This MACYS womens clothing department is not that big. They don't have a accessory section any more in the ladies department. The cosmetics section is ok, some makeup counters staff work very slowly. What can you say about a mega corporation who survived by consuming all it's competition? The quality of clothing is business average. The menswear selection is wanting in variety of products. Womenswear isn't fashion forward as the buyers seem to bring in tons of prints and fewer details on those styles. This store seem to have a high turn over in staff as there are no longer professional acting clerks to aid you on the floor just people at the registers. Okay, I'd really like to give more stars to this Macy's, but it's just not possible. 1. the service at the shoe department is terrible! I asked for a pair of shoes, and the lady brings back the wrong pair (and the wrong size) so I tell her its not what I asked for. She went back and did the same thing and when I told her its the same wrong one, she just said "I'm done! theres some over there go find your size!" as if it's MY fault she brought the wrong shoe both times. and she is still always there, complaining about how she's tired as she walks about the floor, which is really unprofessional (we're all tired, honey, but we keep it to ourselves until we're out of the customers' sight). 2. It is horrendously disorganized, and impossible to find a size! 3. the selection is really kind of poor compared to other branches. read more

Shelly the customer service manager made an exemption and allowed us to return the watch so I could get one that fits. she was glad to assist me and was very nice about the whole process despite the store closing already. I was given a dress shirt as a gift and it doesn't fit me. The shirt still has the tags and price on it. As I go in to get it exchanged I was told the tag is too old and cannot do anything. The tag has the price on it and all I wanted is an exchange for something else. No money. But it's like the associate didn't want to work or anything. Now I will either donate it or toss it. Sales people are only friendly when you have a shoe in your hand! I rarely get greeted when I walk in the department, even when I make eye contact with the sales staff. I tend to feel rushed when I am deciding on the shoes I want from the women's department. of all the modern day inventions, i hate telephone system the most because it created some annoying monsters. for one, the ever persistent telemarketers...even a nice person like me becomes the rudest person, responding to those minimun wage workers with anger and frustration, leading to hanging up the phone without my tender good-byes. second, the ever complicated automated prompt system...even a patient person like me ends up shouting at the person hiding behind this evil (also slutty) voice after hearing press this, press that, "i am sorry...yaddy yaddy yadda..." sh*t. and third, you have to talk to the person on the other line whether you love her or hate him. i guess it can be a good thing since it stops some serious hate crimes that can happen in a face to face situation. and sometimes it is quite therapeutic when i just hang up the phone, making the person on the other end more frustrated!!! it all started with one phone call from my mother. a while back, my mother called me, her voice full of excitement, to inform that she bought the most beautiful natucci leather sofa from macy's. a few weeks later, she called me again to tell me how unhappy she was with the sofa because it was completely different from what she saw on the floor..."different patches of leather...fake natucci" (what an easy life she has, huh? happiness depending on a piece of furniture!!). i am sure she is not a leather connoisseur, but she has keen eyes for top quality stuff so i believed her. she asked me to call the macy's customer service line and inquire about exchange. so i called (my #1 attempt). after going through a countless # punching, i hear this "the furniture department is closed for the day...". alright, i called again but this time pressed a different extension, and again i get this "we are closed, but please leave a message...". wtf? why not just say that in the beginning before i had to hear that evil, slutty voice? my 2nd and 3rd attempts all failed miserably in the same pattern, and their general line wouldn't deal with furniture issues. since then on, my mom called me everyday to ask about the status of the couch, and one day, magically, i got through to a live person working at the furniture department where the sofa was purchased. i told him about the issues, and initially he tried to pawn me off to the customer service line. him: ma'am, all returns, exchanges and customer service issues need to be dealt directly with them...we don't do this here. me: i tried, and no one is picking up the phone. him: well, ma'am, it is the store policy to... me: no f*cking way (this was directed to him for addressing me as "ma'am")!!! i guess he got scared and promised to talk to his manager and get back to me. what a friggin' liar. i still haven't heard from him. it's not like i asked him out or anything...a creepy jerk!!! finally i got to the "decision maker" of the department and he promised me to take the couch away and deliver a new authentic natucci one. that was a month ago, and when i went to my mother's house this saturday, that ugly patchy sofa was still breathing in her family room. i parked my big fat ass there the entire saturday afternoon and called macy's customer service line. i again dealt with their automated phone system and again got the "we are closed..." bullsh*t from it. anyone from macy's, please solve this problem. i can't not deal with your lying sales people, your retarded phone system, and most of all my dear mother's 9 am on the dot everyday phone call anymore (although she says she's just calling to saying good-morning)!!! read more

