We had to instruct them to do simple things like: take her hearing aids out st bedtime, take her temp if you see her coughing, call the doc if she has edema, and change her sheets if she has an accident - none of these things were being done. We also found scatches on her arms which weren't being treated. I could go on. Staff appear to not have experience in a memory care facility. We found staff staring at their personal phones everytime we were there. The turnover among staff and managers is unbelievable. Maybe this is just the typical standard of care for this corp. She has been in another facility for 6+ months and the difference is night and day. Observing the staff in the new facility has shown us that Monsrk Grove is not just poorly run, but likely on their way to be investigated by the state.

We felt good about Tommy Anderson during his home visit and signed a contract to begin care on Monday, November 10, 2025. During our home visit with Tommy, it was emphasized several times about their extensive background checks of their caregivers and the contract even went further to say that they evaluated caregivers in other ways, such as psychological testing. The very first night, a caregiver came into our home, whom we liked immediately, but we discovered that she stole four diamond rings from my mother and my father's University of Alabama A club ring. We filed a police report and after 48 hours of me pleading and appealing to this caregiver, she returned the rings to me at my home. When we discovered that the rings were missing, we immediately did a simple Google search and found two mug shots of this caregiver and the police told us she had ten or more prior arrests, and that this company had dropped the ball. She had arrests as far back as 2021 until recent. I was told by Tommy and another employee that they did not understand why those did not show up on their background check. What an insult to my intelligence. Please beware of Home Care Assistance, because they obviously did not vet this employee at all.

We went to the back dining room which was clean and spacious and wanted to sit on the screened in porch overlooking the neighboring barns with goats and a horse or two. Like all memory care facilities everything is locked and we couldn't get anyone to let us out on the screened in porch. We didn't try very hard though. There were no activities going on on this Sunday afternoon. Dear friends nails were painted and it looked professional! That's a nice touch! Every inch of the facility is spotless even the gender neutral restrooms. The staff still don't wear uniforms or name tags and there is no sign in sheet at the lobby. The adjacent barn/farm area has what I thought would be a lake and it isn't. This is a nice memory care ladies only facility in Madison!

My father, who has dementia, needed pre-op care for three days and the caregivers were fantastic with him. Home Instead was able to find a caregiver on relatively short notice to stay with my dad overnight in the hospital. When his original scheduled sitter became ill at the last min, management i.e.Sarah, stepped right in to cover a few days till another "regular" sitter could be scheduled. He has had Amber coming about 4 weeks and really likes her. My father is eccentric, set in his way as any 85 yo is and not very sociable, so this is saying alot. I do not have a doubt in the world, that should Amber need to miss a day for some reason, Linda & Sarah will be right on top of things. Great peace of mind. The best communication team ever.
