Shopping in a Department Store sometimes seems quant in these days of "high tech", but often enough "high touch" is preferred. The nearest Macy's to us is the one on Reno, which is a bit better selection-wise than our old nearby Concord (California) store. We were here today looking for deals and vacation clothing and we found them. Gayle has a good bargain nose, including discount on discount options. I've been purchasing Clinique take the day off for years, but the last order I received and free sample the product was cloudy in the bottle. I returned it to the store and was told "oh that's just the solution" and she swapped it for another couple bottles, but they're all cloudy and separated. I have traveled with the smaller size in my suitcase and never had them go cloudy The cloudy separated bottles are only with this last ordered batch I've received. Now, like I said, they're cloudy and they're separated, so there is something definitely wrong with this product that the Clinique person at Macy's fails to recognize. I am not happy. read more

WOW‼. I was for 30 minutes on the main floor looking for any, and I mean any associate of sales to be available to help me with my purchase! Completely disappointed after 30 minutes of looking for one sales associate anywhere I was out of luck then I found a cashier near one of the exit doors she had no idea about anything she had no idea even how to call a manager to help me find what I needed it was a complete waste she said let's walk around and look for a salesperson, I said I have done that for the last 30 minutes I'm not willing to waste any more time looking for someone can you call the manager please? She replied, i, couldn't call a manager even there is no customer service left at Macy's it is a disaster and I'm sure their numbers reflect that as they have closed hundreds of stores already it's a sad situation that is not necessary especially when they pay the absolute lowest minimum wage available in the United States which is $12 an hour! Macy's Reno used to be fantastic. But a visit last week was weird and if they have all adopted this new "thing" I can understand why all Macy's are doing poorly. The type of employees has changed drastically from classy, well spoken and helpful to loud and obnoxious with 1/2 of them speaking in a language that the shoppers could not understand and this included the voice over the PA system. The other 1/2 looked unwashed with dirty, wrinkled clothing and matted unkempt hair. I would not feel safe shopping there again. Macy's was an American icon. It's very sad. read more

They have a manager Named Bryn that created a lot of chaos. there re so many nice pople working at Macys why they have that personality for a manager is beyond us. We sent a report to corporate. I started shopping again after an absence of about a year and a half. I do not find The Reno Macy's to be very pleasant or friendly or efficient. I purchased 3 times but only on my third trip was I offered the hangers, while only two staff members greeted me at all on any of the three trips. I shopped on Sunday but the clerk who rang me up told me she was not feeling well, gee, sorry about that but she neglected to remove the security tag so back again on Monday just to have it removed... Made me feel annoyed as nobody else was around or being rung up. Waste of time, my time that is I still like the selection of items with the mark downs but not the atmosphere as it seems that the staff is indifferent or even rude. At least, for the last three trips. How hard would it have been to simply focus on the task at hand and remove the sensor? I was thinking to remove it at home but decided I might hurt myself. Maybe I will try one more time before deciding to just order on line read more

Wow what a crazy experience I had here today at Macy's' I was trying to return a pair of brand new boots that my husband had bought me for Christmas. I know he would never notice since I have dozens of pairs. I mistakenly went into to the Men's store and was wandering around like a fool, and this sweet lady told me the route to get to the women's shoe department. I got over there and no one was around; I heard a gal with a long black wig on ask me if I needed help. This nice but when she came over her body odor literally knocked the wind out of my sails, this was the worst B.O. I have ever smelled in my life including NYC subways you name it. She shouldn't be at work dealing with customers in this condition. Part of me is tempted to call the store manager and report this...but I digress. Next the woman who actually worked in the area came over and was rude and very unprofessional and unpleasant saying I couldn't possibly return them without some sticker. She said I needed to ask my husband for the receipt... That would NEVER happen, I would prefer to toss them out the window then ever hurt his feelings! I asked where customer service was and I headed over there. These two ladies Linda & Thalia were absolute dolls to me. I said that I would be happy with store credit and they asked me if I had a Macy's card and I said I don't use credit cards when cash always works fine. They were both so sweet that I accepted getting a Macys card where my refund would be a credit. Sweet. I then went over to the Chanel counter to use my credit and was helped by the beautiful and kind Lydia. She was dressed so very smart with mint colored matching heels and scarf. She is perfect for Chanel. Holly the longtime girl at the Chanel counter retired last year and moved away... Lydia did not have the product I was looking for so I was getting ready to leave when she insisted she give me some samples, wow it's crazy the different experiences you can have all at the same store. This place will be shut down soon thanks to employees with either racial issues or attitudes. This one time not too long ago an older lady that works in the men's department by the men's suits , she racial profiled a group of men weren't light skin, she made the comment, oh they are headed to the polo section keep an eye on them. It was sad to hear that ! Also, last week we were checking out some man bags (briefcases and plus) and this guy , creeps up on us and without greeting or anything, says browsing or want something specific... (not with a polite tone, more like racial profiling too. I rather order online now than give them service. read more

