Evening Milking Stout. Haven't had a milk stout in a while and it was "udderly" good. Ha!
    Alden C.

MadCow was on my list for a while to try. Part of the reason being it took a while is when we do go to Portland we don't make it Gresham typically but I remembered the brewery last time I was down and finally made a visit happen. The Evening Milking Stout is what I got and really enjoyed it with it's sweetness of chocolate and to even out a coffee feature that then kicks in making a very fine balanced beer. The taproom is chill and relaxed. On a busy night it could get crowded but it was nice mellow here. Of course where would I be without getting swag? The newer release of a blue shirt with a cow skull logo was just what I was hoping. Perhaps a unusual choice since I often try to distance my rural upbringing with style but the shirt was urbane and cool enough that it didn't feel "oakey".

I was with some friends heading back in to PDX from a hike in the Gorge and this place popped up when searching breweries. Not really far from where we live, but just in the opposite direction from where we normally look. I was pleasantly surprised! We cruised thru a few flights and managed to sip most of what was on tap that day. While I wasn't a huge fan of the IPA options, I was really happy to see some formerly common, but currently harder to find styles. Brown, red, stout, porter, etc. Really nice mix of options, and all really solid. I really liked the pumpkin cream ale, which sounded like a terrible idea, but was oddly tasty. (Great prices for flights and beers, too) The flights come in fun (is it a milk jug) shaped glasses, and the snacks we tried were decent. Nice to get off the beaten path to a place that's easy to get to and has great parking. We'll likely head this direction again.

You know, I've thought about coming here many times over the year or two It's been located here. I will say I really wish they would expand their menu to do a little bit more because it really is a great spot that I could imagine coming to the very simple menu. We did a couple of small bites and a couple flights in though I won't say it was my top brewery or the favorite place I've been to this year I will say I am glad to see something thriving in the shopping center and I'm glad to support it

The options are many. I liked the blackberry hard tea and huckleberry cream ale. The panini are good too. Grilled cheese and chips hit the taproom spot. Very low key environment with friendly people.

Bring a friend. Rooster red is solid. Reuben sandwich: same same. The vibes??? Absent. It's Gresham. You get what you get

I am visiting my daughter and she brought me to this Madcow Brewery Co. Because she knows I like IPA.s , I tried the Hip Silo Double IPA. It was recommended when I asked for something hoppy and was a good choice. I loved it. My daughter got the Hoodview Cider she loved it and had a flight as well. Great place I highly recommend it if you are in the area!

MadCow has expanded their food menu. Their sandwiches are phenomenal. They can make all of there sandwiches panini style.

I was very glad to see a new brewery close home. Stopped in to check it out with my wife. The inside is light and airy. There is some outside seating,, nice but intimate. The staff (one of the owners), was super friendly and helpful. They have quite a selection of craft brews and a few ciders too. I ordered a flight that included a red, IPAs, and a stout. They were all very good, and I will definitely become a regular. The food choices, while offered, are fairly limited. We ordered a small nacho and it was Ok, but I understood I was there for the microbrews, not food. The focus, so far, is the great Ales not food. For a taproom I think this is fair. On the way out from sitting outside, we bussed our own table, not required as far as I know, but they appreciated the effort. I sincerely hope to see this place continue to have a home.

Great service, great drinks, and the best pizza I've had in decades!…read more The beers Backwoods makes are all delicious and smooth-drinking. The service staff was all exceptional. But the pizza! Off the charts!, FULL REVIEW of all Services: If anyone who enjoys hiking, river fishing, or just a general outdoor-focused vacation wants a good, simple getaway with their spouse/loved one, check out the Backwoods brand in Carson, Washington (just north-northeast of Bridge of the Gods/Cascades Locks). Backwoods Cabins offers a really great overnight stay option. The 8 cabins there are all basic "two-room" designs (bedroom and attached bathroom, and a living room / mini-kitchen room). The cabins sport king-sized beds, a gas fireplace and outdoor fire, a mini kitchen with refrigerator/freezer and microwave (no stove/range). I think 3 of the 8 cabins welcome dogs. The Backwoods brand also owns Backwoods Brewery, which is just across the road from the cabin property. They have great microbrew beers (from light lagers to GREAT stouts!). The brewery also has a smokehouse, with fantastic smoked brisket, pulled pork, and house-made sausage/brats. But even better, the Backwoods Brewery offers the BEST PIZZA I've had in decades. The pizza dough is a perfect balance of flavor and texture. It's not too thin and not too thick. The crust is chewy in the middle, with a great crusty edge and base. The red sauce (they also have a white sauce we didn't try) is thick and rich, with a few tomato chunks. It's got a slight spicy bite with a sweet finish. They also have some unique house pizzas. We tried the Whistle Punk - Red sauce, bacon, smoked brisket, peppadew peppers, sweet onions, fresh mozzarella rounds - and the Pepperoni Express - Red sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, tomatoes, banana peppers, smoked mozzarella. Both were outstanding. I'd go so far as to say both Donna and I deemed these the best pizzas we've had in 35+ years (noting that our first date was at a pizza joint in Fife we both thought was the best-ever pizza). If you stay in the Backwoods Cabins, you get two coupons for free drinks at the brewery (beer/wine/cider/cocktails) as well as an assortment of snacks for your hiking adventures, and a full S'mores kit to use over the gas fire pit. And if you are in a dog-friendly cabin, you get complimentary treats, and water/food bowls for your canines.

Gluten free review:…read more Came here after a hike because I believe in balance, climb a hill, eat a pizza. Thrilled they had gluten-free options. Tried the Tree Hugger 10" GF pizza and it was genuinely tasty. The crust? So good. The staff? Kind. The price? About $20, which felt a little "ouch," but the pizza did not, and that's what matters. The place was fun and great ambiance. Take a fun trip and go try this place out.

So much art to look at, curiosities tucked in every corner, space to roam and explore! - Get the passport to make your stay even more rewarding and fun! I love the scavenger hunts and the stamps force you to do things you might not normally do on your own accord. - The full pitch and putt course is a relaxing and a fun way to spend a few hours. It was only $25 per person and took us 3 hours. - I signed up for the Makers Tour and highly recommend it! Lots of tastings and great historical facts along the way. - The soaking pools at night were perfect to relax muscles right before bed plus no kids after 8pm. - This hotel doesn't revolve around children. The movies that were showing were rated R and most of the pubs and pool hall are 21+. Kids are welcome - but I've never seen that many kids around which I like, personally. - It's very Dog Friendly!! - The live music is incredible. The Highlights * The Saltwater Outdoor Pool: This was the absolute highlight of our stay. The water is kept at a perfect 38°C (100°F), making it incredibly relaxing. I highly recommend visiting after 8:00 PM when the pool becomes an 21+ area. * Thoughtful Details: The robes provided were high quality and very comfortable. Pro-tip: Be sure to bring flip-flops for the walk to and from the pool area. * Art & Dining: The murals throughout the hotel are fascinating to look at. We also had great experiences at the on-site bars and the Black Rabbit Restaurant, where both the food and the service were excellent. The Room & Stay Quality We specifically booked a room with a private bathroom and shower. However, most rooms at this location utilize communal facilities. Unfortunately, our room was located very close to the shared bathrooms and lavatories. Due to a complete lack of etiquette from other guests using those facilities, it was extremely noisy throughout the night. Because of the poor sleep quality and the noise levels, we likely won't be staying here again. It's a beautiful property, but the layout and noise issues made it difficult to fully enjoy our birthday celebration.
