If you're a parent looking for a fun, welcoming place to take your kids--avoid Madison Bowling Center. We visited Madison Bowling Center on June 9, 2025, and I'm honestly still frustrated. My neighbor and I brought our 6 kids hoping for a fun afternoon. Keep in mind, this establishment advertises "Kids Bowl Free" in the summer, but this place turned out to be anything but family-friendly. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed annoyed that we were even there. No greeting, no smiles--just unwelcoming and frankly rude attitudes. Our initial check-in process was less than pleasant thanks to the clerk at the register whom never greeted us, and truly lacked in customer service altogether. Simple requests for different shoe sizes seemed like we had all but ruined her day. When our lane malfunctioned (more than once), it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to help, and when someone finally did, they acted like we were bothering them. They showed no patience, empathy or understanding for children who were clearly just trying to have a good time. They prioritized their league participants as soon as they came in. In doing so, they actually turned our lane off, and cut off the screens mid bowl before our game was even over. The excuse was "our league players like things a certain way". In other words, they want the kids kicked out. This was actually at 4:45pm- 45 minutes before their advertised Kids Bowl Free ending time which is 5:30pm. It's obvious this establishment doesn't want to cater to families or younger bowlers. Quite a shame since we spent over $200 dollars in shoes, socks, food and drinks- there was zero effort to create a positive experience. I left feeling like we'd wasted our time and money. To top it off, just before we left we caught a few of the workers behind the counter huddled together gossiping about our group. Imagine how unprofessional you'd have to be to openly gossip about a couple of moms and their 6 children while we were still in the vicinity? Whether their intention was ill or not, it was a clear display of poor management, while also being highly inappropriate. Needless to say, we won't be back. Madison bowling center is a fun place for a date or family afternoon. The bowling alley is clean and the team at the desk is friendly. The concession stand is what you'd expect for a bowling alley, not saying that's bad, just saying it's what you'd expect. The lanes each have a iPad type panel that you use to put the player names and start the games. It's a little bit tricky if you're brand new to it, but doesn't take long to figure it out. Also, the lanes are not as greasy as some other bowling alleys, so you won't have to wipe your hands as often. Go check these guys out if you're in town! read more

Great place to bowl. I've been going here since I was a kid. I am now taking my family here to bowl. They have kids bowl free during the summer, which is fantastic. Our school's team came here for a bowling tournament and they were just rude! We couldn't have any outside drinks, even water. The lady at grill counter wouldn't even let 2 of our bowlers order food! I hope we don't come here again because I don't want to spend another dime in a business that treats people so poorly. I'll surely never bring my kids here for family fun! I don't know how Bowl Madison will continue to thrive if today is any indication of how you run your business. Be kind!! It's not that hard! read more

Me and my sister in law took our 4 kids for their first bowling experience. First the guy at the counter was NOT friendly at all. Then my autistic toddler tried to run into the lane but I caught her(she was maybe 2 feet into the lane) and the guy from the desk came over and YELLED at us and told us we need to learn how to control our kids (AFTER apologizing and explaining that she is autistic and runs away at times). We then tried to calm the kids down with snacks from the concession stand and they guy there was also rude. I asked for two popcorns and some nachos and he said "is there popcorn in there?" Like I was supposed to know the machine is broke. This IS NOT the family friendly place we thought it once was. We ended up giving our lane away because we were so disappointed. Gosh we all love this bowling alley and the people who work there.. Never had problems

We had our little girls birthday party there yesterday. I'll admit it was a last resort, but to our overwhelming surprise, it was the perfect fit! The kids all loved it, the staff was very nice and accommodating. The food was prompt and very good. The area was clean, customers friendly and the music was just right... We were so pleased with our experience that we will be returning as a family periodically to bowl just for fun. worst bowling alley we have ever been to! we were put on lane 19, there were cracks in the front of the lane, almost every ball we tried using was off balance and wobbled down the lane! we paid $47 for one hour, during our second game something went wrong and our lane was out of sync. I went to the counter to explain what was happening, they left our time running while I was explaining, we finally got the issue resolved by then our time ran out. instead of them offering to let us finish our last two frames they wanted to charge me an additional $5.80 for 10 minute! this place was a complete rip off! the lanes are crap and so is the customer service! definitely will never waste another penny on this place! read more

