This last weekend was my 4th stay at Edgefield and let me tell you all my favorite things plus a few extra tips! - The vibe is perfect for anyone who is tired of the standard hotel. So much art to look at, curiosities tucked in every corner, space to roam and explore! - Get the passport to make your stay even more rewarding and fun! I love the scavenger hunts and the stamps force you to do things you might not normally do on your own accord. - The full pitch and putt course is a relaxing and a fun way to spend a few hours. It was only $25 per person and took us 3 hours. - I signed up for the Makers Tour and highly recommend it! Lots of tastings and great historical facts along the way. - The soaking pools at night were perfect to relax muscles right before bed plus no kids after 8pm. - This hotel doesn't revolve around children. The movies that were showing were rated R and most of the pubs and pool hall are 21+. Kids are welcome - but I've never seen that many kids around which I like, personally. - It's very Dog Friendly!! - The live music is incredible. I've been here for big concerts on the lawn plus mini concerts down the winery hall. They were all amazing. - It can get noisy between 7-11pm especially in weekends! The building is old - not sure about insulation and things! Bring some earplugs, a positive attitude and maybe enjoy an extra drink! Or go during the week for a quieter experience. - The food is a bit pricey but if you are doing the passport it makes a little more sense. Some of my favorites are the Cajun Tots, Portland Dip, any Burger, and the Bagel and Lox Breakfast is Incredible!!! read more

I typically won't go to any McMenamins as service is slow and non-existent and food is okay, even thought it takes to long to arrive. The Chardonnay was the best part. Very good, but it was $16.25 for a 9oz pour...it should be good. The small Caesar with Grilled Chicken was ok. But again, $16.00 is too expensive. I did look further and saw that the Cheeseburger, with Fries and a Pickle Spear is $25.00. No way. My server was Adam. I hope this is a short term gig for him as he was non-existent...which is what I expected. His lack of attentiveness to me was horrendous. I will not return to any McMenamins, as I stated at the beginning, service is slow, food is okay and it has become too expensive. read more

​My husband and I recently spent two nights at McMenamins Edgefield to celebrate our birthdays. While the property has its unique charms, our experience was a mix of wonderful amenities and significant disturbances. The Highlights * ​The Saltwater Outdoor Pool: This was the absolute highlight of our stay. The water is kept at a perfect 38°C (100°F), making it incredibly relaxing. I highly recommend visiting after 8:00 PM when the pool becomes an 21+ area. * Thoughtful Details: The robes provided were high quality and very comfortable. Pro-tip: Be sure to bring flip-flops for the walk to and from the pool area. * Art & Dining: The murals throughout the hotel are fascinating to look at. We also had great experiences at the on-site bars and the Black Rabbit Restaurant, where both the food and the service were excellent. The Room & Stay Quality ​We specifically booked a room with a private bathroom and shower. However, most rooms at this location utilize communal facilities. Unfortunately, our room was located very close to the shared bathrooms and lavatories. Due to a complete lack of etiquette from other guests using those facilities, it was extremely noisy throughout the night. Because of the poor sleep quality and the noise levels, we likely won't be staying here again. It's a beautiful property, but the layout and noise issues made it difficult to fully enjoy our birthday celebration. read more

I've always loved the quirkiness of McMenamins. The art, all of the fun lighting features, the beautiful old buildings, they're all fun. This was my first time at Edgefield and it didn't disappoint. Edgefield is a super cool property! Historically, it was a "poor farm" where folks of all professions and ethnicities lived in order to get a "leg up." It was a 300 acre farm that at one point had over 600 folks living and working there. In the 70s, private nursing homes and in-home care was more accessible and so the place closed in 1982. It went into disrepair until the McMenamin brothers purchased it in 1990. They started with the winery, then a brewery, then a distillery. They added pubs and movie theaters, and eventually lodging. They built out the rest of the property into a full hotel, many numerous bars and restaurants, gardens and shops, a golf course, a spa, and of course a really cool concert venue. When visiting, it's well worth doing the art & history tour if you have the chance, OR the makers tour. Both are interesting and informative and will earn you a unique stamp on the McMenamins passport. You can truly spend a whole day here, or more if you stay overnight! The food and beverage will be familiar if you've been to other McMenamins properties. read more