I came into the store on Saturday and was assisted by Sam and Austin. The store was incredibly busy and both of them went above and beyond to help me with a return. I ended up getting two new suit pants which I love. Bad customer service. I was there yesterday. I was trying to swipe my card and a guy (brown, shaggy hair) working the front pick up area order said in condescending and impatient tone, "It's at the top." I said, "Oh you guys should have a sign they are all different." Then he snapped back, "There are three flashing lights at the top." I said, "You still should have a sign." You don't condescendingly talk to customers and you don't argue. The flashing light is hard to see when your alashing your card over it. I tried to call and complain it was nearly impossible to get to a person. I left an online complaint but whonknows if I'll hear back. Not a pleasant experience. read more

Enjoyable shopping experience today. It's been numerous years since I was last here at this location and mall, for I live out of town. I must say though, that this store and mall were very nice. They are well maintained, clean, and comfortable atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive. It was a completely welcoming experience. We felt perfectly safe and secure throughout, including the parking lots. My wife found the perfect winter dress coat for her mother. Size can be a challenge, for she is short! Nevertheless, there was a huge selection, with numerous styles and sizes. And we scored a great value with their current sale, 60% off, for the coat selected. I love Macy's! You would think for such a large company, that in store exchange would be acceptable for a return that is barely past the 30 day return policy. Especially since the item was never worn or taken out of the bag and I had a receipt for proof of purchase. The item is still being sold in the store and I was merely asking for store credit towards another purchase. The customer service was downright horrible, and the "manager" that was called over didn't even bother to look at what was being returned. Bought a sectional couch from the furniture dept and paid for the extended warranty and was told "any wear or damage would be covered...". A year later the wood structure in the back of the couch is showing thru the fabric and submitted a claim but was swiftly denied and they said it was "unusual wear". This review is specifically for the Clinique and Bobbi Brown cosmetics counter. I've had two older ladies from those counters who were rude. The Bobbi Brown lady started heavily criticizing my skin when all I asked for was help with shade matching and continued to push the Macy's CC on me several times despite me saying no continuously. She then proceeded to force me to into getting a foundation shipped (they didn't have it in stock) despite me saying I didn't want it shipped as I would just find it somewhere else and then seemed to throw shade at me when my card was "invalid" due to a different address being on the card. I ended up purchasing and returning because the shade didn't match and I would not be purchasing against due to poor customer service. For the Clinique counter, this happened today which prompted this review as I noticed I continue to have poor experiences with older ladies working the cosmetics counters.. I assume the older lady had just gotten back from her break and I had been waiting there for awhile because the girl at the counter was already helping another customer which is fine, no problem with that and the older lady stood at a distance asking me if I needed help to which I said yes that would be great. She stood there, didn't say anything and stared at me after I said that so then I said I'm just waiting for the girl to finish because I didn't know why she didn't respond so then she walked away. The girl already helping another customer asked her if she could help me to which she said very obnoxiously loud that she had asked me and I told her no, I was waiting for the girl and then she came over to me with an attitude while asking me if I needed anything else. Obviously not. I don't really understand how people can be so rude and work in customer service. It personally makes me not want to purchase anything from those specific counters. Not to say there isn't good customer service at these cosmetic counters. I've had a pretty good experience at the Dior counter with one specific lady. She's a young blonde, I didn't get her name unfortunately but everytime I go back, I try to look for her. She was super nice and helpful especially towards someone like me who was new to makeup and needed help shade matching and some recommendations for a good routine. I've now purchased several things from Dior and will continue supporting that counter for as long as I shop at Macys. This sweet young lady is one of the only reasons I'm even giving this place a 3 star. Maybe Macys will consider hiring people who care about customer service and not those who hate their jobs. read more

