Three months ago, I decided to go to Madeira Chiropractic due to some pain in my hip. I had never been to a chiropractor before and I was not completely sure what to expect. I assumed that a chiropractor just cracked different parts of your body to alleviate pain. I was definitely wrong. From my very first appointment, I was shown that chiropractic care is so much more. Dr. Kayla took x-rays of my spine and explained exactly what chiropractic care is. She went into detail as to why a properly aligned spine is so important for your overall health and wellness. During my second appointment, Dr. John showed me my x-rays and pointed out the subluxations I have in my spine. He also explained how each subluxation may be affecting me. Then he gave me the treatment plan they were going to take to resolve my issues. It was really cool to look at my x-rays and see where my pain was coming from. After my first adjustment, Dr. John gave me his personal cell phone number so I could call him if I had any questions or concerns. Later that night, I received a phone call from him asking if I was feeling okay after my adjustment. I never expected him to do that. Dr. John and Dr. Kayla definitely go above and beyond which is on par with how everything is done in this office. I agree with the previous comments. Madeira Chiropractic utilizes a high pressure sales tactic. Clinically speaking, they do great work. But the long-term contract mandate can leave one in a sticky situation if they find themselves in a position where they can no longer afford to receive services. Sent my husband there after being referred by a friend. Gave all our insurance information when I scheduled the appointment, but the office neglected to inform us they did not participate in our insurance. After paying cash for the first visit and X-rays they did not provide a receipt or allow us to get the X-rays which we have paid for. Having worked in health care I am well aware that you can not verify benefits until you actually run the insurance, however you certainly know what insurances you accept. read more

I went for two appointments. On the first, I was evaluated thoroughly. I left disappointed no adjustment was done, but came back for the second hoping for some action. After another HOUR of sales pitching chiro, I was taken to speak with a financial consultant and asked to sign a contract for 42 visits, 22 of which weren't covered by insurance costing me $2000 out of pocket. I gave this practice 2 hours of my time, and two separate visits. I was never adjusted, and i I felt like I was given the choice of sign a contract for 12-18 months or nothing. After years of lower back pain and no conventional medical solution, I decided to give Dr John a try, living right down the street from him.Well a month into it and my back is 65% better, i wake up straight in the morning instead of looking like the letter C and am confident i will continue to improve. I am not sure how or why it works, but it works and that is all I care about. Before that I was getting shots in the back for 2k every 4-6 months, so the comparison on pricing is fair. In addition to that the staff is all family and friendly so they create a really nice environment. I started at Madeira Chiropractic about two years ago, looking to ease my back pain. I couldn't sleep at night, couldn't stand for a long period of time, and my back pain was all I could think about. I don't know how people seriously gave this place a bad review. Yes, they are busy at times, but I have never felt less than family. The Dr AND the staff are amazing!! I went in, not knowing much about chiropractic care, but was having frequent and terrible headaches from a car accident. The first visit was on a Thursday for an evaluation and x-rays, but I was able to get in Monday for a consultation with the Dr and have my first adjustment. The Dr and staff spent a lot of time educating me on chiropractic care and made sure I understood everything from my xray results to my treatment plan and what to expect throughout the process. My headaches went away after a few weeks and honestly my back has never felt better. I would recommend Madeira Chiropractic to anyone!!!! read more