I haven't stayed at McMenamins Edgefield, but I have attended a summer outdoor concert here. (I've stayed and eaten at many McMenamins properties over the years.) We love an outdoor concert, so almost automatically we appreciate the venue, set just outside of Portland. It's a casual setting, organized with plenty of food, beer, wine and cocktail stalls, rental seating that you book ahead, a large stage and big grass seating area. There is a covered pavilion for people with disabilities to sit away from crowds. We found it comfortable and not too crowded in the grass area, on rented chairs, with room to spread out. They have plenty of portable toilets and places to wash your hands at the back of the venue. Things ran smoothly during the show, but lines were long for food and merchandise. It was on leaving the venue that we encountered a 2 hour wait to leave the parking lot. That was slightly insane. They had staff organizing auto departures, but there has to be a better way to do it. This was so painful. Another area for improvement: food options were pretty disappointing. Lines were long, with offerings like mediocre pizza, hotdogs, hamburgers and just-okay bbq falling into the "about what you'd expect" territory at a typical sports venue, but not from a restaurant & hospitality company. Drink options were better, with signature cider, beer and cocktail offerings, but these required a separate line. Food options should be improved. We enjoyed the show and the setting, but exiting this venue was tough. When leaving a parking lot takes one to two hours, it takes away from the overall concert-going experience. read more

We went to McMenamins for wine and whiskey tasting. We left with a few bottles to take back home to AZ. Before leaving we stopped into another bar on the property called, the Rabbit Bar. My husband had an old fashion with their whiskey in it and I enjoyed an espresso martini. We stopped into the gift shop and took a nice walk on the property. It is a beautiful place and nice to walk at night. The restaurant smelled delicious, so we may return for a meal before we leave. read more

Good food at the power house pub with very friendly service. The front desk and gift shop staff were very welcoming. Love the outdoor fire pits and they need more of them. The soaking pool is incredible but they need better lighting on the path, more robe hooks around the perimeter and staff to clean up all the plastic cups. I would hope visitors would clean up after themselves but you can't fix people. Overall a wonderful stay and enjoyed meeting friendly guests throughout our time. read more

I've not stayed here but definitely would. The hotel is large and located on a beautiful plot of ground. The garden area is beautiful and they have lots of awesome spots to eat and drink. In the two times I've been, I've only eaten and had some drinks so that's what my review is based on. On my most recent visit, we dined at the Loading Dock Grill. It's an outdoor restaurant with seating in a garden type area that is beautiful in nice weather. The service was great and the waiter was friendly. I started with a Blackberry hard cider. It's super good and refreshing. Nice flavors. Highly recommend! For dinner I ordered the Bahn Mi Blitz Chicken sandwich: crispy chicken tossed in a sweet Thai chili sauce, imperial dragon aioli, pickled daikon carrot slaw, fresh cilantro, and jalapenos slices. I opted for the Cajun tots as a side. The sandwich was fantastic. They were out of the aioli but I honestly didn't miss it. It had great flavor and I enjoyed it. The Cajun tots were also good. Overall, zero complaints and it was a great first meal in Oregon to kick off my vacation. I'll definitely return on my next visit and hopefully I'll get a chance to try out the hotel. read more

Love this place and the whole concept! Beautiful grounds, lots of fun things to do, different places to go for food and drinks. I came to the winery area to do their wine tasting while watching a live music performance. The band was the How Long Jug Band, which was super cool. We got the red wine flight with the meat and cheese board. Everything was yummy! relatively affordable, around $40-50 for two people. Of the four wines, the 2021 Fennwood pinot noir was definitely my favorite, perfect balance of tartness and fruit flavors. I definitely would come back! read more

(From August 2024) Many Oregonians are familiar with McMenamins, the multi-purpose venue that's a hotel, golf course, restaurant, brewery, event space, and concert venue all rolled into one location. Edgefield is the concent venue which I had the pleasure of attending back in late August for the 311/AWOLNation/Neon Trees show. As many of you know, 311 is the band I travel for so when I saw they would be performing in this neck of the woods during my time in Portland, I had to get my ticket to check it out. I was pleased with the show; very good sound quality and the concert goers were friendly and pleasant. Also props to the security team and the crowd for helping the girl near me get medical attention after she was dehydrated and near unconscious. The area is can be confusing to navigate to find merchandise, drinks, or restrooms; be sure you follow the signs. Definitely recommend the VIP area since you're up close and don't have to deal with large crowds. I wouldn't mind coming to another show here. Pretty good! read more

So I had been looking forward to this concert for months. I entered the venue @ ~5pm and I decided to buy a slice of pizza. They already didn't have any pepperoni left so i settled for a $7 slice of veggie (green pepper). There was no way I was paying $4 for a 8oz mini can of soda. I had no skin in the game for Foxing or Taking Back Sunday...I didn't know either band but I sat through both sets. Coheed came on at about 8:30 and four songs into the set Travis said..."I don't want to talk to long because we have a hard curfew and we want to get through the entire effing set." Basically they had to be done @ 10 pm because I am guessing that is "lights out" for the hotel. Long story short, I will not be attending any more concerts at McMenamins hotels anymore. read more

We did the long spooky trips tour last night. Highly recommend. The price was very reasonable, in addition we got to try some cider samples along the way. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and fun. It was fun seeing parts of the property you may not normally get to see. read more

