Unorthodox is a oddities and clothing shop located on a Popular row of shops and bars off Barret Ave in Lousiville, Kentucky. I went shopping a few weeks back with my 5 girls and some friends when we stopped into this shop. The items here are very unique, strange, and can be very pricey. Everything from petrified bugs, old dilapidated baby dolls, animal skulls and just some edgy horror themed ear rings can be purchased here. Smaller shop that for my liking is more window shopping. I'm not interested in spending a couple hundred for a cow skull. But my daughter did find some earrings for a band she liked so we was able to do more than just window shop this time. Overall a cool place to browse and a very different shopping experience than most places can offer you.

And I had found that it once again expanded even more within the giant warehouse it occupies. It is quite easy to get lost in the maze of booths, but you're guaranteed a lot to look at along the way. Fleur de Flea is as much of an experience as it is a shopping spot. There are several midcentury modern furniture booths, as well as others selling all manner of art, jewelry, books, clothes, records, plants and more. On my most recent visit, I came away with a book of the script of a show I really love and a fun T-shirt. Fleur de Flea also sells cocktails and other drinks if you'd like to sip while you shop, and it's very pet friendly. You're likely to see a pup shopping alongside its owner, and Fleur de Flea's resident doggo can be found sitting on the counter by the cash registers. This is a spot that is becoming uniquely Louisville for me. I love it so!

Spending an hour here (preferably on the weekend with a cocktail) is one of my favorite shopping adventures! Great staff and they know their stuff! If you're looking for something specific, they can probably find it for you! Value is set by vendors - I've found steals on furnitures and clothes, but passed over some crazy high prices as well. All part of the adventure!

Having a love of cooking and displaying your food also creates a fondness as that's what their product is all about. I'm not really their target customer and the price point is overwhelming. However, I notice their paint your own pottery room and I would consider returning for that purpose. For $35 you can select your item - cup, plate, or plaque - and use their paint to design your vision. On the wall each color is displayed for 1, 2, or 3 coats. The store is quite large and its register is in the back of the store. The clerk was helpful to answer our questions about painting. Connected to The Cafe and across the street from the Village Market, a visit here can be coupled with brunch/lunch.

We decided painting pottery at Louisville Stoneware sounded fun. You get to pick a pottery piece off the rack, there was limited pottery availability due to the holiday holidays, but that didn't stop us! I chose a 9 inch plate and my friend picked a door hanger. The plate was $30 and door hanger $35. We were impressed by the selection of stamps and stencils. Everything we needed was avaliable to us. They had plenty of colors and paintbrushes. I can't wait to pick up our finished pieces. Tip, decide on a plan before arriving so you don't spend 45 mins like I did on Pinterest searching for ideas.

Nitty Gritty was by far the most thoughtfully curated of the stores we went to - but also the most expensive. As we perused the men's section upstairs, we noticed that several items were well above the budget we had set in place. That being said, the quality of nearly all of the items was above average. This is a true vintage store - not one where you will find used clothes bought from Target four years ago (not that there is anything wrong with that either). After about half an hour, he settled on a pair of $30 snowboarding pants that normally sells, from what our internet search revealed, for well over $150, so even though there was some initial sticker shock, the pants were well worth it. He also procured a very vintage sweater vest for $12 which he is insistent he will pair somehow with the pants - I'm looking forward to seeing this outfit. At any rate, I highly recommend this store for the true vintage connoisseur - someone who is looking for well made, lasting pieces and is willing to pay the higher prices for quality. This store has been around for ages and now I understand why: it is a walk back into time. The staff is friendly and helpful, too, which is always a plus, and parking was not an issue, though I had worried it might be.

I went shopping a few weeks back with my 5 girls and some friends when we stopped into this shop. The building walking in will Give you big time nostalgia vibes. Lots of oldest clothing styles and vintage items to browse in this two level shop. The men's department is upstairs and the costume rental area is in the very rear. When back there be sure to look in the rafters for some old school child terrorizing animal mascot heads that are fun to check out. On our trip here my oldest found a 50s retro looking swim suit that she fell in love with. It was reasonably priced so we made the purchase. Overall a pretty cool shop that was fun to browse and brought a blast from the past feeling for me personally. Only strange thing was there was rack with an old uofl mascot hoodie my second oldest wanted but it wasn't priced yet so they simply said "not for sale".