I love Kate Spade earrings so every time they go on sale I usually order some. At the end of November I ordered three pairs and only decided to keep one pair. Trying to return them was a major hassle. One pair they said was last act and couldn't be returned but they are still on sale on there website and not listed as last act. I spoke to several people and although they were very pleasant, were unable to help me with this. I am closing my account with them and will never shop there again. So disappointed. read more

I am so disappointed every time I walk in the front door. Macys is known to be fashion forward, but the Macys Meadowood is not. When you come in you don't see upscale clothes like in other Macys, instead you see Charter Club and one other brand that look like favorites from some grandma in Iowa, or rejects from Kohls or the old Melvyn's. We're gonna start here, and this review is primarily due to Bonnie's (in the men's department) f**** up, condescending attitude towards someone who is walking around wearing $25k worth of jewelry, Johnston & Murphy shoes, Versace shirt, polo Ralph Lauren dress jeans, and a pair of sunglasses that costs more than this miserable, insulting drab will make this pay period. NOT TO MENTION THIS IS HAPPENING AS WE'RE MAKING A $250 PURCHASE. They ALWAYS try to peddle their department store credit card, bit apparently when I'M asking questions about it, it's better to treat me like a homeless bum who's looking to smash and grab than to give me a professional answer. She started rambling on about these "rewards" to my counterpart, and brought up the department store credit card Me, having a FICO score of at LEAST 720, and using less than 30% of my revolving credit of well over $60K, and invites from Black Card and Venture X, I thought it would be financially intuitive and lucrative to my credit score, to apply and get another line of credit. HAHAHAHA!!! NOT FROM THIS WOMAN!!! i asked her a very, very basic question. 'What's the highest credit limit you've seen or someone can get with your Macy's card?' She 'sighs' looks at me, and in a VERY SNAPPY, INSULTING CONDESCENDING tone, she says "That's PERSONAL! YEAH, WE DON'T KNOW WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS CREDIT LIMIT IS. THAT'S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS AND WE DON'T SEE THAT ON OUR END!" as I believe I even got an eyeroll from the face that looks like she was smack dab, face down smelling a pile of dog sh**. Seriously? I then said "Oh, Ok. I was just wondering how high the credit limit is". She then said "I told you, it's PERSONAL information!". Ok, well F--- you too!! So, my question is how you going to try and sell something or sell somebody on something when you either do not have the information or refuse to do your job and give us the information required to make an educated decision? I've went through this s*** with Dillard's, and I encourage you to see how that turned out. Cuz this might be the same, they have since apologized and it looks like that they may be reacquiring another faithful customer because as long as this woman works here, I REFUSE to spend another dime in this place, and that goes for everyone in my family. ***EPIPHANY ALERT*** HOLY BALLS!!!! I'm not a big fan of being around people or kids running and screaming all over the place (This Macy's is located inside the mall). Being able to purchase items on the App/online is a bonus for me. I am a person that knows my size, so I do not need to waste a bunch of time trying on clothes. I purchase off the App/online and once I get my email stating my order is ready for pickup, I go to the store, to the Order pickup desk, the employee scans my email, I show ID and sign, the employee goes and grabs my product(s), and I leave. She was very patient to all my inquiry and has a very nice personality dealing with customer like me. She made sure that she attendede on of the walkins. The salesperson at the Macy's Meadowood Mall was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and friendly. The customer service & delivery departments were another story. Everyone "read from the same script " with no apparent concern for the customer. Two weeks in a row, after receiving a text & an email stating delivery time, I got a phone call apologizing but my couch would not be delivered on time. I had to pick another date.
