Pretty on the outside - negligent on the inside…read more My mother was in the Monark Grove memory care facility from July to Nov 2023 - until we had to take her out. We had to instruct them to do simple things like: take her hearing aids out st bedtime, take her temp if you see her coughing, call the doc if she has edema, and change her sheets if she has an accident - none of these things were being done. We also found scatches on her arms which weren't being treated. I could go on. Staff appear to not have experience in a memory care facility. We found staff staring at their personal phones everytime we were there. The turnover among staff and managers is unbelievable. Maybe this is just the typical standard of care for this corp. She has been in another facility for 6+ months and the difference is night and day. Observing the staff in the new facility has shown us that Monsrk Grove is not just poorly run, but likely on their way to be investigated by the state.

We tried to go visit the facility and a security gate at the entrance kept us from going further than the gate. The security guard took my name and number and I received a call from an official. Previously I had gotten thru and put my dad on a waiting list in September. He no longer needs their care so I asked that he be removed. There are no vacancies and there are no anticipated vacancies they know of. Patients currently living there who have family members needing care will help their family members get housing first. If no patient family members require one of the vacancies when they open, then the next name on the public waiting list is called. The lady I spoke with told me in the 14 months she had been an employee there wasn't a vacancy filled by a person on the waiting list. We will keep searching. They get 4 stars for their security and the fact that someone called me after I spoke with the security guard.

Regency is a heartless business that doesn't care about their residents at all, only money. People go to these facilities to have a peaceful, comfortable, safe, and secure end of life home. To uproot them with only a 30-day notice is cruel, but to uproot approximately 28 residents simultaneously, well that is more than the city and surrounding areas has the ability to take in elsewhere, and that's plain unethical. This was a nice place for us to live, but heartless and unethical actions like this to the community do not deserve any rewards.

The Main Director has been out of the office sick leave since December so there is no one to complain to and the Headquarters Regional director never gets back to me with a solution. I asked about 10 people in the dining room and they all said the food was terrible. I only witnessed about about 12 to 15 people who eat in the dining room at any given meal. At breakfast they were out of toast for several days. The only think really that tasted good on the menu was the hamburgers and one day the soup was good. The grilled cheese looked like plastic and 1/2 was missing cheese! If you want to know what this place is like, i suggest make a surprise visit to the dining room and ask several of the people who live there. several of the waiters and waitresses are extremely friendly and some of them are extremely rude. the front desk lady is not friendly at all. The head of activities Laloni is extremely nice and compassionate and caring, she even came to visit my mother in the hospital. None of the managment at Vitality even checked on my mother while she was in the hospital for 3 months and they all had my number and knew she was in the hospital. While i was visiting for 9 days , no one came to clean the room. I spoke with houskeeping and they did come clean the next week but that was the first time they really cleaned, and my mother was paying someone to come clean her room which is unacceptable since she is paying vitality for that included service,. April 24th Vitality managment finally came to my mothers door to apologize for the bad overall service.

His daughter told nurses that she was leaving and would be right back. She came back shortley. Her father was on the floor lying there and couldn't get up. The bed was elevated. No pads were on the floor. The staff handed her 2 pamphlets for 24 X7 care to hire. I asked how soon we could be discharged they said 7 days. I believe you could push for sooner or don't go I called all the way up to director and no one answered their phone. I called from director down to nurse again. No one answered. Called again and each time left messages, explained that my husband had a brain injury and could not risk a fall. Asked that he be discharged since my husband was not safe there. Took a long time for him to get from ER back to Regency. I think Pt is really good. Got around the clock care until I could get him released. I do not recommend nor would I have someone here without 24x7 care to take care of your family. Take them home instead and hire the services needed.

