How can I offer such a negative review and still call it a one star? I have never in my life had such a rude customer service experience. Anywhere. I grew up with a Mother whose 50 year experience was in one retail department store.' The owner had a poster in the back that listed the 10 Commandments of Customer Service. At the bottom of the poster was this "The Customer is Always Right." So yes, I'm old-school. A young woman named Angela brought out my online order. She said it was already paid for. I explained I needed to pay for it with a gift card I'd had 1-2 years. She kept refusing my request, as if I did not understand. She was reluctant to do a refund so I could pay for the merchandise with a gift card. I explained that's exactly what she needed to do. Her body language fully expressed her disdain for this process. She maintained a smugness throughout the entire exchange, asked me to open the package. That's NOT a standard operating procedure for customer service. She proceeded with the refund, stonefaced. No conversation, and proceeded to re-charge the merchandise. Never a 'thank you for explaining'. Never an 'I'm sorry for misunderstanding this.' Her response to my frustration with having to coax the entire process was 'What's your attitude? I'm trying to help you!' Is this the new JCP customer service? She called for her manager who was equally stonefaced. The manager Alex, like Angela, was just as reluctant to complete the exchange. She kept telling me it was already paid for. After requesting that she complete the exchange ... at least five times ... AND honor the sale price, she finally acquiesced. During this exchange, I told her that Angela was a very beautiful young girl, but her beauty did not compensate for her vile passive aggressive stance. I reiterated this several times, no 'I apologize for your experience,' nothing. When I repeated the complaint, she said she'd acknowledged it, but would not have me talking ill of her employee. Ill of her employee? A complaint does not produce a rosy glowing compliment. I gave her the good with the bad. She too was dismissive. When the altercation/transaction was finished, my response was 'I can tell she gets her customer service skills from you.' So beware this duo who doesn't understand not every transaction achieves electronic processing digital perfection. There is a human being paying for the merchandise that IS allowed a preference for how to complete the transaction. Mr Penney would be so sad. He would have NEVER protected such an impetulant excuse for a retail clerk nor a store manager. Need I say more? However the store that was built on his values no longer honors that code. read more

Great selection, overall clean and organized store. Just couldn't find any support staff in the departments. Arrived at checkout with only one person at checkout. Left 20 minutes later with 13 people in line behind me waiting. Person at returns couldn't help? Cashier asked for support twice but noone helped. read more

I have grown a love for JC Penny. I have found everything I need for every occasion, from swim wear to casual wear! Great prices and deals weekly but I will say the only down fall is the lack of employees. Only one person at the register with huge lines and no back up. I went to cosmetics to check out because that's what the employee told me I could do last time so I went and she said she's not able to that front has to ask for backup but clearly they needed some back up! Anyways I still loved this store and how many options they have. Extra plus to this store was that the restrooms were clean! read more

For whatever reason, the computer said it couldn't refund my money to my credit card despite my online return being very clear it should be when returning it to a store. I'm stuck with a large gift card to a place I now hate. Maybe I can sell it and be done with JC Penny's. I one loved this business. I tried to make the clothes work, but they had strings and uneven fits. I gave two stars(instead of one)because parking is usually easy here. However, the check out lines take too long. Last time I purchased from the store, I told them I had a coupon and was told they'd apply it at the end. They didn't , and I didn't notice until I was home. I'll probably return the remainder of my purchase (not for a gift card!) out of anger now. read more

I ordered a bedspread on May 9th, they didn't generate a label until the 11th, UPS pick up on the 12th in Atlanta. Moved to Doraville GA on the 12 th and there it sits. No updates, contact customer service absolutely no help. But Penny's did charge my bank account the cash on the 12th. I'm the meantime no bedspread no service. Penny"s wonders why they are failing. I LOVE the manager Katrina, she's always so pleasant and helpful. However, a cashier by the name of Virginia isn't very helpful and downright rude. We had a question because what was being down at the checkout hadn't happened to us before and she asked us, "have you been a cashier here before" it was incredibly rude and I don't appreciate my Mom being talked to like that. I want to give more stars because of Katrina but I want something to be done with the cashier. read more

