    Ichikaru ramen

I've eaten at many ramen noodle restaurants. Unfortunately the ramen here is just 6.5 / 10 for me. The noodle texture was correct. But the broth was a bit watery and lacking in flavor. My husband makes better pork belly than the restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the pork belly was still good, but I've had better. Also they only give you half of an egg, which was a little stingy, considering the price of the dish. Similarly the takoyaki was 6/10. Yes, I'm spoiled from having eaten better ones in New York city. Will probably not be back the next time I'm in town. Service was ok. Granted there was only one waitress so water came out a bit late. Otherwise she was friendly.

Went here a couple of weeks ago before a P-Bruins game and found it to be an underwhelming experience from the food to the service. May give it another try but the entire experience was mediocre at best....

I came here with a couple of coworkers to finally try this place out, and we were definitely impressed. I love the variety of Ramen broths that are available. I tried the tomato based Ramen broth, and it was just perfect. The udon noodles were everything I was looking for. My coworker had the chicken Katsu, and I was so jealous once I looked at it. Service was a little weird, but nothing we couldn't handle. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dining room was clean and organized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Delicious ramen and Japanese tapas! Recently connected with the new Thai restaurant Phed Phed next door, so you can order either menu from either restaurant! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is funky, with a very cool mural of anime characters ranging from the 80's to now![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Currently dining here. Waiter was super sweet but they brought out the wrong cocktails and we immediately told them it was the wrong drink, they said we have to pay for the wrong drinks and could order and pay for the drinks we originally ordered too. So now we have to pay fo 3 cocktails we never ordered. *update: we further discussed with manager and they asked us detailed questions and we assured them we all ordered the same drink and no one ordered the random 3 drinks they brought us. So they then decided not to charge us for the three drinks we didn't order. Such an uncomfortable experience. Thankfully didn't order food yet we we are going to pay the bill and just leave

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Tori Tomo is a hole in the wall Japanese eatery located in downtown Providence. It's casual and decorated with popular Japanese animated movies and anime.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a few tables for large groups on one side and tables for two on the other side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu has a large focus on ramen. They have vegan and vegetarian options, as well as gluten free noodles. Other than ramen, they also serve donburi (rice bowls), katsu sandwiches, and your typical appetizers like edamame, gyoza, and karaage. They even sell liquor! I don't know too many casual ramen spots that serve sake cocktails, wine, and Japanese beer. We ordered the Szechuan wontons ($9 for 6 pieces), Tom Yum Ramen ($16), and Miso Ramen ($16). The wontons were filled with shrimp and pork. They were topped with Szechuan sauce, corn, spinach, shiitake, and beansprouts. This app was average tasting. The filling wasn't very flavorful. The spicy sauce overpowered most of the other ingredients. As for the ramen bowls, the portion sizes were more than enough. All bowls come with half of a soft boiled egg, spinach, bean sprouts, scallions, spice and sesame seeds. Protein choices include chicken, pork belly, beef, or shrimp. The broth for the Tom Yum ramen was very good and tasted exactly like the classic Thai soup. It packed a lot of heat, spice, and tang. There were notes of mushroom, caramelized onion, lemongrass, Thai chili, cilantro, and lime. The broth for the Miso ramen was savory and umami - but it wasn't as rich or deep as it should have been. The pork belly was tender, but needed more seasoning or longer marination time. I'm disappointed with the noodles. They looked and tasted like they came from the cheap Instant Ramen packages. Service was great throughout the meal. Our server was attentive and friendly, refilling our waters right away when we were dying of spice lol I don't think the ramen here is anything to brag about, but it's certainly enough to satisfy your craving for a reasonable price.

    Ichiraku Ramen
    Megan H.

Tori tomo has a good variety of asian foods! I ended up ordering the ichiraku ramen since I was craving it and I usually get tonkotsu ramen. I was satisfied with my meal, but it tasted more like a miso or soy sauce based broth rather than the usual creamy tonkotsu. The pork was also a bit dry. The server was sweet to give me a new egg when I dropped mine though!

    Gyoza
    Julia G.

Delicious ramen! I have ordered the miso ramen with pork belly and the shio ramen, both warm and comforting and extremely flavorful. The gyoza came out with six pieces but looked so good that I had to eat one before taking a picture ! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe of this small restaurant is trendy and they have a great playlist :)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Just wanted to give a quick, much-deserved shout out to the server Sky (with the fun colored eyebrows) who holds it down at Tori Tomo. Sky knows exactly what I mean when I call & ask about the corn situation. They say "oh yeah, we have the good corn" & totally hook it up every time. Thank you kindly, from this corn obsessed person, for understanding me!

Mapo Tofu Veggie Ramen & Kimchee Ramen

All of the food was amazing. So many vegan options. You can order from both Tori Tomo and Phed Phed's menus. Our server was so sweet and encouraging about our menu choices.

Didn't even wanna finish the ramen...

Food is pretty good portions and quality wise just not a lot of seasoning & flavor was fairly disappointing unseasoned chicken unseasoned fried tofu sauce didn't have much flavor either sticky chicken wings aren't bad but it's just spicy sweet Thai sauce :/

My friend originally wanted the Green Curry Ramen, but it was out of stock, so they tried the Spicy Sesame Ramen instead. It was decent, though not particularly memorable. If you're looking for ramen that's very traditional or bold in flavor, this might not fully hit the mark, but there are some tasty options to try. Service: Our waitress was friendly and polite, though we noticed she didn't check in as often as we might have hoped. We did have to go to the bar at one point to request the bill, but overall, she was pleasant. Ambiance: The restaurant is cozy and intimate. There's a sign and curtain near the entrance that says "wait to be seated," which was a little confusing at first, but a regular customer kindly guided us around it. Inside, the seating is a mix of a long bar and smaller two-tops along the walls, so it works best for smaller groups rather than large parties.

