The ER doctor who examined me (Dr. Basil DeFranco) determined that there was fluid in my abdomen, which was likely caused by a blockage. Even though he admitted that it could be dangerous, I was denied treatment, and told to go to a Primary Care physician, and get a referral to Pocono Gastroenterology. I suspect there are kickbacks involved. They certainly could have drained my abdomen, in order to relieve the discomfort I was feeling. On a previous occasion, several months ago, I was also suffering severe shortness of breath, and elevated heart rate, when I walked, even with my walker. I was admitted, for one day. My nurses all noticed the problems, and came rushing into my room whenever I even stood up. My doctor at the time was a young, arrogant, know-it-all, whose name I don't recall. He was half my age, yet he treated me with utter contempt. I wouldn't subject my dog to this hospital; avoid at all costs.

I had an exceptionally good experience with Quest Diagnostics at this location. I made an…read moreappointment to get a fasting blood draw (for a metabolic panel) for a Wednesday morning at 8 am. I received an email confirmation almost immediately, with a reminder to bring the doctor's order, ID, and insurance card. On the day of the appointment, I arrived at 7:45 (remember your mask!), entered the facility, and checked in at the kiosk -- and then sat in one of the well spaced out chairs. Within 30 seconds, two of us were called back -- to rooms 2 and 3. The phlebotomist, who was both professional and friendly, input all of my necessary information into the computer and then did the blood draw. i was back to my car by 8 am (my original appointment time). Of special note, I have difficult veins and am sometimes subjected to multiple pokes which has created a phobia for me. That was NOT the case this time. She got it on the first try. Also, Quest was able to honor a physician's order from Virginia, which had been denied by another lab. Finally, Quest posted the results of the test on the same day, in the evening. I could not have asked for a better experience. One final note. Quest does take walk-ins at this location. However, priority is given to patients who have appointments.

I went back today and things went great. I didn't have to wait and since my paperwork was already done yesterday, I was in and out pretty quickly. Lilly was very professional and did a great job. I will definitely use this Quest location from now on.