Had 2 very horrible experiences at the MAC counter in the Montclair Macy's. First I had my w little girls with me and I am pregnant but need to purchase a few things from the mac counter. The MUA female was busy tell her guy coworker about a date she had didn't notice me standing waiting to be helped by the time I was able to get her attention and ask about some lip stick she just motioned me to grab it myself from over there... I was really taken back. The male MUA noticed I still needed help and ended up helping me spend $180.00. I thanked him and decide I wouldn't go back there, however a coworker brought me a gift card for Macy's mac... and I need some foundation a few days ago. And a female MUA by the name of Jacqie I had to approach to help me, said okay let me just tell this other customers you only need one thing and if that's okay she wait. I was like for sure no problem... then she returned saying the foundation I needed was not in stock and she didn't know when they would get it or have it and that it could take weeks and there's a list she could put me on to be called when it did come in. So I said ok to the list and got her name and the managers name. I went home and ordered to that particular Macy's store, which to my surprise since she said it was out of stock was ready for pick up the next day.! I was frustrated and spoke to the new manager Yesenia I think was her name she told me she filled my order from the online request and didn't know why jacqie would tell me they didn't have it because they had an abundant amount of it. I felt so discriminated against not sure why these 2 female employees had such horrible customer care and why they would make me feel as if what I was in need of wasn't a priority to them... like I went to a donut shop to buy makeup... or I was bothering them! I came into this Macy's on a Sunday afternoon wanting to buy a Citizen watch. I knew which one I wanted and found it right away. However there was no one in the department. After having to ask to have someone help us and having a young (very nice) girl run off to find us someone that worked in the "fine jewelry" department we decided on another, more expensive watch. We waited 30 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us and asked if they can help. There was one sales woman that was helping a well dressed man that was just browsing and was completely ignoring us. When a different sales woman finally came up and helped us and we told her which watch we wanted and left with it less than ten minutes later, the woman that had ignored us looked a little upset. Too bad that she felt the need to help the well dressed guy that obviously was just browsing and refused to acknowledge us because we were in Sunday Casual clothing.... She lost out on a nice commission. Overall terrible customer service but two stars for the overall good price and the nice lady that did help us.... Even if it took a half an hour. read more

I recently purchased a 3 pack of Alfani underwear. After washing them one time one of the 3 had some stitching coming undone along the elastic band. I took the one pair back to exchange them for another pair and they told me I had to bring all 3 back because that is how they come in a 3 pack. So I told the sales guy Juan that you want me to go home take off the ones I am wearing and get the other pair out of the hamper then bring all 3 back so he could exchange them and he said yes. He told me that was there policy. I told him he was crazy. So I said let me talk to your Manager and he called Yselli, she came over to the department and basically told me the same thing. Macy's needs to give there store managers some authority to do the right thing. So I will go home put all 3 pairs of dirty underwear in a bag and get my money back. If stock holders wonder why they are not seeing profits that's because they have terrible customer service and should re-evaluate the system. I've been shopping at this Macys for years. I received a Macy's gift card for my birthday and decided to splurge on a pair of Michael Kors shoes. I walked in and noticed the shoe department had been rearranged and found the shoe I wanted right away. I approached a salesman and as I was telling him my size his cell phone went off and he pulled it out of his pocket and responded to the text he just received. I was a bit taken back that he would do this while helping a customer. As I'm waiting for Omar to get my shoes I look around and notice he is now at the register ringing up another customer. I wait several minutes then another salesman asked if I needed help. I said, he was suppose to go get my shoe but jumped on the register. He says, well you have to wait for him. I said, I don't have time can someone else go get them? A young girl working grabbed the shoe in disgust, as if I was bothering them, and walked to the back. I thanked her. She said nothing. She came out and said they didn't have my size with an attitude. I will NEVER shop at Montclair again. I will drive to West Covina which is out of the way but worth the better customer service. read more

