This location of Macy's is on a forever down slope as far as customer service and general appearance is concerned. It is next to impossible to get assistance from the customer service folks if you are just browsing and not ready to purchase yet. On many occasions I have had the sales folks come up to inquire if I am ready for checkout only when I have a bunch of stuff in my hand. The clothing and shoes sections are generally always so disorganized with stuff everywhere - makes it hard to look for a particular size :( read more

While at the store, I debated whether I should speak to management or not but felt bad. After leaving, in the car I debated whether I should walk in and complain because it still felt wrong. Now at home, after further debate, I am writing this on Yelp because you deserve to know. While at the Tysons Corner Macys location at approximately 7:00 pm, today (3/22/2018), I was lucky to receive some top notch customer service. While I do not recall their names, they both worked at the womens shoes department and both were African American women. One had a head scarf and the other was in my opinion in her 40's (apologize if incorrect). My sister had purchased a pair of shoes earlier today at the Fair Oaks Macys, which she really liked. They were a little tight but it was the last pair at Fair Oaks. The sales representative there looked up in the system and saw that Tysons had 2 pairs of the wanted size in stock. He attempted to call from Fair Oaks but no one would answer. So it was just settled that they may have 2 pairs, according to the system. Since she was busy, I took my sisters shoes to Tysons Macys to see if I could exchange them for the wanted size. Enter, the 40 year old representative (counter was next to the Finish Line counter). I explained to her that I would like to exchange them for a different size, after being purchased earlier in the day from Fair Oaks. She very kindly replied with, "WHY DO YOU PEOPLE ALWAYS DO THIS? WHY DO YOU BUY THE WRONG SHOES AND THEN COME AND EXCHANGE THEM?? DO THEY FORCE YOU TO BUY THE WRONG SIZE AT THE OTHER LOCATION?!" Honestly, for a split second I didn't even know what to say. I explained to her the situation. She tried to say she wasn't trying to be rude, but if thats not rudeness, I wonder what it. She checked in the back and told me they didn't have them. I walked away. As I'm looking around the racks for maybe the size I was looking for, I see another associate and ask her. This time, I thought that maybe the Fair Oaks employee told my sister Tysons Galleria instead of Tysons. She told me to hang on while helping another customer then eventually comes back. I ask her to check if Galleria has them and we walk to the computer. She types it in, and without saying a SINGLE WORD, prints out a long receipt, hands it to me and walks away! I was like, "what is this?!" She says, "oh thats where you look to see if another macys has it." it had about 25 macys locations on it. Example #2 of WONDERFUL CUSTOMER CARE. Look. I get it, people have bad days.. but TWO people, on the same night? We're long time customers of Macys but stuff like this makes other ways of shopping A LOT more appealing. Just out of curiosity, do you guys pay these two lovely women? Or are they just volunteering there on their free time just to see how nasty they can be to customers. I'm just confused. In the end, no luck on correct size, walked out and with no intentions on coming back to your location. There are plenty more in the area. Good luck! read more

I like this Macy's because it's a lot bigger than others. 3 levels of fun, fashion, accessories and lots of designers. The only downside, which isn't the companies fault is how messy it is. People are really lazy and messy in this place. Shoes all over the place, clothes on the floor and on the wrong shelves. The cleanest area is the Mac makeup counter and the other make/perfume counters. Their kitchen and home is located on the third floor but I feel there isn't much available. However, their bedding area is very nice and they have beautiful bedding :) read more

I'm generally not a fan of Macy's, but this store definitely has a wider selection than your typical Macy's which is a plus. They are one of the last stores to still sell Hart Schaffner Marx suits (all their other suits are average-to-low quality fused imports), though compared to the HSM suits sold at Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, the ones carried at this Macy's look pretty boring. Expect many typical Macy's features like overly-cluttered walkways, very mess shoe departments, and average customer service. Don't expect to get any questions answered because the staff get no training on the products. They are only taught to use the register. read more

By far this is the worst Macy's I've ever had the displeasure to shop at. Where do I start? Well to start, the lights are flickering and no one is addressing it. There is literally zero help as I've went out of my way to ask for assistance and was told by an associate that it wasn't his department. Then when I asked for assistance with shoes I was told to go to another register by a woman where there was no one. So why am I standing at this other register when there is no associate here to assist me and I clearly have asked several people now? Exactly. This store is a headache and a horrible experience. I will not be recommending this Macy's to any of my clients and I certainly will not be shopping here again. Worst Macy's ever. Waited 45 minutes to do a return. When I purchased the item it took them 55 minutes to figure out how to ring up my one dress. Customer service is garbage and the people that work here constantly don't know what they are doing. Not surprised that Macy's is going out of business. read more

