I had no choice but give 1 star or I wouldn't have nothing…read more.. Stay away from this campground in mayo fl . It was sold and bought by 2 new owners who are absolutely crazy. Aug 15th the camp host hit our camper with a piece of wood , he did not pick up and it busted hole in our outdoor kitchen door. The week b4 he hit our camper on the bottom piece of outdoor kitchen area, admitted to me he knew he hit it and was sorry. I asked to stay away from our camper, not mow so close he agreed . Aug 16th the woman owner Vikki showed up to the campground and automatically started getting mad, telling me to sue her right off the bat as they would not pay to have the door replaced or fixed by a professional. They wanted the man who hit the camper to come fix it with epoxy only, even tho he is a complete pot head who can't even mow correctly , but yet he was all they would allow to fix it. The 2nd owner Vikki husband John came over after maybe 20 minutes of sitting in the camp host camper,could barely walk over to my camper(he seemed drunk or high)once he knocked I tried to go out , but he was right on the bottom step and wouldn't even let me out of my own home without having to slid around him. Then asked very aggressively "wheres this hole" sounded drunk or high and got extremely aggressive towards me once I showed him the hole and told him what happened. At which point he told me I was lying and there was no way the camp host did that hole, he told me he never gets close to these campers to even hit them, so there's no way he did that. The camp host lied tp the new owners to save his own free ride he gets for barely mowing the proppety .Well then I asked him who mows your campground sir? That was the wrong question it made him madder and more aggressive, to the point my husband and son actually came outside to tell them to just leave. I told the owner women Vikki I would get quotes and send them to her and once I told John the other owner I done told her I would get quotes , then she showed back up after going sitting in the camp host camper for about 10 mins, and started telling my husband "yeah go back inside and run with your tail between your legs". Neither myself nor my husband got upset talked out of the way to these crazy people and never raised our voices, but yet they were extremely aggressive and rude and yelled at each other. It is Aug 28th I have sent multiple texts to both Vikki and John asking what they are going to do about fixing our camper, sent the quotes to them to fix it and nothing. They have read every text I haven't sent, but will not respond at all. We have been coming to this campground for 5 years,2 months in the summer and 2-3 months in the winter, but we will absolutely never come back. I even told the new owners how loyal we were to this campground as we really liked the old owner and the camp host until this situation where he lied to save himself and how crazy they acted. She didn't care and told me we were all just here running our acs full blast and didn't care about her light bill or her taxes . She was going to just raise the rates, as she bought a money pit and after paying her taxes and light bill she wouldn't make any money, well ma'am that was your fault for not doing your research on the area . So beware and stay away, this is not the same laid back , old owner paying for the camp host mess up like he used to do campground anymore.

Hidden Oaks is great for Fifth wheels and med-large hitch pulls, but not super well set up for big rigs, but if you don't have a tow, it's pretty easy to get to most of the sites. The owners Jean and Troney live very closeby, and the Hospitality is off the chain. So helpful, friendly, accommodating.... this little treasure is new and is definitely their Baby. You're in for a lovely treat. No bathhouse, but full service at most sites. Some only have 30 amp, but most have 30/50 plus sewer hook-up and water.