We have been coming here for over 5 years to their picture studio. We have always come away with great pictures at a great price compared to other portrait studios/photographers. We have two young children and the photographer has always been patient. As with everything you do with children, get there early and schedule yourself at a good time of day to ensure great pictures. She hurried up wash my hair then showed her a picture of what I wanted . Let me just say I know it wasn't going to look exactly like the picture but she didn't even try . **JCPENNY SALON** Would not recommended this salon to anyone!!! LISTEN TO THE WRITTEN REVIEWS. I read one where they cancel just before your appointment time and thought "oh no way it will happen to me" BUT SURE ENOUGH I'm on my way into the store parking lot and I get a call 15 minutes BEFORE MY SCHEDULED APPT saying the stylist was completely booked or overbooked and that she wouldn't be able to see me today. So I asked what she wanted me to do because I had already scheduled it when they said they had available stylists. She said the other stylist that was in was also booked so..... I was not able to get seen for MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. This is really bad for business considering there are high-end salons across the street in the same shopping center that offer the same services for around the same prices!!!! I have to admit I hadn't been into a JCPenney in a very, very long time. However, Grandma loves this store and swears by the bras. It was a shocker to see how much Penney's has changed. They have completely renovated the store--even though it's not even that old--and the space is modern and fresh. I didn't realize a full sized Sephora is in the middle of the store, much easier than going to the one in the mall. The brand MNG by Mango reminded me of smaller version of Zara within the store. The home goods section was well stocked with brands that rival what you see at Williams Sonoma, but with a friendlier price tag. The checkout needs more employees, but that seems to be a trend everywhere. I'm definitely giving Penney's another look. read more

This is the JCPenney I always shop at. It's nicely organized, employees are nice, and the prices can't really be beat. I've gone to this JCPenney Portrait studio for years since my son was born and have never gone anywhere else. They are always efficient and are the best, in my opinion! I've also gone to the salon before and had a positive experience. They've just gotten over a seriously re-model/renovation and have made the store look extremely modern. JCPenney is a place I frequent, and this is the store that I typically visit. It's always clean; the people are usually friendly; and there is usually a good variety of merchandise to select from. Their photo store (internal) is fantastic. The people we have worked with honored our requests, were punctual, and have great follow up. Top notch! Their one downfall is that during big sales they sometimes do not have enough cashiers. read more

The garments in this store make the case for nudism. NEVER...did I think I would go in a store and not see a single item that appealed to me. GET NEW BUYERS! The clothes look like a 7th grade sewing class got a bunch of Simplicity Patterns out of the easy sew section and constructed the most boring, lifeless clothes I've ever seen. You have a pretty good location, but your missing your market ... I actually used to shop at this store. If it wasn't for Sephora (which is on a down hill run) I wouldn't step in the door. I love this salon and it's all because of Mina! She is a great stylist. Every time I leave the salon I love my hair whether I just had it cut or colored or sometimes both. She listens to what style your going for and hits it right on the money. She's gentle when it comes to washing my hair before we start, brushing it and using heat tools (not that I'm tender headed by any means). She always styles my hair great and has the best personality! I only go to the JCP salon to see Mina! read more

I recently visited the salon and had an unpleasant experience with Mina. She even recommended at the end of the service I go home and wash all the products they put in my hair out. I had to get the cut redone. The entire experience was awful. Mina did not allot enough time for my service. My first visit she looked at my hair, said she did not have the color I wanted and asked if I wanted to come back. I have no issue waiting for the proper color. I agreed and came back a week later. Even after seeing the thickness of my hair and our discussion of previous services that took quite a bit of time, she only allotted two hours for an entire overhaul of color and style. Because of this she was rushed and continuously made me feel like an inconvenience by saying "'my poor customer had been waiting for x number of minutes" and "I could do this but I know you don't want to be here much longer". I didn't care how long it took. She also had other stylists helping her shampoo my hair and dry it. Not a problem except she kept blaming the other lady who had helped her for the difficult time she was having with my hair. She cut my hair the way I had asked, however we cut more off of the length than I expected and I didn't like it without layers. I asked her for layers and she said no and texturized my ends instead. I love that they have a large selection of boys toddler clothes. It is hard to find coll and funky styles for boys but I alwasy seem to find something here...and at half the cost!! Customer service is awesome!!! Most retail places have teens or associates who do not care less about customer service - but not here!! They are the best at the RIM!!!!! read more
