    Cherry eye 2HRS AFTER SURGERY!

They record your conversations without your consent and when they mess up a surgery, they just want you to let them try it again with a small discounted charge. They don't care about the animal. They just want your money. DO NOT take your animals to this vet for cherry eye surgery! They charged me $1,300 only for the surgery to fail 2 hours later. I was told by other veterinarians that the only reason it would fail that soon was due to improper sutures. Dr. Loweth did not want to take any responsibility for her sutures or her "forgetting" to tell us that she was recording the conversation without our knowledge. She made excuses for everything she did wrong. And then because I was upset that I went into debt for a 2-hour failed surgery, she accused me of bullying and threatening her, which I did not in any way. She emailed me to tell me how disappointed she was in me for being upset. And then she said I should be grateful that she refunded me $195 of her surgical time because she was being nice and didn't have to. His eye looked worse 2hrs after the surgery.

Well you lost a 10 yr customer today. My dog had a abscess surgery here years ago so we need to have his glands done regularly. They will not see my dog, but the other Vet in town will. So I will give them my business since they care about the well being of pets. Another issue is my dog has had allergies for years and we seem to go back every year or two when his allergies get bad. This time he went on 4/13 for treatment cost $600. No follow up just one phone call the day after his appointment, and the lady at the office told me over the phone today they did there part -Now they want another $35 to see him for the same thing when he just needs more medication. BUT they won't do his glands at the same appointment or anything else. What a joke! Get your shit right Madera Animal Hospital YOU just lost a longtime customer. Madera Veterinary Center can have my business now..

    Healed surgery scar

Well, I've been wondering if I should leave a review here since last year's debacle and I've finally got the courage to do it. At first they were great! If you have small issues they're okay but lord... I was ignorant and later I regret ever bringing my cat there. Here's my main issue with this place. They don't inject your pets properly. Updated protocols say that every pet MUST be vaccinated on a limb or something that can be amputated later if the vaccination causes Feline Injection Site Sarcoma FISS (a super rare but effed up cancerous tumor with a high reoccurrence rate). Well guess what happened, my favorite cat who's the sweetest thing in the world got FISS and what's heartbreaking is that they injected her on the side of her chest. Luckily, I caught the tumor early and to be fair, they did her surgery fairly quickly but god... if only they didn't inject her there. After the surgery I would go back repeatedly, I would find new lumps. It was because the surgery scar was so bumpy and horrific I wasn't sure if it was a tumor or part of the scar. On those days I could tell that I was annoying them because I was a nervous wreck about my cat. Though they were sick of me they didn't charge me again so that was nice of them. One terrible thing is, when they let me know what the diagnosis was, they didn't bother to sit with me and explain everything. I had to find a different vet in Fresno (the cat hospital) where the vet did her research, took her time, explained everything to me and patiently listened to my concerns. It's been a year and my cat had a surgery in March at a different vet (it was a lipoma thank god!) and tomorrow she's up for another surgery because I can't tell if the new lump is actually scar tissue or another tumor. This veterinarian center costs me thousands and thousands of dollars, grief, anxiety, and I've cried on multiple occasions because they gave my cat a freaking cancerous tumor on the worst area imaginable. They didn't even bother to contact the vaccine manufacturer to report it because she had multiple shots that day. It kills me that I agreed to vaccinate my cat thinking that I was doing my best to protect her. I check her for bumps almost every day and it breaks me when I find a new one or something that suspiciously feels like one. If you're reading this, please do your research on where your pet should be vaccinated on their body. Make sure the vet knows about it and if your cats are purely indoor, not to get pressured to vaccinate them over and over. Now I don't know if they'll ever read this but I hope they learned from what they did to my cat who is so friendly and kind. Also, I'm writing this in a very emotional state so it's going to be a biased post. Will this post make me feel better? Doubtful. But maybe someone out there will read this and learn from these mistakes. If I prevent another FISS case that would be wonderful.