I was experiencing ongoing pain in my right lower back for a couple of years before coming to Madeira's. After treatment, I can finally say that the pain in that area has subsided. The office personal were always sweet and I enjoyed how they would greet me by name when I arrived. My work schedule can be very unpredictable at times and the office tried to be as flexible with my appointments as they could which was nice. I also felt that the treatment methods were much nicer in that I did not feel /here an abrupt "crack" or "pop" during an adjustment - but instead only felt the relief over time. All of that being said, the cost and long-term commitment has driven me to another find another chiropractor. If you break it down and actually calculate the cost-per-visit - the price is much higher then comparable offices in the same area. Halfway through the year, my circumstances had changed and affording the care became extremely difficult. The contract made it impossible to defer treatments/payments and most of the time I was unable to make appointments due to their office hours. I am certainly not a physician, but I feel that perhaps costs could be lowered if all of the "extras" were removed. Upon arrival of every visit, the staff take patient's into a small side room to "scan". While I'm sure it has the ability to provide valuable information I can't help but to find the output useless - I was told that it evaluates the temperature/inflammation (both chronic and acute) of the spinal column. In my opinion, the results are more indicative of the temperature outside and less of the inflammatory processes going on in my spine. This was evident on many of the scans and so this became a cumbersome and annoying start to each visit. The fact that they do x-rays is nice, but again, perhaps not necessary for every patient. Additionally, the expectations that were described in contract of when and how these would be completed were not completely upheld and I was disappointed due to their having such a high (and contractual) cost. This could be a great practice, just wish it didn't feel as "money-driven". read more

I only did one appointment at Madeira and it was for the initial evaluation. When I walked in, I was checked in, not a "welcome you're new" kind of greeting. I didn't like the layout of the office - there was a large waiting area right next to two tables for adjusting. It seemed like a cattle call for adjustments - next, adjust, next, adjust - with hardly any privacy for the patients. For me personally, I wanted a place that offered more privacy. The evaluation seemed thorough enough, but I kept getting pushed to bring someone with me to my consultation with Dr. Madeira. The evaluator kept telling me the information would be overwhelming and I would need someone there with me to help understand and sign off on everything. Having worked in sales, I recognized this as a sales tactic to get another patient and didn't like it. The focus should be on my health not getting more patients. I did not get to meet Dr. Madeira at the evaluation so I can't say anything about him. Anyhow, I left unsure about the office and decided to look at another place that had been personally recommended to me by a friend. I met with a that chiropractor and I got to meet him at my evaluation which helped me decide I want to work with him over Dr. Madeira's office. The new chiropractor suggested I get a copy of my X-rays from Dr. Madeira's office so I didn't have to pay for a new set at his office (which I appreciated); however, when I picked them up at Madeira they charged me a $50 "administration fee" for the CD despite the fact that I had already paid for them at the end of my evaluation the week before. So, all I can say is I had one evaluation visit and one X-ray pick up there, both times I just had that "this isn't the place for me feeling" and I definitely got the sense that they really push their sales tactics. I did notice Madeira got good reviews on Google, which is why I initially chose them so perhaps it's a place that would be good for you. read more

A year ago I decided to try Madeira chiropractics, I really did not know what I was walking into but I knew I always wanted to get adjusted. I was having terrible headaches almost everyday, some days they were so bad, I couldn't leave the house, I couldn't drive anywhere because focusing just made the pain worse. It has been almost a year of receiving care, and I can say that my headaches are greatly reduced. And if I do happen to get one, I'm pretty sure it's just because of lack of sleep, but it is no where near as painful as before and it never lasts as long either. I also have only been sick maybe 2-3 times in the last year, before receiving care, I was sick ALOT and when I got sick it would just hang on for weeks and weeks. Last cold I had, lasted only two days instead of hanging around for 2-3 weeks. Madeira Chiropractics have changed my life in many ways, they are so friendly, You walk in and just feel like part of a family, and they always explain everything that is going into your care and you can tell they genuinely care. I've never tried Chiropractic care before, but after a year of lower back pain that was only worsening, and then a leg strain that just didn't seem to heal despite physical therapy, I decided to give it a try. I decided on Madeira Chiropractic care after researching reviews on my health insurance's patient portal -- all very positive. My experience has also been very positive. The entire staff is friendly, respectful, and genuinely caring. More importantly, the quality of care is great! I have a better understanding as to why I am having pain; how chiropractic care can help and IS helping, and have learned additional things I can do to help improve my spinal health, like simple daily exercises. During my first several visits, Dr. John recommended laser therapy to help my leg strain heal faster.....it worked great!
