I haven't shopped at a department store in uears so was pleasantly surprised to visit Macy's at La Cantera and see all the sales and great deals on designer items during their Black Friday 2022 sales. Found a $600 Cole Haan leather jacket for $180 plus an additional 20% off with the macys card. Like alot of places around the holidays, areas can be a bit messy as customers toss things around but overall well organized. The macys app helps to scan and get prices. I'm a fan again and will be visiting more often. read more

What a sad, disgusting store this Macy's has turned into. I could maybe understand if this was a Macy's in a sketchy mall...but this is La Cantera! I know that everyone is having supply issues right now, but that's no reason to keep a messy store. Clothes were literally strewn all over the place. It looked like a TJ Maxx at the end of a busy day. The worst part though were the fitting rooms. The men's fitting room was filthy. It was dirty, grimy, and had carpeting that looked like it hadn't been vacuumed since 2019. According to my wife, however, the women's fitting room reeked of urine. So, someone is going in there on a regular basis and is either urinating or doing meth. My wife said that she had to hold her breath the entire time she was trying on clothes. I feel sorry for the few employees who work here and have to put up with this. It's time to either clean this place up, or shut it down. read more

Macy's provides a mixed shopping experience. You can get some good quality items, you can get some good sale items, and sometimes, you get both in one item! What you may have trouble getting, though, is good service. Some of the staff are helpful, while others are pretty much AWOL. When I visited, a pair of registers was out of service. Rather than going to find a working register to check out customers, two women were just standing there, telling customers they'd have to go elsewhere to check out. Oh ... okay. read more

John in the men's department next to Tommy Hilfiger and Armani (I think I can't remember) was amazing. So accommodating and friendly. Not to mention helpful. Give this man a raise!!! Sometimes salespeople can come off snotty at La Cantera but he was so down to earth and easy to talk to. We will be returning just because of him honestly. We normally don't shop in department stores because they can be overwhelming but he was so kind and easy-going that it made it not even a tiny bit stressful. Shoe department was understaffed... only one girl working. She helped me initially but I had to walk over & ask for help. Then when I went to ask for a different size but she made me wait so she could check out two other families only to find out they didn't even have my size. Oh my goodness! I have been a loyal Macy's customer for over 30 years. Unfortunately the experience I had recently has changed my opinion of this store . I received Macy's gift cards for Mother's Day. We drove 1 1/2 hours to La Cantera in San Antonio to shop on Sunday. When I couldn't find the woman's department that I have always shopped in at other Macy's, I approached an employee. I asked her where the woman's department was and she replied " we don't carry your size ... you have to shop online". Obviously, she doesn't know my size and not only was I embarrassed and wanting to to cry ... to make things worse she said that in front of the other customers. I tried to call their customer service line but the person said I would have to have an order number??? When I called the store directly I was transferred to the woman's department and then disconnected. Macy's has always held a happy place for my family and me. We go to Dallas just to Christmas shop there, we send Macy's gift cards to our children and grandchildren, and I have always found a Woman's department with a large assortment of sizes and styles in other Macy's. La Cantera Macy's really needs some personnel training! read more

Never had this bad of an experience with Macys How are they not going to honor exchange of sizes? I ordered a men's Polo Ralph Lauren tracksuit (top and bottom) in size SMALL & X-SMALL unfortunately they did not fit and I got such a good price on them that I figured I'd go exchange them my size M As soon as I get there immediately 3-4 girls start telling how I cant exchange the EXACT same item because of a group number not matching on the tags so systematically they weren't the same item even thought it was LITERALLY the same I kid you not. I end up returning the item and going to Ingram mall that same day and I explain my issue to the workers there and tell me why within 5 minutes they allow me to buy my size MEDIUM at the discounted price?!?! I bought a beautiful off white dress for my Wedding. I had to even ask the salesperson to put it into a dress bag so it would not get dirty. The day of my Wedding I got to the Chapel and put it on and noticed they forgot to take off the security ink tag. The alarm did not go off on the way out the door. I started panicking and called Macy's for 45 minutes. Could not get ahold of anyone in any department. I had to ask a guest if I could wear their dress. I ended up wearing a black and gray over the knees dress. It was humiliating. I had to tell everyone what happened. Macy's took back the dress and refunded me and only gave me a $100 certificate to Macy's. They took memories that cannot be replaced. I'm still so upset and so sad. read more