SELLS USED ITEMS AS NEW - VERY UNPROFESSIONAL - I purchased Apple Watch series 3 from the store, and I asked for a brand new watch. I was informed by sales representative that the watch was brand new prior to my purchase. After I made payment, I was handed the watch in a plastic bag. As soon as I received the bag, I took the box out and I noticed that watch box was not sealed. So, I opened the box in front of sales representative and I found out that the watch was open box (probably a return from someone else). Usually a new watch is wrapped with a plastic inside the box, but this watch was NOT. Watch was already set up (unlike a new watch), watch band had marks on them. So, basically they SOLD me USED WATCH by saying it WAS A BRAND NEW WATCH. When I talk to manager, she told me that "this is how we receive the watch, if you don't want it I can give you refund." Instead of admitting that they lied before selling the watch, she was trying to convince me that was a new watch. At first, Manager told me that they never take any return on watch, so the watch could not be used at all. And I told her that few minutes ago, I was informed by sales representative that the watch has 30 days return policy, then manager changed her statement and told me yes, we do take returns if it is in salable condition. I asked manager if she can give me in written that what she is claiming that watch comes open like how they sold me, and she kept on making excuses and did not give me anything in writing. They wrote down my information and I was informed that I will be contacted by someone to resolve the issue, and no one contacted me so far. I ended up returning the watch, it was waste of my time and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, especially from manager. read more

We live in Riverside and drove out to this Macy's for a few reasons. There was no one on the floor helping in the men's suit department at Tyler Riverside Macy's, and when I finally found someone, they tried telling us that there was no store in 100 miles that carried the suit we were looking for. Low and behold, 5 minutes of my internet searching and I find Montclair has the suit. I call the store to see if they have the suit and speak to Juan. From the moment we spoke, he was so friendly and helpful I had no problem going to Montclair. We got to the store, asked someone for Juan and the gentleman who helped us was just as friendly and helpful as Juan. As soon as Juan got back from his break, the other gentleman informed him we were here and immediately came over to assist. He was so thorough and attentive and found us what we needed. He actually took time to listen to us and offer his assistance. He was also able to assist about three other parties while helping us. Macy's needs more people like Juan, and Macy's in Riverside needs to learn from this one. read more

Fine I went up to this Caucasian old lady myself. Asked her if she had the item I described she said "no". So I asked her if she had anything within this price range, "no". Okay ma'am why don't you introduce me some of your damn products or help me think of something. Finally my bf said this other Asian lady with glasses seemed very nice. I walked over and she greeted me right away. She was so helpful and yay I ended up picking something! I forgot to ask for her name but I'm glad there was finally someone who enjoyed their job. I received a beautiful necklace from my daughter. She bought it at Macy's. It was expensive for costume jewelry $59.00 plus tax. I wore it often, but then this past Sunday the necklace started hurting my neck while I was driving home from shopping. Got home took it off and notice that my neck had green on it. Went to Macy's to return it today and had so much trouble with the sales person. I had no receipt, but there in the store was the same necklace for the same price that my daughter had paid. The sales person would not give me the same price in return, (it was not on sale), but rather gave me $48.31; she asked me for my driver license and took down all the info, asked for my phone number and had me sign my name. All this took a while then she made some phone calls; when I asked what was going on, she said that she needed the managers approval. So I waited, than she said that I would get credit for the purchase by mail. When I asked for the manager, she said Oh! she's at a meeting. I told her "I don't care if she's at a meeting, that does not concern me", so I waited for the manager to come, which was no help. Bottom line- bad customer service, and the employees do not want to help you, they just make you wait and wait and wait. read more

I rarely shop Macy's, preferring instead the superior customer service of Nordstrom. Recently, although I live 10 minutes away from my local Macy's I ordered some Estee Lauder mascara online, since it was bonus time. I paid for the items ($50.00!!) and waited, and waited, and waited for them to be shipped. The online tracking link in the email they sent me told me nothing. I tried calling customer support. NOTE: Getting a live person on the phone is next to impossible but I finally did. btw, customer support is located in the Philippines!! I explained that I wanted to cancel my order and was told that I could not. I asked for the call to be escalated and she hung up on me. I then called my local Macy's where it took forever for the operator to answer. The Estee Lauder counter person put me on hold while she did....what, exactly? I could hear her in the background. If this is how Macy's treats their customers, I predict a rather swift demise for their store. read more
