I came over to Glendale on a Saturday morning for car maintenance and looked forward to stopping somewhere close by for breakfast afterwards. Bistro on the Glen has been a place I've wanted to visit previously, so that was an easy choice. I ordered the breakfast burrito and two pancakes. The burrito comes with egg, shredded cheese, sausage, and American fries with salsa on the side. The sausage wasn't super prevalent while the odd sweetness of the potatoes was overpowering most of the time. I don't think this is a burrito I'd get again. The pancakes were good. They were sweet enough that you don't need to use much syrup but were more on the dense side than fluffy if I had to nitpick. I feel like they were a good value given their size and price, so that's a plus. If I stop back I would consider getting the pancakes again. read more

Always good food at Bistro on the Glen. But the service kinda missed the mark a just little bit. Was greet quickly when we walked in and was told that we could take any open table. We were greeted by a very young gentleman who took our drink order (2 ol' Fashioned). Then we were served the drinks by our regular server who then took our food order; 2 fried chicken dinner one with fries the other with mashed potatoes. I have yet to complain about the food, alway delicious and today was no exception. The service, just a bit off, we did want another drink but our server didn't come back to check up on us after he dropped off our food. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was a steady amount of people coming in and out. We really wanted a sandwich type of place versus a heavy meal you get most anywhere else. First I want to start of and say that our server was so nice and you can tell this is the kind of place they get to know their customers. There was probably 3-4 interactions we heard where you could tell they just knew their customers. There was 4 of us at a table and our food came pretty quick. I had the half turkey sandwich with a salad. You can pick from sourdough, white, wheat, rye, and multigrain bread. I enjoyed my sandwich and the salad was extremely fresh. I also tried one of my dad's onion rings and they were super tasty. Every one that had hot food at the table you could tell it was hot because of the steam which is a great thing to have. Overall my sandwich and salad hit the spot. I would definitely suggest if you are looking for a comfortable meal for lunch. without feeling crazy full. I'm a firm believer in that if the service is bad, it really ruins my whole experience of the place. Moderately busy, the crowd was mostly older, elderly folks. I was able to pick my own seating in a booth which was nice and the hostess was nice enough to get me my drink right away. However, I was sitting there close to 15 minutes waiting for my server which set the tone for the rest of my dining. Even when she took my order, it felt like there was no personable interactions and like she was getting it over with, impatient like. The food was okay. I liked how crunchy the mozz sticks were but the sandwich had a funny taste to it (was it the lettuce? almost like a play dough flavor) and just wasn't that great in general. The shake was delicious though. Then by the time I had asked for the check I had my card at the table by the time she came back to me to give it to me and I swear she just looked at it and walked away. I was still finishing my shake and it took another older woman (manager I think) who had walked past and seen it, then she finally took care of it. The interactions (or lack thereof) just rubbed me the wrong way, I'm not a difficult patron in the slightest because of my own time I've down in the service industry so it's unfortunate to run into older servers who behave like this. 5,5,5,5,5 .Did a quick search "restaurants near me" and stumbled on this place just by happenstance. From the outside it's just a restaurant front in a small strip building. Once inside is a warm comfortable atmosphere, the wine displayed on the walls is a nice touch ,other decour has some jazz memorabilia. The wine list is amazing for such an excuse the phrase " hole in the wall", their drink menu was equally impressive. The food menu seemed to cover all the bases, quick bites, lunch style meals and full size dinners. When our drinks arrived (two specialty martinis) we both took a first sip and just stopped and looked at each other, the drinks were a perfect blend of flavors,. Thumbs up bartender . It was early in the day so we ordered the "BLT Sandwich" and the "SHRIMP PO BOY". I would recommend either one, the serving size was more than generous. The shrimp Po boy was very tasty and the BLT sandwich filled the plate and served as a second snack at home as well A plus that will be bringing us back for sure, is that they have live jazz during the week and weekends. I remember coming here during the establishment's previous name, Glen Cafe and walking away thoroughly unimpressed. Yet with the name change has also come an improvement in price, service, and a quality. Ordering takeout orders twice in recent weeks, everyone in both parties enjoyed their selections and had few suggestions for improvement. The first visit was for lunch where I enjoyed my grilled cheese. The second was a solid three egg omelette for lunch with American (say what you want about the processed cheese--it melts so much better than cheddar), ham, and mushrooms and appreciated the distribution of ingredients. It's often difficult to get the spacing right. Really the only complaints I have are a lack of online ordering and that the first phone order was a bit rough around the edges with a touch of surliness that I could have done without. The girls and I wanted to go somewhere different for our Saturday brunch. After googling for restaurants near by, we landed on three Bistro Glen.. It's a cute little dinner located in a tiny place off of Good Hope Rd and Green Bay Ave. As we walked in, no one was at the host stand so we waited to be seated. Only to stand there awkwardly for a few minutes and were told to seat ourselves. A sign would've been nice. We were quite hungry and ordered our entrees with additional sides. I ordered the ham steak and eggs. The ham was not too salty as most hams are over seasoned. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The hash was a bit under cooked so it a little soggy. It could've been a bit crispier. The girls ordered the corn beef hash entree. I didn't try it since I'm not a huge corn beef person. But they did say it was over salted. Overall, it's a nice place to bring your folks for a weekend brunch. It's quiet and the servers are extremely nice. Although the food was a hit or miss, we did leave happy and full! read more

