What a cool place! We stayed in the carriage house and it was quiet, comfortable and had everything we needed! Scott and Cathy are wonderful hosts and we just enjoyed sitting and talking with them. The history of this place is pretty cool too! There is a lot to see in the main house and it just has a very chill vibe. We ate dinner in the main house and I tell you, Cathy sure can cook! We enjoyed every meal she made. She even sells a cook book of her recipes! This really is a hidden gem! It is walking distance to down town Monticello which offers some great places to eat and shop. They have wonderful antique stores, a fabulous coffee shop and a little bakery with some of the best treats. It's really a nice little escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life read more

My husband and I went for our anniversary and loved the Daffodale House! This B&B is exquisite, and it was the most relaxing time away that we've had in a long time. Each morning, Cathy greets everyone with a smile, a good morning and a nice breakfast served in their cozy dining room. Coffee is fantastic if you are a coffee drinker! Scottie tells you tails and stories and keeps everyone smiling. He joined us multiple times out on the grand front porch while we enjoyed a glass of wine and rocking chairs (and they do sell wine by the glass or the bottle at dinner). The bedroom was extremely comfortable and filled with loads of great stuff to look at, plenty of room to sit and take a break. The bed was fantastic, lots of pillows and the bathroom was full of soft fluffy towels. Unlike some Inns we have stayed at before, where you have to pay for a bottle of water, just outside the room is a coffee and water bar! Close by, within walking distance if you are a good walker are tons of shops, the opera house and places to eat, although we decided each night to eat at the B&B instead. Cathy is an incredible chef (we also bought her cookbook) and if you stay there, you have to try her prime rib! You will not be sorry! We also traveled to the local winery and brought some bottles home, all organic. Did I say that this was the most relaxing time away that we have had? A perfect stop over on the way to St. Petersburg. A most unusual place. Because we don't do stairs we had the option of a cottage in the back of the grounds. It was cowboy chic with window AC. Yes, we went in sweltering Sept. 2018. Our first meal at the inn was dinner. Cathy is an amazing cook. They also have a peach iced tea that will have you hooked. We were the only ones there at the time and Scott came by to talk to us. He is Jewish from NYC, it was like visiting your Jewish family. We talked for hours. The house is decorated in kitsch. It's a haunted spot and they give tours. Our spot was next to a weeping willow that didn't want its picture taken. I was able to take a daily bath in a sunk in tub. I think we got HBO too. A great place to hang out on the porch or the porch in the main building with a great wheelchair ramp. Buy the cookbook. An amazing experience. read more

What a wonderful experience! We purchased the tour and dinner from Groupon, and it was definitely worth it! The hosts were entertaining, welcoming and the food was probably one of the best meals I've had in a while. It was just myself and my fiancé on the tour, which made it personable and gave us time to talk to Scotty and Kathy. Dinner consisted of fresh warm bread, salad with her homemade dressing, pork chops (didn't even need a knife to cut), mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Dessert was red velvet cake and we purchased a bottle of wine. Lots of unique items in the house, and fun stories to add to it! Will come back for brunch/breakfast read more

To put it simply, the Daffodale House is one eclectic place. Run as a bed & breakfast / supper club, you can make a reservation to stay for a weekend or to pop in for an evening meal. In addition, they offer a high tea event upon request, if you are looking to spend a weekend afternoon in Monticello. The food is good, but definitely made as a home-cooked meal, so don't expect the quality of a professional chef. So far, everything seems normal. Yet, after you meet the owners and wander around the house, you'll understand why I call the place eclectic. I stopped in for a ghost tour event, complete with a meal, tour of the grounds, and ghost stories told by the owner. The husband and wife pair of owners are certainly friendly, but have odd taste, since they take part in bartering and any available space seems to be filled with the most random collection of items. This also transfers over into the choice of décor in all the bedrooms and around the grounds, which are difficult to explain and which you really need to see for yourself. Essentially, it looks like the kind of business that the American Pickers would start. Once we sat down for ghost stories, we were treated to stories about the presumed haunting of the site and various tales of sightings that visitors have experienced, as well as the owners' belief in all manner of the extraordinary such as UFOs and conversations with the dead. You really can't help but feel skeptical. Overall, prepare yourself for an enjoyable, but odd, evening if you choose to visit the Daffodale House. read more