But, for those few budding philosophers in the Good Will Hunting Department or those with Big Lebowski Overachiever tendencies looking for meaning behind the veil of humanity, or a deeper understanding to the mysteries of life, well, gather ye "Rosebuds" and rendezvous with me on Florida's Suwannee River, and give them a Citizen Kane send off. Back Story. (Way Back!) Parmenides and Heraclitus were finalists in the Pre-Socratic American Idol, (Greek version) that ended in a draw, and possibly the first time the sentence "agree to disagree," was ever used. Heraclitus sang that a man can never dip his toe into the same river, twice. His Rosebud was a flower that bloomed in a garden of change, where that garden was the only constant, as time changes that toe dipped into the river (and all accessory/accoutrement attached to said toe) especially after stepping on a wet "Lebowski" carpet, while being baptized in the river of the Coen Brothers. Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? I'm mixing movie metaphor again, please forgive me. Parmenides sang the opposite tune: "All reality is one, change is impossible. Permanence is the only constant." He added a snarky Billie Eilish: "Duh!" to the chorus. The future Greeks would call this draw an "Aporia." Something humans cannot know. Like bats in Plato's cave contemplating the astrophysics behind GZK limits. (For 3 people in the world that last line will be incredibly witty and multi-versed in funny.) As you can see Parmenides thought little of humans and their free will. I thought the same "little," until I visited the Suwannee River Rendezvous and felt the paradox of a "permanent transience." Within that paradox a clear winner emerges from the first Greek Idol. A paradox that must first be defined. The paradox is feeling tethered to a sense of home in a world where open-road adventure and exploration is just as important. I've noticed those intrepid adventurers that take the time to RV throughout our great country are usually the same type of adventurous folk that look within and find their peace of mind out side of the ego. And there it was. The Suwannee River Rendezvous was the Mecca of ego free. That kind of an environment changes you. The Transcendalists fishing on Walden Pond believed we are here to enjoy an original relationship with the universe. I can't think of a better environment to enjoy that relationship, than this ego free zone. You'll know when you feel the same paradox. It's the day you have to leave. Your next river and toe will find a changed you. Especially for those philosophers who are lost in the mind of paradox, to find a cognitive space needed for a holy communion with nature, to recognize it as the answer to it all. Including paradox. We learn the language of the Suwannee River and recognize it as the same language of the divine. The Rendezvous allows us to find God behind the stillness, not in the mind, but through the same energies that scattered the stars. The same energies that move this river. Tesla fed pigeons. The Suwannee River Rendezvous has Pigeon Races. For those looking to be baptized in a new faith, one can break bad without wardrobe changes to orange, by sitting in Convict Springs. A fish looking for a tree to climb. Thinking brilliant, like Einstein. You'd have to experience it for yourself for the feel. Use your own words. Don't use mine. But there is a force there, that smacks of the infinite, that my little bat brain is trying to define in the finite. Silly little man covered in guano. Maybe you can do a better job. If so, start a religion. The tax free benefits are quite remarkable in your current economy. The enlightenment is priceless. Mine was worthless. But isn't that another form of priceless. Next time I'll be more specific. It has been rumored that a reporter asked Einstein what it was like to be the smartest man in the world. He said ask Nikola Tesla. Tesla loved our pigeons. Kampgrounds of America (KOA) is rarely or ever our destination but we do use them for overnight…read morestays while traveling in our RV when the distance is a bit more than we care to drive without an extended break. We've stayed at a number of KOA locations over the years and although most have great amenities we rarely use them since we are basically looking for a safe location close to the highway with full hookups and a level site for the night. I book all the sites using the KOA app so I can pick the type of the site I want and get the pricing upfront with photos showing the accommodations, this has worked out great especially since I am a rewards member and get points I can use on future stays. The Jennings, Florida location is classified as a "Holiday" which provides more ammenties for longer visits and vacations but all types accommodations overnighters. This location is like so many KOA campgrounds it's a little worn, the roads are narrow and the sites are close together but the utilities worked fine and most of the sites are pull-through making for an easy exit in the morning. It's August in Florida and the lack trees makes this location very hot and you better hope your A/C units are in good working order, I have (3) air conditioners on my bus and they ran almost continuously to fight off the sun and humidity but the location made for a good overnight stay. I want to recognize the wonder staff here, the front office made sure everything was taken care of before escorting us to our site. We stayed in site 20 and it was tight for our 41foot coach and our toad but it worked out. The office parking lot is very big so we stopped there to reconnect our tow vehicle before getting back on I75 north bound looking for cooler weather...

I know…read moreeverything is going up in price but to charge $45/night which comes out to $42 when minus disc fee and adding processing fee is way too much for this overnight facility with no amenities. They are working on making it look better by mulching beds when in reality they need to work on the RV sites. The sites are getting worse and worse and need maintenance. Most of not all sites need to be leveled, remove palm trees to make it easier for big rigs to get into a few spaces, and several water spigots at sites leaking and making it muddy. There also appears to be quite a few full-timers living there. Host was very nice. Unfortunately, we will not be back. No longer worth the money.

The staff is flat out amazing, from Brian who often checks on me, to the family that runs the place. Spacious sites in a bucolic setting and the bonus is an Esther Williams delightful spring two miles away at the State Park.

Check in was easy, our campsite was clear, no bugs or refuse, and it was as easy walk back to he office with the showers and other general store type items. There was wooded space between the campsites - providing a sense of privacy. My only complaint would be those of nature... early in the morning some crows were very interested in what feels like our specific campsite and flying around the trees above it and cawing back and forth with each other. On the other hand, my buddy -who was an Eagle Scout in his youth- was not impressed. We had a primitive style campsite. No electric or water hook up where we were. There was a port-o-potty nearby- but if it didn't meet your standard you had to walk about two blocks to the general store. The showers felt more like hostel showers then camp showers. My take away was that his past camping experiences have been a lot more pampered than I am use to when I camp. I could easily camp here again in the future.