This is from my mother: The "manager" with no name tag (blonde with green highlights) at the MAC counter was the rudest employee I have ever encountered in my life. I was looking for a lipstick and there was NO ONE to be found FOR AN HOUR, so a woman from Dior came to help out (she was nice). The MAC lady finally came to help and gave the Dior woman the dirtiest look as if she was doing something wrong by helping me during her absence. While "helping" me, she was very uninterested in selling me any products. No wonder her counter was empty. With her nasty and uninterested attitude, I was hesitant to ask to see any other shades. She kept answering any of my questions with "I don't know". How do you "not know" if you are a so called manager of that counter. What an unfortunate position for this woman. Due to her disgusting attitude, I felt pressured into leaving because I could not believe someone could be so rude for no reason. After confronting her, she replied with the sarcastic response of "I'm sorry you feel this way, enjoy the rest of your day". And if you're reading this, green haired lady, please learn how to speak to customers because you will soon be out of a job due to your lack of customer service and etiquette. read more

I'm happy they have a wide range in sizes but the customer service is terrible! When I first walked in the Levi's section a white guy saw me walking in and he left the register and walked off. 5 mins go by and I asked a girl can I check out she said sure... (mind you she wasn't the problem) the Asian guy that came over to help was the problem. He rolled his eyes when she asked him to check my items out, came over rang me up and asked was this it with a gesture. So after the exchange happened I asked can he throw away my old Macy's bag, he looked away and looked at me and held his hand out and said "Mmhmm". I liked to order items on Macys.com because it is just easier and I can find the sizes I want. When I have to return my online orders, I usually go to Tysons Gallery. Earlier this year, I decided to try and return an online order in this Macy's. There were two cashiers at the register. They were discussing on how to do the return. They asked I swipe my credit card to find the order. Based on past experience, only in store orders can be found using the credit card, but I did it anyways. When my order did not come up after swiping the credit card, I asked she scan the bar code on my online order receipt. She wanted me to try a different credit card...I eventually got my refund, but it was a frustrating experience. Other than that, this Macy's has decent selections and service. I shop here often as well. read more

Alright Macy's, you've given me no better way to start the year than by ripping a store a new one. Let me start by saying one thing: F(*& you, you suck. I came in here on NYE to buy a pair of tuxedo shoes since I've worn my tux enough now to convince me to wear more than just my old military patent leather shoes. Your associate in the shoe department (named Wat) attempted to help me - but this is where the help stopped. He not only took my order, but then allowed two other customers to distract him along the way. Instead of waiting about five minutes for him to go back and look for my shoes, I ended up waiting 15 minutes for my shoes to try them on. After making my decision, he takes me to the register to pay for my purchase while helping others. Aaaaaaaaand this is where it all really just falls apart like a flushed turd. The guys at the register let a lady come up to pay for stuff that wasn't collected in the shoe department. Normally, we just call that bad luck, right? Yeah, sure, unless it means she has 3 full large shopping bags worth of items that she'd like to pay for (where the hell did she get those bags??) After waiting in line for another 15 minutes while they try to ring up her 30+ items (albeit rather slowly since they were all women's suit items), I finally grew tired of it and noticed an open register in the shirts area. So away I went. Bad move. After getting there, a young lady tried to explain to me that she couldn't ring me up and I'd have to go back to shoes. My response, "umm...they've been working on a lady's purchase for 15 minutes there, they let someone without a shoe related item to buy stuff there, so it's a tad counter-intuitive to say that I can't go to another register, right?" She agrees but still apologizes. So I left the shoes with her and told her, "have a happy new year." Then, I went over to the customer service counter to complain about such an asinine bureaucratic policy. Instead, I'm met by Inam, resident store rude associate (I mean, it's a converted Hechts, why should I be surprised?). After walking up and the Russian lady (making the assumption based on her conversation in Russian) starts to take another customer with her, I'm greeted by Inam. Here's how the conversation went: Inam: *No eye contact* You need to go to a register in Tommy or on the other side there. Jake: Excuse me? Inam: *A bit louder* You need to go to a register in TOMMY or on the OTHER side... Jake: *Cuts him off* I heard you the first time. Where did you learn customer service that you don't even greet a customer or say please in those two sentences you just blurted at me?!?! Inam: Um..I meant that thinking you were trying to do a retail... (uh, 'do a retail'? Is that what the kids are calling it these days?) Jake: Yeah, do you see anything in my hands?? That's part of my complaint that I'm here for. Where's a manager? Russian Lady: I'm manager. I will help you after I'm done with this customer, ok? Jake: No, forget about it. You just convinced me NEVER to come back. Seriously, I thought I was an impatient shopper at first. But after thinking about this situation over and over again, I can see where you can only tolerate this if: 1) You have a Macy's card and are trying to scrape those few pennies on the dollar off the over-inflated price tags or 2) Have never shopped at Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, or Neimann's. Hell, I'd prefer Neimann's snooty service over this crap. Seriously Macy's (Tysons Corner Center), you've earned a place on my "Dude...You Suck!!!" list. I hope you fail and they bring in something useful...like a few restaurants or lingerie shops. Your associates have the sales ability of a cast of deaf-mutes. read more

