Desperately wanted a few shots of espresso to go in my protein drink. And on our way to Clay Cliffs we didn't pass a single place until this coffee shop. Whew. Went in and got 2 shots of cold espresso with a cup of ice. And added my premier protein. Yes! The espresso was very good and the service quick and friendly. They had a decent size menu with fair prices and choices beyond just coffee drinks. Snacks and other stuff for those wanting to grab stuff for a hike too. While I do wish they had more of a food and pastry selection, each time I am in Lake Leelanau, I will visit this coffee shop 3 to 4 times in my visit. They have great coffee and great. matcha. The service is always friendly. I love this place because I can walk there from where I stay in Lake Leelanau, the ambience on the inside is great and there's some lovely outdoor seating by tall trees outside, which is also lovely. I love that there's a great coffee shop in this wonderful small town. I will continue to visit this place every time I'm in the area. read more

Very cute interior but subpar iced lattes. This is a great local coffee shop with great brewed coffee, hot lattes, and plenty of seating. My one complaint is their iced coffee. Maybe I'm being a bit of a snob, but we watched the barista grab a cup of premade espresso out of the fridge and then pour it into our cup rather than making it fresh. When I booked our vacation rental I was excited to show my husband that we were walking distance to Pedaling Beans. He's a coffee junkie and having a coffeehouse stumbling distance away won me MAJOR points! The question was, how IS the coffee? I'm happy to report it's great! I had the cold brew and it was quite tasty. They also have hot and frozen beverages and some bites by way of pastries both house made and from local bakeries. Gosh, I hate to tell you about this place because it's busy enough on weekend mornings but... This is just a great, typical, cozy coffee shop -- one that every town MUST HAVE. The cycling theme adds a unique charm! We love to walk here and sit in the warm interior or outside if it's nice. The owner is delightful and the staff are hard working. Oh, the coffee? Visited this neat coffee house for the first time today. I ordered a medium white mocha and it was good. Excited to see they offered baked goods, cookies, croissants, etc from Third Coast Bakery and 9 Bean Rows. They had holiday coffee drinks and many flavorings to choose from. They also sell local ceramic mugs and beans to buy. They also had Chocolate Oatley "juice boxes" and other drinks. I would definitely return. read more

This is the WORST coffee shop we have ever been to. Poor service, coffee not hot and poor customer service. Placed order outside (due to Covid and no problem) even though a prior customer was inside with her dog. After we placed our order for a cappuccino and regular coffee another customer came up and placed their beverage order of 5 drinks and waiter and barista filled their order first. There was a 15 minute wait just to get our two beverage. NOT ACCEPTABLE. It had been a year since we were at this coffee shop and then it was great. I have to second the reviewer who commented on the nice foam - like biting into a pillowy cloud. It's also a fun place to strike up conversation with the locals, and there's definitely plenty of inspiration on the walls. Along with the coffee, we picked up a couple cookies and a muffin. First things first: Pedaling by far has the best quick brewed coffee in Leelanau County (now that Frida's is no longer in existence) but I give it 3 stars purely because of the customer service. Coffee drinkers need coffee first thing in the morning. It's what wakes us up and keeps us going. So naturally you would expect to enter a coffee shop and the barista has a smile on her face handing you coffee. Not at Pedaling Beans. (The owner smiles, but that's about it.) No one likes going to get their coffee and the first interaction with another human is so sour because of the baristas attitude which completely throws your morning out of the window. I wish I could say only I have had this experience but unfortunately the customer service has been the topic of discussion on plenty occasions with many different people. It's also the fact that I'm a local. I pay 2.07 for your coffee almost 4 times a week yet still get treated like an unwanted tourist. One other suggestion: move your hand pumped coffee to the outside and let customers drop money in a jar and self serve their own coffee. We're in a rush to get to work and don't have time to stand in a long line to then have grumpy baristas snark and scuff at you in the morning. Brew does self serve and it works in the city so it would definitely work in this trusting county. I really don't mean to be rude but after 2 years of being a customer I felt the need to say something because it hasn't changed one bit. read more

This has become a regular stop during our visits in the Leelanau, even if we have to drive out of the way to get there....the staff is always very friendly; the (locally roasted) coffee and iced tea is always delicious. They also stock a variety of mostly locally sourced baked goods -- huge muffins and brownies and croissants. Bonus: The business has birdfeeders outside the back windows, so while you're waiting for your order you can watch an assortment of woodland birds enjoying themselves. read more

My family and I have been coming here ever since PB opened its doors. I live less than 5 miles away from this place but I would easily drive much more for this place. I swear to god, they have THE best frozen drinks I have ever had. I am an avid Starbucks, Bigby and Caribou drinker and they don't beat Pedaling Beans. I always see a friendly and familiar face behind the counter. I find it odd that some people here think that they are rude, seeing that I have been coming here since it's been open and have never gotten bad service. A pleasant coffee house and one of the few in the area that says open past 3pm. The coffee is a fairly light roast and there is no food to speak of aside from scones and muffins (not baked in house). My main complaint though is that they serve cold brew diluted with so much water it tastes like tea. it's just awful and a waste of money to boot. Please serve proper cold brew! read more

Very rude to cyclists. Since the sale of the business this place as gone down hill. No more cycling memerobilia, you can't touch anything on the counter inches away from your hands. No restroom visit after a long journey unless you buy something. No more visits from our group. We enjoyed years of riding to this place for ice cream and espresso.