We came for the Spooky Ghost Tour and stayed the night. We had an amazing experience with Drew and Carly as our guided ghost tour team that showed us around the property and gave all the little juicy secrets about the ole poor house. Our room was in the old infirmary, which made our Halloween visit to Edgefield that more spooky.. After our tour we changed into our complementary robes and made our way to the soaking pool. It started raining on us as we soaked which made it that much more magical and daring.. Then we dried up in our room and caught a quick game of pool at Jerry's. The next morning, we enjoyed a great diner style breakfast at Black Rabbit and then made our way to the pop up Samhain bar by the golf course. Enjoyed a couple signature cocktails in the spooky mugs for sale, the one with the red bell pepper was the best! The bartender was so cool and she talked us into playing a 9hole of golf. It was my first time playing and wouldn't you know it, I got a hole in one on the 7th!! All while puffing on a Cohiba. Best Trip Ever!! read more

I like that they describe themselves a quirky, as I would as well, in a positive way. My company has been coming here for years, first for holiday parties, and now an annual golf event. Both large spaces, ballroom and BlackBerry Hall are great, and they just out in a new projection screen and set up in BlackBerry, so it's perfect for a company event or wedding reception. The event services and onsite folks are very friendly, but sometimes may take a moment to get back to you, as it's very busy. Food is great and consistent. And their drinks are very nice as well, all the signatures are there. It can be a little hard on concert days or busier times in the summer to get in and out, but this is really a unique place to chill out or "live," a fun, farm and food life for a weekend. Got to see Weird Al for the second time (first time for my girlfriend and daughter). Still a legend. We went on 8/14/25 at Edgefield in Troutdale, OR. He still puts on a great show and we had a lot of fun. Lots of laughs and great weather. My daughter got to hear her favorite songs, Amish Paradise and White and Nerdy (she also likes Fat, among others), and she was very thankful for the experience afterwards, which was very sweet. For White and Nerdy he came out on a segway again, which is always funny, and arguably one of the best entrance's of all time (probably in my top two favorites). Went here last night for a friend's retirement party and ordered their 'Tropical' pizza which was supposed to have pineapple on it. It arrived with four (4) pieces of pineapple on the entire pizza and a burned/blackened crust similar in thickness as Mod's. If they're going to serve Little Caesar's quality pizza, they should charge Little Caesars' prices, and not $21.75. Afterwards, we went to Lucky's game room/bar in an adjacent building. I went to the bar to get some change. Three women standing behind it, only one of which was waiting on the line of 6 or 7 people. The other two were busy texting. The hotel was packed and sold out for the evening that I most recently attended a concert, but I have gotten to stay in the hotel before. There is such a huge variety of amenities to take advantage of. Multiple restaurants and bars, movie theatre, vineyards, soaking pool, golf course, and more! Although it is a more adult-centric hotel it is also family friendly. The staff here is also great. This is a beautiful place to be hang out at when weather is nice. There are a couple of restaurants, a few bars, mini-golf, cigars. It is also a hotel, so they know hospitality. There is also a spa. Dog friendly. There is parking. During spring and summer, flowers and landscape is beautiful. It's opened late, can continue on the night with drinks and cigars outside in one of the many sitting areas or fire pits. read more

For my birthday weekend my wife planned a trip to Edgefield. I had never been but I can say we will be back. We stayed Friday to Saturday and had a blast. Friday we had booked ourselves a day at Ruby Spa. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. We got there a bit before our appointment at 12:15 pm but they got us checked in and showed us to the back. We both had a facial, body scrub, massage and pedicure. All of which were lovely. The pedicure was a little underwhelming but that is simply because everything else was great. Our appointments were pretty much back to back besides our last appointment which was our pedicure but it allowed us enough time to check in to our room before coming back down! After our time at Ruby spa we had dinner at the Black Rabbit which was delicious. They had a great cheese and meat board! Overall dinner was great and service was also great. The bread pudding was a tad disappointing. The alcohol was so strong it was off putting but that was minor compared to everything. Last part of that night was soaking in the spa. It was great that the Tea House was open and serving drinks! Adult only time was by far the right choice on when to come! We had a nice relaxing time even in the pouring down rain! The next day after breakfast we sat up by the golf course with drinks next to the fire, walked around, did a brewery tour, played pool and enjoyed our time. There is always something to do at Edgefield and quite frankly it was an amazing time. The room was spacious, cool and comfortable. 10/10 recommend. read more

Lowest stress concert location ever! Do recommend arriving early, reserve chairs from the venue. Lines are long but move quickly. Recommend eating before you arrive as the food on site was mediocre at best. Towels allowed are small towel size and not beach towel sizes. People were respectful and rarely stood up in the concert which was refreshing. Beautiful venue nestled in the trees. read more

