I go to the Detroit location all the time and I'm so happy there's one here now! They have great coffee and their seasonal drinks are always so interesting and flavorful. If they still have it you have to try the banana stand. They also occasionally have vegan treats available. The interior is so cute and cozy. I love that they have different options for seating, including the outdoor patio. The baristas make really good lattes. read more

Currently, Blue Boat Coffee is pick up only, but the inside looks so freaking cute & I can't wait until they reopen the inside so I can check it out. But for now, you can place the order online & wait in this delightful courtyard surrounded by cute shops & adorable patio furniture for your drinks. They have a very nice selection of drinks on their menu & I was interested in many of the options, which was surprising because I'm normally not a huge coffee fan. But when I see a sign that they carry Madcap coffee, which I absolutely LOVE, I know I'm going to order something! I ended up getting the miel, which was a latte with honey & cinnamon, and it was absolutely divine. While road-tripping around the Leelanau Penninsula for a day trip. Coffee is key. I had brought some from home for the drive, but while enjoying the beautiful, quaint town of Leland, I remembered Blue Boat Coffee. My wife and I had been to Leland in winter and Blue Boat was closed, so I was super excited to give it a try. With COVID precautions, their shop is keeping employees and customers safe by offering window-only service. But still, the service and coffee were incredible. I intended to order a pour-over of one of their MadCap varieties, but when I saw a Café Miel on the menu board, I knew I had to switch it up. They had oat milk, so I could avoid the dairy, but still enjoy the velvety smooth, slightly sweet and cinnamon latté. And it was fun knowing that their honey is sourced locally from the area! My café miel tasted fantastic and was the perfect pick-me-up for the rest of the afternoon drive. I applaud the resiliency and creativity of all hospitality businesses to figure out how to weather this current pandemic. I wish Blue Boat all the best this summer! read more

Very high quality beverages, but in a teeny facility which only affords them space for one barista and one cashier/barista, so service is quite slow during peak times. I wish there was more than one sizing option, especially for the to-go beverages where the default cup is small. I genuinely feel for the employees crammed into this small space. This vastly, vastly exceeds the quality of all the other coffee stores in the area so they can afford to reside in a larger facility and command a bigger share of the curbside real estate and market. The service was really kind, with the young woman even asking me if I was local or just visiting, etc. I also felt like the food selection, or at least the sandwiches, were excellent and well priced (whereas the drinks, I thought, were too pricey). read more

The workers inside, who were doing nothing, saw my confusion regarding how to order, which door to use, etc., but did nothing to help. I finally opened the screen door to talk through the half-door, asking if I order here, and they informed me I order online. Here for wedding and decided to take a stroll around town. While my lady was shopping for tights, I decided to stop in here for a cup of coffee. First thing you'll notice is the layout and decor. It's clean and classy. You'll see a few pour over stations--always encouraging--and your usual coffee house machinery. Another encouraging thing to note, they have a hot water dispenser with temperature clearly set to 205--excellent! I got a latte and truth be told, it was as good as any latte I've had in NYC. Be aware, their prices are also NYC prices. If you're in the area, you should def do yourself a favor and stop into this coffee shop. Blue Boat Coffee was a fun find during my walk around Leland this past weekend! Tucked away inside the corridor between buildings, this quaint coffee shop delivered with fun offerings different from most coffee shops. Their baked goods looked amazing, but I did not try any of them. Instead, I ordered a Cherry Steamer (steamed milk with cherry syrup) while my wife got a Michigan Maple Latte - two items we haven't seen offered anywhere else. Both were great. The girls behind the counter were super nice as well. The place was empty when we arrived, but it was packed by the time we left. read more

Arrived just after 8AM opening and found several ahead of me. Ordering was quickly processed and our lattes were some of the best tasting ever--so smooth with the right amount of acidity. Didn't catch the location until I went to the post office from the marina, after hours. It's in a small recessed shop off Main Street. There is a sign on the grass on Main if you keep watch. Enjoy. Best coffee right in the town of Leland. There are nice tables in a little courtyard to sit and enjoy your cup. Only downside is that you *must* order online. It would be better if they gave you the choice of ordering in person if you want, especially because my cell service in that location wasn't especially good. read more

Really cool place, it's off the beaten path adds to the uniqueness of this place! You walk outside and it opens up to an outdoor courtyard with a massive tree and nice seating! Very nice place to relax and have a cup of coffee. 4 stars because a cup of coffee was $3.50. read more

We've spent multiple summers on the Leelanau Peninsula and keep finding our way back to Blue Boat. It's a small and minimalistic interior but hits all the right needs. Best coffee shop I had the pleasure of going to while around Traverse City/ northern MI. I was very happy to see they serve Madcap coffee out of Grand Rapids- such a talented and knowledgeable group of coffee roasters. So obviously the coffee was delicious, also the baristas knew how to prepare a proper cup of coffee. I ordered an iced latte and enjoyed it so much that I had to grab another coffee before I left.