Once the vet had an opportunity to see my dog, he came out to inform me that she would in fact need the C-section. I asked if that was the best option for her to survive because, at this point, I was most worried about saving her life first. The vet in Chowchilla said yes, C-section was the best option for her,and that he rather just go straight to performing the C-section instead of waiting for naturally delivery due to her weak condition. The vet then asked me to bring Money to pay them upfront before he began the surgery. I quickly returned with the money and left my dog with the belief that the vet was going to perform surgery right away. Nonetheless, the vet did not perform surgery, and I received a call around 7:00pm (3 1/2 hours after dropping c-section money for her surgery ) to notify me that my dog was able to deliver the remaining 2 puppies, naturally, no C-section was needed to be ready to pick her up in 30 mins (8:00pm) that her & puppies were ready to go home. I was so happy, I had my husband pick them up as soon as possible without giving it a second thought, and he brought them home by 8:05pm. We kept a close eye on them at home, & at night every 2 hrs, she passed away... her puppies were struggling to stay alive as well; I did the best I could at home, but unfortunately, we lost them also. Everything was so unfortunate, I was left in a distraught at how such a thing had happened after being told they were perfectly stable to come home. I double checked the discharge papers to see if I had missed something and nothing in there noted after care instructions, if the mother needed any vitamins, or what to do with pre-mature teacup Chihuahua puppies,I called the clinic as soon as I could to get some sort of explanation. The nurse I spoke to stated that my dogs were discharged to me in "stable" condition. Stable condition sending my puppies home knowing they could possibly collapse resulting in dead,I asked why not keep her over night if she was not ok to go home? She 1st said they weren't able to keep no pets over night ( a lie) I know other people who have left dogs there over night .. I told her this, her response was "oh yeah we do but " we can't keep dogs overnight that are in CRITICAL condition". This clearly tells me that they were aware my dogs were not stable enough to go home, but did not advise me to take her back to the ER or provide after care instructions for them at home, other than to keep an eye on her. If they knew she was in critical condition the least they could of done was be truthful & honest with me.. at this point all they had left to say was they were gonna speak to someone about refunding me what I paid. I don't care about that, it's not about the money. I would of paid that and more if needed to ensure my dog was well cared for and delivered to me healthy, along with her puppies. As an owner I did what I had to do to save her ,but to me the vet failed her. I'm disturbed that a veterinary clinic would lack the compassion and common knowledge to ensure that my dog and puppies were 100% stable enough to be discharged, and furthermore, ensure that I, as the owner, was informed of the proper after-care needs of my pets, & also the danger that I was putting her in by taking her home. I'd like to add that after sharing about the loss of my dog and puppies with friends and family, others spoke up about similar experiences - some pets were misdiagnosed, others given too much anesthetic, and others sent home "just fine", take a look at the pictures & tell me those puppies weren't premature

I will no longer give my business to A & L Purr D Paws. My one dog gets a close shave every time but when I brought her home I noticed she had patches of redness on her skin. My dog was in distress because she had a huge irritated red patch on her back and she couldn't scratch it. This has never happened to my dog before so I had no idea why this suddenly appeared on her skin. My other dog had an appointment a few weeks later and when I brought her home she started squinting her eye and wouldn't open it. I thought maybe she had a hair in her eye so I flushed her eye and watched her for a few hours. My dog started showing signs of pain and she was keeping her eye completely shut. I immediately took her to the vet ER and I didn't care that it was midnight by the time I arrived I just knew something was wrong with my dog. The vet took her back to put dye in her eyes to see what he could find and what he found shocked me. He said she had three serious cuts in her eye. A cut that reached behind her eye, one on the front of her eye and a hole in her eye the size of a pea and these injuries started to form ulcers. I told him she was at the groomers earlier and he said that was the answer to my dog's eye injury. He said had I not rushed to the ER my dog could've either lost her eye sight or it could've ruptured causing her to lose her eye. I had contacted Alicia and the next day and told her what had happened and Alicia denied everything. She argued with me over the phone and even argued with my sister. She didn't believe that I took my dog to the Vet ER at midnight and demanded that she call them herself to see if it was true. I told Alicia I would bring her the paperwork proof of me going there, what it showed when her eye was dyed, the photos of my dog, and the amount I spent to help her get all these tests done. Even still Alicia said it's not possible for ulcers to form in that short amount of hours yet she admitted that she's no vet and she wouldn't know but she believes that ulcers cannot form that quick. I again said I would bring the proof to show that it does form that quick. I brought Alicia all of the paperwork from the vet ER and she said she would pay the bills but she's been doing this for 20 years and she has never harmed a dog. She was giving me attitude and being so rude that it honestly shocked me because she's never spoken to me this way. My other dog still had an upcoming appointment with her and I told Alicia I wanted to cancel it and again Alicia was rude about it. Alicia has lost my business permanently and sadly I cannot even imagine what my dogs went through. The vet said with the first cut my dog would've shown a reaction to it so for my dog to have three cuts, he told me he himself cannot even think about what my dog went through. Please do your research about a groomers business before you bring your pets to them and also if you notice the attitude of the owner, please let that say something to you.

We were in an incredibly painful situation, our dog had bitten our daughter in the face twice and needed to be euthanized for her safety. We had adopted him from a shelter, and finding a compassionate, affordable option was not easy. Shelters were at capacity, the SPCA quoted over $500, and other vets were similarly overpriced. We called Northpoint, received a price over the phone, and made the 45-minute drive from out of town, already emotionally drained. What we experienced once we arrived made a devastating day so much worse. First, upon arrival we were informed, for the first time, that we needed to bring paperwork from the shelter where we adopted our dog. No one mentioned this when we called. Staff attempted to contact the shelter themselves, said they couldn't reach them, and then told us they might not be able to help us at all. My husband had to get back in the car, drive to the shelter to retrieve immunization records, and return, adding significant time and stress to an already traumatic experience. Second, when we were finally seen, they quoted us a higher price than what we were given over the phone. They also attempted to add an urgent care fee, claiming we had been given an urgent appointment, which was not true. My husband had to push back just to get them to reconsider. When he mentioned the original price we were quoted by phone, staff told him there was nothing they could do. We were grieving. We were exhausted. We had already driven nearly an hour and a half round trip for paperwork. And Northpoint chose that moment to add surprise fees and dismiss our concerns entirely. It felt like they knew we had no other options and used that against us. I wouldn't wish this experience on any family already going through the pain of losing a pet. If you're in a similar situation, I'd encourage you to get everything, pricing and requirements, in writing before you make the trip.
