decent clothes. Great value. A mostly painless shopping experience. read more

After getting no help at Men's Warehouse My son and I walked into the Macy's Suit Department. We met a older gentleman with white hair dressed very nicely. This person was the nicest salesman I have ever met! He was very knowledgeable and took the time to find out exactly what my son wanted. I wish I knew his name but this salesperson hooked my son up. One of the worst experiences in a store I've had in a while -- If you have claustrophobia or hate feeling trapped, this is not the place for you. It took me and my friend nearly 15 minutes just to find the exit. The mirrors on the pillars scattered everywhere make it disorienting to find your way around, and a lot of items aren't even sorted. I would attach a photo, but I didn't take any. Picture it as a massive mirror maze, if you get lost in that, you'll get lost in Macy's. Was also notably hot in the store from our experience. I said excuse me to two women who pointed me in the direction, which happened to be less then a foot away from them. I stood there waiting for them to come assist me however, they continued to talk about their day. It would have been an easy sale because I told them what I wanted... The workers here need some training. All we needed were a simple pair of pantyhose. I asked the lady at the register where I could find them, and she states, "Near the accessories". Obviously, I don't know my way around the store! Wow, umm... thanks? After a few more minutes walking, we finally found the pantyhose and once again needed help. 3 floors of stock, and not one helpful employee. Every department I've visited, it's like nobody knows what is going on or how to help customers. Only half the watch department has the contraption to remove the security tag and instead of going to get the contraption, they send me away to other cashiers. The men's department doesn't know where they keep their overstock of men's wallets. The bedding department can't tell me which sheets are on sale, I have to use the price checker to find that out. I have found some very good deals at this Macy's, especially when I remember my coupons, but the customer service is atrocious. The only good experiences I've has is when I visit the watch repair shop to change a battery or remove links from watches. Those guys are helpful, quick, and knowledgeable. read more

It's a decent macys, better brands than woodbridge mall. Large shoe department for women. Macys always has better prices and promotions you can't beat the consistent low price with high value, there is a reason macys has higher sales volume than Nordstrom or Penneys.. I have shopped at this store for years and have always been pleased with their employees and customer service. However I went to return an unused pair of shoes with the original box and receipt and the employee Kavita in the shoe department refused the return. They were just purchased a few weeks prior and in brand new condition. I only worn them once to try on in my home, still Kavita would not accept the return. When I tried to reason with her, she gave me a nasty attitude. I always loved shopping at macys but I am disappointed they hired this employee KAVITA. read more