We purchased a Groupon intrigued by the opportunity to try something different with friends. The property is located just west of downtown Monticello on US 90. Nestled beneath an old growth canopy draped with Spanish moss and surrounded by a variety of camellias, sits an old Victorian-style home (1897) that is sure to capture your imagination. We didn't stay at the bed and breakfast, but still enjoyed a delightful bite to eat, some refreshing peach tea, wonderful hospitality and best of all, stories. The owners, Scotty and Cathy, live in the home. Scotty was a wonderful host and provided an overview of the home's past, detailed accounts of odd occurrences and pictures of unexplained aberrations. Scotty is a collector and has many of his prized items on display throughout the home. Scotty and Cathy have done a great job preserving the home, its legacy and the charm that is Monticello, FL. In summary, I am glad we went and plan to visit again. read more

Scotty Ebberbach is the most entertaining host I have ever had at a restaurant, and Cathy Ebberbach is an incredible chef. The house itself is enough to entice you to visit, with its beautiful and eccentric decode and picturesque porch area. The dining is incredible and well worth the price. Some say there are some strange occurrences in this house, and while that does sound pretty fun to thrill seekers of the supernatural such as myself, it is also possible to have wholesome family fun without fear of seeing an ethereal body. We stayed here for my birthday weekend in the carriage house. It's a nice rustic cabin like feel with a private kitchenette and bath and king sized bed surrounded with western decor. The owners welcomed us before we even arrived by calling to see if we wanted to eat dinner at the hotel Friday night. We had their ribeye steak special with mashed potatoes, broccoli and dessert. The steaks were great and cooked to order. Breakfast was very good and served at 8:30am everyday. The owners were wonderful people who made us feel like family. The grounds are beautiful being surrounded by blooming camellia trees. We hope to come visit again soon! read more

My daughter & I stayed here for an overnight stay and simply put, WE LOVED IT!! We felt right at home and the inn keepers Cathy & Scotty were the perfect hosts. This place makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. Our room -- the Unicorn Carousel Horse Room was inviting and the beds incredibly comfortable. The house itself is charming and decorated just right. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. I actually added it on Yelp because I think more people need to know about it. My fiancé and I came for "dinner and stories" and had a fantastic evening. The owners, Cathy and Scott are absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful dinner with another couple, followed by a tour of the house and grounds. Scott headed the tour and told us stories about the history of the house as well as haunted stories that he and guests of the bed and breakfast have experienced. I absolutely loved Scott! He is an incredible person, a phenomenal story teller, and an all-around intriguing guy. I went for their Victorian room tea room with a friend and it was simply a superb experience. It was too cold to be seated in the actual Victorian tea room, so we were seated in the dinning room. Alerted by a small sign at the curb of the Friday night Rib Eye dinners, we RSVP'd after a day of scalloping. The grounds to the entry give you a hint of the homes style. Open the door & prepare yourself for a visual onslaught - this place is jammed with so much stuff, it's hard to take it all in. But once seated & greeted, a glass of wine helps you sift through the random, & find the interest before your ample, perfectly prepared steak arrives on an antique platter snuggled between a steaming pile of garlic mash potatoes and sweet eat of corn! Four of us ordered slightly different doneness & Cathy hit each with impressive accuracy out of her eclectic kitchen. It's all something you really have to see to believe. The food is expertly prepared, the portions healthy (you'd be hard pressed to buy this much beef for the price) and completed with a chocolatey rich tuxedo cake flanked by a juicy butterflied strawberry. This is a taste treat of a meal accompanied by a visual cornucopia! You have GOT to experience this one for yourself. We'll be back, food was tremendous...the clutter?
