Welcoming art/performance space, good bar/strong drinks, inexpensive shows, lots of parking. It's an easy calculation, find a show and go.

I wish they had a parking garage built close to it, so people can enjoy the venue and focus on the event, instead of having to deal with parking. One of the major works of William R. Walker & Son, this building was built in 1894-5. Built of red brick with granite and limestone trim, it has a distinctive main block, with crenellated towers at the corners, and is prominently sited near Pawtucket's central business district. From 2005 to 2010, the armory housed the Jacqueline M. Walsh School for the Performing and Visual Arts. It is currently home to the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center. Every holiday season, they have their Holiday Crafts show that draws hundreds. The armory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

I was here for the first time during the RI Brew Fest. The large interior allowed for many vendors and partons alike. The one drawback is the facilities - bathrooms are an issue here, so with large crowds, that presents quite a problem. Parking, while available, isn't nearly as ample as the space itself, so that's another reason why I've docked it one star. However, I truly love this place and can't wait to host my own event here someday.

The…read moreset up of the restaurant was a little confusing to navigate but I'm sure on the weekends they get packed and all the spaces get filled up pretty quickly. We ordered a Backyard Platter to share as well as an order of the Pit Mac And Cheese. The Backyard Platter was insane. $67.50. 1/2 lb smoked brisket. 3/4 lb smoked pork. 1 lb hot honey chicken. 4 smoked chourico. 4 pieces of cornbread. and pickles, slaw, and bbq sauces. The meats were delicious. and those bbq sauces! So good! I definitely wish they gave more cornbread, cause you would think with all the food in this order, they would be full pieces of cornbread, but in actuality they were like half pieces of cornbread. so we felt a little shorted there unfortunately considering the cornbread was really delicious. i just wish there was more. Definitely a shared meal, and definitely on the pricier side. The pit mac and cheese was a miss for us. $16.50. we didn't add any toppings to it since the backyard platter was more than enough and sadly, for the price, we were let down. It felt overpriced for what was presented considering the dish itself was shallow and there wasn't anything that stood out. I would've easily paid maybe $9 for that but not $16.50. it felt more like what their $6 side dish would be in truth. Overall, i'm glad we finally stopped by as it's around the corner for us and we had been meaning to try their food. I would definitely come back and try something else next time!

Awesome awesome awesome!…read more We used this space for my sister's bridal shower (around 55 people in attendance) and couldn't be more pleased! First off, the space is very accessible right on Mendon Road. It's a newer space owned by the same people that own Angelo's next door. There is good natural lighting, ample parking outdoors, TVs, and a full bar inside the event area. Also, since it's a newer build, the technology is updated with a sound system and enough outlets to charge different devices. The space itself is in the the same building as Angelo's, and separated by a wall from the Angelo's dining room, but the food is catered by the same kitchen. When walking in, there's a small area to the right with bathrooms and coat closet/storage. To the left is where the main event space is located, along with the bar inside. We were planning the shower out of state, so a lot of the communication with the owners was through email and phone. Working with the owners was super easy and they were very prompt in answering questions leading up to the day. The shower was on a Saturday morning, and the owners were kind enough to give us the space the night before to set up and bring in items so there was that much less to do in the morning. I felt they were so nice with accommodating all our requests from food, to utilization of space, to even last minute things that we didn't know we needed. Day of, they had enough staff on hand to set up tables and any other requests that we needed. They provided all the linen and utensils, as well as servers to bring the food out (since we did a buffet) and then later clean up. They do not allow outside caterers for food, but do allow outside dessert. For the amount of people we had, there was seating for everyone, plus tables for gifts/food/dessert and still some open area to get some games and activities going. We didn't need a bartender since it was a dry event, but as part of the rental, we were given unlimited soft drinks and water (woot!) Overall - really happy with the service and the space accommodations. I think it can serve a number of different types of events and it's a great location from an access standpoint. Time to plan the next party!

Decorations are at a minimum. No leeway for any kind of customization there. No guest can hang outside the venue. But the management is horrible. When you call them they pick up the phone with no greeting or anything. They pick up and say "AHLO?" And sometimes I begin to question if it's franchescas on waterplace that I'm calling. I've scheduled to see the venue after putting my deposit down. Once I got there nobody was there. I called in the rain and nobody picked up. Nobody got back to me in 3 days. Save everyone time and their deposit money. It's $2500. If you pay upfront (which you have to) they reserve the right to keep it regardless of cancellations due to covid or anything else. Was a head ache the whole time. Place is pretty, but unprofessional to work with.

CAUTION:…read moreDocument everything discussed with Franchesca and proceed with caution when communicating. For some strange reason she always "means something else." It seems that Franchesca's preference is to talk over the phone rather than providing written responses to emails. During several conversations with myself, mom to be, and mother of the mom to be (all separate conversations), Franchesca gave favorable responses then changed her response about capacity, parking, ADA access, clean up, rentals, etc. (I believe she just needed a booking so she said yes to all of my questions). Franchesca never updated the contract, did not send a fully executed contract, was misleading about parking and ADA access, didn't know how to work her own speaker, told us that the shelves in the fridge couldn't be removed to put the cake inside, and the list goes on. Franchesca also told me that she would not be present during the event but would be in reach if I needed her because she doesn't have an office on-site, which was fine. During set up, her husband introduced himself and said that if I needed anything, his number was on the wall. He didn't leave, in fact, he babysat our event, walking in and out as he pleased. Several people asked who he was because he was very much out of place. At one point I came out of the kitchen and he had a plate of food. Another time, I came out of the kitchen and he was eating a slice of cake. He certainly wasn't there to help because we did absolutely everything (set up, trash, dismantle, speaker, etc.). After we paid in full, Franchesca became difficult to talk to. She kept cutting us (mom to be, myself) off during conversations before we could complete a thought. She also told us that she would clean everything, then decided that she didn't clean and we had to remove our own trash unless we paid her $150 additional for trash removal because she didn't have access to a dumpster. The time allotted wasn't worth the price, especially when her husband lingered like we were in his way (very tacky). Wasn't a comfortable feeling as we felt we were being watched throughout our rental. The shower was gorgeous and all the guests were pleased. My overall experience for the price I paid is about a 4 (1-10 scale).