Stopped into Macy's to casually look for a new shirt or two, but ended up at the cosmetics counter with one of the reps. I have a hard time choosing the right makeup and all that that involves...the right shades, the right brands, the yada yada yada! I'm a fool when it comes down to it! Luckily, the woman who helped me (sorry to say I have forgotten her name) was very knowledgable on the products. She recommended that I sit at one of the vanities so that she can match colors to my skin tone and apply certain products that I could use at home. I did not feel like I was pushed to buy, judged for my ignorance, or made to feel subconscious about my appearance. She just wanted to help! More so, she was having fun doing her job, which really made me feel more at ease and less like a clown. Ultimately, I walked out of Macy's without any clothes but with a grab bag full of quality cosmetics and the know-how to apply them! **Be advised that these products were not cheap. Which is why I decided to give 4 stars instead of 5. I know the products are of quality value, but I don't think they should mark up the prices quite like they do. read more

Ordered a top online and it had a horrible smell. It smelled like it sat in urine for days. Didn't even want to try and wash it so I took it back with in about a week maybe 2. The sales person was quite rude and mentioned after 30 days we can't take it back. Our Macys policies changed. I'm like I'm within the 30 days. When I told her we had to use another credit card she told me basically to bad to sad. You will have to discuss with your bank. And left it at that. I didn't argue with her because her and another sales person were very rude to the customer in front of me. I really liked shopping online and at the store but after the unfriendly attitude I think I will go to Dillard. Also they took longer then a month to get my Macys CC to me. I have been into this location many times & shop at Macy's a lot in general. The last two times I have had the pleasure of being assisted by a lovely worker named Summer in the makeup section. Both times she has been extremely informational about the makeup brands and was so helpful & patient with making sure I got what I needed. Maybe more than what I needed. she made sure each item I got worked for my skin tone, and even sampled some on me!! I've never had someone offer to do that there. Great customer service! read more

Went in to the store to return clothing items that had been worn one time and only purchased 4 days prior. The gentleman John at the register tried to tell me they couldn't be returned due to have been used once, even though I've had no issues with returns and exchanges in the past. It was clear he was just wanting to have a power trip, he called down the manager and was throwing a fit when I asked him to do so, and the manager said the same thing. No stains/holes in the clothing or anything of that sort. Terrible customer service and won't be returning again. read more

A smiling friendly clerk from Estee Lauder asks how she can help (what? Help? Really?). She pops across to the Chanel counter and within one minute (maybe less) she's made the exchange, given me 3 samples (!!) and I'm one very happy customer! Thank you, Macy's!! Well, I love Macy's, you can find great deals and bargains, but they really need to work on their customer service, I do understand that sometimes they are tired, they get frustrated with previous customers and so on, but remember that for he customer is the first experience of the day and that can make a huge difference. read more

To preface this review, I usually shop online and today was a reminder of why. I visited three Macy's locations today. The two common denominators were terrible customer service and general lack of cleanliness/maintenance (more specifically in the fitting rooms). This location was no different. (1) Customer Service is non-existent. Most of the customer service desks had no staffing and the staff that was working don't know inventory well. I came in looking for a pair of swim shorts and shirts I saw online and the employee basically pointed to the right and said they're behind that wall. Considering there were like 6 walls in the direction he was pointing he might as well told me "they're somewhere on this floor. Good luck." (2) Confusing Layout: Macy's (and maybe some of the different brands it carries) spent a lot of money to set up little "shop-in-shops" for each brand. Logically, you'd think Calvin Klein stuff is going to be over here in the Calvin Klein area and Alfani over in the Alfani area. Not the case. Alfa under-shirts were over in the shoes area in addition to the area branded for Alfani and there were other instances of this with other brands as well (i.e. swim trunks were all on crammed onto racks like sardines regardless of brand). (3) Poor WiFi. This location gets no cell phone reception. So when I was trying to show an employee what I came in for, I had to use the WiFi. The WiFi is insultingly slow. So slow, that you wonder if they offer it as some sort of sarcasm. I turned my LTE off and my "4G" speeds were faster than their WiFi. If you're going to offer crap for WiFi, just do us a favor and don't offer it or hire and train better employees that know where product is in the store. (4) No receipt. I requested to have my receipt emailed to me and it's the next day and I still have not received a receipt. If Macy's has issues emailing receipts, once again, don't offer it as an option. (5) Fitting rooms. Fitting rooms need a cleaning schedule. It's obvious that someone is doing a very poor job of cleaning it to put a checkmark on some list. It needs a deep scrubbing every now and again. It also needs some re-touching - repainting on doors and walls or replace some of the doors that are cracking. Macy's is trying to position itself up there with the Niemens, Nordstroms and Saks and it's looking like the JC Penney, Ross and TJ Maxx. Actually, I apologize to TJ Maxx and JC Penney they look nicer. And JC Penney executed the brand-shop-layout idea much better. read more