This place needs major improvements. I went bowling here tonight with some friends and we had many problems while bowling. Our balls got stuck, the technology seemed to be run by Windows 95, and the pins messed up the first 5 frames. Now about everything else...2 of the 3 vending machines are out of order, same for 2 of the arcade games. The only new things added in the last 5 years are the TVs (the old ones were at least 15 years old), and one new arcade game (some spin the wheel game idk lol). This place needs to be renovated. read more

Need to get some updated comment! My brother and I wen bowling last Saturday 9/12 and this place was awesome. We paid for the 1 hour and almost completed 3 games. Next time will pay by the game just to ensure we can finish. Not much difference in price. We loved the place and will return many more times. For all the old negative reviews I think you should return and give them another try. read more

The lanes and equipment worked well but the place looks run down and is dirty. The older blonde lady behind the counter would not make eye contact and even threw my credit card at me on the counter rather than handing it to me. Drink service on the bowling side was very slow and there was no service in the bar. I sat at the bar waiting while 3 ladies sat at the bar and talked about how awful the bar side was. I got up to leave when one of the ladies asked if she could help me. I thought they were customers not employees just ignoring me. selection of different ball weights is limited and when I asked for help I was told they don't know anything about the balls. It's like stepping back in time, way back. I doubt this place has been updated in decades. They do have computerized scoring but it looks like it was implemented in the PC-DOS era. The lane seats for the bowlers are just stackable banquet chairs. I was a little irritated that they turned the lanes off when the hour was up on a child's birthday party when the kids hadn't even made it through past the 6th or 7th frame. This place is awful. I had my daughter's 8tj birthday party here and they were far from accommodating. They didn't have enough pizza, and we had to go to Dominos to order pizza and then take it to their kitchen so we could put it on their cardboard. The one pizza they did have was burned and had to have 1/3 cut off. The staff is extremely rude and acted as if we were bothering them. A 2 hour party only has 1 hour of bowling then they shut the lanes off. We bought an additional hour. Also, there were 2 empty lanes they wouldn't let us rent in case one of the leagues practicing wanted to use them (they sat unused for 2 hours). I will never book a party here again. read more

Apparently, one of the employees, behaves very distastefully towards black customers. A black man went there tonight around 730 & received extremely poor customer service while the remainder of the group he was with were treated with respect. read more

I actually downloaded YELP just so I can warn others about this establishment. My family was visiting from Michigan and I decided to take them here over our bowling alley in Decatur because it showed on the site that they had pool tables and my 18yr old nephew wanted to play pool as well as bowl. The pool tables are actually in the adult lounge which was not clarified on the site. We went in there anyways because the lady who was making drinks said he was old enough, then another staff member stopped us and told us it was 21 yrs and older.. then I asked the lady at the front and she had no idea about the age requirements. Everyone seemed like they had no idea. And you want to talk about RUDE employees.. everyone who was working that night acted like they didn't want to be there, wasn't just towards us but everyone-as I watched and listened for people as they approach the counter. Very messy. Two tables in the arcade had old food all over it and you couldn't even sit down. This stayed this way until we left, no one was at the table the whole time. Most of the arcade games didn't work. And by most I mean all but two. Not enough bowling balls in the place for everyone. It wasn't even full capacity after the league players left, and there were about 5 balls left that were pink. We had trouble with our lane the first three frames, asking for help and never receiving it, we had to reset our game in the middle of it twice. When you pay by the hour, this is a hassle. Over all, I feel like this place doesn't deserve not even one star. It was a snowball of events that made the whole night miserable for everyone. There was 8 of us, and everyone had some kind of bad treatment/experience. I didn't even want to give them the $80 it cost for us to play. I am a very easy going person who works with the public daily, I understand that sometimes a business might have an "off" day, but this experience made me feel like this was the normal atmosphere of the place. Will never go back. And I encourage all of those around the area, to just drive a few extra miles for Decatur or Huntsville. The Madison Bowling Center is in the process of cleaning up the center and they now have a new oiling machine. I'm sure that more changes will be made. I'm looking forward to having a good season in this fall and winter. We need to have more bowlers in the leagues, especially the Tuesday Morning Ladies league! read more
