This was a great spot to go to do returns since the foot traffic was so low. Now they're on the verge of closing, and as the last big anchor other than the Barnes and Nobles, they have a bunch of stuff on "sale" but it really isn't that great for deals and not much of the good items. A lot of the best inventory already moved to other Macy's, the leftovers here aren't great. Watch the giant potholes in the parking lots since they aren't maintained anymore. read more

I stopped in here early Sunday morning to pick up an order I placed online. That transaction went smoothly because the store was virtually empty around 8:00AM. (They open at 7:00AM for the holiday.) The place is a mess. I understand it's the holiday, and lots of people are shopping, but they also hire tons of temp holiday employees. Where the heck are they? They certainly aren't straightening out the shelves or picking things up off the floor. **Update - we stopped in here on December 30th again - and the place was even more of a mess. See photos. It really looks like it is going out of business - whether by choice or by lack of management. The only reason they get the second star is because the employees that WERE working there were actually polite, and said good morning. That rarely happens anymore. I hate to say this, because I have been shopping at the Livingston Mall for decades, but I see the demise of the mall coming - slowly but surely - and it looks like Macy's may be the first anchor store to go. read more

Literally the worst Macy's I've ever been in. The place is always a mess and the lines are always out of control. Now that the stores only have one customer service area for purchase and returns it's even more awful. The staff also seems completely uninterested. They talk to one another, ignore guests and the cashier i just had was definitely on her phone with an earpiece in her ear talking to someone. The personification of why Macy's business has taken a nosedive. I went in to buy some Clinique face scrub. Asked 4 women at various counters for help and none of them could do so. I was literally waiting there for almost 15 minutes just to give them my money. Rule #1 of retail is that you need to take people's money as fast as possible or it costs you business. I mean, have you ever tried to get help with anything in a Macy's store? It's virtually impossible. With the exception of their Herald Square location, I see no compelling reason to buy anything there. That's why I used my gift card to buy face scrub. Nothing else appealed to me and if it had, I probably wouldn't have wanted to waste the time to find someone to sell it to me. read more

The only reason I would go here is if I absolutely needed an item. I usually go to the one in SH. This particular location is dingy, disorganized and the staff are no where to be found. I have been a customer for almost 12 years in this store and what happened with this place is so sad is like nobody care , clothes on the floor everywhere the employees are rude and pretend you don't exist I try buy clothes for my trip and end up giving up can not find anything because is just a big mess and one employee told me is a mess because ours customers are disgusting I would love to listen from Macy's what they are doing to fixed this problem. read more

Honestly, not a good Macy's. It kind of doesn't even feel like a Macy's when you are in here. Everything just has like an 80's or 90's feel to it. I'm a fan of the Macy's brand but not this one - maybe it's just because I'm used to going to some better ones. The men's department is definitely in need of an uplift and it's pretty tough to find what you are looking for here. This Macy's location is average. I've been to better and worse stores. The customer service is just ok, forget about getting any sales help on the floor. The store racks are a little disheveled in the clothing departments, but some other areas are better organized. Do yourself a favor and go to the Short Hills or Wayne locations nearby if you want better quality service and merchandise. read more

Staff was slow to help. I actually stood around for about ten or fifteen minutes before receiving help at a jewlery counter. Nobody even acknowledged me which I found to be extremely frustrating. I winded up leaving because the lady who did end up helping me wasn't sure about the sales. It was a one day day for diamond earring for $199.99 for half carat studs. It's either you got them or don't. I left, without the earrings, because I got tired of waiting for them to find out if they still had them. I was shopping here with a friend. We left without buying anything because the prices were outrageous. When we left the store the shoplifting detector's alarm went off at the door for no apparent reason. As we were leaving a big man followed us out and demanded to see our bags and falsely accused us of stealing. When we explained that we didn't know what he was talking about he grabbed my friend by the wrist and tried to drag us back into the store. We were able to fight him off and I got a few good hits in and he retreated back into the store. Do not shop here! You will have a bad experience with loss prevention. read more

This Macy's location has made a lot of improvements lately. They now have a MAC makeup counter and they've renovated a few parts of the store. The handbag section has an okay selection now. It used to look like a bunch of Michael Kors and Dooney bags thrown in the corner. It looks like they are working on getting some more items of the higher end brands. They definitely need to keep working though. The shoe department, even though they've gotten a better selection, is still lacking compared to most Macy's locations. The ladies room is really old and always smells like someone is trying to cover the fact that they've been smoking. This is an okay location to shop, but don't expect to have a lot to choose from. read more
