I've visited Mad Rooster multiple times, and every time I've been there I've always been pleasantly surprised! The menu is huge, which I don't always like but because Mad Rooster does a good job with everything they serve, they can pull it off. I've tried a few different dishes and have liked them a lot. This weekend, I got the bacon, egg and cheese bagel with an upgraded side of sweet potato fries. The scrambled eggs were loaded onto the bagel, but not so much so that I didn't know where to start. I loved the melted cheese on top. Mad Rooster doesn't take reservations, but you can join the waitlist from afar by going to their website. You'll get a text notification confirming that you joined, and right before your table is ready, you'll get a text saying "you've been removed from the waitlist". Don't be alarmed! This doesn't mean you've lost your spot in line, it means you're almost ready to be seated. The place is always super busy (green flag!) so make sure you get on that wait list unless you're willing to wait 45+ minutes on a weekend morning. read more

I went with my family and we got the Mexican steak bowl, salmon and eggs and the classic breakfast. The ham was so delicious very juicy and tender. The salmon was okay very smokey. Went for lunch and really not sure why so many good reviews. I got the mad burger and asked for red potatoes. First, I got fries instead. My husband and I both asked for red potatoes and we both got fries. My burger was dry. Granted it was 2 smashed patties but that doesn't mean they should be dry. And what made it worse was it did not have any horseradish mayo. Not sure what the atmosphere was supposed to be. Unfortunately, our first impression upon arrival was very disappointing. As we were entering, part of our group was holding the door open for a man using a walker, while others were holding it for the rest of our party to come in behind us. A hostess (blonde hair, snakebite piercing, no visible name tag) addressed us in a tone that felt aggressive and inappropriate for a front-of-house interaction, saying, "Can you close that door?" One of my friends, who is deaf, responded, "Sorry, what?" The hostess repeated herself more sharply, "Close the door, it's cold." When we explained that we were holding it for others, she replied, "Well, can you wait until they're closer? It's cold in here," and gave us a noticeably rude look. This happened immediately upon entering, without any greeting or welcome, which made for a very uncomfortable start to our visit. As someone who manages a restaurant in Milwaukee, I understand how important first impressions are, and this was one of the worst I've experienced. To add to this, the same employee later checked on our table but behaved noticeably differently with us compared to others. She was also very loud while interacting with a nearby table--laughing and flirting in a way that drew attention from multiple guests, many of whom appeared visibly uncomfortable. While we truly appreciated the quality of the food and Addy's service, the initial interaction and overall conduct from the hostess significantly impacted our experience. It is such a shame because the food and waitstaff was absolutely amazing. It's also disappointing to see that responses to reviews appear to be AI-generated through Yext rather than thoughtful, direct replies. This place never disappoints. Breakfast with my son on a Sunday morning. We got right in even though it looked busy. We both got the strawberry pineapple mimosas which were delicious. I got the traditional breakfast scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. Best scrambled eggs at a restaurant. My son got a burrito and fruit. He said it was delicious and the fruit cup was more than just melons and strawberries. This place is always clean and always busy but the staff is friendly and courteous. When we left there was a line out the door and the inside waiting area was packed. The menu was great, lots of amazing options which made it hard to pick! We ordered the Mad Bloody-it was SO GOOD-loved the deviled egg on top. I ordered the avocado, salmon Benedict with upgraded potatoes. Portions were huge. I always rave about the brunch here. One of my girlfriends and I were looking for somewhere to eat one morning and we drove past here! The granola pancakes, red potatoes, and mimosas were so delicious. I will say that we also tried the cinnamon crunch French toast and I a huge fan. You can assume that the inside is farm themed and it is! Very cozy and lots of space. My family and I have been many times. With about 15, 8, and 5 people. Making a reservation is easy and we've always been seated rather quickly. Every waiter and server we've had has always exceeded our expectations! The food tastes great! I love their mimosas! Their potatoes are amazing!!! And I always like how they make their eggs. My most recent order was the stuffed French toast and it was so good, the cream was a Bavarian cream and it complemented the bread and fruits very well. I can't remember if this was a half or full order (sorry) but either one is worth it for me. Prices are similar to most breakfast places nowadays. read more

Obviously I loved this place when I used to come here more often a couple of years ago. I had a very unpleasant experience when I brought friends from out of town. The hostess that seated us seemed stressed and angry, which I understand when it's a busy Sunday, it happens. One in our party was a 4 month old in a car seat and as she seats us in a booth, she doesn't offer to bring a high chair. As we're struggling to figure out seating with a baby, she stares and makes a comment "the table moves". I will note that our waitress was wonderful and more than accommodating during our meal! My husband and I chose to celebrate a small milestone with brunch at Mad Rooster and we were so happy with this decision! It had been years since I had actually been at Mad Rooster, usually opting for takeout instead due to how crowded the restaurant gets and how long the wait times are. The key for us on this Sunday morning was joining the waitlist via Yelp before we even left our house and timing our arrival to coincide with what the waitlist said. Once we got to the restaurant, we still waited about 10 minutes, but it was much better than people who joined the list at the restaurant. Once we were seated, we had swift service. We got water immediately and our waitress checked on us a couple times (but not in a rushing way) to get our orders. I got the seasonal sangria and my husband enjoyed a Peach Bellini. Both were very good and I would easily get both of them again as summery fruity brunch cocktails. For brunch, I am a total savory meal with a sweet side and thank God my husband is willing to go along with this! He got a breakfast burrito with a side of fries, I got the chilaquiles with a side of baby red potatoes, and got a full serving Nutella banana crepes to share between us. The crepes were OUTSTANDING - filled to the brim with Nutella and bananas and a side of whipped cream. They're plenty sweet on their own, but I liked them a lot with some syrup as well which came out warm! My husband liked his burrito, which I didn't try. But the seasoning on the fries he got were very good! My chilaquiles were fantastic - some chips were crispy and some were more loaded with toppings. The flavor was definitely there. Found this place on Yelp and wanted to eat some breakfast before the Brewers/Cubs game this afternoon. Menu has a wide variety of breakfast items so there is a lot to choose from. T had the Greek omelette with fruit and pancakes. The fruit was sweet and fresh and the omelette was delicious. I had the pigs in a blanket. The sausage was excellent with just enough spice to balance the syrup for the pancakes the butter was whipped and easy to spread, not cold and impossible. The service was excellent and the food came out fast. They do Waitlist, so you know how long the wait is going to be. This is a really popular place, and rightly so. But as a Gluten Free person, I want to give a special review of the Greek Yogurt. I ordered the Greek Yogurt with honey and walnuts, and it was the best yogurt I have ever tried. I mean really amazing! The portion size was huge, too, so don't hesitate to order this if you need a filling full meal. (I was worried that I would leave hungry, so I added a side order of crispy bacon, and that was great too. The strips were crisp enough to snap like a cracker without being burnt. Lovely.) I ended up not being able to finish my whole serving, but it wasn't for lack of trying. It was just a big serving! Everyone I know sings the praises of this place. This was a great place! I don't remember much about the food, other than I had no complaints. The Bloody Marys were the standout for me! OMG! They were huge, and almost a meal in itself. Along with the standard celery and pickle garnishes they also included a deviled egg. It was really delicious. We were a a trip and it was the first time we had visited Wisconsin. I guess the whole state is none for their great Bloody Marys. I would go back again just for those!
