Conveniently located on Thayer, MFN has more than just noodles! The cashier and server was very kind offering us recommendations of pho over ramen. The pho was decent with good value. I would've liked the brisket to have less fat and more tender meat. The tai (rare steak) was delicious. The teriyaki bowl was surprisingly tasty and paired well with the soft boiled egg and veggies included. Tip! Check out their FB, as they sometimes offer 20% off the bill which makes a meal here a delicious steal!

I recently came across a Mad For Noodles ad on Facebook. Mad For Noodles on Thayer Street had a soft opening on Thursday, 1/16/25. It is on the upper level of Berk's Shoes & Clothing Store. The restaurant is brightly lit and there are plenty of tables. On Tuesday, 1/21/25, our group of 3 walked in and were welcomed by the staff. The staff asked if we were dining in or taking out. We said dining in. They handed us the menu and informed us to use the QR code on the table to order. The menu is limited to udon, ramen, pho, rice bowls, and two sides. I ordered the Pho Vietnamese beef noodle soup with steak, brisket, tripe, scallions, onions, and cilantro and the other 2 guests in my group ordered the Shoyu tonkotsu silky tonkotsu broth and a hint of bonito dash with char sir, a marinated soft boiled egg, and scallions. After ordering online, the staff brought the food to our table in about 10-15 minutes. The dishes were in a big bowl and had a good ratio of noodles and the other components. The broth had good flavor and it warmed us right up. Though the menu has a few can sodas and bottle drinks options, I do wish they had water dispensers for customers to get water even just tap water. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Welcome Mad For Noodles to all the restaurants on Thayer Street! I do want to come back and try their udon. The picture of it looks delicious. Prices are reasonable and worth giving Mad For Noodles a try.

Rating: 4.0 Went to try this place for dinner. New noodle place on Thayer street that also offer some side dishes. Inside is spacious but was pretty empty. Had to order to go because was short on time but service was quick. The menu was limited but we ordered tonkatsu ramen, cold udon, and spicy wonton. Spicy wonton was pretty good it reminded me of shumai. Meaty and savory with bit of spice. The ramen was okay. Broth was pretty basic but spicy miso made it a bit better. Noodle was chewy and meat was pretty good. The cold udon was pretty good. Sweet and savory thin meat, scallions , tempura pieces, and spicy miso. There were few tougher pieces of meat with tendons. Overall the place was decent. I personally liked their cold udon and the spicy wonton. Downside is that the place has some misspelling on menu or misleading information. I'm quite certain their tonkatsu ramen is supposed to be tonkotsu ramen as the ramen did not include tonkatsu (pork cutlet). Cold udon did not include actual udon it was thin noodle. Udon are typically much thicker noodles. Despite these issues I would still come back to try the other stuff on the menu.

    Pho noodles - YUM!

We were in Providence for an event & hubby wanted to check out Mad for Noodles - brand new to Thayer Street & he had a 15% coupon. It was a gross, rainy & cold night so a warm bowl of noodles sounded perfect! Hubby opted for the Pho: beef noodle soup with steak, brisket, tripe, scallions, onions, cilantro (minus the tripe) with a side plate of bean sprouts, jalapenos & lime wedges (sadly, no Thai basil). The broth was savory, there was a good amount of meat, noodles were perfectly cooked. Since we were coming from another event, I wasn't hungry enough to commit to a big bowl of deliciousness. I selected the Spicy Wontons: dumplings filled with a blend of shrimp & pork in a spicy chili oil (which I requested on the side). I like spicy but sometimes the chili oil can be too much for me. In this case, I didn't love the taste of the chili oil so we ended up dunking them in the spicy pho broth. YUM! We want to try the Tonkatsu Ramen & the staff highly recommended the Spicy Niku Cold Udon. There are four rice bowls with different proteins that look good as well. Hubby commented that he wished for an icy cold beer to go with his delicious pho (no liquor license but we will ask if we can BYOB in the future)! NOM NOM NOM #YUM

I discovered this place through social media and decided to try the char siu pork rice bowl. The portion size was surprisingly generous, much more than I expected. The pork was flavorful, and overall, it was a good experience.

This place has been on our, to visit, list and I was excited for noodles! Place was clean and orderly. I could tell it was still being set up because the kiosks were set yet, and drinks were limited. The menu has 3 entree items, a couple of sides and 4 different options of rice bowls. I ordered the cold spicy udon and a side of spicy wonton. The noodles were warm, and not cold, tasted freshly made, and were delicious! After a good mix, every mouthful was delicious with a kick from the sauce and the egg. Wish I added another egg because it calmed the spiciness! The spicy wontons were delicious. I could eat more than 6 pieces. Upon arrival, the location was empty, and still new. We were the only customers, but our orders were made in 10-15 minutes, which wasn't a bad wait. Staff were friendly! I could tell the menu was limited, and the kiosk wasn't set up yet. Makes me wonder of the future menu items that could pop up soon! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal a great deal!

Food was amazing had their ramen and chicken teriyaki. Big portions and amazing flavor. Fast and friendly service and the booths are good for groups of people. Would love to come back and try more stuff off the menu.

My friend originally wanted the Green Curry Ramen, but it was out of stock, so they tried the Spicy Sesame Ramen instead. It was decent, though not particularly memorable. We also shared the cabbage salad, which was crisp and tangy--a definite highlight. If you're looking for ramen that's very traditional or bold in flavor, this might not fully hit the mark, but there are some tasty options to try. Service: Our waitress was friendly and polite, though we noticed she didn't check in as often as we might have hoped. We did have to go to the bar at one point to request the bill, but overall, she was pleasant. Ambiance: The restaurant is cozy and intimate. There's a sign and curtain near the entrance that says "wait to be seated," which was a little confusing at first, but a regular customer kindly guided us around it. Inside, the seating is a mix of a long bar and smaller two-tops along the walls, so it works best for smaller groups rather than large parties.

