Came to this little shop with my sister and nieces today. The shop is located in the cutest area. It's small but has a lot of things to look at. The items are vintage and unique. Prices are reasonable. The clothing pieces were mostly for petite/small women. My niece is a size 0-3 (xs-s) so the clothing is perfect for her. She has bought a few dickies there in great condition for $18. You are able to use the dressing room to try on clothes. If the person at the shop would interact with customers and was more friendly and offered help if needed it would be such a perfect shop to stop by! read more

It's hard not to notice Vintage Odyssey because of the cool masks hanging on top of the entrance. The decor of this nice store is very well arranged, gets your attention, lures you in. Hard to miss it! Fun store to browse with cool, funky merchandise, nicely displayed. Lots of cool home decor items, clothes, stationary, a bit of everything vintage and not only. The owner must be completely oblivious with the customer service his female employee is providing. My daughter was in the store today, had an interest in purchasing a mood ring and a silk dress but was treated like a thief. My daughter is presentable, polite and exudes a calm ora. The woman in the store persistently followed my daughter throughout her entire visit, made her feel unwelcome. My daughter was asked to leave her very tiny purse outside of the changing room while trying on a dress. There was another customer in another changing room who had her purse with her and was not asked to leave her purse while trying on items. This woman is driving business away. I encourage the owner to provide this female employee with customer service training or simply pay attention to how certain customers are treated. My daughter did not warrant this type of treatment. I am new to the area and decided to shop local in Claremont on shop small Saturday and was disappointed with their lack of acknowledgement of their customers. A simple "welcome" or " let us know if you have any questions" goes a long way. Even after purchasing a $10 item I didn't even get a thank you. Absolutely phenomenal collection of quirky, eclectic stuff as well as being pretty versatile in options. The furniture was my favorite! So many colorful shabby chic dressers, benches and display cases. I wanted everything. Overall, the place was definitely on the more expensive side (in comparison to "thrift store" prices), but for the most part the shop was pretty reasonably priced when regarding the quality offered. The only way to leave a review was to leave at least one star but they don't even deserve that. My daughter and her friends frequent the store regularly and today when it came time to pay my daughter was short $2. Her friend offered to cover the difference but the older blond woman would not accept my daughters partial payment on her ATM card telling her that she was pathetic because she didn't have the total amount in her account. I am beyond angry that this reject washed up hipster would talk to anyone like that, let alone my child. Our days of shopping there are over. From the other reviews I see that plenty of others have been subject to her less than stellar customer service skills. read more

It's really interesting that many people have had bad experiences with the older female employee. I wasn't acknowledged until I was by the till, and I smiled at her while I was looking at the jewelry. She didn't return the smile and instead kept a watchful eye on me the rest of the time I was browsing. I was going to make some purchases, but I did feel hurt by the way that I was treated, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. The jewelry is nicely priced, but the clothing selection is limited, and I don't really plan on coming back. She made my little sister spend her ENTIRE gift card in one shop visit because apparently it is hard to deduct the amount spent and make a new gift certificate - or heck, even write it on a little slip of paper! I have no idea why this woman is so bitter, and it sucks because the store has nice stuff. She assumes every young looking person is trying to steal when really they are just browsing the shop. My friend took me here and she says they constantly keep new inventory and I believe it since their clothing section is relatively small but they seem to be hand picked because a lot of their stuff is so beautiful! The lady working there is very nice. Prices are pretty reasonable but they aren't prices like thrift store. I got a cropped sweater for $12 which I love so much. I have always loved this store for the ease of finding kitchsy, cute vintage + upcycled things. I have for years recommended this store to people I know and have even wrote about it on my blog. I'm giving two stars because the store sells great things, but I hesitate to continue giving this store my business when every time I go I'm treated like a thief. And it's not just myself, but every presentably young woman or man. Some of the ladies who work here assume that everyone is stealing before people even walk through the door. The entire time you're browsing, you're being watched like a hawk. If that is not uncomfortable enough, I have witnessed one yell at a young girl exiting the fitting room just because she thought she was going in there with a purse? I've shopped here so many times and I am often happy to spend my money at this store, but I don't want to support a business that doesn't know how to appreciate its customers. You can't run a successful business if you can't make customers feel welcome and if Vintage Odyssey ever goes out of business, the terrible customer service would be the reason why. I hope that something changes so the store doesn't keep losing loyal, PAYING customers. read more
