My daughter left with one canvas she painted with instruction through BDA studio. She also received a goodie bag with a few things from blue door included. Overall a nice place, great alternative bday party option.

This makes her an exceptional art instructor and you can see it in the work of her students! My daughter just started taking lessons from Ms. Venditto and I can already see a HUGE improvement in her techniques. There's a showcase at the end of the winter sessions (8 weeks total, 2 hours a week), but was able to take a sneak peak. I got the chance to introduce myself to the teacher today and talk to her a bit. She's warm, welcoming, and very easy to talk to. I also love the high level of professionalism of her business--very important to me. Online registration and payment are available online and confirmation is sent via email, which makes enrollment very convenient. FYI, she's currently a high school teacher in a different town and has to commute. Gotta admire her dedication! Luckily, we live close by. Students who get the chance to study under her are fortunate. The WiFi quality and A.C. both work really well- which is super important when you're trying to get a bunch of work done! I think the design is really intentional and beautifully restored and I noticed a ton of original pieces of machinery and decor reused from the original factory. The gal Sara(h?) that manages the property has been so amazing with answering my questions and even letting me in when I forgot my key card! A new bar, Far West, just opened next to the coworking space- I plan on stopping in all the time!! Thanks for existing, Rooms & Works!!

This has got to be one of the most beautiful rehab projects I have seen of an old factory building…read more What was once an old manufacturing building is now a shared office space/incubator kitchen/speakeasy bar/apartment space. There are so many surprises within this one building. A bunch of apartments above, the shared office space and incubator kitchen on the main level. A bocci ball court, cornhole, grill and picnic tables in the courtyard. There is also another building out back that is not currently being utilized but is another amazing (small) space for something amazing once they figure out its intended purpose. My favorite part is the amount of items they salvaged during the rehab. From machinery to metal drawers, they incorporated as much as they could into the overall aesthetic of the place. Kudos to a great job and preserving such a hidden gem.

Together with Kafe Lila, Machines With Magnets is forcing me to reconsider the city of Pawtucket,…read morewhich I had previously thought of as "the place where Slater Mill and the DMV are." Currently I think of Pawtucket as "the place where Slater Mill and the DMV and Kafe Lila and Machines With Magnets are," but if I spend enough time at KL and MWM, my view will undoubtedly become more nuanced. Machines With Magnets is a recording studio, art gallery, and performance space that has fast become my favorite music venue and possibly one of my favorite places in Rhode Island. The inside is beautiful, with two large rooms decked out in cool white paint and beautiful hardwood flooring (one floor is stenciled with an absolutely stunning pattern). Art of varied quality adorns the walls. I have now had the pleasure of attending two shows here--an electronic music performance and Quintron + Miss Pussycat--and I enjoyed them both. Watching bands perform with art as a backdrop is a pleasure. The sound is good and the venue is run fairly efficiently. At the latter show, they quickly cycled through four bands by alternating the rooms in which each band performed. Very smart. The crowds are fun and interesting. Drinks, Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and even pizza are sold for reasonable prices. During my first visit, a friend turned to me and said, "I wish I lived here." "I wish I could DJ here," I replied. Until either of these things happens, I'll be stopping in periodically for more music and art. You should, too.
