Went into Kalaset for quick breakfast. Was able to get a table no problem 10:30 on a Thursday morning, but was busy by the time we were leaving. Ordered at the counter and received our food at the table. It has a very cute and cozy aesthetic. Mismatched furniture, candles, and blankets galore. Ordered the Scrambled Egg & Bacon. Came as an open faced sandwich with tasty green smash. There was a sausage nestled under the eggs that was really good! Also ordered the banana bread. The two breakfast bundles (falafel and sausages): eggs were wayy overly cooked, sourdoughs are not toasted and cold, and the roasted veges were alright. Falafel and sausages were the only highlight but the portions were so little!!! Like two tiny sausage link and two bits of falafels! The pancake was alright! It's a lovely place so close to Nørreport, among those shady looking ones. I usually referred to Kalaset as the Swedish cafe, simply because "kalaset" means party in Swedish and that they serve a lot of different pancakes. To sum it short, Kalaset is a cafe that serves brunch, Cafe food and turns into somewhat a bar at night (they have long opening hours for that sake). It's a cozy cafe for sure and that said, the food is nothing special. Their brunch plates are still like the old yore where they mix a lot of stuff in your plate, and despite the bacon was really nice, it was kind of boring. The only positive thing about this place, apart from the address so close to Nørreport, so central, is the vegan / vegetarian option. If you have a vegan / vegetarian friend, this might be the obvious choice to go. read more

Quirky, fun place to have a delicious brunch! The decor is a mix of retro, hipster and a flashback to the 60's which gives a great ambiance and environment to a yummy meal. The staff is friendly and helpful and they have a smile while doing that. You order at the bar, they bring it to your table and you pay in the end. And on top of that, the service is fast. The interior is charming, with numerous radios and stereos hanging on the walls. Candles on each table, various different pieces of furniture and a bit old style feeling. It's cosy and good for a chill evening for a dinner. I have heard their pancakes are the must try, but still hadn't had the pleasure. I had the Saigon salad which included ginger marinated beef and noodles. It was delicious, well prepared and filled me up. It also included a fair amount of beef, so good value for money. Found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. It was a nice walk over the bridge from my hostel and wasn't difficult to spot. At first I was confused and didn't know about the self-service component. When I walked in, I told them it was just me so they gave me a table and an English menu. Once I figured out what I wanted, I had to go up to the end of the bar and tell the waiter where my table was along with my order. You have to grab your own utensils and if you order a drink, you'll have to wait by the bar for that as well. The food came within a few minutes. The iced coffee was extremely fresh and their carrot cake was delicious! Great food at good prices - I definitely would visit again. read more

Kalaset is my "sure option". It's always good, no matter what time during the day you come. I believe that they have the best brunch in Copenhagen, with creative things on the plate. (And you get a refill of your coffee for 5 DKK when you eat brunch - yay!). I gotta say, I've been back to Kalaset a few times now and continue to be tickled by the overall scene. It's kind of a no-nonsense, no-pretension, get-yourself-a-drink-and-enjoy-the-good-times bar. I've come here in mixed company and there's pretty much a drink for everyone, and the DJ'd music somehow magically seems to satisfy most tastes. It's never horribly crowded, which I, personally, really appreciate, because there is nothing worse than spilling your drink on yourself because some drunk idiot got nudged by some other drunk idiot and the only place for him to fall was into you. Cosy little Kalaset is a cafe and student hang out not far from Norreport Metro Station. It's got a great ambiance going on and friendly service. It`s a cozy little brunch and coffee place that I occasionally visit as it`s nearby my school. It is a bit like many other places around Copenhagen - cozy, hipstery, vibrant. Food in this place is decent. My personal favorite is Kalaset burger that comes with potato wedges and homemade tomato sauce, but they have also classical Copenhagen brunch and other good things in life. It gets quite busy, especially during the mid-day, so there are chances that there will be no seats available, especially if you turn up in groups. Just went here again for brunch...and the brunch was just as amazing as the dinner I had a week ago! I got the pancakes with maple syrup and fruit...and they were hands down the best pancakes I have ever tasted. They have the formula down! The pancakes were crispy, buttery, and were sweet but not overly sweet (helpful because they don't drown their pancakes in syrup here like we do in the States!). My friend had the walnut pancakes with raspberries and also loved them. The guy working the register recommended the banana/chocolate pancakes, so I'll definitely be coming back to try those before I leave Denmark. The brunch menu had a variety of options for vegetarians, and a really tasty looking vegan plate that had falafel, lentils, and other savory brunch items. Only not pleasant thing was that one time I was in there and waited for my friend for, like, two minutes. Before he arrived, I thought, "nah, I'll just get that coffee now instead of waiting like a baboon" and the dude behind the counter was SUPER RUDE about it, greeting me with a sour puss and saying "thought you were gonna stand there all day" and shit. This was the cutest place I ever had beers at on a Friday night! I mean; grandmother's little home that also opens up in the evenings (and nights)?! Perfect. I had the mormor brunch which truly has a little bit of everything, and I actually enjoyed each and every item. The food is arranged on the plate in such a way that it is slightly deceiving, you don't really realize how much is really there until you start digging in. I surprised myself by not being able to finish it all (in hindsight, perhaps I did not need the fruit smoothee on the side - although it was tasty!).