(For the Macy's in Tyson's I) Oy. The facility is just like any other macy's. However, the womens' restrooms are not the best condition. There were feces hanging out in the stalls' wastebins, no soap, dysfunctional hand dryers. Of the 5 stalls, only 3 were open for use. Other than that, it was the general dept store rush of the holiday season. Lots of people. I just wish that the restrooms were a bit more well kept. read more

I completely disagree with Stef. Sorry, but the service is terrible. Service makes or breaks the series of massive chains which make up pretty much all consumer experience in northern Virginia, and this Macy's, like pretty much everywhere else, completely falls apart. The assistants have no idea what looks good, they are high pressure but unhelpful and can not make a recommendation, nor do they have any product knowledge. You're much better off at Nordstrom's. read more

Not contact information on macys website, no way of complaining if your order is delayed or forgotten to be delivered. They have very easy and multiple options to take your money but no way of giving feedback on the service they promised when they take your money. Marshals is better at this. I don't recommend buying online from Macy's. read more

This is a review specifically of one outstanding sales associate, namely Clyde Ensslin from Fine Jewelry. I went to this Macy's on behalf of my 75-year-old dad, who had received a birthday gift of a jacket that was one size too small. It was still in the box, with tags on, and I wanted to do a simple exchange for the same jacket one size larger. The sales associate I tried first was absolutely unable/unwilling to help me: apparently the jacket had been purchased on sale, and was now no longer on sale at the same price - so she told me I would have to pay the difference ($85). I balked, and said that was ridiculous! She was unmoving, and I started to get frustrated and upset with her. Clyde overheard, and stepped in to help. With a few deft keystrokes, he was able to do the right thing - gave me a receipt and a promise that my dad would receive the new larger jacket in the mail. Indeed he did, and correctly with no charge. Clyde, unlike the other sales associate, had the brains to take the initiative and forestall what could have turned out to be a massive problem, turning it around into a positive experience. I give it three stars because of clothing selection but depending on which employee I get, I can give it one star or five stars. I've been shopping here for quite awhile and it's a hit or miss on who you get to help you. I'll admit, before when I tried to return something, my visit would take me minimum 30 minutes during lunch time on a weekday. Now, they have customer service, which is not bad unless it's the holidays. I wish they would fix their signs as to what line is online pick up orders and what line is for returns. I must warn you though, the shoe department can get crazy since a lot of people are there to shop and sometimes you only find two or three workers. I wish they're method of getting shoes from the stock room was different. I like the method Fair Oaks Macy's uses. The shoes are outside for people to choose and if you can't find your shoes, you know you're OOL (out of luck) :-( read more

Macy's is usually my to go store. This particular one was very messy and not presentable. We shopped in the men's department for hubby's suit and shoes. The men's shoe department was very dirty and the shopping experience wasn't nice. The service was friendly. Staff was helpful, but just ashamed the presentation was lacking in that department. read more

He was neither busy nor engaged with another customer. I suspect that he works on commission and since my business did not pad his paycheck, he dismissed me and instructed me to find another Macy's counter. This is par for the course at this Macy's. Overall, this Macy's has a great selection. I visited this location last weekend. I was on the search for a dress for a party which I found one. I was a little overwhelmed with the dress selection. I do think that Macy's organization isn't the best in this store and the dress section could have been tidier. There was one employee who was really helpful and when I found the dress I waned the one in my size had a missing button. She immediately looked to see if she could order one on online and have it sent to my house. Easy enough! Then I decided to press my luck and go shopping for jeans. I HATE jean shopping. Ever since I have had babies I miss wearing elastic waist pants cause they were so comfortable and jean shopping is almost as bad a swim suit shopping. So I find two great pairs of jeans and a super cute top for spring. Some to find out that the entire Macy's system was down and I couldn't use my Macy's card which meant I couldn't use a coupon either. Their phone system was down so he couldn't call anyone. The salesman was a little overwhelmed with the system being down and me pressing the issue as why I couldn't use my card or use another card and be able to use a coupon with my non-Macy's card. He tried to pawn me off on a long line of like 7 people to stand in line at another register....it ultimately ended with me in tears as I was tired and frustrated. No customer should feel that way...but I SO totally wanted the jeans....What a mess and a waste of time. Needless to say I had to use a non- Macy's card and didn't get to use a coupon....horrible customer service when the systems were down. Although I found an amazing dress for the dinner party, the jean shopping experience wasn't so great. Not sure how soon I will go back to Macy's...I may need to hit some other department stores first. read more