We were sadly in a rush and had to be out by a certain time to catch a show, and our server understood the assignment and got us out on the tight schedule we needed. I'm just sad I had to slurp down my soup so quickly as it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I ordered the Snow Mountain Ramen - the creamy tofu broth is unlike anything I've had and was so so unique and delicious. I thought about it for at least a week straight after eating it and am still dying to go back to get more. I also got the Iced Rose Matcha drink - $10 felt too pricy for this but I wanted a fun drink and a little caffeine kick - and again the flavors were unique and tasty. Both my friend and I happened to see someone we knew here - it's definitely a popular spot! It was packed on a Saturday night but it was still pretty quick for us to get a table for 2. Being a downtown city restaurant, the tables feel a bit cramped and I was a little too close to the table next to me for comfort - claustrophobics beware (honestly the soup is worth it though!!) Parking is pretty easy in the lot, although Holy crap they need to fix the potholes / harsh drop-off where it meets the street, and it still was not fully plowed many weeks after the big snowstorm (it's a shared lot so not a Y Noodle specific issue, but just saying). The only thing that was unpleasant were the bathrooms - I get it was a busy weekend night, but they reeked of a litter box the second you stepped in, the floor was dirty and very wet with unknown substances, and the Dyson hand dryer is at such a weird, too high level on the wall that it sprayed water in my face. Everything else was a dream, can't wait to go back! Hopefully the bathrooms were just a fluke.

Not pictured was the tonkatsu meal and my pork belly buns (appetizer for meal). I drank the beer+soju pairing which was good. I never had soju before today. It tasted like apple liquor. I wish that our server had communicated that food comes out as it is ready. My meal came out 10 minutes before everyone else's which is awkward. Although this isn't fine dining, I find a sporadic placement of food to be strange because I sat with my food in front of me waiting for everyone else's. Service is not necessarily friendly, but they are attentive.

With that in mind, there's nothing else I could imagine other than a hot bowl of ramen. Located about 1.7 miles or a 7min drive away, I was excited. Upon pulling up to the front of the building, you can drive slightly further down SE and park in the small lot with several spots. I actually don't remember anything about the interior to comment much. I was laser focused on getting food in my tummy. We ordered; Tan Tan Men ; a bowl of ramen with spicy pork miso broth. this absolutely hit the spot. it was deliciously salty and full of umami, and the toppings were just right, and I inhaled it in minutes Fried Calamari ; another excellent dish. the calamari was nice and crispy and the meat was tender. couldn't have been done any better. the mango chili puree sauce was also very good and something I haven't had before Tako Yaki ; I'm not sure if I need to say anything about this. it's about as yummy and expected of a properly-done tako yaki as you would expect Karaage ; this one was actually pretty upsetting with how bad it was. the chicken seemed like it was very overcooked - the skin was hard and crunchy instead of crispy, the meat was not juicy, and honestly the portions of these chicken bites were pitiful. I even sent a snap to a friend and she felt bad for me. the flavor was also immensely salty. it came with spicy mayo (which was actually spicy! that never happens!) and a tonkatsu sauce, but honestly I was desperately in need of something sweet like ketchup or honey. Wife and I ate a total of 3 pieces. Our waiter was very apologetic and asked multiple times if we wanted it re-done or if we wanted something else, but we were already pretty content by the time we could air our complaints. To my satisfaction, he removed the karaage from the bill. Despite the miss, the customer service and the quality of the other foods makes it easy for me to still give the place full stars.

We began with spring rolls (VERY good - chicken and shrimp) and sake, and the sake program deserves special mention. We selected a very enjoyable $38 bottle and noticed several other bottles at lower price points, along with a wide selection of canned sake--many around $11. Some diners may balk at paying that much for a can, but they will happily pay more for a mediocre glass of wine at half the volume. The value here is actually quite good, especially for those looking to explore sake beyond the ordinary. Our entrées--the ramen and chicken katsu--were excellent. The ramen featured a rich, deeply satisfying broth, while the chicken katsu was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within. If you want a "hotter " ramen - the have an add on for a buck. Service was warm and attentive, reflecting the pride that often comes with a family-owned business. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing the quality of the food to take center stage. Bristol is fortunate to have Sakuratani. Strong Japanese dining options can be hard to find outside larger cities, and for a restaurant only a year old, they seem to be doing many things right. I walked into a space that is small and moody, the kind of room that feels lived in rather than designed for a particular aesthetic, and it suited the casual neighborhood feel of the surrounding area. The hot stone bibimbap is the dish that comes up most consistently and with the most enthusiasm. I ordered it and the stone bowl arrived sizzling. The rice along the bottom edges got crispy against the heat in a way that changed the texture and flavor of the whole dish as I ate through it. The beef and mushroom tofu versions are both well executed, and the egg on top finished the bowl correctly. The katsu is a solid option for anyone coming in looking for something more straightforward. I tried it and the breading was crispy while the cutlet inside stayed tender, and the sauce ratio was handled well rather than drowning what was underneath. The gyoza, japchae, seafood pancakes, and yaki soba fill out a menu that covers enough ground to satisfy a table with different preferences. Side dishes are served in modest portions, which was the main point of friction for me since I am used to more generous banchan. Food came out at a good pace and arrived hot. For Korean and Japanese comfort food in Providence, Den Den is a reliable and genuinely satisfying stop.