Sweet 89 year old Momma has been in this rehab approximately a month and it has been a disaster from my [her youngest daughter's] perspective. Outright snubbing their collective nose at state laws/regulations, this facility did not provide my Mom with an insulated water bottle until about the 8th day she was there. Sooooo, I visited Mom and guess what? This loser facility had placed deodorant and body lotion on Mom's hospital-style rolling table right in front of her as she sat in a wheelchair along with a small styrofoam cup/straw. Before my eyes, my sweet, dementia-suffering Momma, poured body lotion into the cup and commenced to try and drink it [!!!!!]. First off, these items are supposed to be under lock and key. Her Memory Care facility keeps anything that can be improperly ingested in a locked drawer until the staff unlocks it for her use under proper supervision. Anyway, I grabbed the styro cup and body lotion and ran in the hallway to get help -- the only scrub wearing person nearby, to whom I explained what was going on said "uh, I've never seen that before!" HOW in the world does that help the situation? I was so furious, I could hardly contain myself. I've walked into Mom's room where she was splayed out on the bed nearly falling out of the bed, with a dirty depends on - my brother experienced the same thing. The rooms are generally filthy, the staff drops off trays of breakfast, lunch and dinner and does not bother to cut, for example a large fried chicken breast, into bite sized pieces for an arthritic elderly person such as my Mom who cannot cut up her food. Said uneaten food just stacks up on trays atop chest of drawers or the soiled garment container in restroom. Full milk cartons (think elementary school), waters, Shata colas and eggs, bacon, butter packets, biscuits, you name it...slop everywhere. Long story short, I called the ombudsman with my 8 complaint points, and although she was very responsive and empathetic, all her office can do is mandate the facility create a Corrective Action Plan, and even this [IMHO slightly punitive action] has to be initiated by Mom's Power of Attorney, in this instance my brother. They have a nice courtyard, it's big, with begonias and roses and a small-ish pavilion with nice furniture and a ceiling fan. Sounds nice, right? Guess what - residents and guests are not allowed to use it. Rationale: the keypad access is broken. [[[Uh, last time I checked there are professional people who fix stuff like that, and isn't this a fire code violation/issue??] So, as a workaround, I was able to locate a giant/awkward 02 tank for sweet Mom and awkwardly wheel her around all the numerous corridors to sit out under the covered awning out front of the building - Mom in her wheelchair and me sitting cross-legged on the concrete, and in 100+ degree weather. Mom enjoyed looking at the cars coming and going and "greeting" the visitors on the 4th of July holiday for about an hour. STILL: unacceptable - the courtyard is 2 doors from her room and should be accessible to all at all times! Thank the Lord brother moved Mom next door to Skilled Care at Regency Main. I'll comment on that facility when I visit Momma Sunday. TL/DR: DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY.

From Mary Overton, the facility admissions director to everyone from the aides, CNAs, nurses, and maintenance we were very satisfied with her care. She was treated with love and dignity in her last days.

Madison Manor is an old, small, nondescript one-story brick building you would drive right past…read morewithout noticing. Even the lot is small. There is none of the external (and internal) "flare" of other senior care facilities such as Redstone Village (or even the place I would *never* recommend, Regency) like putting greens, raised herb gardens, floral gardens, water features, extensive walking paths, ice cream parlors, swimming pools, libraries, etc. It may have a library, I did not explore the entire interior. It's about 3 blocks north of Highway 20 on Sullivan in Madison. It's an 80-bed Medicare/Medicaid skilled care and rehab facility. My best friend and sorority sister's sweet Daddy has been here for about 2 weeks and I have visited him twice. He is in a semi-private room sharing it with another man, and they can have the curtain pulled between them for a little privacy. The rooms are small. Each resident gets a hospital bed, a microscopic wardrobe, a guest chair, a wall-mounted TV [there may be one TV per room], and a bedside table. Logistics are not bad! You ring the front doorbell, and someone lets you in almost immediately, there are no long waits like I experienced at Merrill Gardens while being absolutely loaded down with supplies for Mom. You enter the open lobby area [again, very small; however it and the facility are tidy] and are greeted by the friendliest staff on the planet. There's a tiny [size of an old school calculator] check in device where you key in your name, phone number, answer personal health related questions, the name of the person you are visiting, your relationship, and it takes your temperature and prints out a name tag. Although, it feels like the 70s inside, each person I interacted with was smiling, friendly, kind, and helpful! The staff checked in on my BF's Dad while I was there and tidied up his half room. We met one of the physical therapists and she was very attentive and engaged, offering to coordinate a special need my BF had for her Father, with the nurse. The residents were discussing a Veteran's Day visit a group had organized during which they visited, and gifted the Veteran's with a ball cap and a bag loaded up with goodies like moon pies, Cheetos, and snack crackers. This visit was quite the "buzz" of discussion and made me happy! One of his lunches was typical southern food: fried fish, turnip greens, coleslaw and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. BF said the meals taste really good. I can attest the meals do smell good! Do consider Madison Manor if you need their services. Sadly, skilled care in Madison County is suffering a serious shortage in terms of availability and open beds. Don't expect to be "wowed" by the building itself. Do know you can tailor your loved one's room [or semi-private room] with wall decor, personal photos, calendars, etc. The pictures uploaded here do not reflect the room my BF's dad is in or the exterior. Rather than the somewhat inviting single-bedroom photo here on Yelp, the semi-private rooms are more like 40-year-old hospital rooms. Also, there are no exterior seating areas at MM.