Don't come here if you're looking to get customer service while you shop. It's no where in this store. Many of the employees were among themselves talking to each other, handling merchandise, price checking or whatever. No eye contact, no glance over, no one asked if we needed help, no one look happy to be there, no one was available at the register counter or near it. P.S. these employees also need a lesson on how to use the restroom. Apparently they (2 ladies at that) left their turds and pee for everyone else to look at. Gross! read more

Spent an hour being studiously ignored in the Men's Suit Dept. Found my items, fitted myself, and took my $300 purchase to another dept to pay to insure that there was no commission. 3 stars for the representative that rang me up in the other dept when I expressed my displeasure, contrary to policy, and for the convenience of parking. I knew what I wanted, am a straightforward shopper & would have been a quick easy sale. Much better attention in Bloomingdales - but out of the items I wanted. read more

This might be the best Macy's I've been to! I'm able to get in and out quickly if I am im a rush, or browse around forever (theu have 3 floors). I have never had a problem with their customer service. Employees have opened up another register for me, waited while I look for online coupons, and even offered fashion advice if I ask. I tend to find good stuff here on clearance as well, jist be sure to browse around and dig through all tje racks in the different sections! read more

Background: I am not a fan of shopping - time, navigating other people (noise, interruptions, loud never ending phone calls), finding items that compliment and fit my body without breaking the bank, etc. I headed to this store last evening after work and was checking out at the register around 7:15 pm. Experience: Was left to find what I wanted to try on. I did move fairly quickly, so probably was not as easily approachable as others as I focused on getting in and getting out. Had the typical loud woman in the dressing room stall next to me on a never ending call partially in English about coordinating a move. Not to worry. I had choices and I was focused on finding items that fit me. The Best: Checking out. The woman was INCREDIBLE working very hard to stretch my pennies. I did not have my Macy's card with me, so there was a bit of extra work on her end to which she did not complain. She was also interrupted at least twice by co-workers and three times by customers while working on checking me out. I was quite worried that she'd end up scanning an item more than once or forget to apply the special(s)/coupon(s) properly not to mention interrupting is quite non-manner appropriate. She was a gem, handled their questions while continuing to check me out without double logging any of the items and even retried a couple of specials/coupons to ensure my dollar was stretched as far as it could go. Would Be Nice: I keep looking for light, feminine long sleeve sweaters and blouses. No such luck. The theme the past 6 - 9 months has been sleeveless blouses. Perhaps I'm a bit out of synch with the current fashion and/or have not hit the right season yet. read more

Macy's, try harder. The most important thing to me is my time and you wasted it. Your shoe department is understaffed and disorganized. Shoes are on the wrong tables and all over the place. I saw some on the floor I would have bought, but I had already waited 20 minutes for the attendant I had flagged down to find me a pair of boots. He brought me one of 3 and disappeared to get commission from another customer (understandable, she needed help too.) I finally gave up and bought my dresses. About that. There are so many discount schemes your head will spin. Coupons, plenti, some charity thing. But more and more items are excluded. My dresses were the right brands, but marked "specials" instead of sale items so I could not use any discounts. And about discounts. Just hope the person in front of you is not opening a Macy's card or plenti account or you will wait forever. If it is you, you will be embarrassed. The salespeople don't know which registers are actually open so you don't know if you should leave the line. In housewares, the associate had to flag down a colleague walking by to take the second register. Where is the organization? read more

I went to the fine jewelry department to exchange a necklace I purchased online and received terrible customer service. The employee I asked to assist with the exchange repeatedly asked how much the item cost which was irrelevant and then proceeded to throw the necklace I purchased into a box after telling me the item I wanted to exchange for wasn't in stock. This was very unprofessional and made me want to return the item and purchase jewelry elsewhere. read more

My daughter knows how much I enjoy shopping at Tysons. I hate fighting the traffic to get to the mega-mall. But, had to make the trip to buy towels. Visited Bed and Bath department and Cindy did a great job helping us. She guided us through several types of towels (more complicated than I thought). When we decided to buy a bathrobe, she went into the back and brought out a fresh robe in it's packaging. I still hate the traffic, but Macy's treated me well and I won't be so grumpy the next time the wife drags me to this retail Hell. read more

My daughters and I spent a good 20, maybe 30 minutes looking at every handbag in the store and not once did an associate ask us if we needed assistance. The only reason for the second star is because the store was clean and organized (not something one can say about every Macy's). But in terms of service and customer care, forget it!
