What a neat shop over in New Albany! I went to meet a girlfriend for lunch one day and decided to do some shopping while there. I saw this cute store there and stepped inside. There were many nice baubles and plants and fun stuff. They also have handbags and jewelry. I ended up buying two metal feathers because I thought they were cool and I think I got a candle there too. (sorry - shopped a lot lately and can't remember for sure!). They had cool glasses with snarky puns etched onto them. I may have to go back for some of those when my girlfriend gets into town. They would suit her. Definitely a place to check out!

Madhouse is a lovely shop in the heart of Downtown New Albany! For decor, it is pretty moderately priced. We bought botanical prints for about $50 each that came in beautiful, rustic frames. Not Home Goods pricing, but significantly less expensive than Arhaus or Z Gallerie. If you're decorating a room, be sure to stop in! You are bound to love something. While we were in, we asked for the worker's opinion. She happened to be the owner. Amanda was helpful as ever! She was helping us arrange things to get the perfect eye on what we were buying and was even digging for things out of her storage to help create the look we wanted. She was awesome! While their website is not functioning, they seem to update their Facebook and Instagram frequently. Tons of cool photos on there!

As I'm sipping my delicious wine, I find that my mind is drawn to one important thought: This Ollie's Bargain Outlet that I visited in Clarksville two months ago would have been greatly improved if they sold wine. Ollie's doesn't sell wine (or any alcohol, for that matter). Too bad! But if you're in the market for discounted boxes of Hungry Jack mashed potatoes, bird feeders, comforter sets, off-brand slider storage bags, water guns and neoprene gloves, Ollie's is your store. There's a lot of stuff everywhere, and honestly, it's a little overwhelming. Ollie's takes a page from the Aldi playbook: There are just ripped open boxes of items on the shelves. To heck with aesthetics -- Ollie's is too busy saving you money to fiddle around with arranging items on a shelf nicely. I stopped in to get some lotion, and wouldn't you know, I could only find one bottle of lotion in the whole store. It wasn't a brand that I would have normally bought, but you can't be picky at Ollie's. You get what you get or you can get the eff out. Visiting Ollie's is like participating in a treasure hunt. You don't know what you'll find, or if you'll find anything at all. But it's worth a shot to stop in and try.

I don't even know what. Anyway imagine my surprise when I saw this shop and was like heyyyyy lol. I had to go in as they ventured on. So literally stumbled upon this store without looking for it. In addition to getting points for a curating variety of clothing, accessories, home and children's items they also earn some for making online ordering and pick up COVID-safe. And for having affordable items and awesome sales (IG: @dressanddwell) The clothing options cover all sizes and styles from outerwear to shape wear, everyday to more fancy - and there are some great sale items. Their accessories are perfect for stocking stuffers. They range from jewelry to gloves/hats to seasonal mugs/wine glasses and office flair. The city prints are very thoughtful gifts as well. Their quirky and modern greeting card selection features unique ways to finish off the present (their bags/tissue paper is typically all I need for a present!). The children's area has the requisite adorable clothes but also some fantastic holiday books and advent calendars. They have great books that combo with corresponding stuffed animals that make great gifts year round. They have displays dedicated to engagement/weddings and birthdays to really make any celebration an extra special event! As always, I couldn't keep from buying a new seasonal beverage container (they feature swig).

This is the first outlet in Louisville and was originally announced as a temporary location; however, it must be doing well enough to have stayed in place. It took over the space vacated by the now bankrupt Steinmart. There is nothing fancy about this spot. It very much feels like a dumping site for furniture and is organized by type/room. It is a land of rejected, broken pieces. The signage attempts to excite you - 50% off or more - but then you flip the tag to find out it is still outrageously overpriced on top of being broken. The facility is large, and most workers were either at the front desk or helping people wedge items into their trucks. I appreciated watching the quiet nature of the staff today as a customer carried on a conversation with the customer service team via her cell phone. She was a lot to handle and you could tell they didn't want to escalate the situation. Apparently this spot has a following. Bring a large pocketbook ... and duct tape.

I didn't catch the cat's name when I was there, but Vintage Shop Kitty is super friendly and seemed to be receptive to pets. Besides cats, this place also has some really cool clothes -- all of them old, and all of them carefully curated and thoughtfully chosen. I can tell when a vintage clothing store has done its due diligence when I flip through the racks and I want to buy more than a few things. I was THIS close to buying a Western pearl snap shirt, but really: how many pearl snap shirts does a girl need? Regretfully, I put the shirt back on the rack. Hopefully, some other savvy person snapped it up. The Odd Shop has a lot of clothing, but it has just as much vintage toys, records, ephemera and trinkets for sale. Walking into the store is like walking into your (or probably my) childhood, because there are so many things from the 1980s and 90s for sale. So many Smurfs dolls! Mickey Mouse roller skates! Easy-Bake Ovens! It's a blast from the past here.

At first I was confused on the items being for sale versus the store's personal collection but began to notice price tags on many items. It's a small space to share with shoppers and the worker so no issue to be taken care of if you have questions on an item. Many items are in "as is" condition, or maybe better described as well loved. If you're a collector, this might be a spot for you. I found it a bit crowded and overwhelming so a quick glance through was enough. (I would not recommend bringing small kids to this shop) Easy to find street parking. Also, if you love cats, there are two here to greet you.

Lots of things appear to be used or cheap, Temu level. We asked for antique posters, we got a print that we found online for 1/10 of the price. He also dumped the boxes in our basement, and we never heard back from him. If we are paying for his hours, I would expect service, including someone coming and unpacking and he doing the adjustments, etc. After a few months, I decided to unpack, that's when we found out about the poster and also that some items were missing. We then emailed him, and he looked very responsive saying he would do the adjustments but never did. Months and months just pretending. Enormous emails basically saying he was feeding poor children and awkward unrelated comments. He even insinuated we were having money problems since we wanted our money back. I order things from people I don't know all the time and when there is a problem, those people are usually helpful. I was not expecting this from a person that I have known for over 10 years. Now, I believe his friendship is only for his benefit and it is not real. Be aware of all the fairy tales of how he says he is, of how he has good heart, how he treats his clients and how they treat him. For me it was not only a money pit but also a personal disappointment. It sucks but that is how life is. btw, I still don't have my money back after 7 months of emails.