This was a long time bookmark because it's just an area that I'm never in so today I would free style breakfast and see what else is in the area after breakfast and I found a farmers market and a and a repair shop that I used to go to that moved so I stopped over to say hi to mike. The restaurant is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The place it self is is nice looking and clean with cool look to it, no dated Greek place here. Exposed brick walls with a nice front bar counter surrounded by tables and booths. The service was excellent with a nauseating coffee and water refill, every couple minutes. The breakfast menu is not big Greek but ok and the Saturday specials look awesome with live music. I try to order real egg dishes because I'm afraid of the the food service liquid eggs so omelettes are mostly out and the eggs, meat and toast are in for me. I ordered the two eggs with pork sausage links, patties are turkey by the way with toast and hash browns. My toast was sourdough and real with that nice dense chewy texture and buttered well, thank you for a good piece of bread. The eggs were perfect sunny up. The hash browns were very tasty and cooked crispy golden brown. The pork sausage links were tasty and juicy, the best part of the breakfast. my bill for breakfast was $26.50 not including a tip for 2 eggs, a short stack of pancakes,(2), 3 strips of over cooked bacon, and a cup of water down coffee. The total I paid was $30. The waitress was embarrassed and apologized when I thought the bill was not for me , couldn't possibly be my Bill I've been a customer at this restaurant for over 30 years. We have weekly gathering with my senior group of friends that will now cease at this establishment because our bill would be between three and $400 for breakfast. The food is only average the cheapest eggs and bacon not a high-end establishment only in a resort in Los Angeles Chicago or New York would you expect to pay $30 and even then it's for an all you can eat incredible buffet read more

A nice, quiet place for my teen and I to have lunch. The menu had quite a variety of options which my daughter appreciated. I chose a flatbread pizza with mushrooms that was an appetizer for my lunch and my daughter had the deluxe chef salad. Both lunches were fresh and tasty. My flatbread was unique and flavorful. We were in town for a tennis tournament and thought we would give this place a try on a Friday night. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our table but the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was desperate for a quick breakfast, so I went to my handy Yelp app and searched for diners near Cardinal Stritch. Bistro On the Glen popped up and seemed to be the most reliable choice. It did not disappoint! Sure my order was as basic a breakfast as you can get (Bacon, eggs, potatoes, toast, and coffee), but it came out exactly as I like it. Plus, I was surprised when they told me they had multigrain bread as a toast option. Nice! Friendly servers serving up good food fast! I visit this place so often that it seems unreasonable to not provide a review. I lunch here during workdays and occasionally come by during brunch hours on weekends. To summarize: classic American diner choices, very reasonable prices and portions, clean and organized, and attentive but not intrusive service. Expect to leave full but not terribly so, with your wallet no lighter than when you came in. I often visit for lunch more so than anything else, and their food remains incredibly consistent. Having worked my way around most of the menu, some items are more, perhaps, reasonable than others in terms of price to portion. The coffee is usually pretty good also, although occasionally a little stale or burnt. Their eggs are always made perfectly to order. The service is probably the most redeeming part of this place; not once have I ever been disappointed by their service. Water, coffee, soft drinks, they never have a chance to go empty. Tables are bussed only when it's clear the person is done eating, and so on. Take out is a great choice also, no discernable difference in portion size (which may be an issue at other places). read more

This place delivers a lot more than you'd expect at the typical strip mall spot. Visiting from out of town, I see "fish fry Friday" every where - so I have to ask what the difference is between the fish and chips on the menu (~$8) and the "Fish Fry" ($14) - fish and chips are the standard of the trade, frozen, nothing special. The Fish Fry on the other hand is fresh fish, hand battered. I went with the server's recommendation - Cod - very tasty, moist, good texture. Instead of fries, I went for the potato pancake option - also really well done. The wife had the half tunafish salad and cup o chowder with some chips. Strong thumbs up on all of those. The daughter had the egg, cheese and spinach sandwich with hashbrowns. Fresh, tasty, well prepared good portion size. We were able to get a seat right away, our server was a jewel. A friend and I were in the area and decided to try this small cafe. We entered and waited to be seated but there was no one at the hostess stand. And then here comes this sweet woman to seat us who appeared to be the server as well. We grabbed a booth against the wall. The restaurant can be described as a cute quaint place. They also have a larger TV by the bar area (for sports concerns). Although the bar area doesn't seem to be an actual bar. There also seems to be a quite older crowd and from what I'm guessing they are regulars. She came over to give us menu's everything was reasonably priced, cheaper of the cafe's I'm use to going to. I started off with the gumbo which was the soup of the day. It wasn't the worst I've ever had but I certainly wasn't the best I'd give it 3 out of 5. Then I followed by the swiss and mushroom burger. They didn't ask for a temperature but once I received the burger I understood why (one of those thin patties). I opted to substitute the chips for onion rings which were actually pretty good, cooked to perfection (they do charge 3.95 extra). My friend ordered the Reuben which she seemed pleased with and opted for the hash instead of the chips too. Overall it's worth a quick decent meal with a homely service. read more

All the ingredients of a good diner are here. Friendly, attentive servers, endless coffee, great American fries, firm scrambled eggs, and delicious "home-made" cherry pie. I asked the waitress if they bake the pies on premise, hoping to hear about some grandmother of the owner toiling away in the floury back cutting up apples for the apple pie and relying on her internal clock to know just when to pull the pies out of the oven. The waitress said: "No, we import them." Import them? Wow, I thought, now that's super intriguing as I was imagining daily flights from a quaint little baker in Greece or some exotic place. Pray tell, I asked, where are they imported from? "Chicago." I burst out laughing (more at my out of control imagination) and said, Well, you guys have a winning source--great crust and wonderful filling.