We bought a mattress from Macy's at La Cantera and were assured our old one would be carried upstairs to a different bedroom by the deliverymen. We were also told the deliverymen would assemble a new headboard kit for the new bed frame. That was not true. Apparently this happens all the time. Salespeople will say anything to make a sale. Do not believe them. As long time Macys customers, we were very disappointed and will be shopping elsewhere from now on. read more

I've been shopping at this Macy's for about five years now and I've always experienced very helpful customer service. In particular, Lily, in the women's shoe department deserves a shout out. Lily is quick to find the product you need, recommend similar shoe brands and she is very knowledgeable about getting the best deal. She can advise me on what coupons to use and when and she always honors an extra 10% off for floor sample products (thank you size 5!). The store is always clean and I haven't had any trouble finding someone to help me find what I need. I'm definitely a fan of this Macy's! read more

Good experience with good prices. The dresses were all organized which is usually hard to find. We were able to enjoy the shopping experience and find what we needed and had a great selection. It was hard to find someone when we needed assistance but when we found her she was quick and helpful. I appreciated all the sales they had. The store was clean and the fitting rooms were easily accessible. Our fitting room lock did not work but we just moved to the second one and was ok. Genevieve in the shoe department is awesome! Very sweet and definitely on the ball! I like Macy. Usually the staff is very friendly. Some areas of the store can seem a bit cluttered at times, especially around the holidays, but I guess that should be expected. The shoe area always seems to be the first to go. I scored my high end cologne for $4 cheaper / bottle than the neighboring Dill store! If you are planning to do a curbside pick up at Macy's for the same day of placing the order, forget about it. apparently Macy's curbside orders go to their ordering website and it's just placing your order and having it shipped to the store than you can go get your curbside pick up in a week, but they don't tell you that when you're actually placing the order. I got an email that told me to 'sit tight' and they're working on it. Am I supposed to sit tight for seven days? It's sad that we live in such a high tech society with great convenience and pick up services that other retail establishments offer that Macy's can't get on board. Possibly they should consider a new CEO to run the company and get up with today's Covid curbside same day pick up. Sad to say that Macy's is probably on the chopping block and will soon be entering our history of retail stores that are no more. I gave it a one star in honor of Julie who answered a nonstop ringing phone in the women's purse department, who actually did try to help me and of course I'm sure is under paid. Found "almost" what I wanted so went to pay for it....when we mentioned we couldn't find any help, all she could say was "sorry, however would you like to open a Macy's account to save 20%." If you are a PHAT girl....don't bother shopping here. There's major discrimination when it comes to the plus size section. The store has most of the 1st floor for skinny's. The plus size section is tucked away on the 2nd floor near kitchenware. If your a PHAT girl like me, your better off going to Northstar Mall Macy's. They have a better selection there. read more

Unfortunately I use plus size but consider myself a fashionable dresser. The plus size clothes are for age 70+! I walk past the "normal" sizes and there's so much cute stuff and lots of bling. Plus size has one style top in 10 different colors. Don't need same style shirt in 10 colors. Need 10 diff styles instead. The buyer who selects the INC clothing needs to wear those ugly styles. And Jeans....they're either extra wide boot cut or skinny.. I can't wear either!! Just select a normal jean! Hold back on selecting so many tops with short or no sleeves. Rating strictly for service received from Mona. We were desperate at 8:50pm to get a shirt and tie. She not only stayed open for us but also helped pick something out. Then after we left we saw another shirt on our way out. We just wanted to put it on hold but she reopened her register for us to buy it! Then another woman in cosmetics opened the door and gate for us to get out the right exit so we wouldn't have to walk all around the mall to our car.