We were sadly in a rush and had to be out by a certain time to catch a show, and our server understood the assignment and got us out on the tight schedule we needed. I'm just sad I had to slurp down my soup so quickly as it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I ordered the Snow Mountain Ramen - the creamy tofu broth is unlike anything I've had and was so so unique and delicious. I thought about it for at least a week straight after eating it and am still dying to go back to get more. I also got the Iced Rose Matcha drink - $10 felt too pricy for this but I wanted a fun drink and a little caffeine kick - and again the flavors were unique and tasty. Both my friend and I happened to see someone we knew here - it's definitely a popular spot! It was packed on a Saturday night but it was still pretty quick for us to get a table for 2. Being a downtown city restaurant, the tables feel a bit cramped and I was a little too close to the table next to me for comfort - claustrophobics beware (honestly the soup is worth it though!!) Parking is pretty easy in the lot, although Holy crap they need to fix the potholes / harsh drop-off where it meets the street, and it still was not fully plowed many weeks after the big snowstorm (it's a shared lot so not a Y Noodle specific issue, but just saying). The only thing that was unpleasant were the bathrooms - I get it was a busy weekend night, but they reeked of a litter box the second you stepped in, the floor was dirty and very wet with unknown substances, and the Dyson hand dryer is at such a weird, too high level on the wall that it sprayed water in my face. Everything else was a dream, can't wait to go back! Hopefully the bathrooms were just a fluke.

Not pictured was the tonkatsu meal and my pork belly buns (appetizer for meal). I drank the beer+soju pairing which was good. I never had soju before today. It tasted like apple liquor. I wish that our server had communicated that food comes out as it is ready. My meal came out 10 minutes before everyone else's which is awkward. Although this isn't fine dining, I find a sporadic placement of food to be strange because I sat with my food in front of me waiting for everyone else's. Service is not necessarily friendly, but they are attentive.

With that in mind, there's nothing else I could imagine other than a hot bowl of ramen. Located about 1.7 miles or a 7min drive away, I was excited. Upon pulling up to the front of the building, you can drive slightly further down SE and park in the small lot with several spots. I actually don't remember anything about the interior to comment much. I was laser focused on getting food in my tummy. We ordered; Tan Tan Men ; a bowl of ramen with spicy pork miso broth. this absolutely hit the spot. it was deliciously salty and full of umami, and the toppings were just right, and I inhaled it in minutes Fried Calamari ; another excellent dish. the calamari was nice and crispy and the meat was tender. couldn't have been done any better. the mango chili puree sauce was also very good and something I haven't had before Tako Yaki ; I'm not sure if I need to say anything about this. it's about as yummy and expected of a properly-done tako yaki as you would expect Karaage ; this one was actually pretty upsetting with how bad it was. the chicken seemed like it was very overcooked - the skin was hard and crunchy instead of crispy, the meat was not juicy, and honestly the portions of these chicken bites were pitiful. I even sent a snap to a friend and she felt bad for me. the flavor was also immensely salty. it came with spicy mayo (which was actually spicy! that never happens!) and a tonkatsu sauce, but honestly I was desperately in need of something sweet like ketchup or honey. Wife and I ate a total of 3 pieces. Our waiter was very apologetic and asked multiple times if we wanted it re-done or if we wanted something else, but we were already pretty content by the time we could air our complaints. To my satisfaction, he removed the karaage from the bill. Despite the miss, the customer service and the quality of the other foods makes it easy for me to still give the place full stars.

We began with spring rolls (VERY good - chicken and shrimp) and sake, and the sake program deserves special mention. We selected a very enjoyable $38 bottle and noticed several other bottles at lower price points, along with a wide selection of canned sake--many around $11. Some diners may balk at paying that much for a can, but they will happily pay more for a mediocre glass of wine at half the volume. The value here is actually quite good, especially for those looking to explore sake beyond the ordinary. Our entrées--the ramen and chicken katsu--were excellent. The ramen featured a rich, deeply satisfying broth, while the chicken katsu was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within. If you want a "hotter " ramen - the have an add on for a buck. Service was warm and attentive, reflecting the pride that often comes with a family-owned business. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing the quality of the food to take center stage. Bristol is fortunate to have Sakuratani. Strong Japanese dining options can be hard to find outside larger cities, and for a restaurant only a year old, they seem to be doing many things right. We look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu--and their sake offerings. Highly recommended.

The creamy, rich broth was balanced, the noodles were bouncy (maybe homemade?), and the toppings were all good! I walked into a space that is small and moody, the kind of room that feels lived in rather than designed for a particular aesthetic, and it suited the casual neighborhood feel of the surrounding area. The hot stone bibimbap is the dish that comes up most consistently and with the most enthusiasm. I ordered it and the stone bowl arrived sizzling. The rice along the bottom edges got crispy against the heat in a way that changed the texture and flavor of the whole dish as I ate through it. The beef and mushroom tofu versions are both well executed, and the egg on top finished the bowl correctly. The katsu is a solid option for anyone coming in looking for something more straightforward. I tried it and the breading was crispy while the cutlet inside stayed tender, and the sauce ratio was handled well rather than drowning what was underneath. The gyoza, japchae, seafood pancakes, and yaki soba fill out a menu that covers enough ground to satisfy a table with different preferences. Side dishes are served in modest portions, which was the main point of friction for me since I am used to more generous banchan. Food came out at a good pace and arrived hot. For Korean and Japanese comfort food in Providence, Den Den is a reliable and genuinely satisfying stop.