Last night we wandered over to McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale. Once a county poor farm in 1911, it's now a favorite destination for its quirky hotel, restaurants, taprooms, spa, and winery. We started with a cozy dinner at the Black Rabbit, then wandered through the gardens. We ended the night in the underground winery, sipping a cold cider while listening to the soulful voice of Jacob Westfall. Not what it used to be. I traveled back home to the Seattle area from Kansas City with my brother and thought, having stayed multiple times before, what better place to end our road trip than the Edgefield. Unfortunately we ran into hiccups with this stay. This is NOT the place to stay if you have more than 1 overnight bag--we were told by the front desk we could park by the side door and unload but then were told we could not by security once we started unloading, so we had to unload from the parking lot. Restaurant food has really gone downhill-bland, and service was mediocre. Cleaning lady was found in my room without a cart before check out and informed me she was "just checking". So bummed about this experience because this place used to be really cool. read more

I love Edgefield. The property is beautiful and its awesome you can walk around and have a drink and see cool different types of art as well. The food however is the big question mark. Especially at the power station, it is literally hit or miss. I've had a pretty Good meal or left hungry and disappointed. Unfortunately my last dining experience was the latter. My burger was way over cooked. Like extra well done. All I tasted was char. The service is pretty attentive and has always been friendly. If the food was more consistently good I would rate much higher. The menu is good its just they need to foycys on quality control. I did come for a concert and the performer did not disappoint but the venue for me is only okay. I don't love how the chairs are set up or that you have to buy rental chairs if you don't pay the premium. At this rate I just wish they would build a permanent venue with seats. read more

Super kind service! I can't see too well, so I didn't notice the difference between an asterisk and the flower emoji on their menu to signify something as vegan until it was on my plate. Nice stay at McMenamins! Not only was it whimsical, relaxing but fun. Spa, had a nightcap, saw a movie with dining all in one location. Especially loved walking around in the terry cloth robes. Service was excellent at the Rabbit and movie theater. Love the theater has an option to enjoy your meal while watching the movie. O McMenamin's, you continue to impress yet disappoint me, confound and bedazzle me. My latest trip to the sprawling Edgefield compound was not for a concert this time, but for a couple day trip to relax in the Columbia River Gorge. It's a great base camp for adventures into the Gorge and so yes, I stayed over in the hotel portion (part of the main lodge building) for the first time ever - but I'll get to that shortly. First let's tackle the Black Rabbit restaurant or rather the bar area of said restaurant where I had breakfast one morning. It's also in the main building and as with all McMenamin's properties, the ambiance here is a total delight, with rustic old architecture paired to interesting, highly creative artwork....I felt like I could sit here for hours. The service, I gotta say, on my visit was 5 stars exceptional: I was left wanting for nothing, even though the staff was clearly slammed on a Friday. True pros, through and through, from the drink orders to the check ins to the serving, it was all spot on. The food, on the other hand, not so much; I had your basic 3 egg scramble with toast and sausage, and the eggs --sad to say -- were hard and flavorless, and the toast, like cardboard. Def not worth the $19, but I tipped well because the service was just so friggin good. And the hotel part? Again, charming artwork in old rustic rooms, but as a place to sleep, it just sucks. The rooms, though fairly decently sized, aren't at all soundproof so you hear everything that happens outside your door and window at all hours, and the bathrooms are communal shared affairs where you have to walk down the hall with a key card every time. Even at 3am. No thanks - especially for the price they charge. That said, the grounds here are delightful and the Rubys soaking pool in the building down the path is super cool. Just temper your expectations, pick your experiences (I.e. stay in a different hotel) and you'll have a good time. read more

Made a special trip from Camas to come get our favorite pizza tots and soda to watch a movie. But unfortunately, they've changed their pizza. It's much smaller and just kind of sad generally... We are very familiar w/t McMenamins concept but first time visiting concert at edgefield w reserved seating. At $ 200 a ticket for a double headliner we were seated in white plastic folding chairs that were VERY uncomfortable. And we were not the only ones complaining about them either. Our room on the first floor had no A/C. they do mention this on the website but the provided fan in the room won't cut it on a not very hot summer's day. Yes you can open the windows but they do not have screens. The temp was so uncomfortable we left the hotel at 01.00 midnight. Bars/restaurants we have always been happy w/t service and food. Our server was great. Naturally on concert days the kitchen backs up a bit.. read more

Stayed overnight and loved it. I did take some other yelp reviews advice and l brought my own pillow as the ones provided are not quite the greatest. Food service takes a while but is worth the wait. The absence of TV's inspired me to turn off the I-phone and enjoy the old school feeling that they cultivate. Awesome grounds, friendly people, and good prices. I will be returning soon! read more
